“I’m playing for Manchester United, how good is this?”

Dwight Yorke has reflecting upon becoming Manchester United’s record signing when he joined from Aston Villa for £12.8m in August 1998.

“You go from being pretty well-known to being public property,” he said. “The expectation level rose from the change in clubs rather than the fee itself. I had nothing to do with the fee, so it didn’t bother me that much. I coped by being determined to enjoy myself. I just thought: ‘I’m playing for Manchester United, how good is this?’ I’ve got a West Indian background and, to a certain degree, a West Indian mentality. I’m not easily fazed. The day I walked into that fabulous dressing room, filled with world-class players, I felt confident that I could carry on doing what I had done for Villa at Manchester United.”

    Good Times!

The unselfish one in a great strike partnership.

He was nearly as laid-back as I am!

  2. Costas says:

    Legend.

    For Trinidad and Tobago.

  4. Collyhurst Red says:

    @Costas

    Funny!

Let’s hope this does not start the legend debate again, life’s too short!

  5. smartalex says:

Can see by the Gaffer’s smile that he knew something great was about to happen!

    Yorke £12.8m in 1998
    Chicharito £7m in 2010
    Bent £18m in 2011

Some value in the market, need to know where to look.

  6. zactaxe says:

But, why the transfer market doesn’t make sense anymore for MU?
Selling our players all at cheap then they flourish to a certain extent elsewhere and come back to haunt us — read Gerard Pique
Buying players at a premium price then they certainly flop some time later — read Carrick and co…

Even selling Ronaldo at record price also — see how his scoring rate in RM?

    What happened, Fergie?

  7. CedarsDevil says:

    @ Costas

Hahahahaha…. Your double post cracked me up mate….

    Take care my Greek friend

  8. CedarsDevil says:

    Collyhurst Red

Seems we are both of the ‘legendary’ laid back types. If I was sipping a coffee and an earth quake erupts, I would enjoy the last drop before thinking about making a run for it !! lol

  9. smartalex says:

For those that are currently experiencing a major time warp where each minute takes an hour to pass, the early match (in 2 hrs) is Wolves vs loserpool. Early news is that Granny Dalglish appears to have a lovely new set of teeth. Mick McCarnivore is unavailable for comment.

  10. Jaandsdad says:

fantastic player for United and a great representative on sky sports as he will always defend us against that twat Jamie ABU Redknapp.

Yorke and Cole were amazing together almost telepathicly linked

  11. CedarsDevil says:

As much as I would love our Park to lift the trophy for his country as captain I will selfishly say GO Iran so we can get our player back early!

    smartalex

LOL mate, brilliant as usual ….. Wolves for a double over the dippers?

  12. Raizzen says:

    zactaxe,

To call Carrick ‘certainly a flop some time later’ is just unfair to him. When he helped us win the league in 2008, did you call him ‘certainly flop some time later’ too ? I mean c’mon, dip of form is just – I dunno, the gaffer knows best, but he’s rarely been the one who sell players simply because his form dipped. I mean if we were to listen to fidgety fans, what quality we would’ve missed in Nani etc.

And it doesn’t take any genius to figure out what happened, are you not aware of the Green & Gold campaign that has been ongoing for the past couple of seasons now ?

    Duh.

  13. smartalex says:

Thanks CedarsDevil! Good to see you in here early. I’d LOVE Wolves to do that double, Blackpool came close.
I’m hoping Ji returns with Silverware, as a boost to United. When our ever-hungry players get the whiff of glory they’ll be like wild stallions on the open plains. Nothing will stop us.

  14. Dave Malaysia says:

Dwight York cool smiling assasin. Did well for us. Love and respect .

Still man him and bosnich and jordan and sex tapes ,which im sure some u guys in the uk might have watched.

I wonder if he might coach at United.Fergie has invited Andy Cole to coach, he hasnt done so but maybe in the future.

andersblog has run a piece on what David Gill has said that we Manutd can still compete with our rivals. Interesting as always. This decade I hope will see the debt cleared.Hopefully by 2017.

Manchester United winning the battle today.

    Wigan winning thier battle today.

Aston Villa winning thier battle today.

    Newcastle winning ther battle today.

Bolton winning thier battle Monday night.

