In 2008, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of United’s first European Cup win, a statue of Denis Law, George Best and Sir Bobby Charlton was put up outside Old Trafford, our “Holy Trinity”.
Sir Bobby Charlton spend 17 seasons at United, scoring 259 goals (our highest ever goalscorer), and won three league titles, one FA Cup and the European Cup. He also won the Ballon d’Or in 1966. George Best spent 11 seasons at United, scoring 181 goals (our fifth highest goalscorer, and won two league titles and the European Cup. He also won the Ballon d’Or in 1968. Denis Law also spent 11 seasons at United, scoring 237 goals (our second highest ever goalscorer), and won two league titles and the European Cup. He also won the Ballon d’Or in 1964.
We have three “Glory Glory” t-shirts from Roundball United worth $29 to give away. Post a YouTube clip in the comments section below of your favourite goal scored by Denis Law, George Best or Sir Bobby Charlton. Please make sure that the e-mail address you post under is valid as some winners from the last competition didn’t reply to my e-mail asking for their address.

There is one problem with this, and that is our American cousins are showing their ignorance about Best, he wore the N011 shirt as often as he did the No7, in fact all three of them used to change numbers depending on where they played, none had a squad number.
Oh and Law never got a European Cup winners medal, he was recovering from knee surgery in hospital, and didn’t even listen to the game,he read a book instead !
No 10 that night was David Sadler, playing at Centre Back
I do wish the Americans would stop trying to change history

I mean no offense to those of you who genuinely want this shirt, but I think the concept and design are terrible. I’m sure there’s better-looking “Holy Trinity” T-shirts out there.
Favorite goal by Best might be the 1964 v Chelsea where he left McGreedy for dead then put it over the keeper at an imposible angle.
A proper video tribute is the 6 goals he put in v Northampton town in the famous 8-2
Probably the greatest tribute to all 3 is the goal Best scored v Benfica in the European Cup Final of 1968

My younger brother told me he knows the young Liverpool player Raheem Sterling and we were just discussing how it’s good that he has made it. Then my brother said to me you know he has two children. I thought my brother was talking shit so I checked online and found out it is true. If you have seen Raheem Sterling he doesn’t even look like he has started puberty, 17 years old and he already has two children, with two different women. Surprised the media have not found out about him, they would have a field day.
Last week Gill said:
“A lot of clubs would be happy just to introduce the financial fair play regulations into the Premier League now, some wouldn’t. We’ve got financial regulations in the Championship and the Champions League, so we need to do it.”
Today Dave Whelan says:
“The proposal has come from Manchester United — I think City haven shaken them up a little bit — but I think there should be some controls on spending. Some clubs are spending way more than they can afford and getting into trouble — just look at Portsmouth. Something has to be done so we will support these measures.”
Premier League chairmen and chief executives are to hold talks over self-imposed Financial Fair Play rules.

Rai,
” Manchester United hope new medical centre will injuries”
Just tweeted Mark Odgen about that title. Seems a bit rushed. Sad day when decent print media can’t afford a decent copy editor
Fletch – I’m guilty too mate I didn’t even read that properly! Just read the article!
Something had to be done to be fair. I’m surprised they relied on local hospitals for assistance anyway I thought most of the medical diagnosis was done in house.
United are aiming to open their state-of-the-art £13 million medical centre at Carrington training ground in November. The medical centre, with CT and MRI scanners and other cutting-edge equipment, is set to be the first of its kind in the Premier League, with Manchester United planning to emulate the physiological and sports science benefits enjoyed by AC Milan at their world-renowned Milanello complex.
United suffered the worst injury list in the Premier League during the 2011-12 campaign, with the club suffering 39 significant problems (lasting for at least two weeks), a total 1,681 days lost to injury. City suffered just seven significant injuries, costing 186 days lost to injury.
Plans were drawn and approved last year to build the new complex. Having targeted an opening date at the end of 2012 for the centre, United are now planning for it to open its doors in two months.

