Good God, its not sounding too good so far, its worse when you can’t see the match should of gone to the Pub! I can’t get any of the links to work so im relying on a live score website, waiting for the BLEEP to signal when a goals been scored. When that BLEEP arrives, and it always does, I hope its Manchester United highlighted in Red and not West Ham. SOOO how are Rooney and Berbatov playing together? Who replaced Anderson? Anybody feeling charitable with some information???

    Barcelona are 0-1 down btw…

  14. redscot says:

@ Paul parker, the Chinese man with One chopstick. Rooonneyyyyy. I up believe

Wayne, but of Course. just newly scraped the top of cross bar for a second

  20. McQueen says:

Fucking incredible cross by Valencia for the goal! He is having a brilliant game. And Rooney… what can I say about Rooney, LEGEND

  22. redscot says:

Well Said Gordon, you Scots Tattie. lol. 1 .0, end off half, glory glory MAN UNITED . ON ON ON

  23. Costas says:

Great movement for the goal. I see that it tool 28 minutes for the Berba critisisms to begin…

I am afraid that Ando has done serious damage to his knee. I hope I am wrong.

  24. willierednut says:

Great ball from valencia for the goal.

  25. Costas says:

I can’t understand why the strikers got switched around. I admit that I was the one who wanted Berba to play as the main striker, but the last 2 months have proved me wrong. And notice that we scored once Rooney went back to centre forward.

  26. Costas says:

    @willierednut

Truly was. That cross would put Becks to shame. :D

  27. PAUL Parker says:

thats my boy 9/2 for a brace LOL

really good to “see” Valencia is playing well, I get really pissed off when people have a media mindstate and want to question if Valencia or Nani should start, they should BOTH start, we are a rotation club. Its not a selection heaadache its a blessing, we should be proud of having 2 young and emerging quality options on our Right wing. Hopefully Obertan gets a run out tonight on the Left as well. C’mon UNITED !!!!!

  28. willierednut says:

Could be a bad one costas, barca 1 1.

  29. redscot says:

@ Costas I agree with you m8, that’s just pure shit for the youngster regards Ando. Just pass the Dimatar bull shite, I do.But let’s not destruct the team tonite, It feel’s a good nite…… Right

  30. Costas says:

    @redscot

Yep, it’s going well so far. United winning, Olympiacos losing. :P

I will feel better once we get a second. In regeards to Ando, I hope it wasn’t a ligament tear. Just a strain. It won’t keep him out for too long.

  31. Corea says:

    Feel sorry for Ando :(
Berba’s pass to Valencia was right on Valencia foot and what a goal!

  32. mikekelly12 says:

Does anyone think the FA will fine us for fielding a weakened team!!! Fuckin jokers!!

  33. redscot says:

@ paul parker, You keep putting up some such positive post’s am falling in love with you! lmao.
Seriously am still not convinced we really need a second, then the Ammers will fold like a pack of Cards.

  34. Xyth says:

Come on lads. We can play better than this. Let’s put the match to bed.

  35. PAUL Parker says:

JESUS I’VE HEARD THE BLEEP !!!!!!
    I don’t wanna look !!!!!!
Is it an equalizer or a second for ROOOOOOONEY ?????

Put me out of my misery !!!!!

Where are you Ronney loonie knockers? lol

  41. PAUL Parker says:

LOL @ Scot Red, steady on old boy!

  42. LunG420 says:

What are the chances of city doing us at favor at the bridge on the weekend?

  43. rooney the new king says:

well what more needs to be said about wayne rooney he has it all, and when some moran moaned about rooneys first touch and hold up of the ball yet again he should really hold his head up in shame where united be without rooney he is a monster the roonster is.

  44. PAUL Parker says:

    (20 minutes later)

    ROOOOOOOOOONEY !!!!!!

See? you need determination and drive to make it in the Premier League, I remember before the season started Rooney said he was working really hard on headers / 6 yard box finishing – now look at him – He’s a BEAST. Not sure what your fella on RoM said, or if he said anything, but 9/2 for Rooney to get 2 or more after his Everton performance was great value.

Hark !!!, I hear a million Gunner hearts breaking !!!

C’mon Chelsea, drop some more points for fuck sake !!!

What are the chances of city doing us at favor at the bridge on the weekend?

    ________

Very high, Tevez is back, Ade is fit and Chelsea cannot cope against teams that come out and attack them with a decent front line. Hate em or Love em City have a formidable front line. In comparison, look what Saha did to Terry on his own with good delivery? So Ade AND Tevez???? The only problem is that Italian fella will play for a Draw, altho im hoping his first match against his old nemesis at Chelsea brings out a fighting spirit. Plus there is the Bridge factor LOL Eitherway, Chelsea need to win, so they won’t allow City to play for a Draw, and the more Chelsea come forward the more they have to worry about Ade and Tevez. It wasn’t just mind games when Alec said Ade is Citys best player – he is. I can see City winning or at least nicking points.
I think we can take top next weekend if we dont fuck up.

