INJURIES: Nani and Valencia Update

Antonio Valencia was due to play in the Reserves’ gave against Blackpool this evening but the pitch was deemed unfit. On Monday, he played a full 30 minute each way game against our youth team. He is now set to play for the Reserves against Sunderland on March 17th.

Nani is out for 10-14 days, meaning both could be back in time for our game against Bolton.

  2. Ryandunny says:

Who are we going to play on Saturday so? Is Park fit yet?

  3. Alom says:

    good stuff

    “a fukk 30 minute”

    lol

  4. Gorse Hill Red says:

Nani on one wing Valencia on the other, surely this will be enough for us to get 19, surely. Watch the The Dippers lose to Arsenal in a repeat of Chelski last year. Those classless scum will drop to any level to stop us. Filthy bastards.

  5. Sir Ryan Giggs says:

Thats great fuckin news!! Cant wait to see both of them in action together.

  6. Sir Ryan Giggs says:

I think Tony V will get us across the line for our 19th!! COME ON UNITED.

  7. lidija says:

who’s gonna play against arse and Marseille- bolton tooooo far away…We’re in deep deeeeeeeeeeeep trouble. What about Park????????

  8. Briggsy says:

I thought the reserve game against Blackpool was on? I’ve just seen an line-up and Valencia wasn’t added. Or is that old news? Who am I?

  9. RedBlood says:

Briggsy.Watching the reserve game mate.Valencia is not playing because of the poor pitch. Was deemed too risky.

  10. lidija says:

    Briggsy

Valencia is not playing, Obertan and Bebe plays- I hope Sir can do some magic and produce a strong team vs Arsenal,we need Ando,Park and all others at their best or…..

  11. Zelh says:

Giggs and Fletcher on the wing.
Ando and Carrick in the center.

  12. Mancunian4ever says:

The same old story, injuries mounting at the end of the season, where is Park and Anderson for God sake!! did you see guys how Arsenal were torn apart ?hhhhhh that is our only fucking BOOST!

  13. time says:

Well we have a lot of injuries. We haven’t bought any players in, dispite the fans wanting us to. So now we have to use our back up players, otherwise why are they at the club. The youth and reserve players have to get us through. And please drop Rooney he is rubbish and plat Berbatov.

  14. Sir Ryan Giggs says:

@ RedBlood: Are Tunnicliffe,Pogba and Morrison involved or even on the bench??

  15. Briggsy says:

Cheers Lidija and RedBlood. I get easily confused :)

@Sir Ryan Giggs – None of them were mentioned in the line up/subs.

I can’t find any news on the Nani injury. Where did you get the info Scott?

  16. bruce thomas says:

Rooney and Carrick = waste of space.

  17. RedBlood says:

Sir Ryan Giggs. They are being saved for sunday’s youth game with little scouse cunts.Massive game that.

  18. RedBlood says:

    RESERVE GAME NEWS

UNITED equalize.Norwood free kick, own goal by blackpool player.1-1.

  19. jb123 says:

We have to play Giggs and Rooney down the wings , we have no choice guys :( park, Tony, nani all out is a massive problem as united usually use the wings as the main source of their play and we cannot afford to play bebe or obertan against arsenal or Marseille cos their form is lacking badly ! My team would be …..

    VDS
    Rafael
    Vida
    Smalling
    Evra

    Giggs
    Fletch
    Carrick
    Rooney

    Hernandez
    Berbatov

  20. RedBlood says:

Charlie Adam bossing things.Bebe and Obertan still don’t look concincing.Bebe just can’t seem to even beat his man.

  21. Sir Ryan Giggs says:

    Redblood:

Yeah massive game that one. Hope we smash them and make up for our loss to the scum. Good freekick by Norwood. Blackpool seem to be playing more of their full team.

Just saw the half time highlights.

  22. kanchelskis says:

If they were both back for Bolton, that would be mint. Not least cos I’m going to that game.

  23. StatesideAussie says:

@time … of course we’ll have to use our back-up players lol. What the fuck else would we do? The trouble is that people expect us to have a squad of 25 superstars, all of first-rate quality, and that isn’t ever going to happen. People expect us to have “back-up wingers” just as good as Nani and Tony V, so that when Nani and Tony V get injured, the back-ups can come in and the quality of our team won’t suffer, But think about it: if we had back-ups just as good as Nani and Tony V, why would they want to stay with us as back-ups when, with that quality, they would walk into any other starting line-up in the PL, and most other starting line-ups in Europe?

