Shinji Kagawa has today passed a medical and obtained a UK work permit which means the transfer from Borussia Dortmund has now taken place.
The Japanese midfielder has agreed a four-year contract commencing 1 July 2012, keeping him at the club until he is 27-years-old.
“This is a challenge I am really looking forward to,” he told the official site. “The Premier League is the best league in the world and Manchester United is such a massive club. This is a really exciting time for me and I can’t wait to meet the team and start playing.”
Sir Alex Ferguson has spoken of his delight of securing the deal for one of the Bundesliga’s better players.
“Shinji is an exciting young midfielder with great skill, vision and a good eye for goal,” he said. “I am delighted he has chosen to come to United. I believe he will make an impact upon the team very quickly as he is suited to United’s style of play. We are all looking forward to working with him.”

You were better off not watching the game Cedars. It got painful to watch if you were backing Greece. Germany’s combinations up front reminded me of us during our good days. You can tell it’s a team that’s been methodically over a number of years.
Like Fletch, I wish Veron’s United career worked out differently. It’s ironic in a way. Out of the Argentineans that joined us, he had the better attitude by far yet enjoyed the least amount of success. I don’t think I was ever excited more about a signing than when we signed him. I hope he enjoys his post retirement life and that he gets to visit OT again one day.

I have to say top clubs in Germany (Bayern munich) and Spain( Barca and Madrid) are very lucky coz there country are producing some top talent.
For ex- Look at bayern , Every club in produce some top class player and they prefer to join BAyern Munich. I know their academy also produces top class players but they also have an advantage of being the biggest powerhouse in Bundesliga. Any upcoming star in bundesliga but naturally would prefer to join Bayern. It won’t be long enough when you see Hummels and Schurrle playing for Bayern.
Same thing happens in spain. Look at javi martines. He is immensely talented player who will eventually join Barca or madrid if they come calling.
Now Can you imagine that in England. No super talented kids are emerging and if there are any then they prefer to stay in Their own club. There are 4 to 5 clubs that will be competing to sign a player. So english clubs do not have advantage in that regard.
I want manchester United to have top class english player who represents England in future. But I have to say things are looking good now. In regards to Chelsea, I’d say that they were careful not to commit men forward. I won’t say they played like Greece did in 04, but it was obvious defending was the first thing on their mind. I agree they were extremely lucky though. Not so much against Bayern, but against Barcelona. With 2012 being the year of the cunt, Chelsea were bound to get the brakes this year.

Hi mate. The actual nationalities of some German players was something that was brought up a lot over here in recent days. Like it was mentioned, they were born in Germany, but their roots are different. Don’t know to what extent this would have occured in a German team 15-20 years ago, but the Germans have become masters at tracking down and developing new talent. Greece also had 2 players that were born in Germany but had Greek roots as well. Another player had Albanian roots. As long as there’s some connection to the country they eventually play for, I am fine with it.

A great addition to the attacking component of the squad which makes me wonder if SAF has some new tricks up his sleeve in regards to formation and style of play. Being an asian citizen of a country that never qualify for any tournament like world cup, I have few countries that I support during tournament season.
Last world cup, I supported Mexico because of Chicarito and Portugal because of Nani and South Korea because of Park. This Euro I support Portugal because of Nani and Ronaldo. And because I hate Messi and I think “Messi is better than Ronaldo” argument is sick. So, I hope Portugal can win this year to shut up Messi supporters. And, Portugal obviously has a great team with Nani, Ronnie, Moutinho, Mereilles, Pepe etc.
However, like you also, England always have my backing in every tournament because of United players like Robbo, Scholes, Beckham, Red Nev, Rooney etc. I know ABU cunts treat our players like shit and use them as scapegoat whenever England fail. I’d much rather they scout some of the asian youth leagues. We represent at least 5-10% of this country and to say none of our players are good enough is bullshit. Thats also true about the rivalries witnessed it first hand myself at the only England game I’ve been to. Nicky Butt came on and people round me were booing. Not sure what its like today and I don’t really care. The whole talented player thing with Carrick reminded me of a conversation I had with my Dad some time ago about Glenn Hoddle. He said the England team should have focused around Hoddle but they they preferred “work horses.” I think its similar with Carrick but that mentality isn’t going to change, that will always be the style of English football.

There’s always going to be critisism about the Greek style of play. And I have a feeling it was even worse in 04. This year, I was glad to see that some critics understood why Greece would play like they do. At the end of the day, no manager in his right mind would play more open than he should just to please the neutrals. It’s not a charity case. As for Spain, they have to play to their strengths just like Greece do. If that’s the best they can do, Fine. But I have a feeling they can be more ambitious without leaving themselves open at the back.

Honestly I also thought benzema was the next big thing and like you never hated him but when he said he snubbed united 657 times, I didn’t like him. Speaking of him having a good season at la liga, with all due respect I feel la liga is goal scoring paradise for strikers. Real madrid majority of time finished with 4 or 5 goals. Scoring 20 goals in a season there is not a big task.

What a massive boost that would be, we dearly missed him last season. With him and Rio around, our defence looks so much more formidable. The terminator being a complete no nonsense defender while Rio being the calmer. But have to say, what a player our dear Johnny Evans is turning out to be. Given so less credit like Carrick, but he filled in quite superbly in Vidic’s absence. He along with Jones, Smalling and the da Silvas are going to be the backbone of our defence for years to come!

“ten a penny” ? I don’t think so. You’re letting your heart rule your head. There are very few players who combine his left-footedness, his speed, power, and shooting power. In those ways, he’s a kind of “half-Ronaldo” but, as we know, CR7 also does right-footedness and jumping/heading while his overall ability is superior.
Bale is a left-sided imitation of CR7 in much the same way that Antonio Valencia is from the right side. Having them on both sides in a 3-5-2 would be a recipe for excitement. Having KagawaBunga and Nani playing as “inside forwards” would be exciting, too. While having Michael Carrick playing as a sweeper would be a way to combat over-commitment.
My point was not that Bale/Valencia are awesome all-around players but, rather, that in the right circumstances they could be “right for UTD” – a new UTD that plays the game in a way that is different from what we watched last year in those dreary 4-4-2 matches when Carrick/Scholes controlled the middle of the pitch but had trouble when they were pressed without the protection of someone like DarrenFletcherinho (in his “football genius” mode).
Sometimes – and I think the cumulative “lessons” of the last four years are one of those times – it’s important to think outside-the-box.
