After scoring our winning goal against Wigan last night with less than a minute played, Wayne Rooney was forced off through injury. A damaged hamstring will see him out for 3-4 weeks. Whilst we have Carlos Tevez to fill in, there is no substitute for Rooney’s passion and dedication. He will certainly miss our league games against Bolton, West Brom and Everton, as well as our FA Cup game against Spurs and possibly our first leg Champions League game against Inter Milan.
How much will we miss him?

a fuck load …
Tevez needs to find some form
I think that Tevez show’s just as much passion and dedication as Rooney.
I also don’t rate one above the other.
I hope this reminds people that if Rooney or Berbatov get injured, without Tevez we would only have Welbeck (and Manucho) at our disposal.
We need Carlos Tevez at the club. He has scored some omportant goals for us last season and those goals alone should mean we sign him on a permanent basis.
Remember his goals against Liverpool, Tottenham, Blackburn, and Lyon?
Tevez will only find form when he gets time on the pitch, you cant expect him to come off the bench every now and then and play to the highest quality…It just don’t happen!!
I agree about Tevez but at the moment it is essential that CR7 rediscovers his goalsoring touch.Apart from the goal against Osaka he is 15 games without one.It is really frustrating that Wazza always gets injured when he reaches his best form. The only game i am afraid of is Bolton to be honest.Wayne was certain to have featured in that one.The cup ties are games that we can pull through without him. Then there is the game at the Hawthorns where i believe Tevez and Berba will be enough.Maybe Wayne is poised to make a comeback against his old club. You know what really concerns me guys. The injury jinx seems to have struck again.5 players out of the 11 that startes in Moscow are out.Let’s pray to God that it ends now.Hopefully Evans and Tev will be ok for Bolton. We can afford to draw that game but in no way can we lose there again.
Hw will be a loss as he is our talisman, but now there is a real chance for Carlos to step up to the plate and take his chance, I just hope he takes this oppertunity to show Fergie why we should sign him.
Only time will tell how much we miss him. We have no room left for any further injuries over the next 3 or 4 weeks, and playing 2 games a week is taking its toll. I hate to say it, but defeats against Derby and Spurs could be a bit of a blessing, especially the Spurs game. Id hate to lose out on going through to the next round of Europe, or sacrificing the league, for a run in the FA Cup…
Sorry about poor spelling and grammar, at work!
3 weeks is 1 weeks in rooney terms!
As could have been predicted, injuries to one guy create opportunities for others. So, it’s Carlitos’ time to prove himself – it looks like he will have almost a month because I expect TheBoyWonder to be back by the time UTD play InterMilan in the CL.
Injuries happen, they’re part of the game. The key to UTD’s success has been strength-in-depth; the quality of the so-called back-ups (Evans, Da Silva, Fletcherinho, Park, Giggs, and Neville) has been terrific. Only Nani and Anderson have been off their best form; Nani seems lost while Anderson is a workhorse who would play better if he played more often.
Obviously it’d be better without him being injured … however a real worry is Scholesey’s recent form … if he comes on for the last 25-30 mins then he’s fantastic, but recently whilst when playing from the offset he’s been in a bit of difficulty, especially when the oppositoin tries to get in our faces (re.: Derby & Wigan).
Overall, though, we should have more than enough to top the table Saturday and remain there.
the most important thing now is for us to scale through without dropping points at all and not conceeding. that will be achieved by tevez regaining his form and keeping the opposition in their half. i think a ronaldo back in form will also help. then it seems berba has finally started to show value for money. it will only definitely get better. by the grace of God, the injuries will end and we shall rise to where we belong. top of the table.
I agree Denton, but my point is that any more injuries and we’d be in real trouble. We have no real cover for Vidic or Evans (Neville at a stretch), no cover for OShea (Fabio isnt ready yet), no real cover for Berbatov or Tevez now Rooneys out (Welbeck and Manucho? but both unproven), and no cover for Ronaldo (no one of his quality, even taking into account his average form of late). The games are coming thick and fast, and its shit hitting fan time now…
We have Wes boys, he seems to be getting back to fitness.