  24. Drogahnus says:

Ahh, shit. No wide players for the weekend? :|

  25. Sir Ryan Giggs says:

    Good save!!

  26. Tomo1982 says:

RedBlood – or maybe for a place on the bench on Saturday??!

Wishful thinking I guess, I’m just getting impatient to see if these lads can make an impact at the highest level. Our bench in recent week’s has left me feeling a little uninspired shall we say, and I’d love to see some new faces just to mix it up a bit. Doubt it will happen but I reckon they deserve a shot.

  27. Sir Ryan Giggs says:

Did I just hear Petrucci is on the bench??

Hopefully he will get some game time!

  28. Costas says:

Its a shame for Antonio, but with Arsenal quickly becoming the new Stoke in terms of tackling, it’s best he doesn’t make his comeback on Saturday.

Great news about Nani. If he makes it for the Bolton game(imo the most important game this month), then that’s a bonus.

Oh and no news doesn’t mean bad news. Park should be fit ove the next week or so.

Against Arsenal, I’d keep the spine of the team strong (with Carrick, Scholes and Gibson) and play Obertan and Fabio on the wings.

  29. Corea says:

    Inside info from Scott :-P
    Hope this is accurate.
Heard some news earlier in the day Tony could be involved in the Arsenal game. I guess now it’s certain it won’t be the case ?

  30. Sebaveron says:

My team to play arsenal, if Nani,Ferdinand,Park,Anderson etc is unavailable,

    Van Der Sar

    Rafael Smalling Vidic Evra

    Carrick

    Fletcher Rooney Giggs

    Berbatov
    Hernandez

My favoured line up rather than use the ineffective and inexperianced Bebe and Obertan in a 4 4 2.
Who has giving any thought to using Rooney in a central midfield role? i would not be surprised if in time we see him deployed there.

  31. Saad says:

Wait a minute…Charlie Adam is playing in a reserve game??? Why?

  32. kanchelskis says:

    Saad

Got to keep fit and active during a 3-game suspension.

  33. Sir Ryan Giggs says:

King is a good player! doing well.

  34. Saad says:

    @kanchelskis

    Thanks mate.

  35. willierednut says:

Valencia will probably make the bench on Saturday.

  36. Toby says:

Told you Nani wouldnt be out for more than 2 weeks. Same type of injury happened to me, was fine in 2 weeks.

  37. Corea says:

willierednut – it would be great. hope he gets couple of competitive minutes some time during the second half. Then 90 minutes against Bolton why not.

  38. Saad says:

    @Toby

What about the strength of the area in which the injury happens? Won’t it be tender. I always get the fear that another knock on that spot or a pull of the skin will rip open the flesh.

  39. stretfordend_ryda says:

awww heard he wud be back for arsenal at weekend!

  40. RedBlood says:

Tommo1982.Place on the bench? The game on Sunday against the Scousers is a massive on for them.Plus it’d be a tad too early throwing these kids at the deep end.
Sir Ryan Giggs.Yeah mate. They are in form and have a couple of good players. It will be interesting.

  41. willierednut says:

Corea – Hope so mate. The club will take their time and probably ease him back into the first team. Not long now, till we see Park, Valencia and Nani in the team again.

  42. gerkeo says:

Let’s hope toni v can bring out the old rooney

  43. RedBlood says:

Have to say Bebe’s looked good in this half.

  44. Tomo1982 says:

RedBlood, maybe so mate, as I say I’m just very excited to see these lads breaking into the first team!

  45. Corea says:

willierednut – Park’s return will be a major boost. Each to their own but it’s for everyone to see how important he has been in the big games.
Yes, they won’t rush Valencia. It’s an FA Cup game, we are short of wingers but it’s still an 11 vs.11 game and Tony is returning after a very serious injury. I guess we will see Rooney on the left again ? Maybe some change in tactics or use Fabio there. We’ll see. It should be a very nervy and tight game and we need all the support the team can get from OT faithful as well as the response from players.

  46. Sir Ryan Giggs says:

@ Tomo1982: I think next season they will be slowly but steadily drafted in with the 1st team.

