Hargreaves: Can’t Wait To Wear United Shirt Again

Owen Hargreaves in the standsOwen Hargreaves has returned to training following a long layout after operations to both his knees.

He is set to return to first team action in November and is already counting down the days.

“I can’t wait to get back involved in it all,” said Hargreaves. “I can’t wait to play again for United, to be able to pull on the shirt and have an effect on games. Running out at Old Trafford will be a big thing for me. It’ll be amazing.”

Hargreaves returned to Manchester late last month, along with the physio he worked with throughout his rehabilitation in America.

“The reception I’ve had has been great,” he added. “That was one of the things that I really missed, being with the guys in the dressing room. There’s such a great energy around this club. It’s fantastic being back in with all the different characters and personalities.”

i dont know how long he can get himself ready for another match, because the level is very high, after such a long layoff, it’s very difficult to get the match fitness back.. But Hargo, we need you.

  2. rooney_thebestest says:

Come on lad…help us win the damn european cup again!!!

  3. aman says:

cannot wait for his return…the only english player who’s played abroad won every trophy available and didn’t warm the bench!! Forget Tevez and Ronaldo, we’ve missed this guy the most! A class act

  4. theboogeyman says:

Hargo is a class act.Plays anywhere, want him back soon.

    PS:I want curly hair too.

  5. Fze123 says:

I also can’t wait for him to wear utd shirt again. how frustrating must it have been unable to play for 12 months. hopefully he’ll be like a new signing to us, get to match fitness and get to the form he had in the 07/08 season. and stay injury free. he was horribly missed in key matches last season (dippers at home & CL final notably) and plays great with ando in midfield, I cannot wait to see our midfield boasting fletcher, hargo, ando and nani/valencia in a team line-up.

He will bring back his class, his experience, his brilliant technique at taking freekicks/penos and his versatility. And his curly hair.

  6. 20legend99 says:

Top marks to Hargo for coming back from injury. We need ya mate, don’t let us down.

  7. aig alex is god says:

  8. aig alex is god says:

the king of midfield is back.just love the guy.he is a machine.has brilliant stamina and has high energy levels.fletch and hargo will be a cracking combo.we can dominate anybody and any midfield.Bring on Barca.hargo and fletch can keep xavi iniesta etc etc all in check

  9. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    Hargreaves return
one of the main reasons i have mutv
i can see it in a reserves game any week now

  10. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

Ive said it before and Ill say it again
i predict Owen Hargreaves to get the sir matt busby player of the season in may

  11. afromanc says:

    Come on Hargo!!!!!

  12. aig alex is god says:

    ghtt

i agree with you.he will make a massive difference.he is a class act.no doubt about that.give him all the penos and free kicks and he will get quite a few goals too.i have never seen him miss a peno and his free kick technique is brilliant

  13. MUFC the Religion says:

    Hands up for curly hair.

  14. theboogeyman says:

    Both hands up.

  15. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    BAD NEWS ON HARGREAVES RETURN
he has grown a doggy doggy gotee

  16. Jack says:

    hard question: essien or hargreaves?

  17. Pat says:

Great fucking player, coming from an Arsenal fan. Probably your only midfielder that could get into our team atm, in place of Song.

No disrespect meant to Giggs, but you are hyping up his contributions(this season) a bit too much imo.

Fletcher is only quality when he’s not on a yellow card. He’s nowhere near as effective if he’s been cautioned already.

  18. Jack says:

how are we pat? his 35, played like 2 and a half games this season and made 8 assists..?
as for flecther his always quality.

  19. Jack says:

..apart from v sunderland the other day.

  20. Long John O'Shea says:

have my hair nice and curly….. thank jebus he is just about back…

  21. Gudjohnsen says:

Any news on when he’ll play his first reserve game?

Can’t wait to see him in action again. But we must be patient, he’s been away for a long time, it will take time to get the fitness levels back up again.

  22. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    Gudjohnsen
nect game is on monday but i think that might be too early
van der sar might get another game
van der sars last reserves game before yesterday?? feb 1994
most of the united reserves he played with last night where in nappys and one of them wasnt even born

  23. Park on the drive says:

Come off it Pat, your ‘style’ of football is hyped up more than Giggsy’s contribution so far this season! As shown above, stats don’t lie! It’s like averaging 1 assist every 20mins or summet!lol N peppered with stunning goals!

PS, I think Fletcher would get in before Song??, maybe even Carrick IMO…
Fabregas was unplayable though! Although I find it hard to say in public, I wish he was our Scholesy replacement sometimes!!

HARGO FOR THE WINNER @ THE EMIgRAnTES!!lol

  24. Dimitar Berbatov is King says:

If anything my prefered midfield will consist of Fletcher, Hargreaves, Carrick and Giggs/Valencia. Hargreaves is the man.

Now, I am more concerned with the defense. Oh well, I guess having Fabio-Evans-De Laet-Rafael isn’t a bad choice after Evra-Ferdinand-Vidic-Brown…

  25. King Eric says:

Lets not forget he has even scored from a corner.
If I had a hat on I would take it off to this man. The drive and self discipline the man must have to fuck off to the states on his own for a YEAR to train and rehabilitate himself is amazing. Just shows how strong the geezer is. Cannot wait to see him run out for his first game back. We don’t know what we have been missing. Everytime people mention our midfielders Carrick seems to be forgotten about. Make no mistake Micheal WILL be another huge reason we get four on the bounce. He just seems to be getting his form back.

Pat – fair play but don’t make me laugh. Fletch, Carrick, Scholes, Giggs and Hargo would ALL get in your midfield. Men and boys son, men and boys.

