It will be very disappointing if we do not finish them off tonight!

  2. sayyidhashim says:

We need 2 or 3 away goals tonight with our strongest team then play the likes of the twins, Pogba, Smalling, Cleveley, Fryers, Berbatov, Owen in the second leg to rest the first team for Norwich

Let’s hope City draw or lose so they have to play a strong team in their second leg

  3. Fergie's gum says:

    C’Mon you devils

  4. united_greats08 says:

Another fact: Luis Suarez once played for them.

Hope that stirs some of the players’ and fans’ blood. :D

    Come on United!!!

  5. kanchelskis says:

    Q: How good are Ajax?

A: No worse than Basel, Benfica or Otelul Galati.

  6. five says:

Doesn’t matter who you play in a cup tie, if they’re up for it it’s going to be a battle!.

Rooneys got his act together, the Basel game would have been done and dusted if he was right in the head around that time but he wasnt..if our defense can do their job we have got this one in the bag.

  7. King Eric says:

    Kanchelskis. Absolutely mate!

  8. Take me to Old-Trafford says:

No matter how good they may be, I believe our lads will contain them.
I dnt see them defeating us, a draw at least, and we wil kick ‘em out at the Theatre of Dreams. Morning to u all.

  9. Jeet says:

Just wondering, what would have been if Scholesy had been around for some of the CL ties? Would Aimar still have dominated the midfield? Would we have lost so much possession when 2 up at home against Basel? Hell, what’s the point…what’s done is done. Focus on Ajax. Hurts like a bitch though.

  10. Mikekelly12 says:

Play like we can and we’ll be comfortable.

  11. Mark The Devil says:

it’s my birthday today so United are going to win, 3-0 :-)

  12. Mikekelly12 says:

Happy Birthday Mark, hope you’re right!!

  13. col says:

    They’re good, we’re better …

    United 2-1 8)

  14. kanchelskis says:

Hmmm. Complacency abounds. Let’s hope our players don’t fall into the same trap.

  15. red_bicycle says:

    Come on you reds!

  16. SirAlex'sSon says:

    Best of wishes Mark

  17. lordrt says:

I would not write off Ajax easily however, Utd have suffered against the likes of Basel recently, but I hope today they bring back a win to make the home leg a safer one, and keeping the hope to win a trophy for this season

  18. SirAlex'sSon says:

    Shall I say…I missed RoM

  19. markynorbs says:

Wow, can’t believe that I’m so excited over a europa match. Ajax are a fantastic club with great history, and tonights game has a truly magical feel about it, two european gaints on a winters nights doing battle!
It will be a tough game, but due to all the chaos surrounding Ajax which is definately effecting their on field performance’s and United having a stronger starting eleven . A United victory is a fair bet and I think if Scholesy plays he will give this young Christian Eriksen a footballing lesson, “for shore”
    UNITED! UNITED!

  20. SirAlex'sSon says:

I’m not falling for all that stat. I want this game to be taken seriously… I say, start with the strongest of our squad, try to get some early goals. If that works out fine then we could bring in youths or returning injured.

  21. lordrt says:

those of u not so excited about europa league, remember there is a trophy waiting at the end of the competition, so why not Utd to lift it in the end :)

  22. King Eric says:

Not as good as Domestos or Cif. Right I`ll get me coat lads. That was shite.

    Happy Birthday Mark pal.

Jeet. Alright mate. Simply put we would still be in Champions League. With a fit Rooney and Cleverley we would be. With the form Carrick is in now we would be. All ifs and buts. Gut wrenching isn’t it to see shit sides like Zenit and Arsenal in the Comp but not us. Oh well. I would wager had we been in it and gone to the San Siro we wouldn’t have got turned over like those goons last night. Am I right in thinking you are related to or pals with aig? If so how is he? I know we didn’t always see eye to eye but he was a good lad. Give him my best please mate.

  23. kanchelskis says:

    @King Eric

If it’s any consolation, L’Arse and Chelsea won’t be in it for long. There’s clearly no way back for Arsenal after last night, and I fancy Chelsea to get comfortably beaten by Napoli over two legs.

  24. markynorbs says:

    SAF
“I worry about Ajax’s history more than I do any particular players. I respect that history.”

    Class!

