  2. Raj_Red_Devil says:

Now why is O’shea chosen ahead of Carrick and Gibson in the midfield?

  3. pat rice says:

Utd XI: Vds, Nev, Rio, Vida, Evra: O’Shea, Fletch, Scholesy; Nani, Berba, Chich. Subs: Wes, Smal, Kus, Carr, Ober, Mach, Gibbo

  4. radzio says:

You can watch match here using free live streams

  5. jesmonta says:

Why O’Shea ? Why ? The Boss lost the Plot or What ?

  6. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

O’shea will play LB and Evra at LM

  7. Costas says:

Nah, I think it’s probably O’Shea in midfield with Evra at left back. I would like to see Evra as a winger again though.

  8. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    @Costas
Well which ever way it certainly makes Pulis’s team talk awkward

  9. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

If Osheas in midfield though id expect him on the right and nani over to the left!!

  10. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    Unless we play 4-3-3

  11. manutdthebest says:

O’shea ? sorry for being negative about this.. but why?

  12. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

O.shea because he offers the ability of changing the team during play from a 4-4-2, to 4-4-3, can play all over the pitch and on either side allowing Nani to pick which wing or opposition he has to face. Allows Evra to get back and gives much better options should sub be needed by not neccessarily having to replace like for like. Something Carrick and Gibson cant do.

  13. Costas says:

    @Goat

Yeah, I meant 4-3-3. That’s the first thing I thought about anyway. But you can never rule out Fergie pulling off a surprise.

  14. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    looks like Evras at LM

  15. The Real AB says:

We can do with a Win and a Comfortable one at that please.

A 4-0 win would be great.

  16. The Real AB says:

Team is playing well but for the final ball. We should have scored atleast 1 goal by now.

  17. Viva Gonaldo says:

O’Shea starting because of delap long throws do people on this have any clue bout football

  18. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

Viva Gonaldo No mate we’re all fuckin retards on here. With Sheaseys skill set and mercurius ways of playing up field I dont understand fully your tactic. The more Sheasey hoofs it into touch the more chances Delap gets to chuck it in. Im not clued up on tactics but no doubt we’ll be beneficial of your wisdom.

  19. iwinisalegend says:

Why all the negativity towards O’Shea! Are these people even real United fans!!!

  20. Kevin says:

We are breaking well but we are lacking that final pass or clinical finish. We are getting in good positions but we are not maintaining consistent pressure. I think we had to go with O’Shea because of the height of Stoke’s attacking line. Early still to draw any meaningful interpretations. Except CHICHARITO!!!!

  21. chicharito14 says:

    chicharitoooooo

  22. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

what a bloody header. back of the head.

  23. slim says:

That lad knows where the net is.End of

  24. Kevin says:

What quick thinking and innovation to score that goal. He is playing with a lot of confidence. Lots of good runs, good touches, and good connection with the midfield.

  25. Viva Gonaldo says:

Everyones saying why is he playing and blah blah blah the only poxy reson him and nev are playing is that there bigger than evra whos left wing and rafael

  26. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

neville bigger than Rafael, yeah by an eighth of an ince mate. You wont find me dissing oshea. He’s not the silkiest of players but in my eyes more useful than carrick and gibbo. But thats my opinion and it doesnt come with rude gestures.

  27. carloc1978 says:

good half great spirit from the lads. great goal whatt a header bust so lucky to have ten men still on the pitch! think sir alex should maybe think bringing nev off soon we cant be playing with ten men!

  28. Costas says:

Goat you were right mate. Evra at left midfield and all over the place in general, lol. Sheasy has done very well so far.

And what a goal by Chicha!

  29. GoatinaUnitedShirt says:

    carloc1978
looking that way mate, i think the neviller knows hes there by the skin on his teeth,

  30. United4eva says:

Chicharito’s the reason we shouldn’t be too worried about what Rooney does or doesn’t wanna do with his future. The lads gonna score a truckload of goals for us.

