  1. NBI Red Moyesy says:

Round after this will be very tough! All the strong teams have weak opposition. Was hoping some of them would draw each other.

  2. DreadedRed says:

The League Cup is certainly attracting the efforts of the top teams these days. The semi-finals look likely to be mouth-watering clashes between high-flying Premiership Clubs. Stoke away will be tough, although I feel sure that our second-string will grasp the opportunity to force their way into Moyes reckoning by putting them to the sword.

Come on United, lets turn this 3-match winning run into a 10-match winning streak.

  3. FletchTHEMAN says:

You could bet on it. Cittay would get the league 1 competition.

    Bring on Stoke then.

No easy ties for EPL competition.
United will always play a b side in this competition, so always have a chance of loosing.

  4. FletchTHEMAN says:

    Dreaded,
Too right mate. We should have enough. Norwich was same deal, but now we play away. Always tricky.
Hope we continue because it is great to give the Zaha’s and Lindergaards a game.

Hoping to see Cole and the Keane brothers, but maybe not v Stoke.

Would be fun to see RvP resume his feud with Shawcross but I imagine Robin will be now where to be seen in a League cup tie. Nice if we can do them again as always. Good for the B team to get a good run of games.

  5. samuel - united WE stand says:

Hughes always seems more motivated when his teams are up against united, expect a tough test, we will need experience and battlers in for this.. The competition as a whole will be tough to win, very tough.

  6. DreadedRed says:

FletchTM, home tie is all you can hope for, and Stoke got it. That’s their only hope I feel, for our unleashed fringe players will be too hungry to resist. Not that it will be easy. Who knows, but Rio and Vida might be starting that game too. Agreed, no RVP unless Hernandez starts most of the games from now until mid-December, which is very unlikely.

  7. John says:

Stage set for Moyes and Felliani..Get it wide and whip it in! Get it wide and whip it in! Get it wide and whip it in! Get it wide and whip it in!

  8. DreadedRed says:

GimpJohn the wide-boy obviously likes a good whipping.

  9. zaha says:

Away at Stoke could be tricky tbh

  10. The Truth says:

Should be another easy win. The semi final against either City, Chelsea or Spurs will be very interesting!

  11. Wee Toms Ligaments says:

Seems the FA has finally gotten something correct. Expect a Chelsea/United semi and City/Spurs in the other. FA will want City/Chelsea final but will settle for City/United.

  12. harris says:

    come on leicester

  13. Foxy says:

Leicester are doing well at home don’t rule them out

  14. NBI Red Moyesy says:

@ Wee Toms – The FA may want that, but they are presently unable to organise a piss up in Romford and are far to stupid to have the ability to do anything machiavellian unless it happens completely by accident when they were trying to do something else.

  15. Wee Toms Ligaments says:

Maybe UEFA stepped in and helped them “seed” the draw? Ya know, to accomplish the El Classico final that EVERYONE wanted?

  16. DreadedRed says:

“Nick [Powell] is a natural footballer and is very much like a Wayne Rooney,” said Owen Coyle. “I know United have a position where they think Wayne is best but in my eyes he can play anywhere such is his football intelligence on the pitch. Nick Powell is like that.”

  17. DreadedRed says:

“People ask you who is your best Man United team, “said Sir Alex at a question and answer evening in Glasgow. “It is absolutely impossible. You look at the strikers I had, going back to McClair, Hughes, Cole, Cantona, van Nistelrooy, Saha, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, Yorke, Teddy Sheringham. Then to the present players, Wayne Rooney, van Persie, Chicharito.”

“How do you pick out of that? Cantona and somebody else?”

“The midfield was probably a bit easier because you have Keane, Robson and Scholes, they were fantastic players and Beckham, Ronaldo and Giggs.”

“But honestly, I would say Denis Irwin would be the one certainty to get in the team. I called him an eight out of 10. At Highbury in one game he had a bad pass back in the last minute and Bergkamp came in and scored. After the game the press said ‘you must be disappointed in that pass back?’

“I said, ‘well, one mistake in 10 years isn’t bad.’ He was an unbelievable player.”

  18. CTRED says:

I guess we’ll find out who can cut it on a cold rainy Tuesday in Stoke!

  19. DreadedRed says:

Rooney, Kagawa, Januzaj, whatever … I’d suggest that in living memory the 10-role was best played by Bo Derek, who brought us shape, power, great statistics and most importantly, dreads.

  20. Charlie B says:

I too think it is impossible to select Sir Alex’s best team. God, look at the striking options! But here is my selection, guaranteed to be dismissed by all:

    Schmeichel
    Neville, Rio, Stam, Evra
    Ronaldo, Beckham, Robson, Giggs
    Ruud, Rooney

    Second XI:

    Van der Sar
    Irwin, Pallister, Vidic, Sharpe
    Kanchelskis, Keane, Scholes, Cantona
    Van Persie, Hughes

  27. Canada says:

Great draw for the fringe players!

    John is having a laugh.
Fellaini is cup tied. Oh, and I’m fairly certain nobody is going to sanction an air battle against Stoke’s land of giants.