  47. Ryandunny says:

Ughhh…. just had to have another Berbatov argument online….Thought I was finally done with those…but it seems some people will never come around!

  48. Goon says:

We are now set up to win the league. Barca outstanding.

While Man U and Chelsea get bogged down in the CL we will wipe the floor with yous lot and win the league!

  49. CJ7 says:

Really looking forward to see Valencia back. Hope that mentally the injury hasn’t impacted him too much. Watching Barca last night would make you right whatever cheque it took to get Iniesta. The guy is a genius.

  50. Ryandunny says:

    Goon

Ok after the beating you’ve just received by the hands of Barca it’s expected you would be a bit delusional!

  51. united.george says:

reserves lose 2-1, damn white shirt curse again!

I think we will only wear it one more match, away to arsenal….

  52. Saad says:

    @united.george

    There’s also West Ham away.

  53. willierednut says:

    Goon – Wrong thread, doughnut.

  54. bchilds says:

Great news on Tony V, hopefully by the end of the season he’ll make a few subsitute appearances for us. Give him a full pre-season and he’ll be back to normal next season fingers crossed.

  55. gerkeo says:

@goon, you honestly think ye have the stones to win it? Honestly?

As Martin keown said last night ye’re only still in it cause united haven’t pulled away.
Park and Valencia back fresh in march, we’ll kick on to 19.

  56. Goon says:

Man U are shadow of what they were a few years ago.

I admit we are a two man team, Fab and RvP take the Arsenal up to a higher level. If those two are fit then we can win the PL. Our defence is not as bad as Journos make out, look at the PL stats.

So, as you lot and Chelsea drop points after strenuous midweek efforts in the CL we sneak the PL.

    Easy.

  57. Costas says:

    What a goon.

  58. perkythered says:

but here is why we will beat the gooners to the premiership:

    Comparison of remaining games:

    (a) where United have an advantage:

United play Bolton at home; GOONERS play them away
We play Fulham at home, they play them away
We play Blackpool at home, they play them away
We play Everton at home, they play Liverpool at home
We play Newcastle away, they play Spurs away

    (b) where the gooners have an advantage

United play chelski at home, gooners play villa at home
We play the gooners away, they place us at home

    © unsure how to weight:

United play west ham away, gooners play stoke and west brom away

Plus they have to win their game in hand to draw level on points

Plus: We can look for favours from:
    City: who play chelski away
Scousers: who play arsenal away and city at home
Spurs: WHO PLAY THE GOONERS AT HOME, CHELSKI AWAY, AND CITY AWAY

  59. Goon says:

Gerkeo – Man U are only in it cos Arsenal have not pulled away.

Gee what stupid thing raised by an ex Arsenal man.

  60. Goon says:

Perkey – the nub of it is that you will probably have say, 4 more CL games to play than us; and maybe 1 more semi-final (you are playing us at OT so you will get all the decisions).

Injuries and fatigue will do in your OAPs, Giggs and Scholes. Bear in mind that Fergie is now cantankerous.

  61. StatesideAussie says:

Goon … “Bear in mind that Fergie is now cantankerous.” er, I think it’s our opposition who need to bear that in mind.

  62. Costas says:

You know, there are psychologists in case someone deals with depression and insecurities. I don’t get why ROM is used as a platform for every goon that doesn’t have faith in his team and is trying to convince himself otherwise.

  63. Goon says:

StaesideAussie – I’m surprised you’re are not from South London. lol.

  64. Goon says:

Costas – I am feeling great as I have been saying to all my mates that its best if we are out of the CL.

  65. willierednut says:

Yeah, if Fabregas and RvP had of missed that game last night, you might have went through.

  66. Costas says:

    @Goon

Maybe, but that’s not the way it works. And if Arsenal have proved anything over the years, is that they find it hard to recover from the blow of getting knocked out of a competition.

I remember hearing something similar in 08 after they Liverppool knocked Arsenal out of the Ch.League and then they lost at Old Trafford by surrendering another lead.

It all depends on each team’s bottle at this stage. And even though United haven’t dazzled this season, they have more in that department than Arsenal imo.

  67. gerkeo says:

At least Eduardo moved on to a team capable of progressing through the champs league, and the gooners thought he was sad leaving them.