  46. redscot says:

Il break from normal on match post’s comments and pure drivvle, lol. Paul we need as much as I hate to type this a Shitty draw with the Chelscum, think of it like the long game. Then the Title is back in our hands and Shitty, MIGHT, get 5th, lol.
Anyhow, did you hear the applause for Wayne as he left the Field? and our new fledgling Mamme in progress( in work) owen just scored m8

  47. redscot says:

    @ post 22.19, believe, I am Scottish

  48. willierednut says:

3 0 saint mikey owen all over.

  49. King Eric says:

A couple of Myths put to bed tonight.

    Berba IS class

    Valencia IS quality

Owen IS still a top finisher

Had to watch a fucking shite stream. Cannot wait to see it. Sounds like United have been excellent? Fucking missed Rooneys and Owens goals live.

  50. King Eric says:

Paul Parker – hello mate. Adebayour is a decent player when he is in the mood which isn’t too often.

  51. redscot says:

away to the pub. done deal. get it up you Villa, the Biggest and besHTeshtest Club in the world is coming to get ya. Be very AFRAID.

  52. King Eric says:

Got to give it to Owen to be fair. I was very dubious about the signing but never doubted his finishing quality. As I and Anon said the other night give him games and he will score goals. He has got his head down, fit right in at United and never bitched or moaned. Judas take note of the likes of him and Ole.

  53. REDHarry4Life says:

Anybody notice a huge difference tonight?

VIDIC was back and we looked so much more solid. I for one would be absolutley gutted if Vidic leaves in the summer. Worth paying him what he wants. Makes Rio look good.

Rooney seems to have gone up a Level since christmas.

Is there a better player in the world at the minute? I don’t think so Messi has dropped a level from last year, CR7 is back up again but Rooney is playing so much better.

Though Valencia had a stunning game tonight.

Villa ain’t gonna get anything on Sunday!

    COME ON YE REDS

  54. Gandalf says:

Job done today, some lovely play by Berba, Valencia and Rooney. Scholes was immense. Ben Foster performance was encouraging, although they didn’t trouble him greatly. Lets go on and win the cup now.

  55. Costas says:

    @King Eric

And even I have said that Owen needs more games. :D

In the late 90s we had the follwong trend: Scholes to Beckham, Beckham cross for Yorke to head in. Tonight we had the Berba-Valencia-Rooney trend.

Valencia was fantastic today. Man of the match for me.

We have to hear news about Ando soon!

  56. Gandalf says:

Oh and Vidic was back and did very well too. Very pleased with that.

  57. Anon says:

    King Eric
yep mate, great to see Owen on the scoreboard.

  58. Costas says:

Vidic made a big difference tonight. The team was more confident.

Hey, when did Scholesy become such a crappy finisher? :P

  59. rooney the new king says:

King Eric – well it was a perfect game for berbatov tonight because it was at home and he had a great great player in rooney who grabs the game by the scruff of the neck berbatov did not need to do much, but when it comes to the crunch when the chips are down, and you need warriors on the field soldiers out on the battle field he goes missing. I am glad united won but when things go against united the sad reality is united are like chelsea they collapse. There is no denying the fact united have lost that extra bit of something which has made them champions and that is grabbing results when the chips are down

  60. Park likes dags says:

    1 chance 1 goal
That’s Micky-o all over. Can’t believe how people under-rate him as an England candidate. That finish was so hard but he made it look a piece of piss! (King Eric, that goal was nearly all I got from my stream!! but well worth it! exactly like the shitty goal.. caught a replay of the Rooney headers (1 diving), positional excellence & he bossed the game in the 2nd half. well worth a watch!!!)
    off topic
I think Everton was our ‘transition period’ to 4-4-2. Good to see SAF go 442 again straight away. We should start raping some defensive teams now with Vida looking fucking dynamite! :O)

  61. aig alex is god says:

Good result and good performance. The goals were excellent one touch pasiing that had an end product. We had 5-6 such moves during the game.we also were able to rest key players ahead of the Wembley game.Berbatov was good today, showed his lack of pace when he was sent clear a couple of times but his passing and vision was excellent and those 2 balls for Valencia for the first 2 goals were absolute gems.Valencia deserves special praise too. 2 excellent crosses and showed great strength under pressure

Say what you want to about him but Vidic showed again tonight why he is so important for us and what we have been missing.Carlton Cole is a very tricky customer but Vida always looked comfortable.Makes a massive difference to this defence.