  15. CedarsDevil says:

    smartalex

Blackpool actually DID the double over the dippers mate……

    Dave Malaysia

Responded to your comment on the earlier thread buddy

  16. Costas says:

Didn’t comment on it before, but when he was on form, he was an awesome player. 12 years later and you still hear people raving about Yorke-Cole and Dwight played a huge part in making that work, because truth be told, not every United striker got Andy. Cantona can attest and Ole can too I think.

Yorke would have also made a great partner for Ruud, but…

    @CedarsDevil, Collyhurst Red

Lol, don’t worry lads. If I am going to be serious about the legend stuff, I will add the words “Manchester United” before the word “legend”.

  17. Dave Malaysia says:

@CedarsDevil: Read your comments on the other article, I beleive u, u might just order another cuppa even with tthe aftershocks. cool customer u are, lol. Take care mate.hope theres peace.

@zactaxe 10.37 : Gerard wanted to return home and we got fair price for him. He did not come back to haunt us,we just never turned up at that game. Still a mystery to me what happened to the team,Fergie says he figured out what happened but he is not telling.

Michael Carrick has contributed to every trophy we have won since he joined us.

Ronaldo wanted to leave and we got the transfer record for him,he has moved on so have we.

  18. Kings says:

Legend. I will never forget that wonderful goal at the Nou Camp when Yorkie and Cole combined. Great seeing him as a guest on Sky Sports, fighting our corner against all those ABU cunts, especially that slimey arse licking cunt Jamie Redknapp who loves having a dig at United.

  19. Dave Malaysia says:

@CedarsDevil: I hope Park wins the asian cup, retires from international duty, comes back, rest, then up gears for us .

Have u seen the kid Shinji?

  20. Dave Malaysia says:

Me thinks the gunners fans are going to pull thier hair out if the story of woodgate to arse is true.

  21. Dave Malaysia says:

Rednapp got mugged by six men in madrid. perez, valdano, were named as main suspects!

  22. CedarsDevil says:

    Costas

I agree my friend, the Cole & Yorke combo terrorized defences both in the PL and Europe, watching them was a true joy…. To my recollection their game at Barca during the treble season was awesome as many more were of course

    Dave Malaysia

I meant my response to you under the thread related to RVN lol….. Where you mentioned our civil war buddy

  23. CedarsDevil says:

    Dave Malaysia

The only match I have watched so far was Japan v Qatar yesterday, not my sort of football sadly…

A correction, my reply is in the Giggs thread not RVN! Blame it on old age lol

  24. smartalex says:

That’s right CedarsDevil! Blackpool completed it a couple of weeks ago. I’m also dazed and confused!

  25. Dave Malaysia says:

@CedarsDevil: Read it dude, good luck to you and yr family, hope theres peace, hopefully people have had enough violence. Just read Jumblatt comments, u live in a world of chess players, difficult to fanthom. take care dude.
on the other thing ,age, be ageless ,lol. be a wine ,get better always.

  26. CedarsDevil says:

    smartalex

    Makes 2 of us mate!

Off topic an interesting stat especially for those fans from the south who love mocking fans from the North… lol Total titles by North West clubs 54, total titles won by clubs from London 19 hahahahaha

    Source http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_English_football_champions

  27. CedarsDevil says:

    Dave Malaysia

Cheers buddy and again thanks for the wishes… I am actually like a fine wine, seem to get better with age lol, al least my wife sells me the thought… haha

Take care and keep it UNITED forever

  28. Costas says:

Dogleash’s first 2 contributions; Getting knocked out of the FA cup and allowing Blackpool to do the double over them for the first time I think in decades. Kenny Remain At Pool…

    @Cedars

That was the highlight of their partnership. As well as the Brondby games. I get nostalgic just thinking about that partnership.

  29. smartalex says:

Does she tell you to ‘put a cork in it’ when you’ve had a few?

  30. zactaxe says:

Fair fact that Carrick contributed for each of our past few trophys — but do u say the same for every squad member thus they don’t deserved to be considered off?

e.g. Foster “single-iPodly” won us the League Cup, does that means he shud be staying forever?

What I am saying is, somehow one way or another, MU’s transfer market acts need to be questioned
    – read, not Fergie to be questioned, but the entire club’s problem…

Why we are not getting deals like Van der Vaart? Ramsey? Bale?