  68. StatesideAussie says:

    lol@willie.
@goon, is that meant to be an insult? I really don’t know! But although I’ve never met Fergie and never will, he strikes me as one of those rare breeds who actually become more effective when the fire inside starts to burn and rage. Most people, when they get angry, become less effective. They are blinded by their rage, and therefore say (and do) silly things, things that ultimately become counter-productive. In sports, it means that the players become demotivated and demoralized, and it shows up in the results.

But with SAF, the opposite occurs. Yes, he’s demanding, and yes, his temper is ferocious. But it also tends to have a galvanizing effect on the team, both as individuals and as a team. (Unless you’re Ben Foster, I guess.) “Everyone hates us, our backs are to the wall…” he plays that card superbly, and naturally. And it does work. How do I know? Because are there to prove it, consistently and over a long period of time. And that wouldn’t be the case if he was merely brow-beating the players.

  69. King Eric says:

Well cheers lads. No point whatsoever wqatching reserves now!!!

  70. King Eric says:

I actually reckon Tony V will feature in some capacity on Saturday.

  71. Goon says:

Costas – fair point but since the Birmigham final the word ‘bottle’ is being used about Arsenal. Nothing to do with bottle; as I said if fabregas were playing we would have destroyed Brum.

Arsenal were not good enough last year and the year before, nothing to do with bottle they were young and lacked experience. Arsenal’s style is not totally suited to the PL; maybe if we had some more world class players we would overcome the disadvantages of having a small technical team.

The year Eduardo broke his leg we could have won the PL but they ‘hit a brick wall’. Experience is critical.

We should have it this year.

  72. Saad says:

    Off-topic:

Looks like it’s gonna be a good at WHL.

Both Spurs and Milan are fielding strong teams. Milan are going with their trifecta of Pato-Robinho-Ibra and they have to go for the win.

  73. King Eric says:

Goon – You won’t win the league and deep down you know it mate. United know what the pressure and run in is all about. When players look round the dressing room they see winners like Giggs, Scholes, Rio, Vida, Evra, Edwin, Fletch etc. Who can inspire your mob? Not fucking one of them pal.

  74. Kings says:

Goon – You should do stand up. Fucking cunt.

  75. Kings says:

Good news on Nani and Valencia. Fergie will probably play Obertan on Saturday.

  76. Goon says:

StatesideAussie – its not an insult its a standing joke in the Uk that there are more Man U supporters in South London then in Manchester.

Fergie uses his status to frighten all and sundry. He is a bully. One decision goes against Man U and there is a nuclear war.

As a result, in general, refs favour man U with decisions. I suggest Man U are handicapped each season and start off with say, 6 less points to counteract refs favouring them.

  77. united.george says:

read this on BBC, but since 2003 at least, arsenal is the only team to ever record no shots on goal in a champions league game…..

  78. willierednut says:

Goon – Being serious now, Wenger has no plan B. Why didn’t he go for the away goal? Bracelona are great, when in front, but like against Inter last season, they hate chasing a game. You had no out ball and that played right into Barca’s hands. Walcott was the biggest miss for Arsenal.

  79. Goon says:

kings – there’s always a poorly brought up mis-guided bloke who turns up on bbs.

  80. TonyBee says:

What the fuck is this bastard Gooner cunt doing on here giving it large…fuck off to your own blog you fucking tosser…..
‘we are gonna win it this year’ …fucking right you are, you soft cunt…. Jesus… the fucking cheek

they have a couple easy games, then fluke a home 2-1 win over Barca when they should have been 3 down in the first half….go on to lose a final against the Yam Yams and they still think they can out do us…..

  81. Goon says:

Willie – we had no pace up front, we defended our lead but Fab back heeled and fucked it up. In the second half at 1-1 we would have come into it more but RvP was sent off.

I don’t think I have seen a better team than barca.

  82. TonyBee says:

SAF A BULLY….. better a bully than a whining ass bandit forever crying to the media….. Wenger has turned you lot into pansies….you will all be playing pretty pink next year….oh and without Fabregas as well …who is Barcelona bound….

  83. Goon says:

Tonybee – you are rubbish away from home and so will lose the League. See yer.

  84. SP says:

rafael could be a good option on the wing against arsenal with JOS at rb. its not ideal but it could work against arsenal

  85. Goon says:

    My last post.