The title isnt in our control now but we have to win games like tonight. Spurs,City,Chelsea and Liverpool are the 4 difficult games we have. The rest we have to win if we want to win the league.

  62. Costas says:

    @Park likes dags

Giid point mate. With our core 5 of VDS, Rio, Vida, Carrick and Fletcher in the team, we can afford to play 4-4-2. Especially now that Valencia and Nani are on fire and Berba and Rooney are starting to work better together.

  63. rooney the new king says:

Costas – I would not get carried away with berbatov and valencia and the game in general tonight. It was the perfect game for them but its when we are in battle and the chips are down we seem to crumble.

aig alex is god – yea I am glad vidic is back but my money is vidic will be sold in the summer.

  64. willierednut says:

    Berbatov is magic.

  65. aig alex is god says:

    @rtnk

Going by his showing today i we should give him a pay rise and try everything possible within realistic limits to keep him.The difference he makes to the defence was clear today.

  66. King Eric says:

aig – hello mate. how are you? spot on about Vidic.

  67. PAUL Parker says:

Lovely! 3-0 !!! About to watch the Game on Sky now.
Great Result. Really gutted about Anderson, but I think this will ease his transition back into the squad (if that makes sense) I doubt Alec will over emphasis the point he’s been making to young Ando… He really is class!

@ King Eric, your right mate, and I agree, Ade is useless in “small” games, meaning the games teams actually need to WIN to be the best. Thats why im talking him up now, because on Saturday he’ll be out to prove a point against Chelsea so he’ll play at his “best”, some players rely on EGO more then others. But that sums City up all over – look at their record, they’ve beaten Us, Chelsea and Arsenal at their ground but at lower opposition they don’t turn up. Fucking useless, except against bigger teams of course. But I fancied City to nick points before the whole Bridge-gate started. City can turn it on, no doubt, but they lack the winning mentality to do it week in week out come what may. Like Alec said you can buy who you want but you can’t BUY the kind of spirit we have. City will turn it on this Saturday to kid themselves they are a “big team” so I can’t see Chelsea winning it. heres hoping anyway!!!

  68. Corea says:

Vidic will stay. Berba is class. Good performance and a very attractive game.

aig, costas, king and to all – goodnight.

Vida he will fucking murder ya!

  69. Fze123 says:

The defence was very sloppy in the first half, but improved as the game went on. Vidic and Brown played well together I thought. Evra was not his usual best in the first half either, but was better in the second. Scholes was MOTM for me. He kickstarted most of our attacks and was unlucky not to score his 100th. Valencia and Park were superb too; Valencia has 2 assists to his name, putting in brilliant crosses and Park won back the ball for us repeatedly. Rooney loves scoring headers nowadays; he was unplayable in the second half. It’s good to see that he is back to his best after the Everton game. Berbatov had a good performance but he should have done better with his chances. Owen’s goal was just a typical classy Owen goal; this goal is a perfect example of his best asset, his priceless clinical finishing. I reckon he can score against any team if he gets more starts. Had he and Diouf started today they would have been more than capable of getting us the 3 points.

Good performance overall and we are now 1 point behind the rentboys. We now have our first choice defence back and Carrick and Fletch fresh for the CC final.Things are looking good; bring on Villa!

  70. Costas says:

    @RTNK

These games are not ideal for conclusions, but they are helpful for these players because they can build their confidence. And at the end of the day, Berbatov and Valencia weren’t too much worse on Saturday. The team as a whole was better today and our opposition was weaker.

  71. rooney the new king says:

aig alex is god – it is like ronaldo if he wants to leave then there is no point keeping him, add the fact vidic’s contract run’s out in 2012 so I think the club want to cash in on the player I think it is right to let him go this summer.

  72. aig alex is god says:

    @King Eric

Hi mate. i am good. what about you?

Sorry for the other day mate.Just took it too seriously.Hope you didnt mind it.

  73. Costas says:

    @Corea

All I can say for tonight, is that Vida is finally back! I hope he will play every game until the end of the season. Where the hell is Rio now?

    Night mate.

  74. aig alex is god says:

    Good night Corea.

  75. Fze123 says:

I wish Scholes is 5 years younger. He was magnificent today.

  76. King Eric says:

rtnk – When the chips are down? What like being one nil down and under the cosh in the San Siro? Or last second winners against Citeh? Or playing a very poor injury ravaged team with Fletch and Carrick at centre half away at Wolfsburg and topping the group? United will get there and are doing. It was always gonna take time to adapt following the changes last summer and only Fergie could see teams through transitions this quickly with minimal effect to the team.

