I know about this because my daughter's boyfriend is a professional soccer player and he has had to undergo this operation which involves replacing the damaged ligament(s) with muscle tissue. From what I understand, he has ended up with "bionic knees"; maybe he can get over his injuries and finally realize his true potential. So, it's been a very costly injury but from what I understand, his surgery works well with a determined individual. And, Owen Hargreaves is very, very determined so I would expect him to be a key part of next year's team. As someone wrote, thankfully Fletcherinho has taken advantage of this opportunity with both hands and finally established himself as a first-team player. Indeed, Fletcherinho has been so good that Anderson has hardly played - what a change from this time last year when Anderson seemed like "the saviour" and the so-called "Scottish player" was met with derision. Bringing Hargreaves into the equation will maintain TheLads' strength-in-depth, which is crucially important in a long season. Hargreaves played a vital role in us winning the league and champions league last season so hopefully he comes back as good as before.