Hey Robbo got a problem with me you little bitch need to spell it out instead of acting like a 12yr old on a dead thread at 7.40am in the morning
Another thing you stupid little cunt I know you’ve posted 108 times at ND58 so if it has anything to do with that you really are about as juvenile as it gets,as DreadedRed pointed out throw the brick and run
Bunch of lads left because they consider themsevles Elite Reds, some because they fork out 40 quid a game others because they think their knowledge is better.Whatever the reason your nether you’re just a stupid cunt so fuck off
On berba sayving SAF lied to him that he’d have a role to play. SAF didn’t lie, its berba who didn’t understand the role. it was to welcome the new players and break them in the United tradition
@Wayne: Don’t know about Robbo, mate – but seriously dont get why some of you are laying onto folk who post on nd58. Its the internet, folk post where they want, and knowing some of them a little beyond the anonymity of RoM, I don’t think they are the sort of lads who would take to elitism.
The bigger reason why many of those people chose to leave RoM was RoM’s inability to ward off freak-n-fake multi-username cunts, or for that matter ingrate cunts who sign off with “Fuck off Fergie, you cunt” . Not much Scott could probably do without changing the fundamental nature of the blog. If people prefer an alternative structure, fair play to them – just don’t see how that makes them whatever you think them to be. There’s no “Battle of the Blogs” – its the Internet and free will reigns supreme, and there’s jackshit we can do by judging people for exercising it.
Personally, I like nd58 a lot and there are some quality posters there who I relate to and enjoy a laugh, banter and football debate with. Flipside too – it won’t always have as much updated content as RoM, it’s not as easy to navigate across different topics, and won’t attract such a huge “fanbase”, though the last can be a good thing if you want trolls to stay away.
Doesn’t mean that I stop coming to RoM – I still like some posts here – still some genuine debate and good points all around, but of course because of the fundamental structure of the blog, there’s a truckload of shit too. And because I divide my time across blogs, I may not be posting as much as I did on RoM earlier. If someone judges me because of my choice of football blogs, and how I spend my blogging time, well I must say, that sounds a tad harsh at best, and downright silly at worst.

Slightly off topic but apparently Rooney’s done an interview with Richard Keys on Talksport and it’ll be broadcast tommorrow (Friday) … should be worth a listen .
That is not a pretty t-shirt.
It amazes me when the ABU’s try to kid themselves when they say United’s history started in 92. Just shows their hatred, bitterness and pure jelousy when it comes to United.
Will there ever be a team with three European footballers of the year playing in the front line? Probably not, what a team.
disingenuous – not candid or sincere, typically by pretending that one knows less about something than one really does.

jeet the Red
You lot used RoM to swap email addresses. You spoke privately among yourselves about the posters on RoM. You privately decided to start a new forum. You advertised your forum on RoM as a new, better alternative to RoM. You specifically targeted RoM pool of internet Reds, luring them away from your host.
You did not do a broad advertising campaign targeting Reds from numerous blogs. You aimed at Scott the Red’s followers. Used him for free advertising, and offered your forum as an ALTERNATIVE.

Since your group has been away from these shores, the duplicity that you daily moaned about, hasn’t affected us anymore. Perhaps the “freak-n-fake multi-username cunts” went with you.
- Join us on RoM as we live United. Be the excellent contributors you all are.
- Don’t in any way promote your internet page over RoM’s
- Keep any private conversations that you have completely private
- Do not post comments like:
“Joe – I sent you an email, please reply” or
“It’s a private joke among us Reds that are friends off RoM”
This forum/blog (RoM) is open to all-comers, providing a level playing-field.
Having secret conversations hidden from the rest of us is elitist.
Using your private group to discuss and target a wum/troll/red/poster is organised bullying.
Welcome to RoM, enjoy.
Seems to me ROM is for Manchester United fans and nd58 is for FC United fans if you get
my drift
Rio Ferdinand will not face any criminal charges over the Twitter remark ‘choc-ice’
Prosecutors decided not to charge a fellow Twitter user over the original post which was later endorsed by Ferdinand. Crown lawyers decided there was ‘no realistic prospect of conviction’ after considering a file prepared by police about the original message. Detectives prepared their report after speaking to the man who posted the first comment. It means that police have ruled out speaking to Ferdinand.
http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/news/s/1588103_manchester-uniteds-rio-ferdinand-in-the-clear-over-twitter-choc-ice-storm
dazbomber – I also had that (humourous) thought when the herd first migrated.