  77. rooney the new king says:

Costas – like I ay look at all the games united have won they are nice pretty or struggling sides, the high profile victorys milan and arsenal. look at milan I thought if seedorf and flamini started I doubt we would have won, and arsenal are just all over the place at the back. west ham are a nie prretty side. United struggle especially away from home against very compact sides who squeze the play and are strong at the back, and are good on the counter.

  78. King Eric says:

aig – No not at all mate. I think we were all a bit tetchy after the defeat on Saturday. I came across a bit abrupt as well.

  79. King Eric says:

    Corea – goodnight mate

  80. REDHarry4Life says:

We have to move heaven n hell to keep Vidic. He is immense. adds so much to our defense. Vidic makes other teams fear playing against us. Everton on Saturday loved playing against Evans and Brown (who has been very weak, fimble and poor lately).

The media was on about how much we had lost when we sold CR7 and how we weren’t the same team as last year. They didnt seem to mention that we have been without VDS(1 of the top 3 keepers in the world). Rioo and Vidic the best centre backs in world football bar fucking none.

Get them back from now to the end olf the season and we will be ok.

Astonishing 1st goal tonight. Brerba great vision to Valencia, what a fucking ball to Rooney and a lovely little header

  81. Costas says:

    @RTNK

Well, United will always struggle in these games. The 06-07 team was very lucky to win at Fulham. The 07-08 team was lucky not to lose at Blackburn and Middlesbrough. But this season, we have had many problems in these types of games. At Fulham the whole defence was missing, at Villa Nani got sent off and at Chelsea we had some major decisions go against us.

We have lost some games hands down(Burnley, Liverpool and Everton). Not denying that. But United as a side throughout the years, hasn’t been renowed for being a battling team. Chelsea have been built like one since the Mourinho days. We haven’t.

  82. Anon says:

Why exactly are people hell bent on seeing Vida off?
He proved again how much of a difference he makes to our back line. He even helped FOSTER get a clean sheet! How often does that happen?!
To compare him to Ron is stupid. Ronaldo has a “dream” and it was not about anything else. If Real were a mid table team he would still have wanted to go there (not that they were any better than a mid table team last season).
Vida doesn’t have any such dream. And he doesn’t want to leave! Who the heck keeps spreading these rumours?

  83. rooney the new king says:

King Eric – the only way united will get over the big players left is signing another world class striker, because rooney is our only world class striker in terms of the instant impact he brings to the team and the matches. United dont have enough depth in attack and the goals of our strikers shows that rooney dwarfs the other 2.

Milan in my eyes got their tactics totaly wrong, if leonardo is going to play 3 in attack and not let those attacking 3 track back, make sure you have the legs in midfield they did not, we add the fact pato was not match fit so milan brought with them their own problems.

look at all the teams that have beaten united, very compact orginised and physically strong sides, when ever united have gone behind against these sort of sides united dont have an answer to come back. It does not help when fergie plays a 451 system when uniteds sources of goals comes from 1 player, it is even more hard for united to bring veriaty to the table when rooney is not not scoring, add our wide players do not exactly score alot.

  84. Anon says:

Just going through the first goal again, and wow Park’s pass to Berba was clinical! We need to play him through the middle more often. He looks so solid down the centre!

  85. rooney the new king says:

Costas – not exactly against blackburn, united were unlucky not to win the blackburn game what happened that day was the brad friedel show and robbed of 2 penaltys. the boro game fergie got the backline wrong, o shea should have started RB and brown to CB. I did not say come back and win the game all the time but come back and nick a draw, that is what the championship winning sides do. united have always been a battling side getting last minute draws or even winners. despite being outplayed they had that extra and even the luck to avoid defeat, it is down to a depleted defence but even tiredness they have just enough.

  86. keanesmagichat says:

what did ye make of gibson tonight lads? I thought he was impressive, decision making was good

  87. PAUL Parker says:

Just going through the first goal again, and wow Park’s pass to Berba was clinical!

    ________________________

I was just about to mention that first goal now I’ve just seen it, brilliant movement from all 4 players, typical United move. Valencia’s last touch was the icing on the cake, it was perfect.

  88. Anon says:

    RTNK
So how many games have United lost this season, since the liverpool game, with Vida, Rio or VDS playing?
The defence has been United’s only problem this season. In attack we have been far superior compared to last season, and that has mostly been down to Valencia and Rooney linking up phenomenally and Fletcher, Carrick, Scholes and occasionaly Ando putting in great shifts in a 3 man midfield.
We are not missing Ronnie whatsoever, at least not in footballing terms.
Selling Vida would definitely set us back! Right now, it is a surprise we are where we are, not because we have sucked, but because we have had our second string defense for 80% of the season, and no defense whatsoever for another 10% of it.
Even Barcelona would have been lying somewhere in 5th or 6th place if Puyol, Valdes and Pique were out for the entire season.