It’s an open question, relating to this post where Yorke was once our one great bargain buy…

Raizzen and Dave Malaysia : fair comments, but please consider that we are not that shrewed in buying players now…

  31. Dave Malaysia says:

    @smartalex: thats a good one.

  32. Costas says:

If Carrick won’t get a new deal, this summer is the time to cash in. If he does leave, it’s been a very succesul 5 years for the club and Carrick has been at the forefront. We better find a good replacement.

  33. Dave Malaysia says:

@zactaxe: Michael is still contributing and has done well this season for us,until we have someone better to take over ,he will still be here.

The sun story is part of articles of different papers to aim at players they think are going to be shipped out. They are getting it wrong all the time.

I have commented in length about the rebuilding ,that many careers will be decided this season,
Carrick seems to have made a comeback.

Fergie will decide in the summer. He has said how he signed the group of players on new contracts cos they will grow up together and later take over as seniors in the team, keeping our team culture going. Carrick was part of this group,so if he keeps improving this season he will be around yet me thinks. At least till someone steps up and runs the midfeild better.

  34. CedarsDevil says:

    Costas

Got your point, sort of brings back good memories for me too….

    smartalex

LOL, id depends where she wants the cork to be placed mate! :-)

  35. Dave Malaysia says:

Ok me go now, calm self, be like CedarDevil, calm even when got earthquake.

    Prepare for game.

Then “operation grab the tv remote’ to watch battle.

Then hopefully me dance after game ,comeback here , and rant!!!

  36. CedarsDevil says:

    zactaxe

Ramsey? You must be joking buddy

  37. smartalex says:

That article in the Sun is called ‘exclusive’ and yet it is only a reporter clearly and unashamedly lying. His statement that Carrick will not be offered an extension is complete fabrication. If he had even the vaguest link to back his claim he’d be shoving it down our throats.

Carrick may chose to leave, very unlikely. Sir Alex will be encouraging him to sign an extension.

  38. CedarsDevil says:

    Dave Malaysia

hahahahaha, brilliant, better hide that remote before the wife gets it! And yes me go, settle watch match practise typing on english language so fans from clubs do not abuse me for coming from foreign regions and think I am ignorant. Me try hard but me also is idiot because I do not live close to Manchester as shitty fans will say to us….. :-)

Will be back for the rant as well buddy

  39. xol says:

    Zactax
Van Der Vaart’s not for UTD. Spurs are welcome to him. Main reason is SAF wouldn’t change the long term plan to accommodate him. I’d rather have Ji in that role behind a striker – if SAF ever did go for that tactic. He was great in that role during the world cup.

There’s something about having Michael Carrick in the team that brings a certain calmness. I’m sure he’d be right there with Cedars enjoying a java in the lava.

  40. fergie is the boss says:

when we signed yorke I was so delighted, a striker that is almost the complete package. And a way to say we were changing from the cantona era

  41. Raizzen says:

    zactaxe,

spot on on the VDV. 7 fcukin million! Look at all the flair and scoring shifts United could do with. And he was eager too. But sighs. Past is past. I think we’ll see some interesting development in the midfield are come next season.

Here’s hoping for things to turn Cleverly for United!

  42. willierednut says:

Great player for United until he hooked with the dragon queen. Great partnership with Cole, but I’d always have Cole ahead of him. Coley was more consistent than Yorkey.

  43. CedarsDevil says:

I bet Costas could come up with a better funny English post written in Greek style ;-)

  44. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

Agreed, Cole over Yorke (with out hopefully starting a debate! lol) One highlight from Yorke for me was his trio of goals vs the arse in that 6 – 1 win at OT

  45. willierednut says:

CedarsDevil – There was a lot of shite talked about Cole mate. It all came from that prat Hoddle saying he needed 5 chances to score one goal. People forget how much pressure was on him when he signed for United. He was powerful, fast and could score with either foot. Only Shearer Is ahead of him in premiership goals, not bad for a striker who needed 5 chances to score, eh?

  46. CedarsDevil says:

Come on you wolves (do not really like you mind you) but put one over the dippers and bring this week end to a perfect start

  47. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

Agreed again (going for a record here! lol) but seriously Cole was class everyone outside our club including the England set up always under sold the guy but as you say his goals return should be enough to shut those ABU pricks up

  48. willierednut says:

Do Liverpool even matter anymore? There a poor side, no interest in them.

