What concerns me is that the Arabs will no doubt have promised Berb’s agent all kinds of out-of-the-country-money to make the City deal happen.

We do need a top class striker. I have been of the opinion all along that anything over £20M was excessive for a player who turns 28 in January, but there really should be a contingency here. It was obvious that Levy would have traded his right arm for another club to sell Berbatov to for anywhere near the money he was asking from us, so it was never a wise move to completely count on this without an agreed price with Tottenham. Who knows what is going to happen between now and midnight but I, along with probably everybody else here, hope that we haven’t offloaded Saha without bringing somebody else in. Selling Campbell would be out of the question if this doesn’t pan out. Come on David Gill, pull your thumb out of your arse and weave your magic…

Just to pick up on Gazzaro… Utd have flogged Saha, Silvestre, Pique, Eagles, Rossi…. not a (too) bad name amongst them?
I wonder if arms wouldn’t be raised in shock horror if Utd hadn’t won the double last season? Would there not be cries of the Glazers selling to help with the book keeping?

Thank god!! i hope berba goes to city and stay the hell away from old trafford.from day 1,i have said that we don’t need this guy and i’ll say it again…..WE DONT NEED BERBATOV!!! Let him go to wastelands or waste in Spurs reserves,i really dont care.

If Berbatov can choose between United and City, of course, he will choose United….

If he can choose between moving to City and staying with Tottenham, I think he will stay at Tottenham……

However, this story has gone too far, and there is no way back for Berbatov to stay at Tottenham, as he’s simply cannot get on with his team mates anymore. So, he’s got to move on…

However, as he’s a player under contract, he will be allowed to move only if the offer meet the price required by Tottenham. That’s why I think he will, sadly, join Manchester City….

This summer so far has been a very sad summer for all United fans. Starting with the saga of Ronaldo, which at least he’s still with us. We’ve sold so many players like Saha, Silvestre, Pique, Eagles, etc. However, no new top quality signing.

From recent games, we all can see that without Ronaldo, United seems don’t know how to score. Rooney keep saying that I’m not selfish, but never score goals for us. So, if Berbatov go to City and United fail to land any top class striker, it will be a very sad sad sad summer for us…

Patrik it seems clear by the volume of reports that United are certainly and have certainly been trying to sign Berbatov. First, Berba wouldn’t be throwing his career in the toilet at Spurs unless he was certain a team, the team he signed a jersey for, was in for him. He has asked to be allowed to make his dream move, to where, City?

I agree we didn’t need anyone, but we just let Saha go, Campbell seems soon to be leaving, if we may not need Berba but we certainly need a striker. I am afraid we have concentrated so hard on signing him, it seems unlikely we will be able to sign another striker, in a couple of hours of negotation. I hope something happens soon and I don’t see Berba leaving a good team at Tottenham, for another good team at City. He wants a big time move to a big time club cause he wants trophies and he knows the odds are on the side of United, bottom line is we need to get this done and soon, but this entire summer has been one of disappointment when it should have been a celebration.
