Keegan vs Fergie – The Stats

Keegan FergusonUnited fans will always have fond memories of Kevin Keegan following his loss of bottle as we came back from 14 points behind against his Newcastle side to win the league in 1996.

The Sky Sports interview he gave, ranting about Ferguson, losing the plot as he shouted, “I’ll just love it if we beat them, love it!” is something we mock whenever we can. It was a truly great time to be a red, with our youth team products proving their worth and Eric Cantona returning from suspension.

Keegan’s record against Sir Alex Ferguson’s team fairs rather well though, surprisingly, with him handing out a couple drubbings when in charge of both Newcastle and City. They battered us 5-0 at St James’ the season after we pinched the league from their clutches, as well as his 4-1 on derby day in 2004.

    United 3-0 Newcastle
    Ronaldo(2) and Rooney!

  2. Tom F says:

I’d absolutely love it to see a similar side to that which started against Arsenal, love it!!!

    Van Der Sar

That to me should be too much for Newcastle’s shoddy defence, we also cannot forget that Alan Smith will be playing against us again.. he will always have a place in the hearts of those fond of passionate performers but he still hasn’t done too well at Tyneside from what I gather, he puts the performances in but NEVER scores…

I think Newcastle will score against us somehow but we will win otherwise comfortably. I HOPE>>>

  3. Tom F says:

….Yeah, not that similar in names but hopefully in performance!
