  25. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    Breaking news!!!
    Malaysian cleric agrees with Glazers idea of replacing the devil on Uniteds shirts for the blue peter badge. Glazers happy as it represents the ship taking the founding fathers to America whilst injecting blue into the team colours. Go red white and blue, yeah wo, yeah.
    Malaysian cleric happy because it represents the cruiser that carries tourists to his islands, the countries biggest source of income.

  26. RedScot says:

    Some way to go. Nothing like a bit of self massaging. lol
    And we Scots just go into Gaelic and wink and smile at each other. lmao

  27. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    Philadelephia union is an amazing read up on

    4 years ago this team was an idea in one mans head- and in 3 and a half years they got everything from a board to corner flags and everything and i mean everything in the middle and played there first ever game 6 months ago-

  33. marsy the red says:

    I dont wanna get my hopes up on Cleverly at the moment. Martin and Eagles performed well in United friendlies but they were no where near United standard

  34. NewYorkYankee says:

    Hi everybody! Good to see Man U in the States!

  35. Kev Kev says:

    I agree Marsy, its all about not getting hopes up.

    Nevertheless, I still get excited about his potential.

    Whats the starting 11?

  36. NewYorkYankee says:

    And 5 hours away in Boston, Celtic FC is playing Sporting Lisbon….a great day for soccer in the USA.

  37. Toms says:

  39. catotraa says:

    True, true. But Cleverley did very, very well during his time on loan, can’t remember Eagles and Martin doing just that well

  40. marsy the red says:

    Line Up:

  51. NewYorkYankee says:

    God, not Vuvuzelas

  52. RedScot says:

    Thats several times Fred’s name has been mentioned on the match, sadly not on the blog.

  53. NewYorkYankee says:

    Philly looking outclassed

  54. RedScot says:

    This Team is fit not unlike the USA team we saw in the world cup

  55. NewYorkYankee says:

    Definitely curious to see how they set up Fenway Park for soccer in the Celtic/Lisbon game. Can’t do anything about the stench of Red Sox fans, though….

  56. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    I’d like to see a little more passing from macheda and a little less doing too much, as it were

  57. socratestee says:

    whats thd match like. i dont have access to it. its 00 53 here

  58. NewYorkYankee says:

    Stupid Boston fans wearing their Celtics basketball jersey to support Celtic…even though Celtic is Scottish, not Irish. Morons.

    Philadelphia will not be able to match this pace for 90 minutes. No way.

  59. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    @NewYorkYankee

    Relax with the “man u ” talk brother – its united man utd man united or manchester united or the red devils – I take it you dont know why i just ask that respect my simple request

  62. socratestee says:

    @goatinaunitedshirt i am on a phone so cant watch it

  63. NewYorkYankee says:

    By the way, a lot of Americans are watching a Premier League side for the very first time today!

  64. RedScot says:

    I just think Gabriel is growing to the task just showing his class and what Sir Alex identified

  65. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    @NewYorkYankee

    as i say mate , i would never think that you would say it to be disrespectful to the fallin but i was just asking mate

  66. RedScot says:

    Cmon Danny and Fredrico its coming I smell a goal

  67. NewYorkYankee says:

    Celtic FC have the worst kits I’ve ever seen. They look like Leprechauns in Prison

  68. wathall says:

    Decent start to the match although Kiko and Cleverley are struggling to get involved in the game

  69. bigphil2003 says:

    Kiko seems to run offside an awful lot…

  70. NewYorkYankee says:

    Great save.

  71. RedScot says:

    aHHHH Danny boy,

  72. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    @bigphil- i was gonna type that as i read it

  73. united.george says:

    Scholesey you legend

  74. kyith says:

    i would like to see cleverley get more of the ball

  75. NewYorkYankee says:

    I was worried the effort wouldn’t be there but Philly really really seem to want to win.

  76. kyith says:

    with cleverley and scholes in the middle there don’t seem to be any protection

  77. RedScot says:

    Paul Scholes one of the best midfielders in the world EVER gets a yellow card. Nuffing new there then.

  78. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    Giggs has been giving Kiko a bit of jip.

  79. TheEvilDog says:

    Wow, that was some terrible 45min, i thought the young guys would step up and show their best..guess im wrong!

  80. bigphil2003 says:

    This game needs a bit of berbamagic.. or else I may go to bed!

  81. Linvoy says:

    Kiko deserves some jip off sir Ryan… And he better be listening to him too!

  82. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    @The EvilDog
    its not that bad mate, i still think United will score 4 or more.

    Well impressed with Wellbeck, he looks like he could be something at OT, love the way he comes in from the left and does his work out wide. Macheda is another story, Im not so convinced as I wasn’t at any time last season. I think possible Macheda is suited to slower more thought out football, Seria A maybe. Scholes runs the show. Evans looks awkward when the balls played to him and its time to move it along the back line.

