I HOPE SOMETHING YOU LOVE CATCHES ON FIRE ,PHIL
Wolfsburg are losing at Moscow. So even a draw tonight will be enough to secure top spot in the group.
I wanted Owen to start and score a hat trick.
anyone watching the CSKA game, Krasic looks a great talent.Has had a great game and scored a screamer.would be agreat signing for us if we sell nani
Evening all!
Team:
Foster, Nev, vidic , wes, rafael, obertan, gibson, anderson, park, welbeck and macheda.Nani on bench!
No dippers on? Cheering on the remaining English contingent? No? Thought not!……………..The scum.
What a laugh last night eh?
Krasic on his way to Spain or Italy I believe, shame! was a great goal.
Owen and Berba on bench anyone?
Only owen on the bench. No berb or rooney!
Thanks Vishal! Thought Berba may of got a little run out.
i had a feeing rafael would play LB, evra really needed a rest and fabio’s out, and i know both of them can play on either side. would love for macheda to score. aaah i’m excited
hey, so since wolfsburg lost, are we top of our group?
Jellybean: Yes we are………… Love the word jellybean!
We are top now!. And if we draw today we can secure the top spot:-)
Wouldve liked Owen to start. Maybe it could be a 4-3-3 with overlapping wing backs, because I can’t see Ando being great on the left wing. Hopefully Anderson will be right up with Kiko and Danny.
Red Army: me too, on for Wellbeck at half time I reckon
Hey guys… Kindly keep updating. Waited the whole damn day to catch up the match live on tele but d telecaster here in India is showing the chelski game live..Damn!:-(

R.I.P. FROM EMILY JANE BEST AND HER DADDY
Unbeliavable…
bloody hell….
ffs
erm i think that’s it for Ben Foster.. Maybe another 5 years or never…
We always drop a silly one in this competition. But now we’ll see what the young guns are really made of. Come on United
Good grief, Foster does nothing to help himself.
Horrid deflection. Can’t blame the Ben for that.
oh a deflection? i didnt see that.. i thought he was zoning out
How many more chances…
haha i love watching these youngsters enjoying themselvs out there
Guys admit it… Its over foster! Yes the goal was a bit deflected.. But his positioning was just poor! Sell him in january we’d rather be wit two good keepers for now… Obertan’s the man for me at the moment! Nani beware obertans showin all the positive signs
Yeah, Obby is having a blinder. The deflection was minor and the ball went in. Foster needs first team action or to be shipped out pronto on the Nani-wagon.
Typical first half performance. For all our pretty football, we don’t get what we deserve.
Cheers ghtt.
Don’t think his positioning was poor at all. If it had gone round Raphael, Foster would’ve stopped it comfortably. We look shaky at back, especially when Ando and Gibbo have to help out. No one seems to know where their marks are. Keep it simple: “man each lads”. Other than that we look great at keeping the ball and going forward. There’s no way the visitors can keep this pace.
GET STUCK IN LADS
We are playing some good football just need to finish it of.
Haha the Nani-wagon. Yeah lads, Foster was very poor for the goal. We really need to bring in a keeper.
Obertan is having a blinder??? I must be watching some other game. Decent yes, blinder is a biiiiiiiiiit far.
com on lads lay of foster, the goal wasn’t his fault.
I also dont like how the young lads bitch at each other when a move breaks down, they are all throwing their arms out to the side and staring each other down. Just win the ball back and play for fucks sake
I sound like a grumpy old man.
hope we dont end up loosing our unbeaten home record
Guys, im sorry, I know you English folks like your homegrown players but Welbeck is a waste of space, he will never make it. Sorry. I rather see Tosic.
why the hell is that twat flopping about on the ground?
time wasting already!
@ishaq
a bit harsh mate, welbeck is still young and has shown a great ability to score goals at every other level he’s played at for united.
maybe let him get some games and years under his belt before you dismiss his relevance to the team. it would be better to judge his performance in a proper starting xi, and paired with wazza or berbatov up top.
Let’s face it … Gibson, Macheda and Wellbeck just don’t have it. Gibson especially …. Get Rid him, Fergie.
blantant penalty
dave mack
agree totaly them three dont seem to have it, obertan looks good..and its a joke that we didnt get a penalty but its a joke why should have needed one..shite
danny welbeck just not good enough, nowhere near.
how the fuck did macheda miss that..fuck me
i agree with you guys about them not being good enough today, but it seems more fair to judge them when they are in a stronger starting xi that only includes one of them.
nani has had more chances to show what he could do in the regular xi, and criticism of him is a lot more just. these three lads haven’t had the chance that nani has had.
great saves by their keeper today. should’ve had a pen for evra.
@RooNinho
Every other level, not this one. This is the time to show why your better then the rest. When theres no creativity, those that will blossom into greatness, bring creativity to the fore.
Playing with the kids means that he has an even better opportunity to showcase himself. A bright flourescent light amongst candles.
But no, his got no initiative. An average player at best. My judgement might be premature but I really doubt the man is going to prove me wrong.