  49. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

They never mattered mate, just always good for a laugh

  50. manci_yanky says:

reading this blog has been part of my daily schedule for prolly 2 years now and i can honestly say i think this is the first time i have seen dwight yorke mentioned. this guy was and still is my idol, he was a fucking cracking player and when him and A.Cole linked up there was no stopping us. i think this guy deserves ALOT more love from us than he is given. to this day, i can safely say he is my favorite united striker to have witnessed play for us, LEGEND in my books!!!

  51. smartalex says:

Fantastic to hear manci-yanky. Truly uplifting post!
    Come on United!

  52. willierednut says:

    CedarsDevil – You’ve got a point lol.

  53. CedarsDevil says:

Interesting to see that the dippers under King dog leash have actually become worse and judging by their season you would have thought that was impossible….

So cheerful I actually agreed to play Monopoly with my daughter whilst watching this bore fest

  54. willierednut says:

Make sure you pass go Cedars lol.

  55. smartalex says:

I’ve got Bill Leslie & Gary O’Reilly commentating on the wolves : loserpool game.
I’m impressed, there hasn’t been a word against United. I realize we’re not playing, but still.
We need these 2 pundits to work late today.

    Wolves 0:0 loserpool
    35 minutes

  56. smartalex says:

    Wolves 0:1 loserpool
    36 minutes Torres

  57. CedarsDevil says:

    smartalex

Got the same pair mate and I agree, no mention of United yet! Mind you, ladyboy just scored, guess it makes it more of a heart break to lose from a winning position …… ever the optimist here

    Willie

She is skinning me alive buddy lol

  58. hammons says:

combination play with Cole against Barcelona was one of the best you could ever see from a strike pair – the one-two-one left Barca absolute static …

thank you for the memories yorkie.

  59. Costas says:

    Fergie quotes on United review:

“I won’t be going into the transfer market [this month]. I thought at one time I’d like to bring in one player but that’s not worked out. I don’t feel it’s necessary to buy just for the sake of it because I am more than happy with the squad”.

I wonder which player he is talking about and why it didn’t work out.

  60. willierednut says:

    The invisible man.

  61. Toby says:

I remember buying Yorke from Villa on Championship manager a few months before he signed, Bought him for £12.5m

Over the moon when he signed, My favorite striker along with Rvn, Dimi and Ole.

  62. hammons says:

@costas: ashley young? … that is the only player that i have heard..

  63. Costas says:

    Kevin Bacon?

  64. willierednut says:

    Chevy Chase.

  65. Costas says:

    @hammons

Young? First time I’ve heard about it to be honest. I think it must have been someone outside England.

  66. willierednut says:

It was no one, Fergie winds us fans up lol.

  67. smartalex says:

Just seen on ‘Amazing Football Facts’ that loserpool have been in the Premiership since it started in 1992. Well I never… I must need new glasses.

  68. Costas says:

It was Darren Bent. But Fergie thought 18 million was a joke. He wanted to pay 30. No less. :)

  69. Red Devil 19 says:

Best player in uniteds best ever season.

29 goals and 26 assists, should have been world player of the year

  70. YorYor says:

When will people get over Forlan, Pique, Rossi, and VDV? I mean, seriously, come on. Stop looking over your shoulder and crying over spilt milk. Look ahead at all the cows in the field. And all the calves in the Academy. I saw we have plenty of fresh milk ahead of us.

  71. YorYor says:

I *say* we have plenty of fresh milk ahead of us.

  72. willierednut says:

Costas – Right mate, go and do your team hunting facts.

  73. smartalex says:

NY Cosmos just beat Sir Alex to the signing of Cantona.

  74. smartalex says:

    Wolves 0:2 loserpool
    50 minutes
    Fuck

  75. Costas says:

    @willie

The line up? What’s the point? Someone will definitely post it before me, lol.

  76. smartalex says:

I guess that the match thread will have the line-up.

  77. willierednut says:

Have you given up now Costas? lol

  78. Costas says:

Yeah, it’s arijc’s job nowdays. :) And someone else’s, but I forget his username now, lol.

    @smartalex

Will there be a match thread today? It may be too late for that now. Scott’s probably on his way to OT now.