  89. MG says:

The force is strong in number 10

No not Downing Street you plonker

At the back of Manchester United’s number 10 : )

    Next:

  90. Xyth says:

It is a shame that we did not take the opportunity to improve our GD even further. We should have had at least three more.

Had Vidic played against Everton, we would have been top of the table tonight.

  91. PAUL Parker says:

Park’s shot against the post was unlucky not to go in. He’s been a great player for us for years now, the only thing he was missing was good finishing. He’s alot better this season, taking on more shots, getting more involved in the final third, and even tho he went down easliy it should have been a penalty. Second goal was typical quality, same 3 culprits lol. Berbatov is a better player (for us) playing deep, he links up play really well.

  92. Anon says:

    Xyth
Agree about the Vidic at everton part.

  93. rooney the new king says:

Anon – rooney has been the reason why united have scored more goals, last season united were so unbalaned in attack it is no suprise they scored very phew. there are some bad teams this season, wigan and pompey last season were far better than this season they have lost so many players, especially pompey you got to put these factors into consideration. Look at arsenal they are worser this season than last, yes there are some better teams. Barcelona lost their entire defence against united in may but they still outplayed united. The defence has been missed in some games but I think our lack of depth in attack is the huge factor, united are 1 injury away from a real problem.

  94. Costas says:

    @RTNK

At Blackburn we were unlucky not to equalise sooner, but there were times when we weren’t in that game at all. It was a late rally. At Boro, Fergie did get the defence wrong. O’Shea had a blinder at Roma, but couldn’t handle Alfonso Alves. In those games, we had the likes of Ronaldo and Tevez with us, but the problems were there. The opposition was fighting for every ball and we had a hard time coping with that.

This season, our two comebacks were against Villa and Birmingham were we equalised, but had to settle for a draw after the red cards. But overall, this team is more about scoring first, than it is about turning games on their head.

  95. rooney the new king says:

Costas – yes they were not in the game but they had those big players that could get united out of horribke tight spots. That is my worry and with shitty coming up if they score first I worry we will really struggle to win the game, because united have dropped enough pts. they need to win nearly all the games if chelsea even start winning games and with arsenal got an easy run in it could be a real problem. But with the sides lack of depth in attack the first goal will be vital.

  96. PAUL Parker says:

All the usual suspects played well. Evra, Scholes, Rooney etc. Great to see Vidic back we really have missed him. Berbatov playing deep definitely suited us today. Valencia was as consistent as he normally is. Gibson has improved since his last outing. Gary had a really good game too. Foster made some good saves – Yes he had his trademark moment of randomness, but he deserved his clean sheet. Diouf looked really sharp on the ball, and what can I say about Owen? He should make it to the W/C because hate him or love him, given half the chance he will put the ball in the back of the net. He has excellent positional awareness. He knows where he needs to be, thats why he ALWAYS has at least one chance on goal when we bring in on at the end of a match. He is still a quality player, injury prone yes, but past it? fuck no. He showed up what he could do against Wolfsburg, that was no fluke! lol. Give own more then 10 minutes on the pitch and 9/10 he’ll score. Great performance, bring on VILLA !!!!

  97. Scott the Red says:

Fred – We got Owen on a free and he’s scored 3 league goals for us. We would have paid £25m+ for Tevez after he scored 5 league goals for us, and he played FAR more than Owen has this season.

Yes, he’s scored more for City, because they’ve played him in pretty much every minute possible and he’s their main goalscorer. But there’s no way he would have scored that many goals for us this season. If you’re a striker, you’re half decent, you’re a team’s main striker, you will score a few – Bobby Zamora has scored more goals for Fulham already than Tevez did all season for us. Should we go for him too? So has Burnley’s Steven Fletcher. And Kevin Doyle. And Klasnic. And Keane (and he bloody left half way through the season!).

Of course Tevez is a good player but the question is was he worth the money? £5m per league goal last season suggests that he wasn’t!

  98. rooney the new king says:

Scott the Red – I have a real problem with the term you keep using tevez scored 5 goals and we should not pay 25 million. berbatov was not much better last season he only got 9 so you are contridicting yourself.

look at fernando torres he has played far less than berbatov and still he has scored more goals, even micheal owen is one short of berbatovs 9, so if you are going to critisice other players lack of goals look at players you rate like berbatov, for someone who cost 30 plus million he has been way below the standards of united class.