Perhaps it’s seasonal.
A quote from Rooney’s autobiography (which is being serialised in the Daily Mirror)
Rooney talks of a switch to midfield, where he played last season during an injury crisis at United, explaining: “I get more of the ball, I’m involved loads and, after one game, I even think about playing there permanently, but only later in my career. Once I feel that I haven’t got the sharpness needed to get away from defenders, I’ll probably drop back into midfield for a couple of seasons so I can still influence the game.”
Zoran Tosic said: “It all happened really quickly as I played for just 18 months with Partizan Belgrade. We won the league and the cup and there was a period when it seemed like I was scoring in every match.”
“It was at that point I signed for Manchester United. It was such an exciting moment to go there and to meet Sir Alex. I had grown up as a United fan so to be working for the man who had brought so much success to the club was just unbelievable.”
“However, there is a big difference between the Serbian and English league and when I arrived in Manchester I discovered I was not yet ready for that level. I spoke with Sir Alex many times and he kept telling me I had quality and just had to keep working hard.”
“But I wanted to play more games so went to Cologne in Germany on loan and had a great six months there. When I came back to Manchester I was expecting to play more games for United but it didn’t happen. In the end I wasn’t sure I was going to get the chance I felt I deserved so decided to change club.”
“Even now I am always thinking about that moment. Maybe I shouldn’t have been so quick and should have worked longer to show Sir Alex. Maybe I should have stayed and fought for my place. This was Man United after all.”
“My relationship with Sir Alex was good. He is like that with all the players. He wants them to feel happy and that’s one reason why he is so successful. He is an excellent man-manager. My time in Manchester did not go as I had hoped but I never had a problem with Sir Alex.”
“There is nothing worse than feeling isolated when you are not in the first team but Sir Alex always took time to speak to me and explain things. I appreciated that a lot.”
DreadedRed – if that’s your perception, then so be it. Frankly, I couldn’t care less. Not anymore. I come here to talk United, and have a bit of a laugh with friends, some more than others, anybody apart from StR got a problem with that can go suck on it.
Scott told me that if I didn’t like it here, I am free not to come on – and despite your “barefaced gumption” dig the other day, I actually appreciate that sort of candor. The fact that I still do post on RoM, is because I still like some of the stuff that goes on. Likewise, if he doesn’t want me on his blog, he’s free to ban me, and I respect his prerogative.
So get off your sanctimonious high horse, and stop telling me what to post, who I should be friends with, who I should swap jokes and emails with, who I should bitch about, and what blogs I should post on. Come to think of it, you can continue doing that as well – since the age of 14 I didn’t heed such advice coming from my mum (no regrets there actually – I’d still be stuck in a smalltown and wouldn’t have married the best wife a man could get if I listened to her opinion!), so 20 years down the line, why should I be bothered with you?
I don’t own the blog, neither do you. Sauce, goose, gander.
As for “bullying”, there’s a time that comes to mind, when I actually had to ask you to refrain from attacking newcomers who had a different interpretation/opinion of things at United from your usual sugarcoated version. How times change!
I would be very suprised if STR makes money from posters, more likely “eyeballs” (you know, all the guys who have read the blog for centuries but were sooo discouraged from posting because some of us formed a “clique”, and got our rocks off by “bullying” said loyal readers), and nd58 intends to make no money at all, so it’s not at all like you are making out – company x fraudulently stealing company y’s loyal customers, or shitty poaching Rooney. It’s the Internet, and it’s different. Jeez, some of you need to chill out a bit.
Net-net, if you still want to keep up with your accusations, complete with dictionary definitions, please be StR’s guest – not mine. I couldn’t be arsed – I’ll respond if I feel like it, but then again I may not.
Peaceout, have a spliff and support United.
jeet
What a boring, self-centered response from you.
You appreciated StR’s candour so much that you immediately emailed everyone and actively created an alternative venue for your buddies to gather.
You want your private little group, have it, why flaunt it.