  83. inmoscowwemadeit3 says:

    just an easy going run out. Much more intensity in this game compared to the celtic game which at times was a stroll. Union have done well and probably deserve a goal.

  84. Welbz19 says:

    Danny has been very impressive!! Kiko and Obertan can be pretty infuriating both trying far to hard

  85. Drew Vader says:

    Obertan and Macheda are struggling….

    And I’m a huge Cleverly fan I admit, but I honestly think he is going to be a cracking little player. If not for us then for some other lucky prem side.

  86. RedScot says:

    @Goat what you mean mate i think is…. Fredrico is being groomed for the Champions league games. As you say in your post not for the the EPL.
    Its all planning and forward thinking.

  87. RedScot says:

    FFS the game is two different situations EPL and Cl, Sir ALEX I think knows this dont you.

  88. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    @Red Scot
    He could well be being groomed for Champions League but its a big expense just grooming a player for 10 odd matches per year and when it comes down to it will he be happy with that arangement. Hes a clever player but is he trying to be too clever too soon.

  89. chaosred says:

    we should send macheda out on loan he has got nothing what is he good at? our worst stricker

  90. chaosred says:

    wellbeck is really showing him up, he’s been involved in everything, macheda is overrated because of one goal imo

  91. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    To give him credit chaosred, he is a worker, hes brave and has good possitional sense. A bit like Berbatov his style deceives.

  92. RedScot says:

    I get really enthused reading about Manchester United supporters views
    I wont comment my real feelings on the last two points

  93. bigphil2003 says:

    Much better already

  94. bigphil2003 says:

    I hope Rafael plays the majority of our games this season, he’s gonna be a superstar.

  95. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    @bigphil2003

    Me too he’s the reason i was against the idea of spending shite loads on a new right back. The press keep linking us with right backs (lahm for one) but im more than happy with Rafael. Personally i think hes better than Lahm.

  96. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    fucking yessssssssssssssss

  97. NewYorkYankee says:

    That was horrible. union just pissed away the match.

  98. RedScot says:

    Get IN there Gabriel as I said growing to the task!

  99. united.george says:

    Welbeck is man of the match for me

  100. chaosred says:

    @goat berbatov is always on the ball, i dont get kiko’s game

  101. Jaansdad says:

    @ redscot

    just seen your piss post about nani.
    Don’t worry friend I’ll get you a picture for bedroom wall lol.

  102. NewYorkYankee says:

    Manchester United’s subs running circles around the gassed Philadelphia

  103. RedScot says:

    Ohh YA fucker Dimatar, close mate off the scruncher

  104. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    @caosred
    Berbatov is a play maker and comes deep to collect the ball and has a mountain of experience comapared to Macheda. Macheda could come good, I just feel i haven’t seen the same amount of development from him that ive seen from others. Its way to early to say goodbye to him, some players are late bloomers ala Forlan.

  105. RedScot says:

    @ Jans dad lol , you know i joke and piss about like most lads.
    Another result for the Reds, but please arrange that picture! pmsl
    Away to my kipper with my best friend, Spilt Arse.
    The boys got some excercise.

  106. chaosred says:

    Yea i know i didn’t compare kiko to berba you did,

    To me ever since the goal he scored against Aston villa iv’e seen nothing to suggest he would make it, think he should go on loan. On the other hand Wellbeck has got loads to his game more than kiko. Man of the math for me. Kiko won’t be ready for united for few years yet, and some fans want him in the first team this season. They are blinded by a wonder goal, i say send him out on loan let him gather experience elsewhere.

  107. Linvoy says:

    Rapheal is the business… Hoping Fabio can step up too maybe just bit rusty! Berba is class act! Obertan has got some talent… Just needs fine tuning!

    Night all.

  108. obertanthenewstar says:

    obertan and rafael.. what a pair
    obertan is looking good.. has got amazing amount of pace!! just needs to work on finishing even though he finished cooly and on his crosses..
    p.s rafael is brilliant!!! that one run was worth the entry fee.. he will be world class… oshea looked shite and gave the ball away time after time as he always does… rafael and fabio to start games more!! also fabio starting gives a idea that pat will be rested more this season.. with fabio likely to start… its looking good for us… welbeck needs to work on his finishing and well basically most things.. macheda??? go out of loan son.. diouf will be ahead of you and he just came last season.. we still love you for that goal tho!!!

  109. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    @chaosred
    sorry i didn’t mean Berbatovs and Machedas PLAYING style were similar I meant their style of looking like they take it easy. Running around like a Tevez looks good to fans as it shows a work ethic, strolling and strutting tends to make you enemies. Hope thats cleared that up.

  110. NotoriousRedDevil says:

    Viv Anderson on Berbatovs shot that hit the crossbar – “A Russian Linesman would have given that.”

    Funny Bastard! All things considered did alright for a 2nd pre -season game vs a team who are half way through the season. Impressed with the young’uns. Lets not write Kiko off he’s the youngest one in that squad and so far taken more of his opportunities than Welbeck . He would have played a lot more had he not got injured last season. His movement is good as is his first touch although tonight wasn’t his best game.