  79. Costas says:

United team: vds, oshea, Smalling, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Anderson, carrick, Giggs, Rooney, Berba

  80. willierednut says:

    11am? Nice username.

  81. Costas says:

Got it from Mark Sullivan on twitter.

7 out of 11. I know Rio would be rested. Brown apparently is still getting his spanking.

  82. hammons says:

    who’s on the bench costas?

  83. Costas says:

Yeah him willie. Yeah it is. It’s a good time to wake up.

Correction. Rio has a groin injury according to Ben Hibbs.

  84. willierednut says:

Rio will play on Tuesday. Since we’ll have most of the ball, no need risking Rio today. Disappointing about Wes.

  85. Costas says:

Don’t know yet hammons. They just posted the first 11. So that’s the line up from two different sources. Interesting that Smalling got the nod ahead of Evans. It leaves JOS as the sole scapegoat today…

  86. Costas says:

Subs; Kuszczak, Owen, Scholes, Fabio, Evans, Obertan, Gibson

  87. Costas says:

Brown and Fletch not even on the bench.

  88. Costas says:

    No Hernandez either. Just noticed…

  89. xol says:

I know it was just a reserve game but Im sure i saw JOS nutmeg someone for an assist in the 8-0

  90. willierednut says:

Jonny redeemed himself against the vermin, lets hope JOS can do the same today.

  91. smartalex says:

9 out of 11. I had Scholes for Giggs, and Rio for Smalling.

Smalling plays on the right, Evans on the left. I think that is SAF’s thoughts.

  92. hammons says:

Thanks Costas … interesting that Wes has missed out again and Fergie said he will not be selling/loaning him out, either.

think ferguson learned from last weekend’s selection to have a winger and a full-back in the squad, but no hernandez is the shock for me.

  93. willierednut says:

Hernandez could start at Blackpool, unless he’s injured.

  94. parryheid says:

Could this round of matches serve up the same shockers we have enjoyed recently where our rivals hit the buffers.here’s hoping.

  95. wayne says:

if i was wes i’d ask for a transfer doesn’t make any sense to me the lads getting the shaft.

  96. JOSEPH says:

    what exactly has Wes done

  97. McQueen says:

joseph – it was a joke that backfired apparently, and it involved calling the manager a ‘cunt’

  98. smartalex says:

When a cunt backfires it can be messy.

  99. JOSEPH says:

I read somewhere Brown would consider retirement if the alternative was playing for another club. RVN has apologised..maybe Wes should get in there while the going gets good.

  100. Colbert says:

Wes shouldn’t be too surprised at being left out after what he said to Fergie.

  101. smartalex says:

    Wolves 0:3 loserpool
    91 minutes

  102. 11am says:

    utd website says

Van der Sar; O’Shea, Smalling, Vidic, Evra; Nani, Carrick, Anderson, Giggs; Rooney, Berbatov.
Subs: Kuszczak, Evans, Fabio, Gibson, Scholes, Obertan.

    only six subs?

  103. parryheid says:

Is this week just this week or could it really be next week?hope springs eternal.

  104. wayne says:

i just think the wes situation goes past football it becomes a matter of pride and self respect.he had a great season a few years ago as starting right back before getting injured,he’s a better back than gary.n,fabio and o’shea and is just getting frozen out.i have the greatest respect for sir alex and the things he’s done for utd but this is just wrong

  105. JOSEPH says:

Wayne..i agree.all things being said he has been here all his life. Will he get a look in next season as punishment completed?Cant be the first row..

  106. arijc says:

SAF has said that he was interested in bringing in one player, but that hasn’t worked out. Says squad is good enough.

  107. xol says:

smartalex – so that would make Messi a backfiring cunt

  108. 11am says:

personally, and i know most people will disagree with me but i wouldnt mind if he leaves.
atm he is 5th choice centre back and for me 3rd choice right back, id much rather have oshea in when rafael isnt fit. i know about his pre season antics and i dont know if it comes into play but he should know better. i think fergie is jus keeping him around after our defence injuries last season, as a just in case.

  109. willierednut says:

He also said Sunderland can win the league.

  110. smartalex says:

    xol Exactly! HaHaHa!!!

  111. smartalex says:

Looking at their midfield, does Alex miss Ferguson Much?