Oh god! Not the one man team brigade again!
Listen. I am sick and tired of repeating this. So this is the last time I am going to say this.
Rooney may have got 27 goals for this season, but that, by no means, whatsoever, makes him indispensable, and by no means does it make him the sole reason for our league standing.
    That is just bonkers.
People who think like that are the same people who put our last three league titles and the CL down to CR7 alone.
    It’s stupid thinking.
    Football doesn’t work that way.
Rooney has been putting his chances away, but that is his job, especially since he has got what he asked for, the centre forward role.
Guys like Fletcher, Evra and Valencia have had as much to do with our success this season as Rooney.
And those three are just the cream of the crop. I must mention Giggs (still the second highest assist man in the league this season), Scholes, Rafael and Ando and Carrick to a lesser extent, who have all had undeniable impact this season.
These are the guys whom you call the “unsung” heroes.
Can we please shut up with the “Rooney is the only reason…” drivel?
He’s been phenomenal this season, and if someone were to say we would be a lot less belligerent without him would be right. But like we showed last season, even without a cerebral forward like him, we can still games, if only by 1-0 scorelines, and not this seasons 3-0 ones.

    You gotta be kidding me!!!!
Berba gives far more to a team than Tevez.
Berba has been bench warming this season, heard him moan about it once?
Tevez played a truck load of games last season, and he was still bitching about it.
Fergie and Gill even coughed up the dough to keep him at the club. What did he do? Went for the bigger pay check at Wastelands.
Are you SERIOUSLY comparing that player to one who snubbed those bitter bluenoses to play for a team he considers above all others?
    Get out of here! Seriously!

Berba-bashing?? …a Scott quote comes to mind..
First of all Berbatov’s contribution cannot be considered without his assist and ‘turnover?’ stats. They cream over all the attackers named above including your beloved Torres & Tevez ;)
and your point to Scott is? Berba was £31/9 & Tevez was 25-47?/5 per goal, I know which one I’d pick. And the player SAF picked is often the real deal.

Anon is frankly, spot on in his summation.

and you try n crap on Valencia’s brigade? He will definately prove you wrong mate!

@ Costas, we do make more of an effort to score first nowadays but it’s our thirst/need for that second that could be our downfall.. Chelski seems to sit on it till the opposition gets desperate for a draw then Ddrogba plays catchup with Rooney.

Even Barcelona would have been lying somewhere in 5th or 6th place if Puyol, Valdes and Pique were out for the entire season

    Red Harry
When they are playing together yes, but when pulled apart, on the basis of this season at least (though he hasn’t played much) I wonder where Rio would stack up in the world order of centre backs. Vida has been class whenever he’s played, barring Liverpool (who I think are becoming his voodoo club).
When they are all fit, I think Fergie is going to have a tough time picking between Rio and Evans to partner Vida, who walks into the team at this moment.

  105. rooney the new king says:

Park likes dags Anon – did I compare tevez and berbatov no and I am not get into that debat again do not draw me in again. But I will say one last time I am not saying it again I rate tevez far highly because of his age mobility and ability to fit into a 433 system, and tevez has the ability to come off the brnch change tempo of the game and lift the team, and he scores in the big games we benifited hugely from this the past 2 seasons.

I only brought tevez up because scott went on about tevez performences last season, but scott is contridicting himself with the price tag. When you look at berbatovs price which we payed more than shitty payed for judas yea we know wages are different but shitty over pay for their tea lady’s, and the goals return of berbatov add his lack of appearences in europe and the big games in general and performences have been poor.

  106. rooney the new king says:

Anon – do not missquote me, I did not call united a one man team and PPL I am not caling united a one man team you got to understand why without rooney we may not win the league, your lack of overall picture of the team shows why you dont see the structure of the team and who has been poor and outstanding.

during ronaldo’s time you could not say he was the soul reason because of many key factors and the structure of the team in general.

these reasons of our success the past phew seasons

    - United’s GK and defence was always fit week in week out and they played at such high standard.

    - The midfield gem’s of giggs in all 3 seasons and especially scholes in the 06/07 season, scholes himself put in a masterclass season that was in my eyes a genius at work, and I have not seen many have such a great season from a CM position. We add players like carrick fletcher who both have been key factors even the likes of nani in his debut season had a good season.

    - In attack the form of saha in 2006 was sensational, you add the duo of ronaldo and rooney in 3 seasons scored between them 119 goals, we add tevez and the 3 players scored in total 140 goals in the 2 seasons ronaldo rooney and tevez were together, you add 72 goals between rooney and tevez.

So no united did not rely on ronaldo because the entire structure of the team from GK defence midfield and attack was all fit functioning and firing.

The problem with the current structure of united today is.

    - The GK and defence you could not say they have been brilliant because they have bene injured

    - The midfield have they really stood out and say hey they really have been one of the reasons why united are in the title race no, add chopping and changing and the lack of a true world class midfielder even though fletcher has been outstanding again, and valencia to a lesser digree has done well

    - Now the attack, owen has done really well scoring 8 goals, when you see where he was at newcastle which was mentally hard for owen. Berbatov is no different from last year very poor scoring just 9 goals but rooney has been a beats scoring 27.

