Jonny Evans: So, Danny, how pleased were you to get a nomination for PFA Young Player of the Year?

Danny Welbeck: I was obviously pretty pleased to be recognised by your peers as one of the best young players in the league. I don’t think I had one of my best seasons but it’s something I take in my stride and I’m looking to push on and do better.

JE: You’ve won your first Premier League title with United. How does that feel?

DW: It’s great. That feeling when the whistle went to get those three points after a fantastic performance against Aston Villa was a grerat night.

JE: Who is the most difficult defender to face in training..? Apart from myself.

DW: It’s hard to say because each defender has their own strengths and weaknesses. I couldn’t pick one, it’s too difficult.

JE: Do you think you’ve improved as a player since you’ve developed… that outrageous hairstyle?

DW: [laughs] Is that what the question is? Let me check that question again.

JE: It’s called a hi-top hairstyle.

DW: Do I think I’ve become a better player? I dunno.

JE: The aerodynamics aren’t working for you?

DW: I don’t think so, no. I don’t think it’s to do with the hair, no.

JE: Giving you a bit more balance?

DW: No, no. Not at all.

JE: We’ll move on. Why did you get the job of ballboy for the Liverpool vs Chelsea match at Anfield?

DW: I couldn’t help it. I needed to spy on the opponents. Spot their weaknesses first hand. I just had to be there and see it. Next time we play them you’ll see my strengths against their weaknesses.