Ronaldo will not join city……
while SAF is still at United. ??
Strange statement??
what you make of this? Posted by icedearth but worth a think IMO
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4522988/Cristiano-Ronaldo-will-never-join-Man-City-while-Fergies-at-Utd.html
jeet
StR does make money from posters. Those who click on adverts.
I do. Do you? Clearly not, or you’d know that he does earn from RoM.
Have a look at the advertised wares. It only takes a moment.
@Fletch: The day Fergie leaves, Ronnie in blue will probably be the least of our worries. May such a day never come about, I try imagining what it might be like and I just can’t….
FletchTHEMAN – ‘a source close to Ronaldo’ could be anyone in Madrid.
I’m not placing any store in it’s value. It’s just The Sun shining us on.
To the tune of “Jamie’s got a gun” –
“Granny’s got a pimp”
Jokes apart, actually, DreadedRed – I do – from time to time, when it catches MY fancy, not because I feel it my loyal duty to do so, or when some asks me to. THAT is the fundamental nature of the Internet – some post on twitter, some on FB, some on both, they cross-advertise, and I can’t for the life of me understand why it’s so difficult to comprehend. Cyril advertised AoF for instance, and StR to his credit, didn’t have a problem.
Anyway, I digress – unfortunately most merchandise don’t ship to India. I’ve been very interested in the Giggsy t-shirts, not sure about size and then last I saw they didn’t ship.
See I just felt like responding, gee I’m in a good mood today
jeet – It’s always a pleasure when a red infectiously spreads his good humour.
For all good reasons, long may your mood remain good!
Hate going off topic about something few in here care about, but I’ll just say this. The analogy of the situation between the 2 forums with the Manchester United/FC United situation is flawed, for the lack of a better term. And those that have been to both places should know better.
The Daily Mail offer sourceless conjecture that Nani “faces an anxious wait to discover whether he will join Zenit St Petersburg in a £25million deal before the Russian transfer window closes on Thursday.”
Yes of course. Nani will chose to end his contract here, and go play in Russia.
That should get him the ballon d’or.
Anyway, the news about the new medical facility that that Rai and DreadedRed posted is sweet music to my ears. Hopefully it will ensure that our players (especially the injury prone ones) stay fit on a regular basis. I said it time and time again. You can’t act like nothing’s wrong when you get so many injuries. And like the article said, maybe our methods were outdated. If this works, this could turn into the best 13mil we’ve spent in a while.
Costas – the analogy is flawed, which is why it only has (some) humour value.
That’s why I never mentioned it originally, and why I added (humourous) to dazbomber’s submission. It’s not the same situation as the FCUM separation.
sir Bobby Charlton’s goals vs Benfica in the final of 1968!
oops, forgot the link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-1RxuCI6kQ&feature=related
The Medical facility is excellent news. Accelerated by the flood of injuries we had last year, there is talk of it opening this year.
@DreadedRed
I know you didn’t mate. Wasn’t directed at you. I just wanted to point out, because as far as I know, denouncing this place wasn’t a condition in order to join the other forum. Which I won’t name since there was an issue with how it was plugged in here. Personally speaking, and despite any issues I may have with the comments section at ROM, I am happy to post at both places. Or to play for two teams at the same time.
By the way, sorry I can’t contribute to this thread’s actual topic. Unfortunately, I never saw the original Holy Trinity in action and I don’t have the time to search for some of their best goals right now. But I’ll be there when we do a similar thing for the new Holy Trinity!
Year dread..
I heard it will be opened by november this year
As am I Costas … I post on both but prefer the arguments on ROM
anyone has any news on Fletcher?
havent heard anyhing about him and then suddenly he’s included in the Champions league squad!
I feel sorry for lebomanc
You can only cope with the situation here
Anyway back on topic …29 dollars (approx. £20) for a tshirt…, fucking hell ….
some ones fucking coining it
TonyBee – that’s rubbish! There are no arguments on RoM. You are wrong!
I personally don’t understand the big deal over this.
i was actually happy the mugs formed a new group.
no longer do we have to listen to cedars pathetic life story.
i am glad.
