Harry: Beckham Fancies Spurs Move

Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has claimed that David Beckham wants to join his club on loan in January.

Despite repeatedly claiming he is a Manchester United fan and would never play for another English club, Becks has been in talks with Spurs over a potential loan move.

“I think David fancies it,” said Redknapp. “He’d like to come here and play. I like him, I’ve always respected him as a player, as a person. I think he’s a great lad and a fantastic role model. I think he’d be great here for the short spell that we could get him on loan. It’s probably (in the hands of LA Galaxy). But he’s on to it and we’re talking to him about it.”

Personally gents im a big admirer of becks, and imo he is a manchester united legend. i would personally like united to have him back on loan, i feel he could be a usefull impact player, you know you’d get good delivery in the final 3rd, his free kicks and so fourth would be an assit, and we have pace in our ranks if need be to exploit the opposition to a ball over the top and expose the oppostion to it. just pointers i feel could be to our advantage.

with regards to beckham being over rated i dont feel so, he’s twice become runner up in fifa world player of the year, regarded as one of the best crossers of the ball of his generation, if not the best, has always had a good work ethic. so has obvious pediagree. and his peers have always spoke highly of him.

I would sign him we are not exactly brill in midfield are we he is still better than any of the bunch we had yesterday . Who would you rather have becks or fucking gibson i rest my case

  3. King Eric says:

Great player for united and not over rated but sick to death how its poor becks who was forced out and all big bad fergies fault. As mattbw said the other day will never forget him driving out training hround with his alice band ensuring his cut could be seen. A circus of a player. With wayne on the spurs thing. If he had intentions of joining other english clubs then he should never have said no club but united. Simple as that.

    King Eric
    I agree with you completely.
Although, if he does join Spurs I will still consider him to be a true fan of United

  5. wayne says:

am i the only one seeing the irony in smartalex last comment to King Eric,King Eric you really are the king,he calls me a miserable failure without knowing me,you agree with me and he’s behind you 100%.i tip my hat to you sir.

    whats everyones problem?

He’s United through and through, was forced to leave (and rightly so at the time) he’s gone on to a few clubs after that but never has he said a bad word against United, he’s always been respectful and shown his love for the club, him and his family are still United supporters, his dad still goes to games.

so why on earth are people coming out with this ‘he’s a hypocrite if he joins spurs’. no he’s not he’s a player who wants to play football of a high standard again, if United arent showing any interest but other English clubs are ofcourse he’s going to join on loan, i would, you would, everyone with a brain cell would. its not like he’s joining city/liverpool/leeds etc he’s joining a club we have no problem with.

Agree with AlphaRS 1 Jan 2011 22:42 – beck’s a complete and total cunt. he can fuck off. I’d rather play Ben Amos on the right wing than re-sign becks. Agree with mattbw7 1 Jan 2011 21:02 – he’s a fucking manipulater of every fucking living thing. now sod off from my life, david! shoooh..!

  8. Kevin says:

It is clear if he could join United he would in a second. He wants to play for us again but is not being given that opportunity. I think the fact Fergie does not fancy it points to the fact he was forced out. Yes that is the spin the “Beckham line” put out but I have never heard it repudiated by Fergie or anyone within the club. I won’t view him as a hypocrite because the basis of his comment was his love for United and the wish to never play against them or hurt their chances of winning a title. I don’t think Spurs is a realistic threat at this stage so it makes sense. Its fine to view him as being hypocritical this time but to label him as a hypocrite is ridiculous. It may be just semantics but I think going back on one statement does not equate to being a hypocrite. Just my outlook.

The way I understand it was that Fergie was looking to move on and told him in effect the reserves was his future. In fear of that he moved on. Am I missing something?

  9. mattbw7 says:

Yes you are missing the Beckham circus that was around at the time.

  10. Kevin says:

I do realize he had a bit of a circus but am I incorrect that Fergie wanted him to leave and told him his future was in the reserves so he left? Am I missing something? Mattbw7 – thanks for the completely useless information.

  11. Kevin says:

And I disagree entirely he was all about himself. I don’t think he was going to allow Fergie to control his career and therefore he left United. But he sweat blood for our club and helped us win major trophies. In my eyes he is a legend so why don’t we leave it at we agree to disagree

  12. King Eric says:

Wayne – Hello pal. Yes I certainly DID see the irony!!
