All these Scouse ”tis/ t’isn’t’ squabbles are a bit tiresome. Why are they so obsessed with coming on a United site? Yes history shows that Liverpool have won more titles and more European Cups (but not Champions Leagues), and no-one should try to take that away from them. I’m always ready to give due credit to anyone, whether it’s them or Arsenal or anyone else. But for me there are wider considerations, which go down to core philosophies. As it happens I’d always prefer United’s tradional strengths, going back over a hundred years, favouring risky, attack-minded play and free-form creativity to the sometimes arid grind ‘em down ethos at Liverpool. Yes I envy some of the great players Liverpool have had, who could deliver fantastic attacking play, like Dalgleish or Rush,(or Torres and Gerrard) but taken overall decade in and decade out, it’s been United who play the Glory Game, not Liverpool. Another thing that should perhaps enter the equation is the terrible loss of life at Munich. If United had not been decimated then, it’s very likely that team would have utterly dominated the 60s, if not the 70s under Matt Busby, clocking up many more trophies, including more European Cups. Given the impact on him emotionally and physically it is amazing what he did achieve after the crash, as his close friend Bill Shankly undoubtedly knew.Talk of Busby reminds me that we should all aspire to his principles: be modest and magnanimous in victory, and gracious in defeat. I’m not sure any of us in the last week or so has managed that. So,in that spirit I will say again to my many Scouse friends, well done for your 1-4. The ball remains round, who knows how it will roll for the next few months?

)))) you have a good team which is capable of winning the league (just) but an over cautious manager whose style of play will never allow you to win the league while he is manager. At least we don’t have to worry about the dippers until 2014 (hopefully they keep him that long!) , although the young arsenal side is in a rebuilding phase and if they keep the talented players they should challenge us for the next few seasons.
This reduces the pain of the loss to the dippers, now that fsw has signed a long term deal, to think if we had beaten them Benitez probably would not have got the terms he wanted. Shit happens for a reason and now liverpool has resigned themselves to another 5 years of hurt…..haha i can see you crying already!
