It’s Official – He’s Gone

Manchester United are £80 million better off today after the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid has been completed.

Sir Alex Ferguson has spoken kindly about our former winger and wishes him well for the future.

“Cristiano has been a marvellous player for Manchester United,” said Ferguson. “His six years at Old Trafford have seen him develop into the best footballer in the world. His contribution has been a major factor in the club’s success in that time and his talent, his ability to entertain and his infectious personality have enthralled fans the world over. Everyone here wishes him well in his future career.”

Thank God that’s all over with…..

  2. Manc'er says:

Not good. Who will score 42 goals next season? Midfield and attach is looking thin now that Tevez has gone to rich and growing city.

I fear for Man U this season, no Premiership title anytime soon.

CR7 is irreplaceable. £80m may seem like a lot but he was a one off and cannot be replaced. Rooney is not good enought o fill his shoes, no one is and with the old boys soon off its looking bleak…….

  3. Med Red says:

I have to say that I’m pleased the circus left town. He might have been a big part of our success, but he was getting too big for his shoes. Good luck Ronnie. You’ll need it when you have a couple of bad games and the white hankies come out waving. Mark my words you’ll be saying you should have stayed put come that time.

  4. Stephen says:

Don’t worry yourself we will be Ok…

  5. roedel says:

@manc’er…leave it out – we won titles before Ronaldo and we will carry on winning titles after him.

  6. Red Dave says:

fuck it, we can always buy another young ronaldo

  7. AIG Alex is GOD says:

we will miss him.the greatest united player in last decade. Thanks Ron.

  8. AIG Alex is GOD says:

I m sure everyone saying Thanks its over with knows he was a great player and deep down inside know we will miss him

  9. Billy Meredith says:

I’m not worried about anything, what with the excellent squad we have. But I am sad to see him go, I wanted to keep him for a couple more years, watch him mature, watch those skills. Oh well, gimme a few months and I’ll hate the c***.

  10. Billy Meredith says:

And anyway, we have Valencia?!? Nope, still not excited about it.

  11. Mic says:

Manc’er – Not quite, we’ve won the title with and without Ronaldo, Liverpool are still shit, Arsenal aren’t any better and Chelsea …well Sturrige, Turnbull and Zirkhov …i’m shitting myself! Whereas we’ve got Rooney up the centre, Berbatov will be involved alot more and so last season will have just been a warm up and on the wing, we’ve got a player who’ll help the strikers and track back, not to mention pass now and then!!

  12. boz says:

looks like we have lost benzema to madrid, what a waste of a talented player

  13. gotta hate tiny tears says:

    thanks ron

  14. King Eric says:

Manc’er – 2 posts in 2 days and it has nothing to do with Citeh. Why are you concerned mate. Talking about not winning “the Premier league anytime soon” how long has it been now? 34 years?. Do you honestly think YOU will win the league with your bunch of mercenary rejects? You can’t even get a player when you are offering £1million a week or summat daft. No I fear you will still be mid table mediocrity AGAIN. Enjoy your run in the Champions League……. Oh wait sorry Europa League ……..Oh my mistake you are not in Europe full stop. Muppet.

  15. RedFucker says:

It’s a damn shame. Couldn’t stand the Beckhamesque gossip mag/boyband image but on his day he was truly worldclass.

We will miss his goals and he is still a few years from his peak. We’ll just have to evolve and grow into a different team.

I can’t say I wish him – or those cunts at Madrid – well. Let’s hope with him it’s a case of “careful what you wish for…you may just get it”

  16. Kilhar says:

And the best player in the world is decided after every game and the other is overpaid shite. Nice pressure.