His passing is woeful! Going foward, his got nothing. No creativity, no spark.
Macheda, in my opinion, still has a chance, but Welbeck is really out of his depth.
A bit harsh on young guns, they just didn’t show up. I have faith in Wellbeck and even more in Kiko.
P.S. I hope I never see Foster again.
ah shit happens. Were through.
Clear Penalty. Familiar?!
Our invelid fans booing. Disgrace they are. Fans leaving early. WHY?
Positive performance for the most part though.
Gabby Obertan has convinced me that he’s the real thing. Gets the crowd going whenever he gets the ball.
Bring on the overreaction on RoM, ITV, Papers etc
We are through one way or another, but that second half performance was dreadful. I won’t cry over the home record because Fergie himself showed that he didn’t care about it. I am just pissed off that it was a Turkish side that broke it(just like Fenerbahce in 96 who also had Rustu).
I am going to call it a night now because thinking about it makes my blood boil even more. Goodnight to all.
red army
my dippers mates joke that the fans leave early to get back down to london..its not an overreaction, this was a side that the dippers beat 8-0 two years ago..just hope we have a stronger side against wolfsburg
Foster had once chance to save, he f***** it up… Id prefer macheda over welbeck any day… Sorry guys but Welbeck is a very selfish player.. Anyways records are meant to be broken… N its now stress free without the record… Bring on Pompey!
mutv listen out for james from dublin
GHTT IS GONNA CHAT
It was so frustrating.Never seen worse second half performance by United. Fergie should have made changes much earlier. Some young lads simply did not perform tonight.
Hopefully, youngsters and Fergie have learned their lesson, and this defeat will not haunt us later in the competition.
A few words about our youngsters.
Macheda is a huge piece of shit. Too selfish, don’t see teammates around him.
Obertan had a good run out, but the same problem as Nani has – he can’t deliver the ball into the box, I don’t know why – he just can’t
Welbeck also a bit selfish. Should have scored today and make an assist for Park. Did neither.
Terrible game for Gibson. I expected at least a few breakthroughs and good passes from him. He was just behind Ando all the time.
Ando did the same. So they just follow each other.
Rafael – all in all it was quite good, but he should not give the guy to take a shot. Vidic was saying it to him for some time that he should cover the strike. He didn’t…
I don’t think it is fair for Owen to give him just 20 minutes, when nobody can pass the ball to him.
Evra did well. Must be a penalty
Vidic&Brown – decent game, made a mistake when guy hit the back post.
Foster – i think he did something wrong when the ball passed through him
Neville – decent. Nothing else I can say
Carrick – decent or even poor. What is wrong with him?
Park – well done.
Players like Gibson, Wellbeck and Macheda should be ashmaed of themselves. They are responsible for letting a Turkish side come to Old Trafford and beat us in the CL. When it boils down to it, they’re simply not as good as they like to think they are. Gibson especially. He’s slow, predictable and tries shots and passes he can’t pull off.
Oberton proved he’s a cut above the three of them and in the short time he had, Evra showed why he’s so critical in providing us a threat going forward.(My man of the season so far.)
Cannot believe people on here are writing off Kiko, Welbeck and especially Gibson. First performance in Europe for fuck sake.
James – recording it. Gonna listen out. Will you even get on? Its always the same people, mainly idiots.
not saying you guys are wrong in your assessment of welbeck, kiko, and gibson, i’d just like to give em a few more games before selling off. it took fletcher years to find himself and grow into the world class player he is today.
not saying these guys are fletch, just saying that patience sometimes pays off.
i think in a proper starting xi, that only includes one of them at a time, it would be a fairer way to judge them. we all saw what kiko did last year when he took his chance with a proper squad around him. their inexperience when all 3 of them were together on the pitch was glaring and had a horrible effect on the result today.
@ Ishaq and Wayne wonder Rooney….
I must agree Welbeck and Gibson today showed they are currently not good enough to play for Manchester United. Welbeck is a very selfish player and tends to take too many touches every time he gets the ball and for a striker his anticipation and movement is non league standard!!
However without writing him off too soon he is 19 tomorrow and hopefully Ferguson can coach him into thinking like a forward, otherwise he is on a slippery slope to a championship side methinks. Gibson showed today that his passing is poor, he hesitates when he can’t shoot and am confident in saying he will be shipped off by the end of this season.
There were positives though and this is what these games are all about….Obertan looks like he can play with the best although his final delivery at times does leave a lot to desire, but that will come with a little more experience, fingers crossed.
Macheda also done very well today, good movement, aggression, held the ball up well and the best thing was he knew exactly when to hold the ball and when to release it (Welbeck can learn from this kid). JSP also looked impressive on his return from injury, very assured and more classy than I have seen before….
The guys who are blaming Foster for the goal, get a life….a deflection put the ball out of his reach, so stop looking for an easy scapegoat.
All in all frustrating, but I think in the long term this can only be good for the team as it will help get rid of the dead wood in the side.
Foster couldn’t save five quid he found on the ground. One chance and he fucks it.
