Gerry Gooner – I think you’ll find Fergie was referring to the improvement of “discipline” at the club since the infamous Keane-Stamm incident many moons ago.
Your use of the term “jingoism” was also incorrect as Ronaldo is certainly not a Brit and therefore this is not a typical “Johnny Foreigner” article.
And to your final point, there has always been mass hysteria every time a Utd player is accused of diving. Hysteria which led to your very own manager asking for players to be banned for diving.
But please don’t let facts get in the way of your silly little rant….

I think you’ll find that ferguson said (while ronaldo (& rooney) was still at the club) that Utd didn’t have a problem with diving. Correct Ronaldo is not a brit but was one of yours just as much as Pires was one of ours. My point obviously is that every club has or has had divers- and not all of them are or were foreign. Do you remember as much media fuss over Rooney’s dive against Arsenal- when Sol Campbell could be clearly seen moving his leg away? That decison decised the course of a game- last nights tie was already over.

HIlarious again. Rooney Ronaldo Giggs Carrick Owen? This is typical jingoism. Johnny Foreigner Eduardo dives for a peno but Rooney Gerrard and Co. ‘draw the foul’. ‘Clever play’ when its a brit and anyone else is bringing the game into disrepute. He dived- his first one I think. Ronaldo may be gone but Rooney has dived and committed unpunished GBH every second game beacuse he’s englands untouchable. Yet more double standards from this site.

Gooners,

The article is simply asking whether the ref on Saturday would be influenced by what happened last night. Utd have suffered from this in the past when Ronaldo has been caught diving and then refused a legitimate penalty in the very next game. A reasonable article to post on a UNITED blog. If you don’t like it then perhaps you should stick to reading comments from your myopic manager…
