Fergie: Carragher Should Have Been Sent Off
EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Cantona Book Author On… United Fans, Sympathy For Eric and English Football

Its not a penalty on Carrick, Carragher plays the ball.
Look at the reaction of the Unitd players nearby, no appeals.
If that was Vidic doing that tackle, it would have been applauded.

What that angle from Sky does not show, is that Owen was also puilling Carragher. I was stood directly facing that and Owen spent far to much time tugging Carragher than he did trying to break free.
Yes it should have been a red, but that would have had little impact on the game, given the remaining time and Liverpools centre backs on the bench.

We can blame the ref all we like, but the fact of the matter is, United were 2nd best yesterday, lacked any cutting edge up front and had the wrong midfield selection.

lessons learnt for Chelsea away.

look at carraghers reaction when he is shown a yellow card.. clearly he is a united supporter, and wants a red instead

Having seen that clip again, a yellow card is the correct decision.
The ball is running away from goal and another defender is running back into the covering area.

To be honest I though Insua on Giggs was more of a foul. Players know they can get away with fouls as long as they aren't really bad in the box and it needs to be cut out instead of pussy referees who are scared to give a pen. There should never be a case that something is a foul outside the box but not inside, yet we see it every week.

GHTT - perhaps I view things in reality, not with a red tinted specs on.
In the ground I thoight Carragher should have gone, having seen the clip a yellow was the correct decision.

One thing Utd should learn to do, is be more cynical when fouled.
Liverpools first goal came from a foul on berbatov near the dug out, Utd played on and took the refs advantage only to loose the ball. We should have taken the free kick.
Carrick also had a chance late on, when he was fouled on the edge of the box, yet tried to stay on his feet and clip the ball through. We should have taken the free kick.

The reality is, Fergie got this team selection wroing, with the wrong midfield selected. he then got it wrong by taking Berbatov off (Probably our most effective player yesterday). Either Rooney had to go off, or we played with 3 up front, taking off Giggs and using Rooney on the left.

wud be nice to see a clip of every time torres fell to the ground, including how evra got booked 3 mins after he tripped himself up, after 15 mins...
wud be nice to see how berba got fouled 3 times and received a yellow in the same moment
wud be nice to see how liverpool didn't get a yellow card until 72 mins with over 15 fouls by same 2-3 people

ppl saying our midfield wasn't hot, but maybe even Fletch/Ando would of suffered a similar thing with that ref.

I dont have red tinted glasses on
but I see more right on uniteds side than anyone else
my daughter is the most beautiful 3 year old girl in the world
my daughter is very cute but I believe theres none cuter because shes the 3 year old I love
Thats how Im a manchester united fan
I love my club and I look at them in a slightly biased way
But I love football
it was a peno
i thinkwillierednut is right and there was a worse one that didnt involve carra
I think from a football side
its a straight red
and I think you just forever say the oposite of what others say to get a reply
like what Im doing
I watched the game live yesterday
I seen the way United played
Im not red tinting what I seen
but to say the ref was shit is true
to say united should of got a peno in that video is true
to say it should of been a red in that video is true
to say liverpool were the better team on the day that counted is true
If scott did an artical on this saying it looked like a peno but on replay it wasnt you'd be right on this leaving a comment saying it was a peno and anyone who disagrees with you is wrong

Carragher bringing down Owen should've definitly been a red card. No doubt about that. Owen was pulling him too, yes, but that's not really relevant as carragher's foul was as the last man. How on earth did he get away with the foul on carrick without even a yellow card? Totally absurd.

Anyway we lost because of a rubbish performance due to an ineffective team selection. Lately Fergie's tactics don't seem to be working, sometimes his team selections work wonders against certain teams, and other times, like yesterday's selection, cost us the win. Giggs shouldn't play on the left wing because he hasn't got the pace anymore. Playing scholes, giggs and carrick in midfield is outrageous, they need ball winners like ando/fletch/hargo to play alongside one of them.

At times like this I wish Querioz tactical genius is still around.

At the end of the first half there was clear foul on Berbatov on the edge of the box, but the fuckin ref didnt see.SHIT!!!

GHTT - take a look at the players reactions around the incident in the penalty area. Not one player appeals for the foul. Berbatov couldnt have had a better view of it. Even Carrick doesnt appeal.
It was a clean challenge that took the ball, it was also a lucky challenge given the area it was commited.

For the foul on owen, the ball is going away from goal, with 2 Liverpool players tracking back behind Carragher, it wasnt a clear goal scoring opportunity, hence a yellow card.

'He touches the ball but he doesn't win the ball' wtf? He doesn't even take Carrick to get to the ball, he takes the ball and then the follow through brings down Carrick. I also I don't understand how you can say Carragher is the last man. Owen doesn't have much pace, he's running away from goal, and theres 2 defenders covering.