  112. slim says:

First wes on his way out now its carrick, the papers are doing the rounds this weekend. The way i see it there may be a number of exits at the end of the season. i recall saying earlier that someone will be axed in the midfield and i stand by it;however i’ll leave the task to SAF. Either way there’s going to be a couple of surprised players come the end of the season

  113. Passe says:

So 07-08 was just a fluke then? It’s a shame since imo Brown is a better player than O’shea.

  114. Costas says:

    Gibson is the 7th substitute.

  115. wayne says:

completely off topic but a fucked up fact add the year born plus the age you’ll turn this year it’ll come to 111 applys to everyone, thats pretty messed up

  116. willierednut says:

You’re right, that was way of topic.

  117. Costas says:

I think Ferguson had an Aberdeen player get into a shoving match with him back in the day. They were both kind of drunk after a cup win and that’s where it ended. Wes should have been left off the hook by now if the ROM story is true. Anyway, I’ll try to find the story in Barclay’s book later on.

    Right now, come on United!

  118. edwin says:

    COME ON UNITED!!!

  119. Costas says:

    @wayne.

Yeah, lol. I like the number 2, so I hope to be alive when that applies for the number 222.

  120. united.george says:

    Cmon United……..and villa.

  121. smartalex says:

    Come on United!

  122. wayne says:

i know just popped into my head and i find it pretty fucked

  123. willierednut says:

    Fucking feaky more like lol.

  124. wayne says:

@costas lol maybe my 3rd or 4th life

  125. TonyBee says:

Come on Mr. Ambition get it going

    :)

  135. MG says:

  136. TonyBee says:

with Berba scoring I bet REDSCOT has had a litle cum :)

  137. TonyBee says:

    i knee I did lol

  138. willierednut says:

    United are playing so well!!

  144. Bishopville Red says:

JOS needs to beat the first man with his crosses. Corners are a nice consolation, but do it in the flow of the game.

Goos nudge on Smalling to negate his chances on Giggs’ chipped cross.

  145. MG says:

Now now stop taking the piss out of RedScot

  153. Bishopville Red says:

Ed VDS offers sooo much composure in the back. We can pass our way out of trouble. That’s what we miss most of all when he’s out. Lindegaard take note!

Anderson is a beast in the middle today.

  155. Ash says:

  156. Bishopville Red says:

  179. TonyBee says:

rooney looks up for it…all he now needs is a goal

  180. Bishopville Red says:

THAT. WAS. BRILLIANT. Even when he falls, he gets balls. Berbatov, Berbatov!

Foster stumbling and bumbling. UNDERLINING why he isn’t United class.

  181. parryheid says:

    Top quality first half.

  182. TonyBee says:

willie red nuts…are we that good today or are Brum just shit…? I THINK WE ARE JUST MAGIC

  183. TheRadLegion says:

I know lots of hatred toward Rooney. But you all should agree that his performance was superb.

  184. Costas says:

    Sell the flop.

  185. rnicolas says:

Giggsyyyyy!! A Walking God amongst mere men.

  186. redroy says:

Nani kicks the ball out, starts to walk away, but gets a corner. Hmmmmm. I guess Ref blindness is contagious

  187. hyper23 says:

    willierednut says:
    Fucking dud! Terrible ball Rooneyhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Not the one to Giggs though.

  188. Costas says:

    @RadLegion

Agreed. Rooney has been critisized for his goalscoring, but he is not playing as a centre forward anymore is he? I haven’t seen him track back as much since the days he was partnering Ruud. He hasn’t even had a chance on goal I think.

  189. TonyBee says:

Steady Costas …lol …..Berba aint been that bad today…lol

  190. sean says:

    Ryan = fine wine

  191. Costas says:

    @TonyBee

I don’t care. Sell him. He only has 17 goals this season. He should have had 45.

  192. Mickjk says:

Hopefully this form continues in the second half.

  193. willierednut says:

TonyBee – I think we’re playing on a different level today mate. Some of passing is just too good for Birmingham. That third goal typified that first half.

  194. devilnani says:

cant believe i am missing the game. Just saw my ex-neighbour and i am chasing after her. Is the game that good?

  195. smartalex says:

    Richardson 2 at Blackpool.

  196. Costas says:

Giggs on form and rested is such a huge difference maker isn’t he?

