Ander Herrera has yet again been asked about the future of his compatriot, friend and Manchester United teammate ahead of the game against Real Madrid.

David de Gea has been linked with a move to the Spanish club for a long time and United are set to play them twice over the next few weeks, with the Super Cup on the horizon.

Herrera has insisted that De Gea is focussed on United and that he’s determined to keep his pal at the club.

He’s a goalkeeper who can give you points and that’s very important. I want to keep him here, to play with him, because he’s a fantastic keeper and also my friend. I think you can see he’s very focused on Manchester United and he’s doing a fantastic job for us.

It’s like if you were to lose the top three in any position – like David is, like Pogba is, like Lukaku is, like Marcus Rashford can be. We don’t want to lose them, we want to keep them, and David is in the top three. For me, he’s the best in the world, so I want to keep him here at United.