  26. TonyBee says:

Pat you dopey pillock…. fancy saying that none of team would make Wengers first team…..
Fucking hell even I would get into the Arse-nil team ……and i’m mid fifties and over weight with dodgy knees……
only the spitter would make it in to OT then only if he was at his best …..
Jesus, you lot at the Emirates make me laugh with your constant self belief…..
you hammer a couple of lower teams then give it fucking large till you come to one of the top four clubs who then put you shower of cunts in your place.
    ARSE-NIL….. a team on the wane…..
you’ll be fucked next year when Wenger and Fabregas move on….
    2-3 seasons and relegation awaits…..
cant come soon enough for me

  27. denton davey says:

Fze @ 17:46 – Totally agree; a UTD midfield with Hargreaves, Fletcherinho, and Anderson would be my first choice, too. Of course, ‘we’ll have to wait for that to happen but anyone who thinks that the pre-January part of the season is anything more than foreplay is clearly not watching the way the manager’s strategy is structured.

  28. RedDeviled Egg says:

    TonyBeem,
Show a bit of class. Arsenal have some top players..
I’d definitely take Manone(as a backup) over foster any day. He saves goals he doesn’t gift them.
Van Persie? not good enough? Arshavin? not good enough? come on. Clue in to reality. These guys are class acts. They prove it in the league and internationally.
Having said that I still want Vidic to stick a foot up both their assholes next time we play ahaha

  29. Park on the drive says:

DIIAAAAABEEYYY!!!! (to Paul Whitehouse ‘green armey!’)

Couldn’t stop shouting that after I watched him score our winner!ahahahaha

ps. If Diaby can get into that first XI, anyone can!DIAARRBBEEYYYY!!!!!!

pps. @ Tony in fairness to Pat, he waas talking about Mid… however dreadfully wrong/high of their win he may be.

@ RedDeviled Egg, If you were offered Van Persie + Ashravin for Rooney, would you take it?
    I thought not. ;O)

  30. Park on the drive says:

Denton, you’re so right. that’s why SAF’s seasoned experience is so irreplaceable. and that’s where Ancefatti may fall in this unforgiving league that we all love.
+ January, this year, brings with it the African Cup of Nations!! My favourite tounie!! (Bye Drogba, Essien, Kalou, laterz Diaby, Eboue, Song, fuck off Adebayor, Toure. And hope you all don’t get injured or kidnapped in war torn Angola. Not!)mwahahahaha!

  31. Jack says:

    park on the drive
was looking at that the other day and it only goes on for a month dont it? chelsea only got hull sunderland birmingham and burnely through january, city got a couple of hard ones though

  32. Drew Vader says:

I hope everyone can show patience with Hargo when he does come back. He’s been out for a very very long time so it would be damn near impossible for him to come in and be up to the pace right from the start. He will need multiple games to get back to something even resembling his best form, and hell we might not even see it again this year at all.

I just get worried that people are expecting him to come in and be amazing straight away and dominate midfield clashes… Thats just foolish in my opinion.

  33. Muggaz says:

    lol GHTT and AIG

Come on now, Hargo doesn’t have a chance at winning the SMB trophy in May, he would need to have an amazing season, and until he completes 90 minutes for the first team, I am sceptical that he will be able to return to the level he previously was – coming back from 12 months out and expecting him to dominate games is not realistic… I am looking forward to him playing with Ando though, I think it’s a dynamite combination, and I wish the lad the best for a full recuperation!

  34. aig alex is god says:

    @Muggaz

dont underestimate the king of midfield.he is a very determined lad and will be back to his best soon .and i am backing him to score quite a few goals too.he will make a big difference to our side.i am backing hargo to help us to get back to our beautiful style of football.he can help us dominate midfields and get stuck in.especially in the big games and CL knockout games.dont rule out anything.he is capable of winning the award because apart from giggsy and probably fletch no player has hit anywhere near top form yet and lot of them have been inconsistent.hargo has a chance

  35. wazza (Bezi) says:

i want curly hair too :-)

  36. willierednut says:

If hargo doesn’t get over his injury problems then i think we shud go for yaya toure.

  37. Williamk says:

Yaya wouldn’t come to Old Trafford just be patient with the lads when possebon returns well get yet another boost, any thoughts on this Maicon business? I’d be thrilled to have him, IMO he’s an even better attacking than evra and that’s saying quite a bit.

  38. Williamk says:

Also then we could push fabio and rafael into the midfield if need be

  39. willierednut says:

Did he tell you he wudn’t come, every player has his price weve seen that this summer. Regarding miacon rumours, i think were covered at rite back, though he is a top player.

  40. Bebeto says:

I won’t presume that Barcelona wouldn’t have won if Hargreaves had been starting, but you can be sure that they wouldn’t have had it half as easy. Him and Fletcher would have made them actually work for that cup.

For all the plaudits Barcelona received about being one of the best teams ever, a lot had to be said about our uncharacteristic display that contributed towards that.

  41. Datnana says:

Seems y’all forgotten Orbetan. united is great. Plus ljajic and diouf! Ha-ha-ha. That’s quality. Hope u guys are scouting the u-20s. Who would you love united buy?

  42. Red Canuck says:

    Just remember he’s Canadian! lol

  43. bengalisoldier says:

great cnt w8 till he arrivin 2 da game sure it will bring mre big 4 man utd will make us stronger team ever.

  44. KVN says:

    Imagine our midfield combination

    Carrick

    Hargo. Fletcherinho

    Combo no 2

    Hargo Fletcherinho Anderson

    Combo no 3

    Hargo Anderson
    Giggs

    Combo 4
    Vanecia Hargo Fletcherino Giggs