  111. Fze123 says:

    I still think Macheda is better and has more potential than Welbeck, despite their performances today. Just that today one was eager to make a good impression and did well, the other disappointed a lot. Kiko will come good next season when given oppourtinities, and I’d like to see Diouf going out on loan instead of Welbeck. Cory did very well too.

  112. obertanthenewstar says:

    why would u want diouf to go out on loan? diouf has speed and finishing… welbeck needs to work on his finishing still and first touch and movement and how many times has he been out on loan? welbeck is not the answer… the real reason why we won is because of rafael’s energy.. he changed the game.. thats my opinion anyone agree??

  113. Costas says:

    Missed the game again, but I woke up at 5 am. Argh. Anyway, nicely taken goal by Obertan. Can’t say the same about his celebration though!

  114. DOn says:

    Cleverly best performing youngster in this game with Obertan and Welbeck a close second. Rafael seems so much more steady than Fabio its unreal..possibly because Fabio is playing on the left as a ritghty..but he has played there his while career but he just seems less steady on the ball and more prone to losing it….Macheda still looks good but didn’t link up well today…he has very nice touch and is quick but needs to link up better…its funny almost like Fergie wanted to try the old youth/reserve pairing of Welbeck Macheda but it didn’t quite come off…this game should have easily been a draw or United loss but good result all the same..Obertan just needs to know when to slow down a tad and pick his moments to use his pace and skill..more often than not he looks a man in a hurry and forgets the ball or gives it away cheaply…Scholes pure class..GIggs facilitating…COrry Evans cameo was ok..looked a busy little player…

  115. Josh-2b-King says:

    Introduction of Berba and Rafael after 60 minutes changed the game flow.
    Our attacks became sharper and meaningful..
    PIG did well, except one sloppy save in front of himself.
    Danny was indisputable MOM.

  116. Ash says:

    obertanthenewstar
    Completely agree with u mate that rafael was the difference maker.I have always been saying that rafael should be our regular rb now instead of nev or oshea.I would be hugely surprised if nev starts more than rafael this season.
    I think people should not write off macheda or for that matter any other youngster so early.

  117. friveluss says:

    @obertanthenewstar

    WHAT!!!! diouf has finishing!?!?!? im sorry but what makes you think that? i have seen this lad waste chance after chance at both international level for senegal and for the reserves!!! i dont know where you get the idea he finishes well from!

  118. aig alex is god says:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jul/22/manchester-united-forbes-rich-list

    United are the most valued Sports club in the world

  119. Costas says:

    14 is not that dreaded. After all, David May and Jordi Cruyff have worn it, lol.

    Watching highlights of the game. I wonder if the loan move awoke Welbeck.

  120. aig alex is god says:

    @Costas

    Tosic and Alan Smith didn t do to well mate. Neither did Cruyff or David May. HOping Javier can do much better than his predecessors in the number 14

  121. bigphil2003 says:

    @aig – Heinze never wore number 14, but sure when have the daily mail let the truth get in the way of a good story?
    Hopefully Chicharito will be the first really successful 14 since… kanchelskis? Really?! I can see why its ‘dreaded’.
    Though in my opinion Smithy did alright for us and scored one of the best European goals ive seen.

  122. Costas says:

    @AIG

    Like bigphil, I thought Smith did ok. And yes, Heinze never played a simple game with 14. He just got it because Hargo got 4. And David May got 14 only in the twilight of his United career because Seba had 4. It’s ok though. Numbers don’t have anything to do with it.

  123. aig alex is god says:

    @bigphil

    Yeah but i expected more from Smithy. He never was the same player after that injury. Shame for that. remember him scoring some vital late goals in the seasons before his horrible injury

    I am more than confident Hernandez will do a great job. As i said yesterday i have a funny feeling this kid is going to be one of the best strikers in the years to come. Cant wait to see him in the United jersey

  124. King Eric says:

    I have always thought Kiko would make it ahead of Danny. On recent eveidence I may be wrong. Wellbeck looks alot better. More fluid than last season and has bulked up more. He is great on the ball and better positionally. Really starting to rate the kid. Obertan showed flashes. Berbatov looks sharp as fuck. The twins fantastic. Really excited about the season.

  125. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    said it many times about the number 7 shirt

    the number doesnt make the player the player makes the number 20LEgend

  126. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    the dreaded number in the future of manchester united has to be 11

    they should hang that bad boy up

  127. Fze123 says:

    @obertanthenewstar, Diouf is not a great finisher. His passing is also erratic and needs to be worked on. He would benefit from first team starts at another club, get used to the football played here and gain more experience – it’ll do him wonders. Welbeck on the other hand has developed progressively and is ready for the first team, imo. What impressed me most from his performance yesterday was the lack of selfishness, which he clearly cut out from his game.

  128. davide says:
