I loved Pique, I was incredilby sad when he left. He is not just a good player, he a loyal solid, good guy and there's not many of those around, he would have fitted into United.

The vibe Machaeda gives if the Ronaldo one without the trackrecord and gell. He is happy at United but I don't think he would want to see his career out here, i agree, he would bugger off probably but lets see I hope I am wrong but it is disapointing when you can no longer let yourself really love a player because he is making moon eyes out of his ass at other clubos - when hes at the ledgend.

"get charmed by their posse and the bling" - Denton, you are 100% correct as you are cool!
I Think he is part of that special type of modern player, from this current era. The 'plucked wonderkid'.
The English Prem, for all it's strengths, has a staying power only for those that can hack shitty weather and/or love fast-paced quality football (oh yeah).
Ron going to Real,
Pique back to Barca
Fabregarse to Barca (yes, I see the future)
Gifted players from Spain, Italy, Portugal will always love thier childhood teams & their weather, women, image...
Whereas gifted players from here fooking love it here! (Highly paid footballer? King of my manor? Yes please!)

Fabregarse is the only one from 'the plucked' that SEEMS to still be 'saying the right things' at (questionably) his peak and I begrudgingly hope that he stays at arse and falls in love with his club (and no doubt the manager) as he will be living proof that top 'med'/brazilian players can devote themselves to a prem club and enjoy their lives.
Or else the Prem will always just be a 3-8 year learning curve stop-gap for 'plucked' talent to the big 'boy's dream' clubs/countries.

Admittedly Manchester has to work harder than London at keeping young talent from abroad, but the nature of our club is unlike any other.

Will Kiko stay or will he go? In 4 years? It's a coin-toss now... Let's jjust not get too attached and appreciate the kid and the service he has and will do for the team.
I swear if global warming might mean we get Madrid weather in 4 years all year round, this club would be utterly invincible!!

denton - Regarding the "big league head", a term I love by the way, who better than to keep him grounded than the best man manager in football?

King Eric - no question that Pique would have been a very valuable member of UTD's team but the real question is whether he would be a better central defender than Jonny Evans. SAF didn't think so. But he might have been wrong since Gerrard Pique is now first-choice for the EuroCL champions and the second-best national squad in the world. To my eyes, he'd be perfect in a kind of Beckenbauer role - he big and accomplished on the ball.

About Macheda - I'm thrilled that he has been re-signed for four more years. He seems to me to be much closer than Danny Welbeck to the finished article - that may be because he's closer to being fully-grown and better co-ordinated whereas Welbeck seems gangly and somewhat awkward which suggests that he's got some more growth ahead of him. Macheda, who is of course Italian, reminds me of the young, sleek Christian Vieri - we'd all be thrilled if he could reach that level of brilliance without the baggage.

My only concern about Macheda is that he seems to be in danger of getting a case of "big league head" - rather like Ravel Morrison, if the reports about him are correct. It's hard for these kids to come to terms with celebrity and lots of money at an early age; especially when they come from really disadvantaged backgrounds and get charmed by their posse and the bling.

I expect really, really big things from KikoTheKid - and soon, too. He's what I'd call a "manster" - a monster in a man's body and his skill level is very good, too. (unlike, say, another "manster" who plays for ManShitty - Micah Richards).

I am sure Fergie had his reasons for letting Pique go. That reason I would imagine is Jonny Evans. Pique IS doing really well at Barca. Could he have hacked the Premier league?

Kiko has potential to be really great. I was at OT wen he scored that goal, everything about it was superb from a footballing point of view ( which will all due respect a lot of u sound like uve never kicked a ball in ur fucking life)
He's shown a glimpse of wat he has potential to do n under the guidance of fergie cud achieve great things.

Great news! Give the kid time, not every player can burst onto the scene at 16, although Kiko did make a statement or two at 17..
20LEgend is the best coach he could have asked for as a striker, and with Kiko's natural ability and "let's go for it" attitude he could end up beeing a first pick up front for us.

@ FusilliJerry I always thought that Pique was the one who got away. He trained with the best and is showing it. He played a big part in Barca's win on Sunday.

As for Kiko, Sir Alex will turn him into a potential Ballon D'or winner and Kiko's head will inflate even more and off to Madrid or Milan (maybe even Turin) he will go for a gross amount of money. I hope he repays Sir Alex in goals if not in loyalty.