Poor game all around, better next time I hope. At least our starting XI will be rested to thrash Pompey.
drunk with smufm calling out out my name in the backround for help as she was coming in with emily asleep so i was shitting it i was gonna say shit
Fucking hell. Why are people slating the team. This team played tonight is young and aren’t gonna just walk over teams. Takes time people.
Disappointing evening…..lets leave it at that! Always a bit dodgy making wholesale changes, particularly with so many youngsters. I think we’d all be a little more upset had we’d put out a strong team this evening and left with injuries to key players. Really wish Owen would have had more game time!
a bit harsh on foster, who was not helped by rafael, who lets face it struggles to do the basics right i.e. positional play & tackling – both poor
WTF!! Why does my comments always go to moderation??
LOL….oh..ok, now i see it.
Promising signs of the night in my opinion were a great return from Park (MOTM in my opinion), good play from Obertan and Gibson also looked good. Unfortunately 2nd half performance was pretty woeful to be honest, there was hardly any movement, players were just standing still waiting for a pass. Anderson was piss poor and I was surprised that Gibson came off and not him.
tiger beer realy helpeed with that second half
I’m not Foster’s biggest fan but those laying into him a being a bit harsh IMO. That deflection was *just enough* to take it away from him and I don’t think even the great Rustu Recber would’ve got to that one, even based on tonight’s performance.
Disappointed the record’s gone, but with the Turks diving/cheating, the deflection, the denial of a stonewall penalty, I can only say that it simply wasn’t meant to be, tonight.
The only thing that I could criticise on our side was Nani’s non-appearance. If even Jim YSB Beglin can identify that we need someone to get crosses in to bypass the back 6 and/or congested midfield, why couldn’t SAF and Mikey P ? Our best 2 chances of the night came from crosses and yet we leave our best crosser of the ball on the bench in favour of Park and (to a lesser extent) Evra? Baffling.
You can only infer from that that Nani doesn’t have a future with us, sadly.
am i the only one who thought the most disappointing performance for all their promise tonight was ANDERSON. every time a younger player was dallying on the ball it was the player in his position that they were looking for, he never made it above a gentle stroll! granted he put in the only good in-the-air cross in the game for macheda but apart from that in the last 20mins I barely saw him commit himself, try and beat a player, pick out a killer pass or do anything other than play it sideways and WALK ON. Surely he’s not that comfortable to think he doesnt need to impress also?! I’ve always been one to side with him and prefer him in our teams, if he carrys on playing like that i’m changing my mind.
on a lighter note, having been an obertan doubter- i’m totally warming to the guy, he’s raw yes. but he’s in the right hands, needs to keep him head up looking for the quick pass or throw in like Ronaldo used to, otherwise he was our best player today (apart from evra for 10mins, did more than macheda did in the whole game- Kiko is living on his reserves form and THAT goal alone).
Not usually prone to post game commenting but second half was so casual, if was like a team of rio’s on a bad day 4-5 years ago. not good.
Just a few comments on the youngsters that i couldn’t resist.
I think Gibson is still a very good prospect. The problem is that he is not commanding in that midfield area. Same problem that Carrick has.
I was very impressed with Welbeck in the first half, but if he doesn’t learn when to pass, he won’t get ahead.
Kiko is quite impressive in his movement and his bodyshape for a player his age. However, he hasn’t been able to recreate the magic from last April. He still needs a lot of work.
“Not usually prone to post game commenting but second half was so casual, it was like a team of rio’s on a bad day 4-5 years ago. not good.”
Spot on mate. Way too casual. But this is why they’re played; they’ll learn from this and hopefully use the experience later on when they’ve matured a little.
Very poor performance tonight and until the end rarely troubled their keeper.
I thought Obertan was pretty good in the first half but Anderson didnt show up at all.
Quite gutted we lost our Euro home record too.
We’ll still get first spot but i dont think it will matter anyway as there will be decent teams coming second anyway.
I’ve calmed down a bit and can now agree that the kids need time and will learn from this. (However, I’m still writing off Gibson!)
Just hate to lose ….esp at OT!!!
At least we still have our away European record! Though if we don’t have at least one of Rooney, Berba or Giggs in Wolfsburg that could go too!
@Ishaq
with all due respect mate i don’t like it when come here and critise 18 year olds and gibson for being shit. it was their first starts in europe. i was disappointed with gibson and anderson with their running of the midfield. they were overrun and could’nt even try to tackle. i also got frustated by carrick’s lack of tackling as well. gibson’s and anderson’s passing was the most annoying because time and time again they tried long passes which did’nt reach the intended target! guys obertan is going to be a superstar!:-)
guys i think that we should move on from this game and i for one hope fergie gives them a kick up their back sides.hope we can prepare well for the pompey game and hope we bash them, chipping in a few goals would do no harm. guys i’m sad about the record but we have to move on and bounce back i’m confident we can go to wolfsburg and get a result!:-)
we are United. we’ll never DIE!!!