And it is not only goals from rooney, he changes the tempo of the game he helps pin defenders back and they have to be aware of rooney all the time. Everything goes through rooney he scores creates and drives at defences and he pulles defences out of position, that is why united would not be where they are without rooney and you have got to be wearing the red tinted specs 3 imes over not to know this.

if PPL want to disagree and bash me and say I am this and that I dont mind, but these are the reasons why I am worryed that we may come up short because of our lack of strength in depth in attack, but if united can start keeping cleansheets again with a fit defence then we may get away with a thread bear strike force.

Defense: Yes we have been fucked over, and that has not helped our season so far, but it is a credit to the entire attack force, plus guys who have put in shifts out of position like Fletch and Carrick that we are just a point of the top. Rooney of course deserves praise, but not all of it.

Midfield: your argument holds NO water whatsoever. constant shifting and changing you say? I recall the complete opposite. The past few months, right untill the Milan game, we played with the midfield of scholes, carrick and fletch almost week in week out. In fact all season our midfield has almost always contained 3 in the middle, with fletch and carrick playing 99% of those, and scholes, ando or gibbo sharing the third slot. This helped the midfield gel, and they outplayed the likes of Arsenal (phenomenal considering they boast two of the best attacking mids in the country, Arshavin and Fabregas), Chelsea (supposedly the best midfield in the country) and AC Milan (again very formidable). Hardly a display brittle midfield would make.
I think a lot of your reaction is immediately off the Everton game.
This season, our midfield has contributed more goals by February, then they had for the entirety of last season. Tells a story of how the likes of Fletcher, Scholes and Carrick have pulled their weight since the departure of CR7.

Attack: Tell me one thing. United scored 68 goals last season, Ronaldo scoring 18 and Rooney 12, Berbatov 9 and Tevez 5. This season we have got 63 already, 23 by Rooney, 9 by Berba, 1 by Diouf and 3 by Owen. So where exactly are we “thin”? We have had one more striker on the mark than last season. That is without even counting the likes of Nani and Valencia. Berba, even though his season has been ravaged by injury and has been benchwarming for large parts, has got as many by Feb as he has whole of last season. And the entire forward line has contributed about 36 goals out of 63, compared to 44 out of 68 last season, meaning our midfield/defense, has already contributed more goals this season than last. Again, your argument of either a thin attack or poor midfield don’t hold.

  111. Anon says:

*Didn’t count Welbeck and Kiko there, so yeah we had more strikers on the scoreboard last season, but more midfielders on target this season.
Still Berba’s stats and Owen’s scoring rate prove we are far better off in the attacking department compared to last season.

  112. aig alex is god says:

No point comparing the current side with the team of last year. Last year we were a more efficient unit. This year its different. We didnt have an out and out in form striker last season with Tevez and Berbatov struggling for goals and Ronaldo not geeting them like 07-08. Rooney was wasteful and didnt play up front like now.

The main point is, we may be much more better this season when it comes to scoring goals but we won the league last season, can we do it this year?.

  113. Anon says:

I think the main reason people bang on about our “thin” attack is they still think the team plays the same way as we did last season.
That is give the ball to “The Man”, and “The Man” will do all the rest.
Well “the Man” system has now been abolished, but people are yet to figure that out unfortunately.
We are not a team that relies on a Ronaldo being the only way into the opposition’s goal. That monopoly has been done away with.
Our current system has meant that the likes of Fletcher, Carrick and Park (when he plays centrally) are found in the box, sometimes even ahead of Rooney, far more often than they would have last season.
This is mainly because Rooney is a phenomenal talent when it comes to holding the ball up, and also because they aren’t reliant on one man anymore. Now everyone has a license to create. Whether it be Evra or Valencia, the name on the back of the shirt doesn’t matter. United this season has been a bit of a total football team. They fill the gaps as they move forward as a unit, not like before where 9 men hung back and tried to fire Ronaldo clear so he could have a run and have the liberty of losing the ball and not track back.
When the team starts moving forward so fluidly, they tend to score more, create more and also lose the ball less often. Of course we have let more goals in this season, but that has more to do with stupid mistakes made by our make shift defense, example Brown’s various errors in judgement, and some Foster shockers early on in the season. When United have something resembling a first team back four, ie, with Vida and/or VDS at the back, we have not let too many in, while still banging them in.
It explains why we have been so supreme against Chelsea and Arsenal this season. Esp Arsenal, whom we were shown up against last season. When we move ahead as a unit, we kill their one touch game. Last season we gave them room to gain momentum on us, this season we stifled them, with our defenders almost their half most of the time.
So please stop reading the game on paper.
Open your eyes and actually see what is going on.
We don’t have a threadbare attack, simply because, we almost don’t have an “attack”. Our whole team comprises the “Attack”, from VDS to Evra to Rooney.
Our only concern at the moment has to be keeping Vida and VDS on the ground considering Rio’s almost crazy back problems, and finding a way to completely utilise the other worldly talent of Berbs.
I think Fergie will find a way to deploy him more effectively in Europe as well as the league because Scholesy cannot play very often, and there really isn’t an alternative to play anyone else, coz no one does what he does so well. Maybe the trio of Carrick Fleytch and Ando can do the trick, but let’s hope Ando’s injury isn’t too bad for that!