We’ve definately upped our game today especially defensively. All of a sudden the back four looks formidable even against the so-called physical strength of Stoke and Fletch has been back to his old self prowling around the centre of midfield just in front of them.

If Nani can just get himself in the game and get some quick balls across the box I reckon we’ve got the beating of Faye and Shawcross.

  31. Costas says:

I don’t know if it’s because Stoke are cap, but we are looking quite comfortable defensively.

  32. Costas says:

    *Crap*

  33. bchilds says:

Cracking goal from Chicharito! Neville luck to still be on the pitch, don’t want game 600 ending early! Personally I don’t think the first was a yellow but the second definitely!

  34. Doghouse says:

Bit worried about the amount of attack we’re under, but our own attack has looked sharp where theirs hasn’t, so we -should- win that battle. Again though it seemed for a long time like we were conceding the midfield rather cheaply, and picking up cards in the process.

Would like to see us dominate the midfield in the second half, though I can appreciate that might not be possible given the fact it’s an incredibly narrow pitch and they’ve got some incredibly broad players. Might be nice to give them the run around too, can’t imagine their big lads can keep up the pace all day if they are having to chase the ball.

  35. james21 says:

Scott. Can you start doing comentry as well. These Sky wankers are totally anti Utd. Any utd tackle is a foul and any Stoke is a solid challenge.
Chicharito ,Great goal he looks on fire and very sharp.

  36. Doghouse says:

    @Costas

Stoke are crap, but they’ve overcome that. So they are crap, but they are effective. Ball into the box from corners, throws, crosses, whatever they can get, and a squad of massive brute players who can score with headers and tap ins waiting for it to arrive. It’s effective at home for them as their record attests.

  37. united.george says:

Viva Mexico!!! What a great goal. Who knew you can head the ball with the back of your head with that much power….then he turns and kisses the badge, somehow I have more confidence in a kid from mexico playing for united than someone else:)

  38. Redrider says:

We don’t create As much chances as we did last Season…so we can’t put à Game to bed…the Passung is awful…Hope they prove me wrong

  39. james21 says:

Fuckin hell Evra play to the Whistle. COME ON UTD!

  40. Clem says:

No, no, no, no!!! CARRICK – DO ONE

  41. RedGem says:

    Too heartbreaking…I can’t watch this anymore… :(

  42. slim says:

great ist half gave ball away to much 2nd but there goal woke us back up come on united!

  60. reddallas says:

    WE WILL NEVER DIE!

  61. RedGem says:

    @samuel…exactly how I was feeling… now I can’t contain myself with excitement!!!

  62. portugueseprincess says:

God, I think I need a new heart. Viva Chicharito! :)

  63. TonyBee says:

WELL DONE LADS … YOU PROVED A POINT TODAY WITH THAT PERFORMANCE

  64. RedGem says:

    @princesss… don’t we all…. :)

  65. Che Guevarist says:

Feels really good to have the 1st away win. When Stoke scored I really thought we had developed a mental block or something, but now hopefully we’ve got it out of the way. The season pretty much starts now.

  66. samuel - united WE stand says:

hernandez is gonna be a superstar, i’ve always said he is a deadly finisher, he’ll be our 20+ goal a season striker, can’t wait to see how he develops over time, obertan looked good in his cameo role, he is ready for the first team, has bucked up and i’m guessing sir alex is turning him into another powerful winger but with more technical ability, all he needs now is the end product.

I’m delighted with the win, winning at stoke ain’t easy trust me and when we conceded i thought oh fuck here we go.

  67. james21 says:

What a fight that was 3 tough points won there nearly thown away. Time for a beer now.

  68. pibe says:

i wonder whos man of the match

  69. Doghouse says:

This game has been brilliant. All season we’ve lacking that extra gear in attack, the sharpness to kill off a game at the end, and today it returned with a vengeance. Stoke are a really tough game at home but we had their number, great result. It’s the kind of match you can easily have to take a point from but the team, today, did not look interested in only getting one point. And sure it wasn’t easy and it was a battle, but that’s hard games aren’t easy, that’s why they are called hard games. :)

United needed a big performance and a big win and we just got both at once.