I am annoyed our record is up but why are people even worryed and moaning after tonight well we could be liverpool. I heard dunphy said we wont won a trophy for years, yea dunphy what happened 4 years ago to now.
bollocks……lesson learnt……..kids not good enough…so dont disrespect the clge….this aint the carling cup…
gibson? wellbeck? fuckin crap
seriously what’s with the whinging about our record? these things mean fuck all and it was bound to be broken one day, they only add more pressure in the big games anyway
brilliant home records that stood for eternity ruined in minutes……by one of the crappest teams in clge history.
now gotta risk players against wolfsburg….such a difficult away game now…
performances this season v minnow teams = crap
tevez you muppet
now you are acting like a muppet
Welbeck was outstanding first half was let down by those around him! anderson is no better a player now than two years ago the lad has gone backwards! Shits on fabregas biggest load of bollocks I’ve ever heard in a united song!
Obertan was very bright, Gibson very average, kiko was decent but needs to learn when to pass always takes one more touch than he needs to!
Still think everyone criticising welbeck is/are Either a cunt or blind or most likely both!
balls……sunderland BOLTON blackburn cska besiktas = STRUGGLES
ALL AT FUCKIN HOME TOOOOOOOOOO
i can’t believe your all slagging the youngsters off already, im preety sure in the first 30 mins excluding the goal we looked sharp as ever, good passing, good movement, all in all we looked like we could have scored 3 or 4 because everyone wanted to score… the kids are raw playing at the highest level. bar the 2 centre backs, it was a team that could have easily started a game in the reserves, none of them have ever played together. the futures bright for us red devils. anyone remember macheda and welbecks goals last season??? i do! and they were unreal, stop remembering what happened in the last 45 mins and look at the bigger picture… theyre young, bright and our future.
up the reds
Foster getloster yer shite it should costye- rest of you take 5.
Oberton, Evra – high five.
poor game. Kids coulda done with a giggsy or scholes to show em wats wat. Anderson dissapointing tonight. Their fans weren’t as loud as o was expecting.
Anyone know where that new banner is? Couldn’t see it…
Dissapointing result. Although a few bright spots being Obertan and to a lesser degree Gibson. Quite why Rafael was playing on the left when could of played Fabio is beyond me…or maybe we did just to see if anyone would notice. Although we have qualified so were not as bad as the rat munchers and even earning top spot might give us a hard game with Barca and Real not guaranteed top spot in there groups. Should get Stevie GBH on bullseye with Jim Bowen showing him all the trophies and saying here’s what you could of won
That is a good performance, a very good experience for our youngsters. Couldnt help laughing reading people writing our youngsters off..
Chill off mates. Can’t you see it? It’s just a practice match! For SAF, for our youngsters, and for ourselves, if we cannot keep on supporting them for games like that, then we should ask ourselves what about United that we are supporting?
I am very happy to watch the game last night, although that “should’ve been a penalty” made me jumped. Because it is rare for me to be able to watch our youngsters, our reserves, because here we dont have MUTV..
babyfacedassasin – Completely agree pal. Anderson was fucking woeful tonight. Sauntering about about like billy big balls. Needs to pull his finger out again.
gotta hate – Heard your call about Obertan, Larry White and Referees. Nice one mate.
tevez you muppet – What the fuck? The kids need chances like this for fuck sake. They will have learned alot tonight.
Another thing. Why are people blaming Foster? He couldn’t do much about a deflection. Some United fans are fucking spoiled. Some of the comments on here are a piss take. How dare Kiko not get a hat trick.
This is a higher powers (ref or otherwise, evra penalty?) attamept at makin united supporters not too overjoyed that the dippers absolutely fucked up their season yesterday, hope they like playing Fridays and Saturdays bwhahahhaha. Don’t let it get you down our youngsters got invaluable experience and have given the first team lads a rest for the weekend.
When I think more about this match, i couldn’t help feeling more and more in awe of Sir Alex.
1) This is our reserve team. I dont think there is any other team in the world that can play their reserve in a CL match like we did, and performed like we did, except maybe Arsenal. But Arsenal, even their first team is not that good, thus the smaller gap between their reserve and their first team. Their first team will not win the CL, but their reserve will not get knocked out of CL at first stage.
2) like Williamkulha said, we managed to rest our first team.
3) Invaluable experince for our youngsters.
4) We have played all the players we listed for this CL, except only three: Ron-Robert Zieler, Corry Evans, and Sam Hewson. All other 28 players have played in our 5 CL matches this season.
5) the most amazing of all, is, Sir Alex didnt care one bit about our proud 4years+ unbeaten home record, to give our youngsters invaluable european match experience. This is a superb mentality, fully concentrating on one sole purpose: winning the CL. A 4 years unbeaten home record is nothing for Sir Alex. I am sure, other managers would try to protect that record so that they have something to brag about. Sir Alex is frightening.
there was no movement or any spirit in the lads in the second half.. They looked like tired sunday league players..
The passes were aweful tonight
But they will learn…
I thought Obertan was the best on the field, just needs to work on his end product (remind u of someone)
Well it was crap, but what u gonna do?