  25. Doghouse says:

I think this is a good team for us to play right now. Challenging, but not actually, y’know, that good. Even if we don’t get a result we can turn it around at home, and even if we can’t turn it around at home it’s not a competition we particularly fancy anyway. A great chance to get some of our peripheral players some competitive minutes.

  26. Jeet says:

@King Eric: Gut wrenching is about right. Ohh well, as you say, without Vida, Fletch, Clevs, and God knows who, VDS and Scholesy retired and Rooney not “on”, what do you do. Maybe there’s a silver lining in all this. If we go a longish distance in the cup, our lads will gain invaluable experience.

Whatever gave you the idea that I personally knew AIG? :) Short term memory fucked much, eh? LOLzz
Good lad though, AIG – not the most optimistic, but then neither am I!

  27. kanchelskis says:

Jesus, it’s slower than Andy Carroll on here this morning.

  28. lebomanc says:

I think united will draw against them or maybe win in the last minute… hoping for a big win though, we must smash them big time!
    Hope cleverley scores tonight
Any rumours about the line up?
    And Happy birthday mike

  29. King Eric says:

Kanchelskis. Hello mate. Its a slight consolation but still fucks me off. Arsenal were a big fat joke last night. Anyway let’s get this competition won as I would like is to be in Super cup and play the winners of Champions league. I REALLY do want to win this cup. Its a european trophy at the end of the day and the only one Fergie is missing. Just think if we DID win it and go on to win Super cup obviously that’s two pots. Win this fucking league and if we include the charity shield curtain raiser that’s a potential FOUR trophies. Ok they may not all be major trophies but I would take them all day long. If City won JUST the Europa league , or UEFA cup that I like to call it seeing as though we are in the fucker now they would without question have an open top bus parade through Stockport.

  30. King Eric says:

Jeet. Ha. No my short term memory has improved somewhat since my two month abstinence from the green stuff! I don’t know mate I thought you were cousins! His cousin DID come on here and for some reason always thought it was you. I am losing my mind clearly!

  31. lordrt says:

well said King Eric, lets hope the lads give their best and take United forward towards another trophy

  32. Andooo says:

Just as excited for this match as I would of been for a champions league knock-out game! Hope he gives the nod to young Cleverly and Pogba. Especially the latter, the kids been on the bench for the last 2 months; he’s bided his time enough. Unleash him and see how he fairs against one of europes top young talents in Eriksen.

  33. kanchelskis says:

    @King Eric

If City won Europa and then Super Cup, it would undoubtedly be branded a ‘historic double’ – even if they’re technically played in different seasons from each other.

  34. WillieRedNut says:

King Eric – A big fat joke? Sounds like Jo Brand. Morning Reds!

  35. Costas says:

Time to remind Europe of who we are. Because we haven’t done so since the Ch.League semi finals.

  36. ahjs says:

Want to win this trophy too but am just looking forward to enjoying some European football. The Champions League is hard to enjoy, it’s tight and tense and hard to enjoy sometimes – winning is often a relief, losing devastating. There’s not as much riding on this so hopefully I can relax and enjoy it a bit more (if this makes sense?)

Ajax are a proper club (who still produce and nurture top players, just can’t hold onto them) and the next round should be against Bilbao who have one of the most interesting and innovative coaches anywhere in the world as manager. They also have a squad comprised only of local players to their region. It hurts to not be in the CL but I’m looking forward to a different type of adventure. The CL is the same thing, year in year out.

And I’ve always liked the actual Uefa Cup/Europa League trophy. As someone else stated, it’s one Ferguson and United haven’t won so it would be nice to win it and if you look at the most successful teams in the competitions history it ain’t bad: Juventus, Inter and Liverpool.

  37. Take me to Old-Trafford says:

    ‘historic double’ lmao. Poor Shitty.

  38. alyano says:

so, which team VDS would hope to win? lol

  39. WillieRedNut says:

DDG, Rafael Rio Smalling Fabio, Valencia Carrick Clevs Young, Rooney Hernandez.

Not sure about LB? Fabio does need a game imo. 3 1 United

  40. Dakduivel says:

Ajax sadly, are very poor this season. Dealing with lots of injuries the lineup tonight is nowhere near the strongest Ajax could put out. Those injuries include some of the most important players such as Sigthursson, Enoh, van der Wiel, Jansen and Boerigter who, when fit, normally are in the starting XI. Especially Boerigter and Sigthursson are a real loss in Ajax’s attacking threat.

The lineup tonight will probably be something like this:

    ————————————–Vermeer——————————————-

    Anita (vd Rhein)—-Alderweireld——-Vertonghen——-Koppers (Boilesen)

    —————-De Jong———–Eriksen————–Aisatti (Anita)———–

    –Ozbilic—————————-Lodeiro————————–Sulejmani–

Vermeer: Talented goalkeeper who saved Ajax quite a few times with some marvelous reflexes, however this season and especially the last few months he’s absolutely appalling. Most fans are crying out for our 2nd choice, Cilessen, but de Boer doesn’t want to lower Vermeer’s selfesteem. Most of the time in European matches he seems to excel though and a good Vermeer can really be hard to pass. I wouldn’t count on that tonight though…

Anita: Is a pretty solid player who can also play in midfield (and he might if De Boer is willing to switch things arround a little bit for tonight). Don’t see him really upsetting the likes of Nani/Young though… He’s really small though and therefore not that good in the air. However, De Boer might go with young van der Rhein and play Anita in midfield.

Alderweireld: A young and talented Belgian defender with one hell of right foot. Scored some screamers, including one against AC MIlan in last year’s Champions League (look it up). Fairly solid defender but hasn’t got the experience to deal with someone of Rooney’s stature. Pretty good in the air though and a good passer of the ball.

Vertonghen: Ajax’s captain and most important player. Just like Aldeweireld he’s Belgian and can deliver quite a powerfull shot, except Vertonghen is a lefty. He’s also a good header of the ball and one of the few who’ll be physically up for it toinght in terms of strenght and power. Likes to come forward and plays kind of like a libero so he can help out in midfield. He might cause United problems doing that.

Koppers: A very young left back who’ll probably have the worst night of his life tracking Valencia.. Ajax’s regular left back, Boilesen, is just returning after a lenghty spell out with a hamstring injury, and although he might though a better job I don’t think De Boer’ll be risking him getting injured again. Koppers is pretty talented though but he hasn’t even got proper experience in the Eredivisie so it’ll be quite something if he’s able to contain the mighty Tony-V.

De Jong: A proper player but not something really special. Good passer of the ball and has good technique. Can also be used as a striker, good in the air and can deliver quite the shot now and then. Will have his hands full tracking Scholsey/Carrick/Clevs though.

Eriksen: The lad is really good. You can just see he’s quality in the way he controlls the ball and then delivers the ball with pinpoint accuracy. If he plays the game of his life (thusfar) Ajax might just have a chance tonight. Can dribble, score, create and pass. He’s pretty lightweight though and physically I really don’t see him being up for it.

Aisatti: Talented player who’s pretty similair to Eriksen. I don’t know if he starts because with Eriksen and de Jong next to him, Ajax’s midfield is likely to be overrun. There are not a lot of other options though so it’s not that unlikely. Just like Eriksen, he’s a very creative player though not quite on the young Danish level. Anita might play on his position. He’s phisically more up for it and can act as a defensive midfielder.

Ozbilic: I’m not the biggest fan of this lad to say the least. He’s fast, got a decent left foot, can dribble but I really don’t see him upsetting United’s defence. Last time I saw him play, he took a corner, couldn’t get the ball up and put it directly over the backline: goalkick for the other side. Really poor but to be fair; I’ve seen him play some solid games.

Lodeiro: Really small fella who’s able to play between attack and midfield and setup other players. Might get subbed for Bulykin, a classic strong Russian striker who might cause problems for United. Although I really don’t see that happening.

Sulejmani: He’s the one who should be at his best tonight. Leftfooted winger who can dribble past players. Costing 16,5 million euro’s you might think he’s a top notch winger. Sadly, he’s not. I’ve seen him done some great things on the pitch but for that price you should and may expect more. When on fire he could cause young Rafael some problems though.

But really against this Ajax, United should win by a good margin. I really don’t see Ajax competing tonight. With a fully fit team it would’ve been very hard, with this team it’s almost impossible.

Looking forward to the game, it’s been a while since the most beautiful teams of the world played against each other!

    SAF says he’s watching Ericksen
Portugoose sources say we have reached gentlemens agreement for Nicolas Gaitan
Mario Goetze’s agent throws United into battle for Mario.

To be honest, Im still waiting on Sneijder, The Fly was to accurate to dismiss. 8)

  42. smartalex says:

    Wow Dakduiwel! Thanks mate!

  43. Jeet says:

@Dakduivel : Thank you – that was very informative. I hardly get time to see non-United footy these days, so that’s really appreciated.
That’s the romance of European football – you play the epl guys every year, know them in and out. European football is quite refreshing – different styles, different players, atmposphere is usually tops. Love it!!

  44. Sandeep1878 says:

    Evening reds,

we dont have to be over confident in this game,

but off late we have played enough big games and come out good in them so i cant see us coming without 3 points tonight..

    we will win this one..0-2
Rooney and Valencia to score :)

    ###

    King Eric,

    I m all good buddy :)

Yup cant wait for the game..

    we gonna beat them..

    Scholesy to start the game!!

as u might know by now, my laptop has crashed,

I would text you during the game :)

    good day pal.

  45. King Eric says:

Willie. Now then mate. Yeah I pretty much agree with that line up but feel Amos may get a game? Jonesy also. Fabio at left back but could well be Fryers but will go with the former. Nani on right. Tom in middle with Carrick whose european experience is invaluable. Young on left and the two you said up top. Just cannot see Fergie starting both Tom AND Pogba.

    Ahjs. Spot on pal.

Clint. Alright fella. Fuck me. That’s a LOT of players we are after. Wasn’t too impressed with Gaitan. Aint seen fuck all of Goetze BUT do like Eriksson. Saw him in under twenty one tournament and he is a great player. Didn’t he score against Ingerlund for full side too?

  46. gaz says:

so we have another Uruguaying cunt claiming what the greasy Triangler headed prick did on Saturday was right and took “balls” fuck me this guy Lugana who plays for PSG wud wanna fuck right off out of it the fucking Pot Noodle looking prick. Balls to do what exaclty? walk past a man and not shake his hand? if that takes balls then your balls must be size of fucking really microscpic ant balls or some shit fucking turnip faced basterd. Slugano you are offically joining gazs Cunt list you fucking distanable mis creant faggot.

  47. red puma says:

    clint:

conspiracy theory behind Goetze’s agents words:-
naming united in the mix was just to alert city so that they come with all bags full of money, bid for him big, pay him more and as we all know the more a player earns the more commission the agent gets…………. smart agent, eh???? :P

  48. Jeet says:

@KE: Agree about you assessment of Gaitan, Goetze and Eriksson. Hazard is another one that I genuinely like. But, my biggest question is “Can any of these guys play a 4-4-2?” Most of these guys seem 100% attacking midfielders with very little defensive responsibilities.

  49. Costas says:

    @gaz

Don’t get me started on Lugano mate. I’ve heard a lot of crap in Suarez’s defence. This guy tops the lot just by saying that Suarez went through a lot because of Evra.

It’s a wonderful country overall, but Uruguay has really produced some racist twats.

  50. Red Nation says:

    Im going with a line up of;

    De Gea
    Rafael Rio Evans Fabio
    Park Carrick Scholes Young
    Rooney Hernandez

    Scholes for Clevs
    Young for Nani
    Hernandez for Welbeck

It would be nice to see Fryers or Pogba.

  51. Dakduivel says:

Ajax’s Lodeiro is also an Uruguay and a mate of Suarez.

  52. ClaytonBlackmoresTan says:

At Gatwick, about to take off for the Dam- come on you Reds!

  53. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

    King Eric –

Gaitan who? Can’t really remember the lad, so I don’t think we’ll go after that one. This Goetze boy is good, german and blah blah bloo, but I can’t see us linked with this overrated lad plus with his price being inflated to the level where he’s worth more than the likes Nani,David Silva etc…we would be dragged into a transfer battle with Real and only one wins, the Virus. The Ericksen kid looks a gem, he did score against Ingurand, plus guys like Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lumpard was impressed by the dane kid.

