Here We Go Again… Another Real Madrid Fan

Despite Sir Alex Ferguson being a fan, Karim Benzema has always made it fairly clear that he fancies playing in Spain when he’s finished with Lyon.

Today, however, he has claimed he likes us, but that he’s been a Real Madrid fan since he was a child. Great.

“I feel good at Lyon, but leaving before or after the World Cup is not going to change anything,” Benzema said. “I do not really watch Ligue 1 football, but I love the English, Italian and Spanish leagues. I have been a Real Madrid fan since a kid, but I also like great clubs such as Milan and Manchester [United].”

Rather than go for this lad, only for him to push for a move to Real Madrid in a few years time, let’s cut out the middle man and show no interest.

He’s a quality player, no doubt, but I don’t fancy us signing any more players who harbour feelings for Real Madrid!

Total agreement! With statements like he’s made, what Utd fan would still want him? Not me thats for sure.

  2. North Stand,Tier 3,Back Row says:

    I second that…

  3. Sam says:

i was saying this in the summer when he first said it and all the ronaldo shit was going on. The kid feel’s he deserves top class football and doesn’t care who with. How well will he play when he get’s it? He’s busting a gut to get the move doesn’t mean he’ll keep it up when he get’s it. Let Madrid have him i’d rather tevez

  4. manuniteddevils says:

I totally agree with Sam, I would rather Tevez than him, he is a good player but the last thing we need is another saga just like the one we had and probably will have again with Ronaldo.

  5. Red-Manc says:

    Agreed!

He’s a class player but the french league isnt exactly the best and he’d cost alot i’d rather have us concentrate on making Welbeck world class he’s a local lad thats grown up supporting United so no worries on him going to madrid :)

  6. Mic says:

I agree, keep Tevez!! The problem with Tevez is that he’s said he wants to go back to Boca when he’s in his prime, so spending £30 million on him we’d only keep him for 5 years, we can’t afford to mess about.

I defo don’t want Benzema, when we were interested during the summer he had no intention to come to England he just wanted Spain, well let him go, he’d cost a fortune anyway.

  7. THIS_IS_MANCHESTER says:

i kind of agree, why get a player that will be keen on a move away from OT but then again why should we only look for players that are fans of our club? i mean most players play for money anyway… but i agree with keeping tevez ahead of getting this guy!

  8. orlandodevils says:

I’m glad to see that it’s not just me who’s getting pissed over this guy. It’s like he’s pimping himself out to whatever big name club will actually sign him. And who would want to sign someone like that? Sure, he’s class and all, but why do you want to buy someone for millions who only joins your club because of the big name recognition and the top-level football, and not because he’s actually a fan or wants to play specifically for YOUR TEAM, and then leaves in 3 years or so just to get more money at a new side that fancies him? Well, maybe not being a fan specifically of your club might be okay now, but the way this guy is talking, especially considering that he’s currently in the middle of a season playing for the club that made him who he is now (Lyon), I just kind of find his comments disgraceful, and quite irritating.

    Piss off Karim.

  9. denton davey says:

His train has left the ManchesterPicadilly station. Signing Berbatov and keeping Ronaldo – with Tevez hopefully just a signature away from permanent status – means that the money that could have been used to purchase Benzema has been spent.

To me, this is rather reminiscent of the original Berbatov situation when he signed for Spurs rather than waiting for SAF to offload HorseFace to RM. Dimi regretted that; let’s just hope that Benzema similarly regrets his foolishness in re-signing with Lyon last year. In fact, the recent signing of Huntelaar by the fascists might mean that he will have no feasible exit plan and will have to stay on playing second-division footie. Tough, eh ?

  10. Ed says:

Rooney was an Everton fan,Keane was and still is a Celtic fan, Rio was a Leeds fan, and even Fergie was a Rangers fan.

  11. blindkat says:

We don’t need this guy, he’s good but come on after last summer’s bullshit we need none of what this dude is selling. We’ve got Tevez, Welbeck,Manucho(give’em time), Frazier next year. If we gotta make a move let’s go for getting Rossi back, you know he’s red, you know he’ll work and he will want to be here.

  12. keegan4england says:

Dunno if anyone has heard, but Mitchel, ex-Real madrid player who had been working with the youth team, has quit because he is sick of Real not giving any youngsters an opportunity. All Madrid do is sign players who have made their name elsewhere.

I live in Spain and try to avoid the constant tripe that is plastered all over the front pages of Marca and AS as much as I can. But most madrid fans that i know are also sick of the constant lying, the lack of opportunities for young spanish talent and the damaged image Real have all over europe. Nowadays, if a player wants to sign for Madrid, it’s purely to live a celebrity lifestyle in one of europes classiest cities. They switch managers more times then Saha sees his clubs physio and havent been a european force since the Figo and Zidane days.

If Benzema wants to join an average champions league force such are Real, then who cares? Let’s see if it still is his dream when he doesnt score in 3 games and the Madrid fans start waving their white hankeys in protest.

Sign that man from Argentina and forget about any other striker for the next 4 years. We have an array of talent coming through and a massive headache for Fergie when it comes to choosing the front 2 for the first 11.

  13. swifters says:

dont even want the guy… for all i care he can fuck off to sunny sunny madrid. he says that he has no desire to come to england whatsoever preferring real and barca but as they didnt come fallin at his feet wanting to sign him he changes his tune and suddenly united are back in his list of favoured clubs to play for along with milan and it would be a dream to play for us. rather have berbatov anyway…

benzema = one big fuckin mug

  14. suhayl says:

True why sign a guy…who’d just want to leave if he was at ours. guy would probs pull the sulk of all sulkd if ever he was dropped. And that would just create a bad dressing room. Fuck off to those twats.

To the guy who mentioned rossi….NOT good enough for us pal

Theres only 1 striker we need to sign….the guy who wears the right stuff, says the right things, does the right things, plays the right way, sits on the bench the right way, does EVERYTHING THE RIGHT WAY…

    = CARLITOS….

GILLY GET HIM SIGNED ASAP YOU MELON

  15. inmoscowwemadeit3 says:

I’ve gotta disagree guys I honestly feel Karim Benzema would be a huge success at United and would still sign him next season. To say we shouldn’t sign players who don’t support United or that will leave United is drivel. Once a player wears the shirt, gets to know the manager and pals up with the rest of the squad he’ll find it difficult to leave and if the supporters take a shine to him early on then then he’ll settle and won’t look elsewhere unless we’re unsuccessful or the club is unsettled.
We are the champions of England and Europe and are the most supported club in the world but we have to understand that all foreign players would jump at the chance of joining Real because of two things 1.) the cultures are similar and the good weather and 2.) they’ll think that playing for these cunts that they will be considered the best in the world.

Its a blinkered perception I know but its the reality of the situation. All we can is dominate Europe and all the top players will start to talk about us in the same way as they do about Real. Even Kaka who’s adored by Ac Milan and paid very handsomely harbours serious ambitions of playing for them. I bet some people on here would take Michael Owen if he came out tomorrow and said he was dying to play for us.

  16. swapnil says:

what i don’t understand is why the hell do all the players want to join real.i don’t really think they have been even in top 5 best clubs in europe post zidane-figo days.do all these footballers only care about money?or maybe nice spanish weather???i would much rather join barca than real if i have any passion for the game.real were a great club once upon a time but now they just want to buy their way to success, much like chelsea.