The youngsters are predictable and sometimes selfish. However, i will give them some chances and time to prove themselves. However, the most i give is 2-3years. People are saying the youngsters are young and will become better. But they had been in academy or reserves for a long time. Looking at obertan, he is much better than the rest of youngsters and he is only here a few months ago. He is 20years old and is consider young but i see him being above all the youngsters. Park for me plays well in the first half. He seems to change into another person after injury. He knows the movement and knows when to pass.
Btw, regarding foster. i know there is a bit of deflection but if he is good, he can react enough and at least finger tip it. Its a long way out and he definitely had time to react. At the start of the season, i been supporting him. But i can’t really support him anymore.
You all single out different players but Fergie threw them ALL on the field with experienced ones like long absenty Park, Ando etc. But you forget that the TEAM plays not Wellbeck or Macheda. Bad result but it’s a part of the learning process. And it’s good we have opportunity to do it on the highest stage.
There are some worrying signs this autumn but as long as we have a chance in all competitions there is a room for imrovement and some more time.
It doesn’t really matter now does it? As long as we win the CL in the end none of this will really matter now.
@ cantona7 & Corea
well said mates, this is a learning process in which the end result isn’t that much of a problem. U could see that sir alex’s nt as pissed as he usually was in epl games (except for the penalty claim)
IMO though,tonight has proven that:
1. G.Nville cannot cut it at the highest level anymore.
2. Our centre midfielders just aren’t that good compared to the likes of arsenal’s young guns. No skill, no precision and composure. (slate me if im wrong) & hence our strikers once again are nt getting enuff chances
3. Obertan’s a gem in the making? needs more balance and strength. Good touches tough. Quite poor in terms of his crosses.
4. Ji sung should start more games. IMO hes great.
5. Macheda and welbeck are impressive yesterday IMO. Its just that the opponents spent so much time behind the half way line that our players find it hard to score.
the thing I noticed yesterday was that how horrible and shit Anderson was. He can’t pass, can’t tackle, very poor at protecting the back four and in general not United quality. May be Fergie should have played Scholes last night. Another thing, why the hell Fergie played Rafael on the left? he could have done a good job at right back if Richie De Laet was played on the left. The positives were the movement and one touch passing of the front two and the wingers. Obertan is becoming a very good player.
http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/4013921/
Take a look at what other midfielder’s are bringing onto the pitch, saddening to see nt much of these can be seen in our games lately.
United just lost to the team that got beat 8-0 by the Rat Munchers.
25 home game unbeaten run came to an end. It’s a shame really.
I just thought to myself there is no point just having a go at the end of the game. Why not try as hard all the way through the game?
I have bashed him heavily recently but fucking Anderson just ponces around the pitch like he doesn’t give a fuck, he simply just passes 10/15 yard passes square, he for me is a waste of space and would be happy to see him moves on.
Obertan was exciting and the two lads up front looked decent, Gibo also for me has something the future looks sound, but without the silly haired Brazilain.
Whats it matter the kids can learn from there mistakes maybe Sir Alex can learn even more we just need a point for top in germany
no big loss , in the grand sceam of things our team can take alot of possitives for the future more from a loss than a win over a lesser team, One thing learned Gabby to start on saturday
all that game shows last night is that the young players need more top flight games as they can only learn so much from the carling cup. I taught Macheda was quite greedy in his shooting when he could of laid the ball off, but that is only something he will learn as he plays more big games.. Obertan has the makings of a very good player in him and he did well for his first start but his crossing wasnt up to much but again it was his first start and he is learning the United way, I loved his aggression and his pace. Foster whom was very unlucky with the goal is I’m afraid not United standard, I do like Foster as he gives his all but I’d like to see SAF go for Akinfeev or even the French keeper who played against Ireland (sorry cant remember his name)… and finally Gibbson, after all my saying on other posts that I’d be looking to play him more than Carrick did let me down yesterday but yet again I will say he can only learn so much from Carling Cup games and needs to play in some bigger games if he is to get to the standard he has the ability to get to.
GIBSON WAS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE! HE HAD A SHOCKER!
Im getting conflustered with comment on this today
maybe its because im hungover on a thursday i dunno but
to say kiko welbeck gibson Nani(?) anderson and foster arent good enough and wont learn unless they get to play in some big games but then if there not good enough for lesser games then how can we risk them for the big games but its the fact that they dont play big games that they will play bad in lesser games but then if there not good enough for lesser games then how can we risk them for the big games but its the fact that they dont play big games that they will play bad in lesser games but then if there not good enough for lesser games then how can we risk them for the big games but its the fact that they dont play big games that they will play bad in lesser games but then if there not good enough for lesser games then how can we risk them for the big games but its the fact that they dont play big games that they will play bad in lesser games
MY HEADS SORE
@Maci
Gibson had the best pass rate in the first have with an 81 % success rate
how is that “A SHOCKER” for a centre midfielder
@ Tiny Tears, Games like last night night, it was a big enough game (without it being to big) they need more games in the premier league against bottom half clubs and the odd run out against top half clubs.. they can only learn so much playing in the Carling Cup…. by the looks of Obertan he should be starting as much as he can.