And I actually hot to see the HolyTrinity play many times …, they were fucking majestic
Best was like greased lighting
Charlton was a midfield maestro
and Law was deadly in front of goal…
He’s also training with the Scotland’s squad
@lebomac
Even fergie seems unsure whether he’s ready or not
“For Darren, it’s great to be back and I hope it’s the start for him. We don’t know as we’re all aware he’s got this issue he needs to deal with and he’s dealing with it very well at the moment. What we’ve seen tonight is encouraging for us.”
Been there, got the T-shirt.
Well, the DVDs actually. Having recently won, I thought I’d miss a few competitions.
The mule-train comes my way twice a year, so there’s plenty of time.
ps Do any other compo winners wanna join me at onlytrophyhunterthatwin.blog?
Devils own … Sanctimonious little creep
That was after the game vs aberdeen @lebomanc
ROM>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>ND58
Who in the blue fuck is this aragon chap, Best wore the 11 more than the 7 but he’s an iconic number 7 Dwnis Law to me said he listened to the match in hospital on the radio with a few bottles and was drunk and bouncing on his hospital bed,
TonyBee : go play with cedars and his willie on nd 58.. you little pedophile.
Devil’s own
I’ve copy/pasted your comment into my MustKeepHandy folder, so you won’t have to keep posting the same old message. What do you think about the new Medical facility?
hey @nobby pickering, why dont you post more often?
Devil’s ingrown toenail, or is that a stone in your shoe?
DreadedRed : think it’s about time they did something.. our medical staff is so bad they would give stephen hawking a hamstring pull..
Also anyone read about fergie being in the US to recruit guardiola? imo its rubbish.
@TonyBee
And how lucky you were. And just imagine. In 30 years we will talk about the Bebe, Obertan, Bellion trinity.
shrededred : sure ! got no beef with you.
thanks for the info about Fletcher.
but whats all this talk about Cedars? and where is he?
lebomanc : cedars is currently playing with his willie on a forum started by the so called ”Regulars” to meet up and suck up to each other.. sandeep cedars jeet tonybee bilaji (or whatever). willierednut etc.
Eric King, I do post , just not as much, I read everything but if the Internet has taught me anything its 60% of united fans are up their own holes and act like wakers on it, the other 40% though are why I keep coming back, I take it you are on twitter for calling me nobby
Sachu, didn’t your parents teach you it’s not nice to talk about people behind their backs?
Nice to see you here GHTT.
You always know where to get me Costa
@GHTT : yep, your tweets are great, hence wondered, you are right though. and as exhibit read the last 10-12 posts on this thread..
@GHTT
Yeah pal. No complaints. This place did miss you though.
Greek island iced C :i take it you are accusing me of being “sachu”. When will you realise that sachu stopped posting right after he copy-pasted the entire thread on a comment.. he then came back 3 months later and apologised. stop benadign every one by his name. he was a nutter. . do one and go back to your rabbit hole or keep talking about wwe berba and dark knight.
@Costas: Sachu’s parents???
@Lebomanc: Fletch has been training with the U-21s, and the Scotland team and recently played 90 minutes with them. SAF says he’s gained back all the weight he’d lost from 2 years back. Very encouraging, and I’m excited – but still a long way from regular first XI. I’d love to see him play a role in the CL if we secure qualification early.
Yeah right freak. Get a life and stop stalking people on twitter and trolling this place. You haven’t even made an effort to make your 2 usernames sound any different. Idiot.
@Jeet
Or just him in the flesh. He’s like a cockroach. He’ll still be around even if this place shuts down.
“Hey GHTT why don’t you comment anymore??” So I express my views with people who would give a man like Costas abuse?
two usernames? the fuck? again? oh bore off. the moment anyone argues, accuse them of having two usernames.. so classy. just like your debt ridden recession stricken country.
Devils own, Telax with the fuckin racism , What’s a persons country’s finance got to do with a man, Ireland is broke , What’s that to do with me,
Mundo Deportivo is reporting -
Sir Alex is in New York meeting Pep Guardiola to discuss the possibility of him taking the Man United job from July 2013.
and Pep is taking a year in NY to relax and learn english NYC?!