  197. Balaji Sivaraman says:

Come on now and talk all those idiots who told Berba was lazy. The lazy Bulgarian son of a bitch scores a brace to get to his best goalscoring season and then, WOW!, shows passion and appetite to win the ball and create the awesome third goal. Some lazy idiot, he is!

Anyways, our best performance since the Blackburn mauling. We are simply irresistible and if only we can maintain this sort of form – which I guess we should because after all post-Christmas is known worldwide as Manchester United’s time – then there should be little difficulty in getting to 19. Also, Fergie, sign him up! Giggs has been amazing today and he is fucking 37. What a finish! I have nightmares thinking how much we will miss him and Scholes so much.

Also Rooney, even though some way off his best, has shown that he still has the hunger to do it in a United shirt. We are not even near the point of reconciliation (which might never happen) with him but at least he is showing the desire on the pitch which is good. Nigel Winterburn made a nice point (on the PL Channel), if that was Nani in Rooney’s position for the third goal, the pass does not find Giggs with that much accuracy. So, all he needs to do is start scoring and it will be good. Plus, words cannot explain how much of a difference he brings to Berba’s game.

  198. TonyBee says:

yeah Willie we had one part of the half when in their box and passes and back heels were working…. fucking brilliant…. Macleish must be telling his lads try and keep it under 10 nil today lads

Shame Redscot aint on here today as he would be drooling over Berbatov’s game

  199. TheRadLegion says:

You know, this “not hitting the top gear yet” is just nonsense and getting very old. When Arsenal/Chelsea/Spurs ride on their luck, they said “that’s why they are a serious title contender” but even after we:

    1. hit blackburn with 7-0,
    2. are still #1
    3. have one game at hand
    4. have been doing this constantly in the last decade and more

.. they still haven’t given United the acknowledgement they truly deserve.

  200. willierednut says:

You’re chasing your neighbour? Is she fit?

  201. TonyBee says:

    devilnani …..chasing after her what…lol

  202. parryheid says:

So far seems it is next week.

  203. willierednut says:

If Arsenal scored a goal like our third one, the media would go into melt down.

  204. TonyBee says:

come on Devil nani tell us more……

  205. edwin says:

    COME ON UNITED!!!!

  209. devilnani says:

    @tony, willierednut
She was my first crush guys.. Never told her how i felt.. She thinks me as just a friend…
She is the typical girl next door..

  210. Bishopville Red says:

How does Nani get called “a little but selfish” when he puts it on a plate for Rooney like that?

  211. willierednut says:

Rooneys played well, but he needs a goal.

  212. Real AB says:

What a miss by Rooney :o

BTW really good first half performance. Good to see fabio getting a chance to show his skills.

  215. ryan7 says:

  289. TonyBee says:

    costas …….you kebab….loo buy foster …roflmao

  290. orez says:

One of the best performances of the year. Very enjoyable and the crowd was pretty good. I thought our youngsters had a great game too. Nothing else to say.

  291. FletchTHEMAN says:

5-0 Sweat victory. Now we have to win one of our games in hand. The Blackpool game away is very important as this will be one of our 2 games in hand. Soooo important.

    MOTM Berbatov
First United player to score 3 hat tricks in one season since Ruud did it in 02-03.

Goal of the match Ryan Giggs. 3-0
Assist of the match WR10 to Giggs 3-0
Miss of the match WR10 for United, Fahey for the blues

@ Costas That 3 in a season stat is only for the Prem era I believe. Think Dennis Law did it, maybe others.

  292. TonyBee says:

sniff….how about Happy Birthday TonyBee orez

  293. M says:

if hammons wants more people to read his united religion site he would do well to write in better english, instead of putting his link in the comments of every other article on ROM

  294. The United Way says:

Was that stylish enough for you Mr Wenger?

What a sensational performance. Utterly outclassed them.

Berbatov is scoring more because he has been put higher up the pitch.

If you are Man Utd, and SAF trusts you to lead the attack … well …

van Nistlerooy, Ronaldo, Rooney, Berbatov … you are going to get goals.

His performances have been similar to what they have always been – and that is fantastic – but this time people are noticing him because he is scoring more. People know so little about football. If a goalkeeper saves, he is doing well. When a creator creates, he is doing well. Berbatov is that magician of a creator that very few teams in the world have … except this one can score too.