Long John O’Shea
this is one of the mos open leagues in years
not that anyone can win it
just that anyone can beat anyone
ask Sunderland
so portsmouth are shite this season
Portsmouth will go down as far as I can see
but If United over look them they will drop points
Burnley took 3 points off the world champions already so Playing the kids is dodgy on the road to 19
ghtt
Hi mate.
Disagree about Gibson
i am not saying he does not have future but he was average to say the least yesterday. slammed a few in row z and did not get forward enough. Also gave the ball away too many times. The fact that he is below ando, carrick, fletch, scholesy shows that he is not doing well enough to merit a regular place speaks for itself but i wont write him off just yet.
We should not be too downhearted about yesterdays defeat. It was an experiment, and of course they can go wrong. This experiment would have served its purpose if Fergie and co. learned something from it. Young lads surely got some valuable experience and we know a little bit more about them as well.
Ive seen Gibson play a hell of a lot more games than just yesterday so Im not writing the guy off because he had to control the centre midfied on his own really cause Anderson was nowhere
he hit row z once sand sir alexs car in the carpark with another but they guy has all the tools and he really hasnt done much wrong.
I find it funny today the people Im reading saying Gibsons not good enough and matching them up in my memory to the same people who say to me Give Nani a chance
Nanis had more chance than anyone and has failed to make an impact with sir alex and his attitude seems to have finally made an impact but its toobad its a bad impact
I am no great anylist of the game but here is my opinion, Obertan was the best player on the pitch last night. Macheda was poor and welbeck.was awful,if they learnt to strike the ball as soon as the chance comes and not take too many touches they will score.as we saw at the weekend after valencia had been told to shoot on sight he scores. Gibson seemed to give the ball away all night. I thought owen, fletcher and scholes should have come on earlier for welbeck, gibson and anderson. Evra should got the pen
I thought Utd started well but the goal visibly shook them. A lot of the kids showed nice touches but are clearly not yet ready for regular 1st team football. This experience though is invaluable and I still think 2-3 of those on show last night will make it – Wellbeck, Obertan and Gibson. The jury’s still out for me on Kiko. His first touch isn’t great and he lacks vision as well. However they are young and were playing a Besiktas team who are flying in their domestic league. If you’re looking to dump blame on someone then maybe question the selection of so many youngsters – especially in the forward positions. Why not play Scholes and Owen from the start as neither will start at the weekend? Ah well, it’s not the end of the world. At least we don’t support that shite down the East Lancs.
A personal gripe from me though. If Utd insist on making me buy Champs League tkts then howsabout a reduced price if Utd are fielding a reserve side????
And if the whole team had put in the same effort for the whole game instead of just the last 10 minutes we would have smashed besiktas.
This young team should gain invaluable experience from this though. We’ve seemed slow going forward on the break all season and that is something we need to work on. Off topic it was embarrassing that about 1000 besiktas fans(admittedly more enthusiastic than most away fans) out sang 73,000 United fans nearly all night
agree with ghtt, to write off players like gibson after one game is crazy, he got a new contract in the summer so SAF is seeing something to work with,
welbeck was poor but all these lads are coming in for a one off game, mostly they all play reserve team football apart from 4 or 5, its a tough ask to play one game and be up to speed with it from the off, cl and reserve team is quite a difference.
Morning.
As I said I cannot believe the stick the kids are coming in for. It was a learning curve for fuck sake. They will be stronger for this and kick on. I am most surprised that apart from a couple of posters nobody has criticised Anderson. He was fucking woeful last night. Sauntering about like some big man. Pull your finger out you poseing cunt.
They really are idiots at the Daily Mail. Two of their headlines this morning are a joke. One says Fergie was having a go at the ref again, which he did comment on but rightly so. Hardly “raging”. The other is that Nev has taunted the Scousers by saying “they deserved to be booted out”. He didn’t say anything of the sort. He said that you get what you deserve in Football which is bang on.
The rentboys downfall will be the fact they constantly play the same players in every single game almost. No kids given the chance. Horrible bastards. Aside from Kakuta on Saturday but they had no option due to injuries. Sturridge was a top buy. Thats his career fucked.
The first 2 or 3 paragraphs of this article by the twat Kay puts last night into perspective.
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/european_football/article6932596.ece
Game after game watching Obertan playing I can’t understand WHY all the people here love him so much. It seems that all united fans here love is a pace and running. I mean with tevez it was all the same for two years. Nobody liked Berbatov and Ronaldo last year because the former was “slow” and “relaxed” (although with by far better skills and more use at the pitch) and Ronnie was damned by everyone for not defending properly. But everyone just LOVED tevez for his pace and constant running. Ronnie was 1000 times better and more useful but everyone loved tevez. Now overrated Obertan is running really fast but he can’t do nothing with the ball. He’d be a good a athlete but he’s a bad football player. He cant’ shoot, can’t pass, can’t cross, can’t head the ball. His technique is alright but he doesn’t do nothing with the ball afterwards.
