Simon Kjaer has been linked with several big clubs since signing a 5-year-deal with Palermo, with Real Madrid just missing out on his signature.
Last month, reports suggested that Chelsea and Liverpool were interested in signing him, although the player has today insisted his desired move is to United.
“Man United have won the Champions League twice and need a third and Liverpool have Agger, Skrtel and Carragher,” he said. “I would without hesitation choose Man Utd, but it does not help to choose with the heart in such a situation, I am a professional.”
Since joining the Italian club, this centre-half has scored 3 goals in 22 matches and has received his first call up to the Danish national football team, after previously representing his country in the U-21s.

Man Utd News 24/7

we definitely need 1 more back up at CB.why not simon kjaer ?
Oddly, I saw this yesterday being reported as ‘Starlet wants United or Liverpool move’ or something similar. I read the quote and wondered quite how on earth that suggests he wants a move to Liverpool. In fact, quite the opposite as you’ve suggested Scott, he doesn’t want to go there (he has probably seen the farce surrounding Agger who is their best CB) and does want a United move!
Off the topic, finally a decent interpretation on why we won last Saturday.
MARK LAWRENSON: Howard Webb can’t be blamed for Man Utd title win
Apr 28 2009 Liverpool Daily Post
A FEW Liverpool fans I’ve spoken to feel Howard Webb’s decision to award Manchester United a penalty on Saturday might have cost them the title.
It hasn’t. That’s not the reason United are closing in on their 18th title.
Yes, it was a terrible decision and gave them a foothold in the game.
But the fact that they went on to score four goals after that is more a pointer to why they are edging Liverpool out.
After all, they had Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez and Berbatov on the field. They would have scored to launch their comeback eventually, penalty or not.
And it was the type of performance that suggests they have come out of their dodgy spell and are flying again.
Xyth – it’s the Reads of the day
Good for Kjaer to be a United fan. But who we sign is up to the boss.
Wazza…aren’t we forgetting Evans??? :-s
ah….sorry…you did say ’1 more’… :-p
Sorry Scott,
Should have checked Reads of the Day first.
Hm, thats sort of odd – I could swear he didnt mention United as one of the clubs he’d love to play for last night in an interview with Danish TV. Ill see if I can dig it up and see if I missed it somehow. He did highlight Liverpool in that interview aswell though, Rich – so I dont think your sources are correct.
Found the interview – he’s talking about having a good time at Palermo (loving the city and being happy there in general) but also saying (translated from danish):
“[...] but on the other hand I dont think you would ever be able to say no if Milan or Inter or Liverpool or Real Madrid asked if you wanted to play for them [...]“
Cap – http://www.tipsbladet.dk/nyhed/danmark/kjaer-ingen-tvivl-om-united-eller-liverpool
My Danish isn’t great but I’m pretty sure Manchester United is the same in both languages.
“En dag kunne jeg måske stå med muligheden for at vælge mellem at spille for Liverpool og Manchester United. Havde United kun to forsvarsspillere og brug for en tredje, mens Liverpool havde Agger, Carragher og Skrtel, ville jeg uden at tøve vælge Manchester United”
What the fuck? Hes making no fucking sense.
“Man United have won the Champions League twice and need a third and Liverpool have Agger, Skrtel and Carragher,”
We’ve actually won the champions league 3 times and what the fuck does agger, skrtel and carragher have to do with this?
and i dont want anyone telling me that im including the european cup won back in 68, because noone talks about how many ‘champions leagues’ we’ve won, and were always talking about matching liverpools record 18 titles which is in the same context.
@Scott:
Hm, right – just weird he didnt mention United among the other clubs in his interview to danish TV2 then.
Im not sure how good your danish is, but he’s saying:
“[...] if United only had 2 defenders and in need of a third, while Liverpool had Agger, Carragher and Skrtel, Id choose Manchester United without a doubt.”
To me it seems he’s more after playing time than the name of the club.
He explains this in the next quote on the page:
“Det hjælper ikke at vælge med hjertet i sådan en situation. Jeg er professionel”
Translated:
“You cant choose with your heart in a situation like that. Im a professional”
Where did you get the “Man United have won the Champions League twice and need a third and Liverpool have Agger, Skrtel and Carragher” quote btw, Scott? Like 9jmac pointed out it doesnt really make sense – comparing a number of CL thophys (and a wrong one ^^) to names of Liverpool defenders?
The fuck is he saying?!?
“Manchester United have won the Champions league twice and are in need of a third, while Liverpool have Skrtel,Carragher and Agger.”
What does one have to do with the other?!?
3 time european champions kid
pick up a history of football book and look under first english team to win th european cup
also see first team to win premiership, 2 doubles, treble, world champions (twice)
speakin of records
by the by scott how many undefeted games have united gone in europe before tomorrow
I think 23,ghtt.
sir matt bless ya theboogeyman
HE IS REALLY TALENTED AND A GREAT CB. MAN U SHOULD TRY HIM. LONG LIVE MAN U
You guys truly don´t have a clue, do you? He obviously never mentioned two CL trophies for United. The tw*t translating this interview seems to have misunderstood when he says that he would choose ManU “if they had two defenders and neened three”. How he managed to switch “Championsleague cups” for “defenders” is beyond me but that seems to be the case anyway….
@Basketcase:
Yeah, seems to be the case for me aswell (I translated the phrase were he’s talking about only having 2 defenders some posts up) which is why I asked Scott where he got the quote from.
