7 points ahead with 1 game in hand and when CR scored the penalty against LFC, I was jumping with joy like a mad man. A possible 13 point lead over LFC would have swatted them for good.

That high feeling had since been replaced with this terrible feeling of uncertainty (indescribable) for the last 12 days (not helped at all by the international break).

On an important note, here's hoping that we can regain our good form back against AVFC and that if John O'Shea (United's best backwards/sideway passer) starts, he does not get too engrossed during attack that when we lose possession, he has no time to trod back (he is slow that the word sprint cannot be used) to cover his right flank thus heaping a lot of pressures on our center-halves. Notice that most LFC's goals against us started from the right flank and our center-halves did not get adequate support from O' Shea.

As for Davey's list:

1) I think Tevez is a better player to use as an impact sub. He has lots more energy and can grab a game by the scruff of it's neck, where as Berbatov likes to work on the pace of the game and ease himself in to it.

2) Yes. even this season, with those 3 playing together, our football looks light years ahead of anyone else's

3) Park

4) agree

5) agree.

I see United's 'real' style of football as that which beat Roma 7-1 a couple of years back and with a Berbatov, or like a few years before Van Nistelrooy type of player, we really struggle to get going.

I have to say though, that I am 100% impressed with Berbatov and as a player and individual think he is great.

I will add, that the two players who I am least pleased with are Ronaldo and Nani, the first for his attitude and behaviour when he loses the ball and the second, because he is Nani.

I think losing 2 matches in a row has only been blown out of all reasoning by the way Liverpool have spent their last two weeks or so.

They have won 3 games against top opposition with an undeniable swagger. That's what the daily rags will tell you.

2 red cards for their opposing teams in the last two games. 3 penalties... well, this is what the league is all about, luck! We did deserve to lose our last 2 games and to me that is what makes it easier (not easy) to take.

We have now got to deal with suspensions and injuries and all we need right now is another International break. I hope our players get some rest in between and get some time to compose and focus on what lies ahead. 2 months to go and we do have the squad for this.

If we're lucky Gerrard and Torres will gain an injury each and that will be Liverpool done and dusted.

I think the way our lead has been cut is hard to take but we still have a game in hand and we still are in control. We don't need to do the talking in games we need to do the telling.

An exciting road ahead, accidents are always forgotten when the title is lifted at the end of the season. As long as it's in our hands.

Let me repeat myself:

Up to now - and the season is not yet over - the Berbatov experiment has been at the core of the team’s slower tempo and the marginalizing of last year’s attacking trident. Of course, time will tell but it’s now almost seven months since he was signed and played his first game; he’s been an automatic selection since then. And, sadly, there’s been little sign of improvement and, therefore, lots of cause for worry that this has been a failed experiment.

To put myself in the manager’s shoes, assuming that he give a fiddler’s fuck about my opinion, then I’d say as follows:

1) Bench Berbatov and use him as an “impact sub”

2) Play Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo in last year’s formation

3) Play Park/Nani as fourth forward as situation demands

4) Never play Giggs/Scholes together; and limit their playing time to games against the relegation-contenders in EPL - not FACup/not CL

5) Make Fletcher/Carrick first-choice in midfield, with Anderson as first-choice substitute

If UTD are going to win, win, win then they are going to have to re-locate that pressing, up-tempo, one-touch passing game that allows their class to rise above the mere dross of their opponents. Slowing down play merely plays into opponents’ hands.