The game just passed Gibson bye, he can shoot from long range but apart from that he doesnt do much else.
Obertan started well but then obviously got tired, he should have been replaced, anderson had a bag game, but lets be honest he had a very good game at the bridge.
rafa was playing on the wrong wing but did ok.
nani is finished apparently.
welbeck should be getting 20+ games a season
doncobaino
once again gibson had an 81% pass rate in uniteds first half
Bit disappointed with Macheda last night. He, Anderson, Rafael, Gibson and Welbeck didn’t really do themselves any favours.
Thought Obertan played really well.
Annoyed to have lost the record at home and the group stages – couldn’t believe it was eight years our last loss.
Such a pity Tosic isn’t included in Europe, because it would be good to see what he could do at the first team level, with a proper chance.
I think we might see a slightly different team for the return game at Wolfsburg, because they are a more than decent side and
King Eric
agree mate.Sir Alex was just saying that decisions are going against us wrongly these days which certainly is not a rant but just a fact. The kids defeinitely deserved a chance. Such nights will help them mature. We need to give them chances. Cant understand what more Tosic has to do to convince Fergie. He is doing well and should play next week against Spurs.
The Rentboys ars shit. Were battered in Porto last night. Am sure they wont win on Sunday and the gap will reduce.
ghtt
Mate. That 81% pass rate is not good enough if you are not making any penetrating passes or trying to drive the team forward. Gibbos passes were in the centre of midfield and not penetrating through balls. Got to agree though that Ando wasnt doing great either. He was poor.Wonder when he will score again.hope we dont have to wait for anotehr 70 games(cant say he will be around then).
a.i.g. mate
that 81% was in the first half
did you see manchester united yesterday in the first half
they were penetrating the life out of the game
excellent display that had alot to do with neville to gibson out to Gabby
aig – Hi mate. Yeah completely agree about Tosic. He has been excellent for the reserves and scored some bloody good goals. His dribbling and close control are outstanding. He is a lot stronger now. Maybe Fergie is waiting till exactly the right time to unleash him!
Were the rentboys that bad? They will hit a blip you can rest assured. You should have heard the cunts on talksport last night banging on about them. Their spirit and strength and how Ancelotti is the man. Sick bucket please. Just cannot see how in his first season he will win the league. Lets see how the pig faced cunt does from Jan on with the pressure up and Fergie playing his games!
go-alex – Did you even watch the game? How can you say he is all running and pace. His control, movement, and running with the ball are excellent.
PS Tevez had no pace really anyway.
anyone think obertan looks best linkin up with evra down the left? 2 of them look like they have an understanding already and was disappointed gabby didnt switch sides when evra arrived, it was still a poor performance from us, i think we were too arragont and paid the price, showed our squad up last nite and they will either have to prove everyone wrong with better performances or fergie will need to look for a few new players to add to the mix, unlucky to lose last nite but still didnt do enough to win apart from the last few mins when rustu made 2 or 3 blindin saves
Agreed, Ando was poor but it looked as though fergie gave him more of a holding role last night while asking the youngsters to express themselves. TBH, that is why I was so disapointed in Gibson in particular, he had the chance to show that he was capable of playing at this level but he blew it!!
Countless times he had the option to take us forward and spread the play but choose to go short sideways and backwards…if he is not confident of distributing the ball around the field as a midfielder, than he is not doing his job effectively.
Some people are saying that Welbeck played decent?? We must remember he is a striker, but he did not play like one….every time he received the ball he went backwards, took 5 touches while moving the ball a couple of yards which allowed besiktas to get even more players behind the ball. I dont remember one time in the match where Welbeck actually tried to attack a ball that came in from the wings and that is worrying for a striker as he seems to want the ball to feet all the time! Maybe we should convert him into midfielder if that is what he prefers to do???
If that had a been a decent team we where playing last nite i wudn’t ave been worried as much, but they are poor team we shud ave seen them of comfortably. Some of our kids are not ready yet for the first team, maybe some of them need to go out on loan, and get some game time. ps i wudn’t blame foster for the goal it did take a deflection
King Eric…”His control, movement, and running with the ball are excellent”. The same thing I can say about Nani. The only difference is Nani can score from a long distance. And Obertan’s advantage is his cost (£3m).
I’m not defending Nani here but Nani’s got 30+ appearances for Portugal team and Obertan last year didn’t get a match practice at Bordeaux and was sent on loan to Lorient where he barely won a place in the starting XI. And now he’s a single biggest hope for United. WTF? Give a ball to Usain Bolt maybe he’s also got some “control”.
PS tevez was a pacy motherfucker
go.alex – Even more reason then that Nani should be doing better. For a “Usain Bolt” to come in after a lay off from injury having hardly played any football the last season or so and to play like he has says it all really.
Ghtt.
You mention Gibsons first half pass rate…..from what i saw his passes were all behinf d the player or backwards. I have to agree with those that state he had a bit of a mare. He has gotta be behind many others in the pecking order and I will not be surprised if he gets moved on in the Jan sales.