  114. aig alex is god says:

    @rtnk

i agree with you we need a new striker. However we are now approaching the business end of the season. The transfer window is closed, nothing can be done. The logical thing would be to support the strikers we have and hope they can do the job.Surely SAF will reasses the situation in the summer and if needed will make signings depending on the progress of the young lads.

    Good morning everyone.
I just don’t get it. What has Berba done that bad since you open your mouths to slate the player ? He is modest, skillful, gets on with the job when called upon, doesn’t moan and loves the club.
He doesn’t fit into system ? Into what system ? Did you see the Everton game ? West ham ? Did he fit ? Oh cmon. Stop saying this continuous bullshit and let him and Fergie sort out when he needs to play and when he will be useful for us. I still believe he has future at the club and i don’t want to lose such a player. If you hate the player just SAY it and stop inventing chaos theories.

I just love Scholesy’s contribution these days. He is in magnificient form.
Valencia vs. Nani. They are different but i like Toni’s aggressiveness, he actually goes at defenders. But we have two different players for position and it gives you options.

  118. King Eric says:

Corea – Hello mate. Spot on on all counts.

  119. Costas says:

    @Corea

Unfortunately people won’t change their opinion for Berbatov no matter what.

You are right about Valencia. In fairness, many of our players have stepped up in recent months. Rooney is unbelievable. Berbatov is playing his best football for us. And at the moment, all 4 of our wingers are in great form! It will be tough for Fergie to choose.

Last but not least, my favorite player in recent weeks is Paul Scholes. I was never a big fan of his. Nothing to do with his talent. I just liked Giggs, Beckham and Solskjaer more. But he has been fantastic for us this year.

  120. King Eric says:

Anon – great posts mate, you are wasting your time with rtnk though. I have given up now after last night’s frankly ridiculous comments.

  121. King Eric says:

Costas – Hi mate. You were never a big fan of Scholes? Aside from probably Giggs he has always been my favourite. This season though he is on another level. Everything goes through him. Continually switches play and is always creating. Just recently he has been getting into the box alot more aswell. Pure quality. Makes it look very easy. Best form for 2-3 years since 06 season. On this form Fergie will definately give him another year and rightly so. Immense player. I am pleased we won without the likes of VDS, Carrick, Fletch and Giggsy. Things are looking good.

To say its Valencia’s first season it is frightening to think HOW good he can get.

  122. Corea says:

Costas – don’t know why but Scholes is my favorite player. Maybe it’s because he is so underrated. Because he is modest. Because he is an atacking midfielder. Because he has played his career at our club. Or maybe because he is ginger ? We all have our heroes.
I always believed he will still give us something because i hate the thought of not seeing him anymore in our shirt. But right now i don’t believe what i am seeing. Maybe lack of injuries helped the cause. But when you consider our team without him who will do the job for us right now?
It will be difficult to find his replacement.

  123. King Eric says:

Corea – You will NEVER be able to replace the genius of Paul. Different class and pisses all over the likes of the thug, fat Frank and pub player Barry.

  124. Corea says:

Anyone noticed Toni actually took a shot using his left foot ?
A very modest one though :)

  125. Costas says:

    @King Eric

Hi. Thee was a time when I considered him the best midfielder in the game. I just didn’t like him as much as I liked other United players. We all have our weaknesses. Mine were Solskjaer, Giggs and Beckham. And at the moment, he is irreplaceable for us.

    @Corea

Scholes will probably get another season. Notice that he started turning things aorund for himself after that interview before the West Ham game in December. Where he said that he might quit after this season. He has very high standards of himself and the best thing about him, is that he doesn’t show it.

  126. rooney the new king says:

King Eric – why are you calling me a username that was not me I think you are out of line to frank, fine if you feel that way I dont care anymore like I say the 07/08 side was overated so why would I use that name when I dont really rate the 07/08 side that highly. and didnt this username say we need to a hoverhaul I side we just need a striker not a complete new team get your facts straight, all I said was uniteds attack is thread bear is that such a slagging off no it is not. all united needs is a new striker.
