Ander Herrera came on with 15 minutes played in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Hull and was voted Man of the Match. The midfielder has spoken of his delight at the fans’ recognition, particularly after all the great players our supporters have seen before.
“I am very happy,” he said. “I am grateful because I know the Manchester United fans have seen a lot of good players at Old Trafford and I am happy. I say ‘thank you’ to them all. I try to keep working and keep helping the team. I am happy with the game, of course.”
The win over Hull was United’s best performance of the season and Herrera has credited the players’ ability to keep possession for that. United finished the day with a passing completion of 92%.
“We didn’t lose too many balls,” he added. “I think we have done what the manager wants because I heard we had 77 percent possession. This is a great stat. We are very happy and I think we played very good football because we kept the ball and had possession of it.”