  17. Blotto says:

FFS will everyone calm down, CR will be missed but not to long I’m sure, everyone forgets last season wasn’t brilliant every player had bad patches the team had patches, but enough was done including the usual rub of the green to ensure another Premiership. This season the Chavs will certainly be the team that could halt Utd’s go for 4th on the trot. My concern was did SAF deliberately get the tactics wrong against Barca because he knew 2 certain players were leaving?? Not saying Barca weren’t worth their win but Utd played very oddly for such a showpiece game.
I suspect that every one will write Utd off once again especially if they have the usual poor start but come December tunes will be changed

@ “Mancer” — you must be dyslexic, or summat — it’s spelt “Wanker”.

Hope you get chronic neck ache watching Tevez charging round, the ball bouncing five yards off his shin with his first touch, misplacing passes, mistiming tackles and blazing over the bar in front of an open goal — and then warming your bench and moaning that you would have finished higher than 10th if Hughes had started him every game.

Losers, the fucking lot of you.

  19. willierednut says:

Good luck ronny go rip up the spanish league viva ronaldo!

  20. theboogeyman says:

@Blotto:Are you suggesting Sir Alex set up a team to lose??That’s just mental, the man hates to lose, let alone try setting up a team to make himself(and Manchester United) lose a European Cup Final.

On Ronaldo:I will miss him,his free kicks, his skills and his ability to shoot from long range.I won’t miss his antics, though.

  21. Dave Mack says:

Six years of excitement and emerging brilliance. I’m glad he’s left on good terms, respectful of the club and SAF. We couldn’t have got much more from any player in terms of on the field contribution to trophies, flair and in the end money.

    VIVA RONALDO!

  22. denton davey says:

A fabulous player at OldTrafford – and a great return on investment, too. I just don’t understand anyone who has any hard feelings towards the kid.

  23. willierednut says:

I agree wiv you Davey he was top class for us a legend no doubt.

  24. mufcdc says:

The BBC reported that the £80m was ‘paid in full.’ Has anyone confirmed that? If so, that’s a huge reason to do the deal, no reason to worry about Real ‘forgetting’ to pay the installments later!

  25. The Mr Fox says:

Legend? Yes! The games, he pulled out of the depths … or broke the deadlock in alone, assure him that status. We can’t thank him enough as he has presented us with the opportunity to win trophy after trophy for the past few seasons …

    but …

we have, cleverly, and yet again, sold a player after their peak. Is he going to score 42 goals next season in Spain for example? Are Real Madrid going to go one further than us in the Champions League (because they have him and we don’t) ?

    Sincerely doubt it.

I think the answer in how we will be affected comes in the fact that this long drawn out saga is over. It is a simple case of one man thinking he’s bigger than his company. No one would stand for that at work … so why should we? Get him out and bring someone in without the flapping arms, staged emotional faces, the blaming of teammates for his own mistakes, the ego, the petulance, the soap opera with the press. We’re better off from here on in.

    Period.

  26. Ulster Red says:

    viva ronaldo

  27. Pat says:

    Benzema going to Madrid, official

  28. Mozz says:

Will miss the freekicks and long range shots. good luck ron!

  29. cantona7 says:

    as if i care…. lol manc’er

  30. unitedgirl15 says:

    i feel nice today.
Goodbye ronnie lad, all the best. you made my 07/08 season. i could brag about you all the time to my anti united mates at school. Thank you.
Good luck in madrid, dont expect united to go easy on you though when we meet in the CL.

  31. Trevor says:

Benzema is signing for Real Madrid.

How can Fergie or the board get Ronnies departure so wrong!

Ronaldo’s departure was agreed 1 year ago! United have had 1 whole year to scout, Pick who they want and tie them to contracts!

What has happened?….. Erm, They created a circus with Tevez, will he wont he, will we offer will we not! Then we do but by then its too late!… Anyway i dont care about Tevez going!! Anyhow i do flipping care that we have no replacement earmarked as yet for ronaldo!

I am looking at the market and i dont know of too many players id like to see at united to make an improvement, erm benzema was a cert for me as he had everything! Do we want ribery at 26 or 28.. erm. dont know if bayern will let him go.

    Anyone got any suggestions?
