Jose: No Manager Would Turn Down United Job

Jose Mourinho is becoming increasingly desperate for the Manchester United job it seems, today confessing that he wouldn’t be able to turn it down if it was offered.

Hopefully that never happens.

“Which is the manager that says no? Nobody can say no,” Mourinho said. “Manchester United belongs to a small group of clubs from around the world where nobody can say no. But first of all I don’t believe in 2010 he is leaving – I don’t believe. I think year after year he is the same, he’s exactly the same person; healthy, happy… so I don’t see a reason for him to quit. And in a very fair way, I hope he still goes, I hope he still goes on, because he’s good.”

Yeah i’m getting worried, though i’m sure we can do worse and while Fergie may retire he’d still have a healthy interest in the club (hopefully in a positive manner) i’d like someone else ’til Mourinho irons out his flaws!

  2. costas says:

Scott contain yourself!I saw the report and i wondered how long it would take for you to comment. This retirement talk for SAF will start to have an effect on the teamJust like it did in 01-02.Fergie has to leave it to fate whn he talks again. The worst thing that can happen is him giving his retirement a deadline.

  3. James, Salford says:

To be honest guys, there could be worse successors to Fergie than Mourinho. End of the day, the guys trophy haul at his age is simply staggering.

Obviously, the big concern is the way that his teams have played football. But I think Mourinho himself will know that United fans will demand an attacking style of play; so hopefully he would take this on board.

I’m sure he isnt stupid enough to play a defensive style of football with the range of attacking talent we’ve got.

    mourino for me

special club needs a special manager remember

    when chelsea played without pressure

robben and duff as wingers in a good old fashioned 4-3-3 ..

I can see him doing that with us

he is a special manager who respects traditions and cultures

we need to have some respect and trust in Jose Mourino

to bring us to 6-5 over the dippers he will finish off the job ferguson started

NO NO NO NO NO NO Jose Mourinho Manchester United manager fuck that never

  6. OMelhorDoMundo says:

Which do you think are the group of clubs?
I would say AC Milan, Juventus, Barcelona and Manchester United
Beneath them would be Real Madrid (for whoring with their managers), Bayern Munich (because of the league they play in), Liverpool (because they can’t compete financially), Inter Milan

It has been pointed out time and time again, (on ROM of course) that Morono is incapable of putting together a winning side. Mind you, we HAVE one hell of a side and he could very well be handed it but I truly feel that he will flatline our team, from the youths all the way up. C’mon really? He is a prick. As much as I love spanking the pants off of our opposition, sides as weak as say WBA, I would hate for our head to take it into the press afterwards, adding insult to injury, being vain as always. Am I just a softie? We need someone who is humble and is willing to serve Man United as much as lead it.

  8. toby says:

what if he came? saw, conquered? i can see it, at the same time i cant. but there is no other manager i could see though. as much as i hate him

  9. themarkedman72 says:

when ferguson does go one day long in the future may it be dont be surprised if Mourinho takes the helm.
He ticks all the boxes scott.
    europe.
    fergie likes him
strong character that can handle the pressure of being the united manager.
Probably hard to swallow for all united fans…Clearly you more than most.

  10. Kings says:

Fuck off Mourinho you cunt, you are not welcome at United.

  11. gotta hate tiny tears says:

Mourinho is a good manager who believes he is so much better

he ended up in the righht place at the right time with the right team, due to trasision periods with united and arsenal, with money

if ive said it once i’ve said it a million times

Scholes was 2/3 yards onside for that goal and if it had of stood

noone outside porto would know a thing about mourinho, except from the manager that cheated moaned and encuraged diving on the road to the champions league jnr cup

  12. gotta hate tiny tears says:

but he speaks the truth no manager could say no to manchester united

we just have to hope noone asks him the question

  13. Scott the Red says:

James – why? That’s what he did at Chelsea. He sold on pretty much all their attacking midfielders and replaced them with central midfielders. I think Joe Cole is the only one he clung on to, getting rid of the likes of Duff, Gudjohnsen and Robben.

He’s never been a success playing attacking football. What makes you think he suddenly would be able to do it now? I’m sure Fergie wouldn’t be half the manager he is if he joined a new club and was told to play defensive football and the same applies to Mourinho. He doesn’t know a flair player if he smacked him in the gob, which is why Chelsea now have those wastes of spaces Malouda, Kalou etc.

  14. gotta hate tiny tears says:

    bang on scott

  15. Its in my blood says:

    NO!

