What a legend!

Fools Gold was one of the best tunes ever, and the Stones are THE best band to ever come out of Manchester. Was in a pub once when he was there and we spent the whole night bursting out randomly into chants. Top laugh, and a top bloke.

Who gives a shit about England really?

Loved it when the England team lost vs Croatia and were knocked out of Euro 2008 qualification with no United players in the team.

I’m only interested in England if United players are involved. In the ’66 World Cup Bobby Charlton’s goals against Mexico (what a bullet!) and Portugal in the semi always meant far more to me than the Final itself, although of course I was glad England won – because Bobby & Nobby were playing. I was always narked that Alf Ramsey didn’t use John Connelly, despite having him in the squad. He was a good pacy, direct winger who got a lot of goals for United and was a vital part of the Championship winning team of 64-65 and he deserves to be better remembered. England would have been far more entertaining with him giving the Wingless Wonders a bit of width. Ramsey could have dropped, say, Roger Hunt (rhymes with…) who I never liked because, of course, he played for Liverpool.
