The transfer window closed but it took a further 40 minutes for the deal to be confirmed. Tottenham Hotspur have sold Dimitar Berbatov for £30.75 million, with Frazier Campbell joining the London club on loan for one year.
The deal for our new striker, who will Louis Saha’s old number 9 shirt, saw a delayed confirmation thanks to ironing our the Premier League complaint Spurs made. They have now dropped that complaint and agreed a 4-year-deal.

Man Utd News 24/7

so campbell will come back after a year?
that is great news
I was hoping we wouldn’t have swap him but a loan swap is ok with me.
oh yeah the berbatov news is good as well
Great news – especially for Campbell going out onloan and NOT being sold!
I havent particularly warmed to Berbatov and dont see him as an out and out striker that we need.
Heres hoping he lives up to the faith SAF has shown in him and proves doubtful UTD fans like me wrong.
Though 30M for 27 year old is a bit steep IMO – is he really one of the best in the position we need him in or his fergie going to use him differently than we all think?
Where is Manucho?
Oh and Robinho to city? Crazy
@ Ahmed
I remember reading somewhere last week that fergie said that manucho is injured (the dreaded metatarsal strikes again)
He didn’t say when manucho was expected to return from injury.
lol oh yeah the robinho to citeh deal…real have snubbed chelsea big time lol…I can’t believe robinho agreed to join citeh tho.
Brilliant wheeling-dealing I say. I was worried a little earlier with all the rumors about Campbell being part of the deal – the fact that its a loan deal is brilliant news – probably even better than the berbatov signing alone. I can see flashes of real talent in the the young lad and he can only come back better from that loan spell! Brilliant work David Gill! Welcome Scimitar, let start banging in them goals!!
spurs fan here,
good business for eveyone concerned in by book, weve got 30mill n a cover striker on loan.
youve got one of the best strikers in the business and with a bit of luck will help stop “the arse” or chelski” winning ote.
Wud have prefered to keep berba at the lane but once a player(especcialy like dimitar) wants to go then theres little we can do.
just hope spurs can pick up a bit now with corlucka and the russian lad signed
Whao, i love that piece of news i am getting now, getting bebertov at long last. The premier league defence are in for trouble. I can’t wait to see a foursome attack of Rooney, Tevez, Ronaldo and Bebertov. Oh my goodness. everybody is ruuning scared now including chelsea who lost the Robinho bid to ManCity, shame on you, you need to learn the negotiations rules aiight? Mancity knows that better than youand so they ‘ve won the race to sign the lethal robinho from your noses, Hahahahahahh
I am vry happy berbatov signed for manutd, lets hope he delights d fans watching him at anfield.we love u berbtov,we miss u ronnie and show robinho whose ”BOSS”.
Hoorah, he can shit on robbie keane come the 13th. If there was ever a debut game to prove your dream berbs…..
Really great news. Just when it looked like all we were doing in out summer of triumph was “balancing the books” -and cutting the wage bill. Campbell only being on loan is great too -as is Chelsea not getting Robhinho -but Real Madrid still losing him lol.
brilliant!! can’t imagine what our formation up will be though. any idea?
Fuck me 30 mil for a 27 year old is quite a lot…..We should all just prepare ourselves for “United only buy the league…” shit for the remainder of the year.
Oh well, onward and upward I guess. Now its time for Berba to show me (the hater/doubter) what all the fuss is about.
What will it do to our lineup? Should he come in right away?? I mean, 30 mil for a super sub doesn’t sound right. But how does that leave Carlos and Wayne?? I honestly and sincerely hope it provides a kick in the ass to Wayne to have him get fit, because if Berba comes in and shows his class right away, that leaves Wayne on the bench if I’m making the lineup as I just couldn’t bring myself to leave Carlos out, not with the level of performances he has been giving lately.
Who knows if this would work…..
Wes—Rio—Vidic—Evra
——Carrick—-Hargo——-
————Tevez————
Rooney—————-Ronaldo
———-Berba———-
Thats one of the only ways I can see getting all four of them on the pitch at the same time. Although it provides a few problems, like no natural width (it would have to come from wes and evra) And it pushes Rooney out wide where we have all agreed is not his best position. And it could end up being like the Harlem Globetrotters or the Galacticos where not enough people are willing to do the little things to help their teammates. And the egos will have to mix and not clash….Who knows…
It seems too much for a 27-8 year old however good. That said if City can now join Chelsea in a new world order of transfer spending then 30 mil might just be the new level for even players this age. I expect that British transfer record will be broken a few more times in the next 12 months.
Silly money
If we where going to spend 30m+ we could have done it a month ago
It’s not my money, so I’m not too bothered about that aspect of the transfer. Clearly, a fit, healthy, and committed Berbatov is a massive upgrade on an unfit, un-healthy and uncommitted head case like LouisLouisHaHa. So the squad has been improved over its previous incarnation which was only good enough to win back-to-back EPL titles and the CL, too.