If after Carragher's tackle on Carrick ball wouldn't have gone to Berbatov then ref would have made it penalty. But at the 50/50 decision (ref clearly didn't see the moment of the tackle) he let United continue to play with the ball. It was in motion so penalty wasn't obvious but without Berb it looked like a defitnite penalty call.

full of shite as always

not a penalty? what, just because he just got a touch on the ball which managed to do nothing to the its path of direction? that was a fucking horrible late tackle, could have been a leg breaker.

if that was vidic he would be applauded cos it would probably have meant a penalty and his marching orders.

and why would a striker want to tug a defender facing the wrong way along while running for the ball when he is 100% certain to outrun him? does carragher have some added special attribute of increased speed when running sideways that i'm not aware of? is he a fucking crab?

he held his arm out to block owen, you can see owen's left arm was held down during the struggle and he manages to swing it free just before the fall. and owen was still running steadily on both feet when carragher already tripped himself up.

the nearest defenders wouldn't have got anywhere near enough let alone do anything to cover an attack from that angle.

and the ball is running away from goal? seriously? all this from someone who actually saw it live, from an exclusive angle 'unseen on tv' and the video replay??

go drown in a teacup.

woke up feeling semi recovered. damn! back in the angry zone.

best revenge is living well. let's go on a long winning run and get back to the top of the table where we belong.

reviewing and griping isn't going to change the result. by now any true fan of football can't deny that the refs influenced the outcome to the dipper's advantage, but we need to rebound and not dwell.

we should've played better and would have beat this team inspite of all the poor officiating.

our next carling cup game can't come soon enough for me, and i think a win will help us quickly get over this gutted feeling. if united can't bounce back in the league against blackburn then we should start to worry.

cheer up lads, we will get our revenge at old trafford the next time around, and the ultimate revenge with #19! enough with the doom and gloom, let's get behind our club!

If Vidic did the same tackle just like what Carrangher did on Carrick, it would be a straight red and the LooserFools players will be jumping around appealing for a penalty.

OK look, we lost to a better team, that is simply the fact. But it was tainted by the referee. We were robbed NOT the goal BUT the scoring opportunity. You could never tell, but who knows what could happen if:

- Carrick wasn't tackled blatantly;
- Giggs wasn't fouled in the edge of the penalty area;
- Rooney wasn't fouled when he overturned Caragher;
- Owen wasn't dragged down by Caragher.

The fact that we lost we should move on, however there is no guarantee that this would not repeat in the future. Graham Poll may disagree, but I bet he could not argue with the fact that the ref did not do a good job at all. (ie: hw many fouls did Lucas and Carager commited and how many yellows did they get)

Looking fwd to our next game

Carragher committed three horrendous fouls/defensive mis-plays - on Carrick, Rooney, and Owen. This is how he plays the game now that he's lost his pace. FACT.

On another day, any one of those fouls would have led to a red card or a penalty. But yesterday the ref only had eyes for the scousers. Such is life.

I guess that SAF can't comment on Andre Marriner's vision now, can he ? If he does the FuckAll will have a shit-fit and call him onto the carpet for "bringing the game into disrepute" by having an opinion !

we're not dwelling on the what if's here, we lost. be it by the poor judgement of the referee, or our own poor game.

the point is that the fouls DID happen, blatant ones that were not called, and someone here claims otherwise on each incident you listed down.

it's like saying the beachball had no effect on THAT goal, even after watching replays that obviously shows it did.

Also, you fail to notice that when Carragher makes that tackle on Carrick, the ball rebounds off of Carrick's foot and stays right in front of him. Thats a perfectly good tackle.

Glen Johnson would easily catch up to owen, so it wasn't a clear-cut scoring opportunity, just like Evra would have caught up to Kuyt. Vidic and Carragher both got yellow cards. Correct decisions.

My issue with the carragher yellow card is that in the 1-4 at OT, vidics red card was for an almost identical foul (except there is a further back covering defender) watch it
here

If this is a red, Carraghers is a red. Also carragher had already pulled down rooney after rooney turned him just inside the liverpool half when caragher was the last defender. Also carragher had clattered rooney in the 11th minute by going to ground 2 footed on him to stop a united break. Both of these could have been yellow cards in themselves, not to mention the other fouls he comitted.

The argument for the referee is based on the 2 or 3 big decisions (carra's yellow, carricks pen appeal, vidic's red) which can all be argued to be correct(not that i agree!) but it wasnt just these big decisions, it was marriners general performance throughout the game which disapointed, the sucession of fouls he let 'pool players get away with. Carragher should probably not have been on the pitch to bring owen down!

Yet the media have lauded carraghers performance as wonderful. fucking ABU society!