With the forwards, we can always play Ronnie through the middle as we seem to have plenty of wingers at the moment.
The only option at left back is to play Evans, or at a push stick Giggsy there, but not ideal.
Uhm tevez quality player but nt a very competent finisher i mean that 1 on 1 against wigen besides that his pretty decsent but nt worth 30 mil becaus lets face it a player in hiz position lyk rooney, totti and del piero they have got that killer ball capable of a moment of brilliance which tevez does nt posses but i admire hiz commitment but lets face it ad 15 mil to that 30 u can get benzema 13 goals in 17 champions league appierences and top scorer in france and i remind u he is nt surrounded with quality midfielders united have
we’ll be alright. time for carlos to step up to the plate. Wes Brown is nearing full fitness. Neville seems to be recovering some form. We have a pretty solid midfield. Giggs can still be pushed wide if it comes to that. We have plenty of capable central midfielders Scholes, Anderson, Carrick, Fletcher (who can also play wide), Possebon and Gibson. Nani needs to be given a freer role if we want him to recapture his best form. Tosic should be coming sooner or later as well. We’ve still got Ronaldo to play as an out and out striker if worst comes to worse.
On last night’s evidence we will miss him a lot. But looking on the bright side, this might just be the opportunity Tevez needs to get back to something like last season’s form.
what do you guys think of the palacios swoop? would be fantastic for our midfield as he was excellent for wigan last night. never thought a midfield of scholes and carrick would get dominated like that.
Yea Tevez does need to find some form, but its understandable because he cant get a fluent run of games in the side, one game here and there and cameo appareances, his confidence is low.
All our front line need to find their form. Berbatov hasnt pulled up any tress since his arrival, and Ronaldo has been a bit out of form recently by his own ridiculously high standards.
Good job our defence has been on top of their game. Nemanja Vidic is surely heading for United’s player of the season with his performances this year, easily our most consistent performer this season.
I think we’ll miss him in a big way but should have enough to pull through. His impact on our game is unparalleled, the only person who comes close to influencing attacking play is Evra. (Obviously CR7 on last year’s form but he’s erratic this year)
If Tevez wants to be a United player he needs both composure and patience. If he sulks every time he spends a spell on the bench he’s of no use to us. Everyone gets their chance over the course of the season and if you don’t pull together within a team mentality you’re out the door.
I hope Berbatov begins to get more involved in overall play, his touch and skill are fantastic but he doesn’t show the drive others display. Welbeck should be given plenty of time in the cup games and if he takes his chance he deserves to become more regular next term. We’ve also got Campbell to come back in the summer with a year’s extra experience, lets hope both he and Welbeck can keep the pace.
This is were we’ll find out if Fergie will spend the last 25 million on Tevez or not…I think he’ll step up and score real important goals like he did last season for us…Argentina!! Argentina!!!! Argentina!!!!
I’m just thankful that the fixtures are quite good for this injury (didn’t find a better way to put it).
I just hope he’ll be back for the Inter match.
This is a massive blow. Time for Tevez to step up to the mark – he had a glorious chance last night but his touch was to heavy and rolled out for a goal kick.
And like what a few people have said already, time for Ronaldo to get on the score sheet (point taken about the Chelsea match).
We’ll be ok. Just need to keep the momentum going…
We will be fine, thats exactly what Carlos needs a decent run in the team. Someone has said that he should not sulk when on bench. I did’nt know he had been sulking! Injuries are part of the game and simply can’t be helped. My concern is when is Nani going to start performing? In my opinion and I know some will disagree he is simply not good enough for United.
I hope we cope. haha that rhymed.
This is tevez’s chance now.
I hope he stays so much!!
Pleeeease SAF please keep him!
