Reports suggest that Owen Hargreaves has asked to be withdrawn from the squad before we face Zenit St Petersburg in tonight’s UEFA Super Cup, after admitting he doesn’t feel fully fit.
Sir Alex Ferguson had said just yesterday that Hargreaves would be playing, but would not be able to feature for England’s World Cup qualifying games. Fabio Capello was not best pleased at being told of the situation so late on, as he had already made the journey to see Hargreaves in action ahead of picking his team.
However, it seems as though Capello will be even less impressed now, with Hargreaves set to miss out on the match.
Don’t worry Fabio, you can still watch Rooney, Wes and Neville… oh, and that guy you should have chosen as your captain.