Man of the match for me would be Nani, had a top game. But I thought Evra played a blinder as well and showed his old form. Good to see Brown and SuperGary back as well, both need games and they won’t get much tougher workouts than this. Also Vidic and Rio were immense at the back, given the power of the Stoke attack for them to allow -nothing- at all on goal from the big attackers was a fantastic effort. How anybody can fit a guy as big as Kenwyne Jones in their pocket is a mystery.

  70. TonyBee says:

OH WELL OFF FOR ME ROAST DINNER LADS &LASSES….ROAST CHICKEN TODAY….. LEAST I CAN EAT IT AND ENJOY IT AFTER THIS RESULT. BET THEM MOTD BASTARDS RIP TODAY’S GAME TO PIECES
ROAST DINNER WITH ALL THE TRIMMINGS,
A UTD WIN AND A BIT OF KIP …. SIGH ….WHAT SUNDAYS ARE ALL ABOUT….SEE Y’ALL

  71. Che Guevarist says:

A Shitty-Gooner draw and a blackburn win is all I need now :)

  72. slim says:

All in all good day out for the lads, and what a lucky fan that fella is. Hernandez looks like he’ll score a shit load for United. Well done boys

  73. united.george says:

Evra for winger!!! he does create lots of chances and disrupts defences more than Park or others…

O’shea did not have a great game and kept giving passes away….anyway loving the berba/chicha partnership….

were the united fans singing viva ronaldo? i thought I heard that chant

  74. samuel - united WE stand says:

@RedGem – same here, when the second goal went in, i thought i was in dream land because we seem to be the one that always concedes late on, i was shaking in nervousness but its a fantastic win at a difficult stadium.

  75. RedGem says:

I’m also very happy that SAF was more animated today, even standing at the touchline…I was concerned in the last games when he was just sitting down looking thoughtfully at the game. He’s is a fighting mode now,

    VIVA SIR ALEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  76. Farhan Borst says:

we need to pass the ball forward more often… getting too predictable passing t defenders always

  77. United4eva says:

CHICHO, CHICHO, CHICHO!! Legend in the making.

  78. RedGem says:

we were playing 433 – today.. Pat was the 3rd forward…I think he well bloody means business now… :)

But, bring out the burritos!!!! :)

  79. Costas says:

Wasn’t too impressed with our performance to be honest. No urgency at all. Just kept inviting them to come to us. The defence had a game good game though.

Oh and viva Chicha! Rooney who? :P I love Berbachic. :P

  80. RedGem says:

@costas…yes. we weren’t at out best, giving the ball away, loose passes and all that but I am just so relieved and ecstatic with the 3 points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Berbachic…love it! :)

  81. sprite says:

I actually want Arsenal to win.. hate to see City infront of us!!

  82. samuel - united WE stand says:

You know what, rooney will struggle to get back in the team when he gets back, no special treatment for him so if hernandez continues his form, he should be left in the team, anyone agree?

hernandez and berba seem to make a good combination to be honest and i’m not suprised they combinate so well.

  83. RedGem says:

@samuel..from the get go (summer warm up games) I thought berba and chicha has great chemistry and understanding..

  84. Costas says:

    @RedGem

Me too. And once you start failing in away games time after time, you start becoming cautious in your approach. I think that’s why they team was uptight today. Now that the first away win is in the books, we can start building momentum.

  85. RedGem says:

@Costas…I think it was important that the team did not panic and kept their focus at 1-1. I think Berba brings that calmness to the team. Giggs usually does that, too, but..no Gggs today.

this should bring more confidence and fight to our boys.

  86. Gandalf says:

Wow… Chico saved us. What a striker… he definitely knows where the net is.
Love the celebration with the fan.

It is such a relief… I was almost screaming to keep the ball and not cross in the last few minutes.