I think so 2 nani should go back to portugal or go to liverpool sinc they need a right sided player
Sure we will miss Rooney but Tevez Berba and Welbeck in reserve is not a bad deal, plus play Ji Sung and Nani on the wing and you can the throw Ronny up as an extra out and out striker.
The main problem with Tevez I can see is that although a very good player, his work ethic and skills are unquestionable, he has already stated his desire to sign a four or five year contract then return back to Argentina. Suddenly the 32 million is much more of a daunting prospect when you consider there is no possibility for a return on the invesment. And as a result we get a maximum of five years service. Then consider that Benzema could become available who is world class, probably only ten million more but at the age of 22 representing a far greater return on what we put in.
I’d love to see Tevez stay but if he does we can realistically pay no more than 15 million for his services.
I agree with Salford Red, let Carlitos go if he wants and sign Benzema.
I also think that Carlitos’s agent has been hawking him round Europe hoping to get a mega deal for him, as I also think, correct me if i’m wrong, that maybe he owns Carlito’s contract. And if he can sell him for 32million, better for him. Maybe one reason SAF has not jumped at all the media hype originating supposedly from Carlitos, but probably from his agent stirring things up
Hey guys have you heard the news?Milan have allowed Kaka to talk to Shity. If the transfer goes through,it’s fee will be about 107 million pounds!I am sorry but 107 million pounds are not enough to buy 10% of the prestige of Manchester United.I am just sorry for Kaka. His high profile career all but over at just 27.
LMAo…
i agree
its tevez chance to stepu up but its better fo manucho who i think should be getting more bench starts now (HEZ 25)
chance for him to get starts in the cup ties (Plzzzzzzzz)
hopefully united will get through!
Hey, it’s too soon to tell about Tevez’ future – we are now heading into the key part of the season and Rooney’s injury gives Carlitos a perfect opportunity to show what he’s made of. He’s been a high-profile, top-notch player since he was 17; he has also been a full-timer since he broke into Boca Juniors first=team. Don’t forget that this guy has a huge, huge heart and wasn’t named South America’s player-of-the-year three years’ running because he’s chopped liver.
As someone mentioned, UTD’s next few fixtures – Bolton away in EPL, Derby at OT in Carling Cup, and then Spurs at OT in FACup – aren’t exactly “challenging”. TheLads have the strength-in-depth to handle those teams and to give Tevez the consistent run of games he needs to start firing on all cylinders.
So, while I would always prefer to see Wayne Rooney starting, having Carlitos Tevez in reserve ain’t half-bad. I don’t see his hamstring problem as any kind of serious obstacle to the team’s run to the trophies.
Having Jonny Evans, Wesley Brown, Gary Neville, and – yes – John O’Shea means that there’s strength-in-depth in the central defence, too.
Ya, the note about Kaka. It seems Milan are willing to let Kaka go, can’t blame them thou, deal of the century here. Now Kaka’s stuck in a position that feels like Milan does not want him to stay, and no other clubs can afford him because of this crazy bid frm city… Such a horrible situation for such a nice bloke
I think Tevez will excel with the responsibility (and lack of competition for places).. When he tries too hard he is ineffective, when he is angry or 1st 11 guarenteed he is awesome.
Hope so anyway!
I cant imagine Tevez will fail to deputise Rooney.. Tevez is just so immense, so dedicated and so hardworking that I dont think player with his attitude can fail.
Hardworkers with patience will always prevail.
Tevez, even when his name is only in subs list, will still be a nightmare to any opponent. Because they will always have to consider the game he will bring once he’s brought on. And you cannot afford to rest or lost concentration when Tevez is playing.
But Rooney’s loss is indeed a very very very very big loss. I hope he will recover quickly.
@ anderson8, nothing leaves man utd for iverpool except the wind that goes around.
if CARLITO can re-find his form from last season ROONEY wont be missed as much
but we will still miss him a fair bit, because when Rooney is playing, the opposition just get scared automatically