    Jeet

Hazard, don’t like him, don’t think he’ll ever join us. The thing is Young is poor defensively just like the other names linked with us, but I reckon he’s been told to Defend or get the boot. The same will apply with any new potential signings. At Manchester United, we demand a very high work-rate. Look at Berbatov, it took him a while to adjust to United’s non-stop pressing. Now everytime we see Dimi, he’s running around chasing, shoving, barging, winning loose balls and defending during corners.

Defensive duties won’t be an issue, if they don’t defend fuck off . :P

  54. Saad says:

We just need to maintain possession and be wary of their breakaway speed. We should win this 2-0, 2-1 at worst.

  55. ClaytonBlackmoresTan says:

At Gatwick, about to take off for the Dam- come on you Reds!!!

  56. Saad says:

    Kanchelskis

    Well put @9:50.

  57. Jeet says:

@CBT: Could you or anyone from RoM who’s travelling post an account of the the day’s festivities at The Dam? Just that I love that city, and would give an arm and a leg to be there tonight….:(

  58. theboogeyman says:

ClaytonBlackmoresTan- Lucky bastard! Have fun mate!

King Eric, willie- Morning guys. Shit jokes always a good way to build up to a game in Europe!

Tonight’s game is a game we should win with ease if we play a decent team, but then Galati and Basel were supposed to be easy too.

BTW KE, AIG is on Twitter, dunno about if he’s anyone’s cousin or not though lol.

  59. WillieRedNut says:

Jeet – To be honest mate, if you’re buying a AM, you’re not buying him for his defensive capabilities. Take the point about playing in a 442 formation. Fergie has proved to be flexible with his formations. This lad Gaitan has been linked with us for a long time. If the boss says he’s the one, I’ll go with it. The summer will reveal all!

  60. WillieRedNut says:

Boogeyman – Hello mate? AIG on Twitter? Still negative? ;)

  61. kanchelskis says:

    @Saad

Thanks buddy. I just feel some fans might be taking this a tad lightly. As I said, as long as our players aren’t falling into the same trap, that’s OK.

  62. theboogeyman says:

Mark- Have a happy birthday pal, United to win it for you!

  63. Sandeep1878 says:

  65. WillieRedNut says:

    http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/16022012/58/premier-league-attwell-demoted-premier-league-list.html

Attwell demoted from the premiership? Any chance Atkinson will follow suit? At least Attwell is less experienced of the two. Whats Atkinson’s excuse?

  66. Dakduivel says:

There have been reports of that here. Apparantly some Ajax hoolies wanted to fight with the United supporters. There were also reports that there are hoolies from the Belgian side, Anderlecht, who want to fight United lads. Sad to see this happening. It’s not new though, during almost every European fixture here there are scuffles between sets of supporters.

  67. Sandeep1878 says:

    Giggs12,

    hello mate, how’s tricks?

I m sure these arrests will act as motivation for ajax supporters and we can expect lot of noise from them..

not the best thing to happen i say..

but i m confident of overcoming any hostile atmosphere today..

  68. Mikekelly12 says:

Holland still in the stone ages of hooliganism! ClaytonBlackmoresTan is on his way, he’ll sort the tulip twirlers out!!

  69. theboogeyman says:

willie- All referees are shit, some more than others. Except Pierluigi Collina, he’s a boss.

  70. Dakduivel says:

The supporters club of Anderlecht is befriended with Ajax’s so they want to fight side to side againts the United lads. I really don’t see why because I know that United played Feyenoord Rotterdam, Ajax’s Liverpool in terms of rivalry.

I haven’t been in the city centre yet today but I spoke with a mate of mine who works there and there are lots of Reds in town. There is also alot of police (control/anti-riot) after initial reports that there could be fights and lots of United supporters who don’t have a ticket for the match. I don’t expect further violence, apart from maybe a incident here and there.

  71. Jeet says:

@Willie: I can’t think of how many purely attacking mfs we have played in recent times. Even so called attacking midfielders in United have some defensive responsibilities and vice versa. You talked about flexibility of formations – I am not a big fan of switching tactics and formations every now and then. I do believe that we should think of ditching 4-4-2 for good. Just my opinions (with reasons behind it, but subjective of course!)

  72. Dakduivel says:

In addition to the Feyenoord game: I remember that there were fights back then between United and Feyenoord fans.