I think SAF underestimated the Turks and for us to lose our unbeaten Euro record to them was an absolute disgrace.
GO Alex. Nani is surplus to requirements, especially after dissing his so called bad treatment in the Portuguese press….his days are numbered thank god we should never have bought him in the first place. a player with an over inflated ego who thinks he is better than he actually is….!!
once Obertan puts on a bit of conditioning and muscle he will be a starter every game. his skills on the ball far exceed Nani.
Tonybee – Alright mate. Don’t think Gibson will be sold. Fergie rates him and he has only recently signed a 3 year extension. Personally I like Gibson. Still learning but he has a lot of the tools needed for a central midfielder. Great engine, strong lad, good passer, gets stuck in and has a wicked shot. Unfortunately not last night though.
if anyone is commenting on this blog you got to check that idiot site redrants, and the clown that is GROGNARD who is such a joke if he comes on here Ihope that idiot reads he is such a joke calling himself a united fan he should stick to ice hockey canadian idiot. here what he said

I really feel for the supporters who pay their hard earned money to watch a manager fiddle around so much with a lineup that the clubs five worst players are all on at the same time. I was talking about feeling shame the other day. Right now I feel shame and embarrassment for calling myself a Man Utd supporter.
The total ineptitude of our players is frightening. There is nobody on this team with real skill and end product. Finishing and final balls are a pipedream for this team. Fergie is going to say how the Turks were hard to break down. RUBBISH. From what I could see his players were dumb as nails and 1,2’s and one touch plays would have done the job. Macheda and Welbeck are hopeless. Especially Macheda. He hasn’t got a clue about doing the smart thing or having the instinct in front of goal. Nobody on this club can cross a ball if their lives depended on it. Obertan probably gave you and others woody tonight with all his flash but his end product proved to me yet again that all he really is is flash and no substance. We are a lazy club that moves around in 3rd gear and shows no urgency or imagination until they are near injury time. We got what we deserved and Fergie should get what he deserves as well. He should get the sack. I’m tired of the old fart and our boring football and our incredibly dull performances in the CL.
We bitch about Rooney yet all our forwards were mimicking him tonight because the whole collective scared to death of the 18 yard box. That’s not the players, that’s Fergie and bad managing. I’m sick of it. This team needs a new culture about it. It needs a rejuvenation and injection of new blood both in players but especially in approach. Thanks for everything Fergie but right now, you are well past it in my mind and you need to retire and let a man with a fresh approach and truly innovative ideas come in and take over. You are too predictable and you have no tactical sense anymore. Same old shite every week, same old dull, players with limited skills and no end product and same old excuses and mind games. Instead lets support the Glazers’s and keep telling the world that we don’t need any more players.
Keano was worried that all that crap was from you!!
I hate to tar all North American fans with the same brush but Gognard is fairly typical of plastic fans who only really love all the razmataz of being Champions and haven’t a clue what it takes to build a dynasty of the sort Fergie has.
Games like last night are a rare chance when United can actually afford not to win and gives kids experince of CL football. He’s thretening to do it again in Wolfsburgh and even if we lose there he’ll not give two shits about fools like Gognard!!
Lets agree… if comes on this site we’ll treat him like a dipper!!
Dave Mack and Keano – What a fucking disgrace to the club. Saying Fergie should go and we should get a new culture. Who the fuck does he think changed the 70 and 80′s culture to what it is today and the reason we have had so much success. What a twat. Don’t even know why I am getting annoyed actually. Unfortunately he won’t be the only “fan” who thinks like that.
keano – Try and entice the prick on here mate.
theres only one keano – Just been on red rants. Is that for real or is it a dippers site? What a set of ungrateful, clueless, spoilt, glory seeking, plastic cunts. Saying get rid of Fergie, Scholes, Giggsy etc. Who the fuck are they? Craig fucking Mc and redrich. Pricks. Should be ashamed of themselves.
Dave Mack King Eric
I had to get that off my chest and inform you felow reds on a site thats bashing our great club it had to be said, even unitedrants I was angry at for what he said and I was calling him out is well, I won a 2 grand bet in 2006 that united would win the title in 2007 if united sorted the midfield. oh no believe me it was not from me if I even once even think fergie should go I should not deserve to even support our great club I would call myself a plastic I have full faith in fergie especially with todays selfish modern day player we need fergie more than ever, I had to time and time again say to other united fans fergie should never ever leave only on his terms.
I am not from manchester I am welsh I cant afford to get to many games I should be having giggsy has my username has propably the greatest player behind sir bobby, well the 5th beatle best, king eric, keano, the great dane, the ginger genius, robbo, etc etc come close. I cant get on the site for some reason the site does not allow me on there. I have never experienced the bad times like say the 70s and 80s so what do I know what dark times are maybe the glazers taken over, for the first time I am not nervous because all that united have won it is a pressure free season, but I have not had great expectations of the season. my grammer is awful since my writting is bad at times LOL sorry ppl.