  16. Stephen says:

This guy has no class, whoring himself in the press is disgraceful, he is absolutly the wrong person to be out our great club.

  17. King Eric says:

    Spot on Scott.

  18. the Count says:

half of me says eff of Jose! the other half says who else could step up to replace the finest trainer ever?

  19. denton davey says:

“half of me says eff of Jose! the other half says who else could step up to replace the finest trainer ever?”

theCount knows ! Apart from a punt on David Moyes, who else is there ?

Forget about Capello and Lippi and O’Neil – the first two are just about as old as SAF and MO’N brown-noses the press but his record isn’t any better than Wee Gordie Strachan, who looks the business at Celtic but never did much at Southampton.

I suppose that Carlo Ancelotti might be a shout but I think I’ve seen a fair number of reports in which he has denied coming to England/Chelsea and what makes anyone think he would leave Milan and then spurn London for the delights of Manchester ? Gimme a break !

  20. Moxster says:

Jose Mourinho could be good for ManU..
ie. Retire the ole geezer ………..

  21. King Eric says:

Depending on how long before SAF actually retires I hope to see Ole. 4 defeats in 24 in his first season as reserve manager is not bad going. “4 defeats too many” was his qoute after the Boro game. Quality. Too early to judge yet really.

  22. mrmyagki says:

@Denton Davey-but his record isn’t any better than Wee Gordie Strachan, who looks the business at Celtic but never did much at Southampton

Anybody could manage Celtic including me or you and still win the SPL, but under Strachan Celtic have taken a few steps backwards! My call would be for Martin O’Neill or David Moyes!

  23. NicoQB says:

Remember the I’m on Setanta Sports episode where Sven is touting himself senseless for the Sunderland job?
Why do I get a sense of deja vu?

  24. Drew Vader says:

I have one major worry for SAF leaving. Now, we have a massive squad full of internationals and quality at every position, but yet, how often do you hear players complaining about playing time or minutes?? I think that is one of the best qualities in SAF, the players don’t question it, and if they do, they don’t bitch and moan about it in public. But, if David Moyes comes in, or someone of that elk, I can see it happening more often. If Moyes had the balls to drop Ronaldo after a string of shit performances, do you think Ronaldo would take it laying down? Fuck no. Thats what scares me, the unrest in the dressing room and the drama and complaining and shit mix that could come with it.

  25. rohail says:

there is only one club no manager says no to – us!

  26. TonyBee says:

What about Allardyce…..another no nonsense manager whom I,M sure with our financial muscle would work wonders….. Specially if he took Ole Gunnar under his wing….

  27. leetguy101 says:

Here’s a fun one for thought: Phelan or even McClaren for manager, and, not one, but two assistants in Giggs and Ole.

Before I get shot, hear me out.

Phelan’s watched and seen how SAF works, he’s spent a season and, next season, it’ll be two seasons as Assistant. He knows the team well.

McClaren, he’s done his study in absolutely making England look like shit, but he was the assistant manager when we won the Treble. He’s also doing well as manager of FC Twente, isn’t he?

Giggs and Ole, well, one is training to be a manager, and the other has spent the season in reserves, coaching to 20 wins in 24 matches, from what I hear. Giggs has been with SAF the whole time, he has a deep insight into other teams, knows how to play against them on the pitch, and if not, then more likely than not, Phelan, McClaren or Ole will have learnt enough from their experience to know how to win against our unknown opposition.

We’ll win the league, easy, the FA Cup, perhaps, the League Cup, easy, but in Europe, it might take a season or two of getting kicked out in the quarterfinals by the traditional powerhouses of the Champions League, but we’ll be there in the final in perhaps two years after SAF retires, with a great system of management, and more than that, with people that we actually want as our managers.

That, or, we can always give TNSSO the job, and give him a managerial position with Giggs as an assistant. Don’t know if his ego can take it though, with an assistant that thinks so fundamentally different. Giggs would be all youth, he *came* from the youth policy, TNSSO is all about buying players, don’t know how he treated Kalou, but from what I hear, Kalou’s decent. TNSSO is all defence, little attack, Giggsy is all attack, and, well… he’s more balanced than TNSSO’s policy in attack/defence.

It’s a tough job, replacing a one-of-a-kind, so why not replace the one-of-a-kind with more than one guy?

  28. King Eric says:

Phelan or McClaren – Not nearly good enough for United.