Fucking pointless violence… Hopefully there’ll be none of that and we’ll have a great game.

  73. Touché says:

It truly is a hideous intro, the Europa League one.

  74. FletchTHEMAN says:

I hope we get a professional job done at Ajax. They will play very hard to get a result.

Outside the stadium is another thing though. Stories breaking of arrest of up to 60 fans who were planning to do our traveling support ill.
God save us all. Probably all former ultras looking for one last banger ..

  76. Mikekelly12 says:

These planned attacks obviously werent planned very well!!

  77. samuel - united WE stand says:

Jury is still out on ashley young in my view. The question posed to him before he walked through the doors of old trafford was, “Can he step it up into a very high level”.

To be fair to him, he started the season well but he has looked distinctively below par in a lot more games he has featured in. Of course he’s had one or two injuries but he hasn’t inspired me to think he’d ever be a true class match winner for united.

When he signed, i never felt he’d be better than what we have already and that’s already been proven.

Of course i’m not writing him off but he’s an experienced player in the premier league so i expected him to kick on immediately he joined. Yes the injuries haven’t helped but i don’t think he’ll be afforded as much time as a talented player bought from another league or a youth player.

Time will tell, he may well prove me wrong and i’d definitely put my hands up if he does but i wouldn’t hold my breath. I hope he comes good eventually.

  78. Arjunited says:

a start beckons for fabio after a long time. will be nice to see the twins on either side wreaking havoc with tony and nani/young.
eriksen and sulejmani will be their key players, the ones to look out for. hope we go all out and kill them asap in front van der’s eyes. :D
lets unleash the Pog! 2-1 win for us.
    aaah, 3 more hours!

  79. WillieRedNut says:

Jeet – I’m not a fan of 442 either. Just like to see us change it for certain games. 442 can be predictable. a 433, or 4231 would be my choice. Imagine Nani and Young in the AM positions? They would do some serious damage. Pipe dream! :)

  80. samuel - united WE stand says:

Anyway on topic. Gregory van der weil, sulejmani, eriksen are the known threat. More danger men will obviously introduce themselves in the match.

We have to be compact at the back and be ruthless up front. I expect a tough game.

  81. Arjunited says:

    Samuel,

isn’t greg van der wiel injured mate? remember reading it somewhere.

  82. Dakduivel says:

Gregs is injured but he’s an RB so I don’t think he’d be thinking about going forward so much even if he was fit for tonight. Pretty decent player although he tends to perform better when playing for Holland than with Ajax.

  83. zelh says:

I do like the 4-4-2. and his has nothing to do with being predictable.
We play the system most of the time under SAF and have always had success with it.
And I’d hate to put Welbeck on the bench to put a midfielder in.

That that’s the only crux. All the toptalents only fit in a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1.
cause all these cunts try to copy barca.

  84. philco says:

    Mike Kelly
    Tulip twirlers. Lmao
I just had a vision of Morrisey fronting up.
I’ll leave that image with you….

  85. zelh says:

or you use rooney as the main striker which I’m not a fan of. He scored many goals, but the way he plays now suits him so much more and us of course.

  86. Mikekelly12 says:

    Philco
Haha, the great Manchester icon that is Mozzer. He’d be duelling the tulips with his gladeoli !!

  87. philco says:

    Mikekelly12
I’m not sure how he would do in a scrap though. Still, hopefully the dutch will all leave at half time, totally dejected.
    4_0 to Utd.
    Cmon you reds!!!

  88. theboogeyman says:

willie- He is on twitter, but I reckon he’s a wee bit less negative there lol.

  89. denton davey says:

Samuel @ 14:53: Concerning Ashley Young – yep, the jury is “still out” BUT his one-footedness is my biggest doubt about his skill-package. I know, Antonio Valencia is also a one-footed winger but just compare AV’s strength and directness ! So far, AY has shown none of that – he’s “tricky”, but without the same degree of menace.

  90. xol says:

    If Cleverley plays, Danny plays.

  91. WillieRedNut says:

zelh – That’s the point? Finding a formation to fit our attacking players into a certain formation. I think in Europe you need something different. Having the players is the most important thing though.

  92. Marq says:

Ajax doesnt seem to be in the best of form, but European games can hardly be predicted by league form. They are & will be dangerous, especially with our suspect defence.

About the discussion on Hazard, Goetze, Gaitan and Eriksen, this is my take.

Hazard in my view is overrated, does not see anything special from him, even in the glorified world of youtube

Goetze seems like a poor man’s Ozil, except he is more expensive

Gaitan performed well in the games against us, showing good pace and good left foot

Eriksen is more of a central midfielder compared to the above few, who tend to play nearer to the wings. Reminds me of Kaka actually. Only complaint is that he seems a tad light weight

  95. smartalex says:

    Come on United!

  96. denton davey says:

Marq @ 16:42: i’m less impressed with Gaitan and much, much, much more impressed with Goetze than you are.

I’ve seen SuperMario play on four/five occasions ( on the telly ) and he’s the real deal but not really comparable with Mesut Ozul. Actually, the current player whose game is most comparable is none other than WeeWesley, but SuprrMario is faster.

  97. Costas says:

A line up has already been leaked:

DDG – Jones, Rio, Evans, Fabio – Nani, Carrick, Cleverley, Young – Rooney, Hernandez

    Waiting for confirmation.

  98. eplfan says:

    Team announced..

Starting XI: De Gea, Jones, Ferdinand, Evans, Fabio, Nani, Carrick, Cleverley, Young, Rooney, Hernandez

Subs: Amos, Smalling, Park, Scholes, Valencia, Welbeck, Pogba

  99. Theboogeyman says:

Goetze is only 19 though, he has plenty of time to improve, didn’t he win his team the league last year? I haven’t seen much of any of these guys, so I can’t say anything about them.

  100. FletchTHEMAN says:

    From Stewart

    @stewartgardner

Hope the traveling fans give the returning lads a special greeting. Properly pleased to see Tom, Phil and Nani. Well done to Ashely Young as well. Hope we are turning the corner on the injuries.

  102. WillieRedNut says:

7 out a 11? Not bad. ;) Clevs and Carrick is one I’ve been waiting to see in action.

  103. five says:

Good selection, Jones was needed at RB since Ajax do have some good headers of the ball in there

Chuffed to see Cleverley,Young,Nani,Fabio hope they all get fitter and we finish this season strong.

A clean sheet will do, come on United!

  104. FletchTHEMAN says:

Costas Guess its confirmed then innit! ;)

What a great team sheet for the youngsters to look at. Great to see Samos and Pogba on the bench.

  105. WillieRedNut says:

8/11? Forgot about little pea! :)

  106. Costas says:

I got 9 though. :P I just didn’t expect Rio and Tom starting.

    @Fletch

Yep! Can’t remember a line up being leakes this early. I am already liking the Europa League.

  107. Alom says:

Great to see some of the boys back from injury.. namely Clevery and Nani!!

  108. Jeet says:

Fuck me, if that lineup is real, I got 10 out of 11. Does the search for the future Gaffer end here?

  109. Clint-iamyourpapii says:

Same 8/11, Damn it…thought the game was too early for Jonesy The Best, SuperNanny & Clevs.
Expected all three on the bench with Smalling,Scholes & Park to start.

    Good line up !

Has Carrick the new Keano played alongside Cleverley the old Scholes yet?

    :P

  110. iced earth says:

    great line up
Starting XI: De Gea, Jones, Ferdinand, Evans, Fabio, Nani, Carrick, Cleverley, Young, Rooney, HernandezSubs:  Amos, Smalling, Park, Scholes, Valencia, Welbeck, Pogba
cleverly carick partenership could win us the double
hope pogba get a few minutes
chicharito will xcore i am certain
1-3 to us chicharito nani rooney

  111. Stretfordborn says:

Will be close, reiterate many a fans thoughts and say we would love to win Europa cup but I really think all guns at winning the premier league is first priority. Would love to see fryers and pogba given a start or at least come off the bench to keep the lads fresher for the premier league! Fergie to mastermind a win!

  112. JC says:

    Answer: Not good enough… :D

  113. denton davey says:

Sod’sLaw – @ 16:24 I grumble about Ashley Young then he goes and makes me look bad by scoring the first goal ! He does fall down quite easily -I didn’t mention that.