Now you can all discuss how wonderful Man U are.

  86. StatesideAussie says:

willie … that’s the difference between The Arse and Barca. Arsenal needed a Plan B and didn’t have it. Barca don’t have a Plan B either, but yesterday, they didn’t need one. Arsenal weren’t capable of putting them in that situation. Inter did last year, and we did in 08, but The Arse? Never.

  87. TonyBee says:

do one you Gooner cunt….come back at the end of the season dipshit…..

  88. Kings says:

Goon – You silly cunt, I am regular on this site as I am a United fan. Why don’t you fuck off back to your own blog instead of coming on here and infecting this site with your piffle. There is absolutely no way there would have been a different outcome if Van Persie was on the pitch, he was ineffective throughout. Now fuck off you fucking pratt.

  89. TonyBee says:

we know Man Utd is wonderful ……
we will discuss certain things about the ARSE …
like how many points will they finish behind us…
how big a cunt Nasri is….
and how much cock can Wenger take at one time…..

  90. TonyBee says:

    well said Kings mate….

  91. willierednut says:

StatesideAussie – Wengers too stubborn mate. He thinks he can out play a team like Barcelona, not gonna happen.

  92. Busby babes says:

Gents i beleive park will play saturday, at least in some capacity. by all accounts he got put through a late fitness test 24 hours before the liverpool game, yet judged unfit to return after his hamstring trouble

  93. Goon says:

‘I am regular on this site as I am a United fan’ – see you at the end of the season when we are Champs.

  94. mancunian says:

When is Rio back? a two week injury over a month ago……Also Park must be back soon also????

  95. parryheid says:

Arsenal excuses this weekend will be the same ones we have used with some justification. We had a hard midweek match with a long journey back with insufficient time to recover before playing in a big game and our opponents had no game and are well rested. It is correct and will impact on them as we have experienced ourselves.Bonus.

  96. StatesideAussie says:

willie … yeah, it’s that “beautiful football” crap again. Sometimes I think that if Wenger and The Arse had their way, they’d transform football into something like synchronized swimming, goals wouldn’t matter, just have a panel of judges who would award “points” on the “beauty” of the display. Fucking crap.

  97. StatesideAussie says:

Goon … I thought you fucked off already? Hanging around like a sloppy beer fart under the bed covers…

  98. Kings says:

TonyBee – ditto on your post of 19.26 mate. These fucking gooner cunts talk nothing but absolute nonsense. Then again, what do you expect when you have snood wearing mincing little cunts like Nasri saying that they will win the league and pricks like Wenger saying they will win the quadruple, disrespecting Birmingham along the way, as he made that comment before they played the league cup final.

  99. Kings says:

Goon – If you say so you nugget. Now why don’t you do the honourable thing and fuck off you cocksucker.

  100. Costas says:

We are quite wonderful aren’t we? :)

  101. TonyBee says:

i wonder if Goon wears pink already…seems to me that all Gooners are mincing queens any way….. from WENGER down… shirt lifters all…..

  102. TonyBee says:

Costa’s …. we are more than wonderful….

  103. Kings says:

TonyBee – Yeah no more so than Walcott. Have you heard the way he speaks?

  104. TonyBee says:

    wallcott….Wengers bum boy… :d:

  105. Kings says:

Yeah Wenger likes to blood the youth – especially when he splits them in half.

  106. Rossythered says:

2-3 weeks away from a return to action for Nani, Antonio & Park………2-3 weeks …!!!!!!
We are fucked til then…….Pogba & Morrison sum 1 give the lads a chance for fucks sake……Wildness was given a chance & now look at him………Not looking forward to the game against the gooners @ the weekend……..

  107. StatesideAussie says:

@Rossythered …. 2-3 weeks, but don’t forget there’s an international break in there. We have no matches in the two weeks from March 19 until April 2, between Bolton (H) and West Ham (A). I can’t see Nani or Tony V going on international duty, nor Park (hasn’t he officially retired from international football?). That will give them some extra rest just when they need it, and gives us a break too.

  108. King Eric says:

Where it say two to three weeks? Nani just over a week and tony v already got through hour game and it says seventeenth. That’s just over a week. We will get through these couple of home games. Its what we do. Our home form is of no concern. I actually quite like not hearing about injuries etc and being out in the dark. It keeps us all guessing!

Kings and tonybee. Ha. Your posts to that goon clown have amused me. What a cunt.

  109. Mykidscalledcantona says:

The quicker there back the better as I don’t want to mention r other options as il get depressed and put weight on..hope Tony v doesn’t need time to adjust I fear he will..Rooney would benefit from him, that would b typical..Rooney shit all season then with 9 games to go Tony v is back and BANG,he hits form just in time..I’m also glad spurs won as if we draw them it won’t b far to travel as Milan would of been(obviously)..

  110. dmn says:

Nice job by the Manchester United’s medical stuff. In other clubs such injuries put away players for a way longer time

  111. smartalex says:

Damn, it’s nice to read a comment from someone who gives a dmn!

Pleasing to hear that we have quality medical staff.

  112. RedSea says:

smartalex…you’re right. their quality is as good as your comments. Super.

  113. brisbanefan says:

SAF has a big problem. We’re at the crucial part of the season and in spite of the injuries to 3 wingers, Fergie’s biggest problem is still the MF. We all know it isn’t performing, we all know its the weakest link in the team.
I’ve just read an article about the possibility of player Rooney there with Berba and Javier up front. It’s an idea that’s hard to fault. I would also suggest playing Smalling in front of the 2 CBs, providing Rio is fit. One to the best attributes that Smalling has is his ability to pass the ball accurately.
Fergie has to do something. All combinations of Carrick/Fletcher/ScholesGibson have not worked nor look like working. I’m not suggesting that a Rooney/Smalling MF should be tried against Arsenal, but perhaps against Bolton the following week it should be tried.

  114. brisbanefan says:

Talking about Valencia. There was a report on the net last week that Udinese have offered Sanchez to UTD for £6million plus Valencia. Interesting.

  115. brisbanefan says:

‘We are now set up to win the league. Barca outstanding.

While Man U and Chelsea get bogged down in the CL we will wipe the floor with yous lot and win the league!’

You’ve just got to LAUGH at these Arse fans. Two weeks ago they were going to win 4 trophies. Now they’re down to 2. And this weekend they’ll be down to 1. And after Spurs have thrashed them at WHL their season will be over. And AW will spend the summer looking for someone who can be the teams captain. The present incumbent is WAY out of his depth. Never mind another GK or a better CB, Wenger needs a good captain. And he knows it.

  116. StatesideAussie says:

@brisbanefan … G’day mate (I assume that’s the Brisbane in Qld, not the Brisbane near San Francisco, lol) … yeah, several of us have been keen to try Rooney in the MF. DentonDavey is the most ardent supporter of that idea, but I wouldn’t mind seeing it either. But I don’t think Smaling would fly in the MF. And with Rooney in the middle, I don’t think SAF would play *both* Berba and Chicharito up front at the same time. I think the idea would be for Rooney to run through in support of Berba when we attack, and drop back to help the midfield when we fighting for it there.

Not that I’ve anything against Chicharito — quite the opposite. But I do think that right now, he is most lethal against a tired defense.

But once TonyV and Nani are back, we will once again have two wide men. If there are two upfront as well, that leaves only two in the middle, and I can’t see Rooney and “just one other” cutting it there. But I think a more fluid arrangement might be worth trying, with Rooney moving forward or back. He would give Berbatov options in attack (which is a good thing, because Berbatov is very good at using options to confuse the defense), but would give the MF energy and another body when the battle’s raging there.

@brisbanefan lol at your post about The Arse. Yeah, they could use a set of gonads, too.

    Ravel Morrison Please!!!

  119. hash2153 says:

if this is to be true and he is fit, then keep him on the bench to start. I would like to see Fabio playing on the left wing, he’s got the pace, can track back on defence and can switch up with evra.

I hope that we will endure with this team to the title……but in the summer … we must bring 3-4 top class players, otherwise we will be fighting for 4th place!

  121. The Fan says:

Bit ashamed by some of the arsenal fans coming on here, deluding some united into somehow thinking we all believe we are set up to win the league, didn’t deserve to lose against barca etc.
Mind you i find it funny how much some united fans exagerated certain media stereotypes around arsenal and especially wenger.

Looking realistically to this weekend, both teams will be lacking in the offensive department while having most defensive players available. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 0-0 which united would benefit from the most if they get nani and valencia back for the replay. Fergie will probably put out a 5 man midfield though his recent (unsuccessful) change to using 442 in big games may go against this. In some way going 442 may be better for united without their (imo) best attacking players being nani and valencia. However to play a 2 man midfield against arsenal will invite the pressure from arsenal. Meanwhile without fabregas and walcott, arsenal’s attack will hardly get through united’s defence often enough though van persie and nasri will still pose a threat.

If united play 442 then expect arsenal to have a lot of possesion but struggle to break down united. If united play 451 then expect the match to be congested in the middle of the park. Fletcher will be pretty important in this game. Also if united go 451, expect the return of winger rooney :b

It’s absolutely essential for both Nani and Valencia to back, fit and working together for our run in.

Nani and Valencia together just works so much better than one or the other.

  123. StatesideAussie says:

@mladen man.utd … if we bring in 3-4 top class players in summer, as you say we must, then we may as well tell our star youth players to go find employment elsewhere. Those guys are now exactly at the age where they need to be breaking through into the first team, over the next 1-3 years. But if we have just brought in 3-4 top class players, what opportunities would exist? You would expect or hope that these top-class players would each hang around 4-6 years, depending on their current ages. Once the young players are ready, they will want (and need) time. They won’t want to sit around the bench waiting for some superstar to get old or go on a juicy transfer somewhere else.

Also, with the fair play rules coming in, I wouldn’t be surprised to see transfer fees cooling off a little bit after another year. I think the major teams will try to get themselves sorted before then, and then prices will fall. This means two things:

    1. “value” may improve in another year or two (so if by then, some of our youngsters seem not to be making it, it might then be a good time to buy in talent.
    2. paying higher fees now doesn’t make sense if the market is going to cool later. We will almost certainly be throwing money away, because we won’t be recoup what we paid.

If we’re that short on the wings why not give one of the rafa or fabio a run out as a winger, can be no doubt they have the speed and the skill for it?

  127. nani4ever says:

Huge sigh of relief i was so worried about our season when nani left the pitch after being assualted, because without those 15 or so assists and those 11 goals and his overall general penetrating attacking play i dont know what we would have done.

  128. GOZIE JERRY says:

i can wait to see valenci and nani in action but pls we need spark, united4 life

  129. bobkoh says:

I’m worried about Nani & frustrated that a cnut like Carragirl get away with a yellow card while Nani will be out for 2, 3 games. In the mind of Carragirl, he must be thinking, I’ll take Nani out & hope the ref will say ‘mistimed tackle’. And he got away with it. Even Stevieme was harrassing Nani right in front of the camera. Fcuk the scousers, I hope they fall to Braga away & home..

  130. skp says:

Hi. I’m in Singapore. Last night (it’s Friday noon now) I happened to tune in to one of the football programmes where STEVE MCMAHON (Yes, the scouser Mcmahon) is a pundit. They were discussing the Liverpool – United game and I could not for the life of me believe my ears when I heard what he said about that thug Caragher’s assault on Nani. According to him Dowd was right in not sending off the thug because – get this – IT WOULD HAVE SPOILT THE GAME!!! For good measure, he also said the decision not to send off Rafa was also correct – for the same reason!!

  131. skp says:

    @Goon

Here’s something for you from Mr. Paul Masefield, a well respected Aussie, who’s a Football pundit on Singapore’s MIO TV :

    “BENDTNER COULDN’T HIT A DONKEY’S BACKSIDE WITH A BANJO!!”

    Wow!

  132. StScholesOfSalford says:

I was quite surprised by Goons comment that Arsenals football style isnt suited to the PL. That might be a bit of a problem seeing that you play the majority of your games in the league u muppet!

But to be fair though, Goon was right. Arsenals football isnt suited to the PL…..its more championship level!

  133. mladen man.utd says:

the midfielders who will play against Arsenal are below average quality …. We have the lowest quality of MF players of the first six teams in the EPL.

  134. Yule says:

Man United fans, hw do u think your team will do against Barca. i hope u get them next n see. As for the league, its all to play for and we will surely do you at The Emirates..

  135. chinedum ibaa says:

To all united fans how was your day? hope luck will be on ourside against arsenal tomorrow but i am afraid we are playing without our wingers may God help us