O’Shea did alright today… as long as the defenders don’t make mistakes, we will be ok.

What exactly happened with the Gary Neville substitution? congrats on the 600 Gary, well done.

  87. Costas says:

    @RedGem

Berbatov’s goals might have dried up, but he is very influential in our game. And today it was evident again for me that he likes players making runs beyond him. He is not that effective at leading the line.

  88. RedGem says:

@costas…agree, unfortunately a lot of fans cann’t see his contribution…if we have a great midfield he could still be effective as a lone striker, esp. if Giggs is there…

well, off to watch the shitty arse game… let it be a draw..

  89. slim says:

@ samuel – united WE stand

Fuck yeah he should sweat on the bench, i’ve been saying it. No reason why we should make it easy for him. He’ll know he has to step it up big time to be considered, all we need is for Hernandez to score the winner against City and he’s fucked big time. Come on Hernandez !!!!

  90. xol says:

    Boyatta sent off for city!

  91. CedarsDevil says:

Absolutely delighted, Hernandez fantastic……….. John O’shea was brilliant today…

Strange though, when we fail to win we get over 800 posts here, when we win its far less… makes you wonder

    UNITED for life

  92. frankie says:

What do you think of Evra as a left midfielder? I thought he did really well and he is probably our best option at this moment.
I thought that Rio and Vidic were inmense. And what of Berbarito?? Great combo!

  93. Legolas says:

Hey! Thanks mates. was at church and couldn’t watch de game, but your reactions has got me excited like i watched it myself. love you all, Berbachic and O’shea… lol.. God says hi.

  94. slim says:

    @CedarsDevil says

Quite simple really, there no news like bad news, thats what gets everyone talking i guess

  95. thekid says:

what was the chant by utd fans in first half…..something along lines of “still only one man utd”??

  96. slim says:

I’d urge everyone to check out the comments by Hernandez and maybe a certain Mr Rooney should as well

    http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid={F9E570E6-407E-44BC-800F-4A3110258114}&newsid=6653031

  97. Gee says:

    @ CedarsDevil

Don’t know what match you were watching but O’Shea was shite again, he gave the ball away countless times and it was simple passing that escaped him!! Thats why he got taken off, he was becoming a liability. Still not 100% happy with the performance, glad we won but we still sat back and let them come on to us too much. Thankfully we got the win today!!

  98. ethiored says:

I was angry when I saw Oshea and G.Neville on the team shit. What ever people say, at this moment in their career they are not good enough for United (or we really have no ambition as some people say). Our players kept making loose passes all game long.

  99. Ubibi Godwin Jr says:

You could see how the whole team was celebrating with the fan that got into the pitch when chicarito scored the winner,i wished i was that fan,you don’t know how it feels to be amongst the players. But in all am so happy for my darling team but there is still lots of work to do,we need a left winger,a defensive midfielder and a creative midfielder and probably a back up for evra. Our Mr utility John Oshea should retire or sold,he is of no good to the club.Giggs, scholes and neville united most faithful servants should retire while the ovation is loudest, they should take a cue from Eric cantona.Sir Alex needs to be active in the transfer market, and he should stop playing these players out of position, for fuck sake evra is a defender not a winger, you will never see clichy or Ashly Cole playing from left midfield. He did that with nani last season by playing him on the left side of midfield,he also played Rooney from left midfield during the champions league final against Barcelona.Let the right players play the right position and they will give you the goals, carrick should be sold same as Gibson for all he knows how to do is shoot. The truth is bitter but it has to be told,we cant keep hiding from the fact.Real Madrid are improving by the day because they are active in the transfer market.I thought we were going to get ozil but he was snapped under our very nose, why did SAF go to Fulham and watched him play if he was not going to buy him, what took SAF so long before he gave carlos tevez a permanent deal.Rooney loves this club and he doesn’t want to be like Gerrard who has never won the premier league in his whole life.I am a true united through and through and I i think our dear club is in great debt, please our red knight in shiny Armour come and save us from the glazers.Long live United.