Loaning Campbell to Spurs isn’t a bad move either – he wouldn’t have gotten much playing time at OT and this gives him more opportunity to show his stuff. And, like some others, I like the fact that it is a loan not a sale – if he does well at WhiteHartLane then he should probably be valued at around ten million. So, that’s good too.
Getting the Spurs to eat shite on their “tapping up” complaint is a great victory. But, on the other hand, the Spurs were able to get almost ten million quid extra by playing hard-ball and that has to be credited to Levy.
I would imagine that Berbatov will be the #9 on September 13th at Anfield, when TheLads stuff the scousers – again. I would also imagine that there will be no pressure to get Ronaldo back into the game a bit early – I had thought that he might surprise and be in the team at Anfield which now seems less likely but I would think that he will be on the field at Stamford Bridge the following weekend, when we get a chance to humiliate the Robinho-less RentBoyz.
Like the old saying tells us about Chel$ki, “money talks, bullshit walks”.
Drew Vader- I like the idea of a diamond upfront, but I would swap Rooney and Tevez. I agree completely with the idea that we need to gel with all those egos but Tevez and Rooney are selfless players, Berba will be out to prove his worth, and Ronaldo will do what it takes to be successful, as long as it doesn’t change his role to much. Manucho will be able to plug up front for Berba and all of the pieces can rotate around the striker. Rooney is such a hard worker and is capable of playing multiple roles. Scholes, Nani, and Anderson can be pluged into the positions as well. Good thinking but time will tell what Fergie thinks about trying a new system but the idea of rotation was used a lot last year and the players should be able to gel into so Fergie will surely consider this type of formation.
“If we where going to spend 30m+ we could have done it a month ago”
I’m sure it would not have been that high the bitters hadn’t interfered.
Glad they fucked up Chelski’s Robinho transfer though.
Berbatov + Manchester United = Tha Fuckin Treble…simple
Kevin…yeah man, its just, I hate saying this but In my honest opinion, on current form, Tevez is playing much better than Rooney right now, and I would rather have Tevez in the hole behind Berba every day of the week. This is all dependent on Berba coming in and playing as well as we are all hoping him to, but IF (and i know its a big if) Berba comes in and plays at a very high level, I don’t see a spot in the starting 11 for Wayne if we play a 4-4-2. And the 4-4-2 appears to be a favorite of SAF’s while the rotating fluid 4-3-3 we used last year was more of Carlos’s style I think.
I just hope it kicks Wayne in the ass to get himself fit. I know people will hate me for saying this but he just looks heavy right now, and his pace and quickness and explosiveness isn’t there.
£30m??????/ F*cking rip-off, he’s not worth that. Anyway good signing, but i just always get this feeling, he’s gonna be a disappointment after all the hype.
if spurs fans are on here commenting if it’s true spurs never give united permission to speak to berbertov I would like top apologise for the behaviour of not just united but the way berbertov as gone about. it as a united fan I hate the way united have gone about it especially after ronaldo. Now you united fans I want all united fans to never boo ronaldo ever sing his name out loud because we have benefited getting a player in the same way as ronaldo tried to do over the summer. what realy makes me wonder I have said since 2005 we should have signed fernando torres his age his style would have been perfect for the likes of ronaldo rooney and nani.
I was not happy totally of getting berbertov because of his age and attitude and where they are going to fit him in. but you know what f** it he is here and while arsenal can barely name two players that are going to make you shiver in your boots along with Liverpool, while chelsea have very good players united can boost the most flair exotic and destructive front line. Remember when real madrid had figo zidane ronaldo and raul along with a very good midfield that did not score alot of goals but stayed deep that’s how united are built on galacticos players up front like ronaldo rooney tevez and berbertov. but think about this people fergie wants rooney in his best position, and you know the way tevez playes his dynamic movement which is better then rooneys and ronaldo ‘s powerful rampaghing runs from the wings. I suspect tevez will play the way benitez uses kuyt cutting in from the wing that’s my hunch about how fergie tends to lineup these four players and berbertov will be the target man.
look at this comparisment between real madrid in 02/03 and united 08/09
real madrid man utd
makelele guti hargreaves anderson
figo raul zidane ronaldo rooney tevez
ronaldo berbertov
you could say set man utd’s front line like this is very unbalanced will tevez and rooney like going out wide dont think so, but the complaints about uniteds midfield dont get forward there is a reason rooney goes deep tevez goes deep and the midfield getting forward may get in the way of rooney and tevez thats why.
I just wish I could have been a fly on the wall of a certain Mr Kenyon’s office at about 11.30 last night. I bet Roman’s not a happy bunny. One way ticket to Siberia please!!
I think ManUtd just has what it takes now to rule Europe and the EPL for years to come…remember we have youth in the team.
vidic and ronaldo and bebertov and rooney and