@GHTT
It’s just one person under 2 (or maybe more) usernames mate. And as you can see, he has class. It’s just all low.
FletchTheMan Sir Alex Ferguson has a place in New York, He goers there once a Summer for the last few years, I wouldn’t think much into this
Pep meeting w/ Fergie in NYC… Could it be more than an hunger for the Bagels ?
http://www.mundodeportivo.com/20120906/futbol/internacional/alex-ferguson-new-york-pep-guardiola_54347016899.html
GottaHate. Great to see ya posting mate. Post more. The crap being slung around down on here needs to be diluted with a higher class of humor.
How’s that little doll of yours?
Cheers.
@Costas: Given that the same analogy to a cockroach has been made for Keith Richards, or Keef to us Stones fans, I take offence. A simple ccunt, with emphasis on the c and the u pronounced short, does just fine for me
And of course, nice to see you as ever, GHTT
Fletch I’m good mate, Emily is world class and healthy, she’s getting ready to be a big sister. Hope alls well with you
I think I read somewhere that Fergie will retire in 2 years? If that’s the case, Pep probably isn’t the chosen one.
@Jeet
Fair enough buddy. I just thought that the c word was a given when it came to him. I was trying to be original.
Gotta hate.
Congratulations if I didn’t post it before. A Red home and growing!
“Giggsy bombing down the wing” in 3 part harmony then?! CLASS!
Expect Emily will be asking about the keys in a couple of years. My daughter is 14 and starting to ask about the shifters and gears.
Fletch only telling my brother yesterday, Emily knows more about cars than I do, mad for driving, she understands how to do it her legs are just too short, loving the look of Van Persie as well so she is
GHTT – Congratulations!!!
Though, if you don’t mind my saying so (pls treat it as a joke between the lads, and no offence intended), I’m damned if I know when couples get the time to make the second, with the first still bouncing around the place
sky sports excerpts from Rooneys new book:
Rooney eyes switch to midfield
View Image >
Wayne Rooney says he plans to switch to midfield once he loses his sharpness up front.
The Manchester United striker is currently recovering from a thigh injury suffered against Fulham recently.
And in his autobiography, currently being serialised in the Daily Mirror, he describes how his experiences of playing in midfield last season has given him food for thought with regards to his future career.
Rooney enjoyed a handful of games in midfield during an injury crisis at United and the 26-year-old said: “I got more of the ball.
“I was involved loads and, after one game, I was even thinking about playing there permanently, but only later in my career.
“Once I feel that I haven’t got the sharpness needed to get away from defenders, I’ll probably drop back into midfield for a couple of seasons so I can still influence the game.”
Let’s hope it will be a few more years……. after a dose of diet pills as well
Geaorge Best Goal wasnt scored a a United player
Another GHTT offspring on the way. The red family is definitely in great hands.
GHTT, That Goal of Georgies in the old MLS was nowhere near his best. Only thing is that his best were never caught on tape with enough clarity and angle to understand what was going on. I actually think it is a p*ss take to put that goal in with some of the others in those top 12 goal videos. He had so many others that were just out of this world. Law as well. Sort of pioneered the bicycle kick for the camera, though it was done for years before.
Also expect the MLS lads were just happy to watch… .
Dr Dread spot on with Jeet, he then pushes his agenda and then threatened me to tell the teacher on me for my views on Berba? Wow high and mighty shit!
GHTT nice to read you, best wishes.

@RealParkJiSung: I love international break… Pretty much just a week of Jäger-Bombs and fingering women.
Probably a fake
GHTT been a long time fella… Great news on the family extension
Costas even you getting it in the neck from the child of Satan … Thought I had exclusive rights on that weasel… As for the trinity… Few years ago paid homage and went to OT soley to have photo took under the statue.
Now I must say it really was magical watchings masters of their craft in action problem was just didn’t realise at the time
Costas…Wonder if Scott fancies doing RoM idiot poster of the year … Like a top ten wanker list. We could vote for each other
@TonyBee
I think we would easily make the top 5.
The Sachu cockroach would easily come first though..
I also took my photo under the statue the one time I went to OT mate. One of the highlights of the trip.
