It has been confirmed this afternoon that Adnan Januzaj has moved to Sunderland on a season long loan. Januzaj will be reunited with David Moyes, the manager who gave him his debut at United, and who he played well for.

Adnan will give us a different variation. I have to get him back to the level he played at two years ago. He will get every opportunity to do the business. I’m hoping the Sunderland fans will see the real Januzaj.

Januzaj’s career has taken a turn for the worst in recent seasons, with him falling out of favour with the Belgian national side and cutting short his loan move to Borussia Dortmund after a lack of playing time.

Despite hiring a fitness coach this summer, Januzaj has been overlooked by Jose Mourinho during the pre-season and has been training with the U-21s. Reports suggest that Januzaj wanted to leave the club permanently but Mourinho was keen to keep the player on the books.

Moyes confirmed that Januzaj is in the squad to face Manchester City this weekend.