  295. Utd4life says:

No one can have complaints about that performance..5 Star performance from the lads..Just the kind of win to warm the boys for the Blackpool game..GGMU!!!!

p.s..Was it just me or was some of the passing from Gibbo and Smalling in the Scholesy mode??

  296. willierednut says:

TonyBee – Happy birthday mate and the lads done the business as well.

  297. TonyBee says:

at fucking last ….been dropping hints all fucking afternoon….
    thank you very much Willie

  298. Costas says:

I just hope that come Tuesday, Nani has his crossing boots back on. It was pretty awful today if I may say. On the plus side, that was his 6th goal with his left this season. 8 in total.

    @FletchTHEMAN

Yeah I think it’s for the Pr.League only too.

  299. Costas says:

Oh and how awesome was Edwin’s clearance that led to Berb’s hat trick? Quite “ambitious” I’d say. ;)

    @TonyBee

Happy Birthday mate. Thank God your hints were too difficult to decypher!

  300. TonyBee says:

    costas…lol

  301. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    300th comment with a smile

  302. willierednut says:

To all the Berbatov doubters, If you feed him, he will score. Yum yum

  303. TonyBee says:

did you get to the game GHTT

  304. FletchTHEMAN says:

Really pleased about how Smalling is coming along. Fabio did well. So pleased about the whole game. Owen on late but started to click, really believe he should get a new contract. Tell you what, if you want to look at prem hat tricks, I believe Owen has 8, kid has some quality and just needs games.

@Utd4life. Nice post mate. Gibbo has received some over the top bile at times. Some folks need to relax about our youngsters. They have quality and just need to grow into the shoes.

  305. FletchTHEMAN says:

United future was definitely on view
Excellent game from Nani Anderson, Gibson, Fabio, Smalling

Anyone know what the word on Carrick is.

  306. willierednut says:

No Gibson slagging? No JOS slagging? Surely not. Now, to the seaside. Candy floss, yum yum.

  307. Joel says:

Has any player scored 4 hat-tricks in one Premier League season before? If not, I fancy Berbatov to be the first one to achieve that this season. Magical

  308. TonyBee says:

Only diss players when they displease me ……when IMO they aint doing it…lol

  309. TonyBee says:

but they sure did it today all of them were magnificent…. be interesting what all the media have to say about UTD in the press… especially Collybore on Talkshite and Hansen on MOTD.

  310. willierednut says:

When that cunt Rooney going to score? Don’t wanna show any bias. Come on the Villans!

  311. 11am says:

  316. willierednut says:

  317. rat1p says:

wow maybe he is worth his money

  318. CedarsDevil says:

    Willie

Good comparison mate, but I suppose Andy’s is bigger! lol

  319. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Joel.
Dennis Law was a special player, Scored for fun. Scored 3 or more hat tricks in 2 different seasons for us and several other hat tricks in other seasons. Granted, a bit different than what Ruud and Berbatov have done, scoring 3 hat tricks against prem competition. Would be very special if Berbatov could do it again this season. That would really set him up for some special awards which we all know he is due!

63-64 season 6 hat tricks (2 in first division, 2 FA cup ties, 2 more in europe)
    Law, Denis – 03/09/1963 – Ipswich Town
    Law, Denis – 15/10/1963 – Willem II
    Law, Denis – 09/11/1963 – Tottenham Hotspur
    Law, Denis – 07/12/1963 – Stoke City (4 goals)
Law, Denis – 25/01/1964 – Bristol Rovers (FA CUP tie)
    Law, Denis – 26/02/1964 – Sporting Lisbon
Law, Denis – 09/03/1964 – Sunderland (FA CUP tie)

    68-69 season 3 hat tricks.
Law, Denis – 18/09/1968 – Waterford (European Cup)
Law, Denis – 18/01/1969 – Sunderland (4 goals, European Cup)
    Law, Denis – 24/02/1969 – Birmingham City

From the excellent manutdtalk site the have compiled all the hat tricks or better from United players.

  320. lawman10 says:

    none better then the lawman!

  321. RedScot says:

@ Tony bee, Happy bithday mate, dont you even think I did not read your post.I have this bastard of an attitude to read all posts. To learn and suck in United.
