Good News On Valencia

Despite initially fearing he would be out for a month, Antonio Valencia will likely be available for our trip to Tottenham next weekend.

“The availability of Ashley Young and Nani as natural wide players considerably strengthens our attacking options,” Ferguson wrote in the programme for Ajax. “And I am sure our strikers are pleased to see them. They will be sorry to see Antonio Valencia injured again because he too provides great service from out on his wing, but it’s not a particularly serious injury and he should be back in a week or so.”

Good news, Nani will have to give the performance of a life time against Norwich if he is to keep his place.

  2. cpr says:

Shame about Cleverley though who has supposedly picked up another ankle injury again. With the amount of injuries our players sustain it really does make me question our fitness team, especially when you see the likes of Barcelona get so few.

  3. CedarsDevil says:

That is great news, along with Carrick and Evans Tony V has been one of our best players this season

  4. GreedySwede says:

Great Fucking news. He was badly missed yesterday. Now lets crush Norwich on sunday!
    GGMU!

  5. WillieRedNut says:

It’s funny that Valencia is now a more important player than Nani or Young now? Go back to the start of the season, you wouldn’t of put Tony v ahead of Nani, or Young. A testament to Valencia’s improvement and his swash buckling form. Along with Carrick, our 2 inform players.

  6. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

As I mentioned I would also throw in Evans into that mix, solid as fuck he has been every time he played

  7. The WitchKing of Angmar says:

    Good news indeed.
@Gorse Hill Red, I believe the person whose place is under increased threat is Young and not Nani. Fergie would most likely start Nani on the left and Tony V. on the right and probably bring on Young second half. We have great options on the wing to be honest. glory glory man utd.

  8. King Eric says:

    Willie – Spot on pal.

As for Tom I love the kid BUT we will get by without him as we have done for the whole season bar about 8 games! Get Jonesy in there again alongside Carrick. Scholes and Giggs can play when needed.

  9. Costas says:

Great news. As it was evident in both games against Ajax, we are really missing him. Lets just find a way to escape Sunday’s game and then we will think about Spurs.

As for Cleverley, I have no words anymore. Ferguson will ring the changes where it matters when Andy Carroll starts convincing people he’s actually a footballer. Pathetic.

  10. Doghouse says:

The Cleverly business pisses me right off because it all started with that bone-crunching tackle from the thug Davies in the Bolton game. He got properly did that game, but it was early in the match so the blatant red card was only a yellow. He hasn’t been 100% since, as is often the case when a young player gets targeted like that.

  11. Doghouse says:

Just to add, it is of course great news to get Tony V back in the team. He is made of win.

  12. azza says:

Great to hopefully have Valencia back for the spurs match. This is going to be a big match in terms of the race for the title and Valencia adds that extra element. Is it true that De Gea will miss the match due to international olympic duty?

  14. Utd4life says:

Great to hear that Tony V could be in contention for the Spurs game. The man is a beast. Period.

  15. bruce thomas says:

I think Cleverley’s injury might clear up very quickly once the stupid England friendly has passed by.

  16. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

I said Tony V would be back for Spurs he is physically sound.

    Gorse hill red

Mate to be fair Nani will be a sure start against spurs as will Valencia if fit.

  17. denton davey says:

GorseHillRed @ 10:26: ” Nani will have to give the performance of a life time against Norwich if he is to keep his place.”

You MUST be joking. It’s Ashley Young – not Nani – who is “on the bubble”. Since January, 2010, Nani has been one of the very best players for TheLads hwereas Ashley Young has done little to justify his transfer-fee, let alone take playing-time away from the man who led the EPL in assists last year and hasn’t been too shabby this year.

  18. denton davey says:

One other thing – against the one-dimensional Kyle Walker, Nani will have a field-day.

  19. denton davey says:

King Eric @ 13:13: ” Get Jonesy in there again alongside Carrick.”

Absolutely right – it’s just sooo obvious, like the nose-on-your-face. MrJones against Modric/Parker – gotta like his chances to shine in that “contest”.

  20. Owen says:

Jones is no midfielder , he’s a center half , as for nani, give him a chance , he’s only back from injury, Tom cleverly is the new Darren anderton I think , play one game miss 10 games!!

  21. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    Owen

To be fair though mate Jones best performances this year have come from midfield. I agree though he is a center half.

I’m gonna piss of my mate king Eric but I’m worried about Clev. He very much looks the part but still yet very unproven. A lot of fans was desperately waiting for his return yet he has only played a handful of games for the first team.

I’m creaming of the future though our team looks class and ready for years to come.

  22. King Eric says:

Giggs12 – Alright pal. No it doesn’t piss me off at all mate. Like I said above we have got by the season without Tom and will do so for the rest if need be.

Owen – Jones is NOT a centre half. As Denton said its obvious his best position is in the middle of the park. He was superb at Villa Park and Loftus road with his lung bursting runs.

  23. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

With Valencia coming back quick team he must have gone to city for treatment hey Costas… :-)

  24. Owen says:

Ok lads, I see ur points , but at the highest level jones will get found out in midfield, let’s face it u could put mike phelen in midfield against villa and qpr and he would stand out.

  25. Ambrose christian says:

Though am a fan of Nani, but without sentiment T.valencia is a more important player for now

  26. Owen says:

Nani had a poor game , get over it , he’s been great all season and a vital part of our team for the future, lay of him!!

  27. redevil_83 says:

i am of bruce’s opinion. clevs actually exchanged some words post match and no discomfort was noticed at all. i think fergie’s on a ruse so that clevs does not have to play the useless engalnd friendly (where i hear he was slated to start). i think clevs was withdrawn yesterday due to match fitness, not injury…

  28. redevil_83 says:

amazing news on valencia though. young’s looked off color, as has nani. but can’t wait valencia and nani tearing up the flanks at white heart lane and send those lillywhite fullbacks running for cover. vamos.

  29. KVN says:

Glad the terminator is back. Tony V peeps weren’t sure.
Cleverley just needs games he’ll recover for the spurs game.

  30. rijah says:

With too many injuries this season, our next aim should be to get world class fitness team and equipments for the team. Otherwise, we will be in huge trouble for the coming seasons…!!

  31. Law says:

Tony without any iota of doubt is a great boost for our darling team it only ginger the team mate to buckles up and cause opposition defense to pee on pant and have long shower after the break.GGMU

  32. daemondada says:

I was dead certain tony v would b back 4 d spurs game.gotta luv saf 4 spottin such an awesome talent.now, onwards unto domestic and european glory!special luv for my boy clevs.b well.

  33. Simonred says:

    Tony V the beast.
