Liverpool Player: This Club Is A Sinking Ship

Whilst Ryan Giggs is talking about the possibility of a 19th title this season, Liverpool’s Albert Riera has been slagging off the manager and claimed the situation of the club at the moment is like that of a sinking ship.

“I’ve been here two years and I know how he (Benitez) is,” said Riera. “He’s never sorted out a situation with a player by talking with him. He thinks he’s in charge and everything else falls on deaf ears. His dialogue with the players is practically nil.”

Whilst still unacceptable, this statement would make more sense if there was a language barrier, but as it is, Riera is Spanish like Benitez.

“The team’s playing badly and needs changes. It is a sinking ship.”

Great to see morale is high ahead of Sunday!

    Its an intentional attempt to try and show that they are in low spirits ahead of Sunday. They will be as fired up as ever. I expect the players to be up for it and not pay attention to all this talk coming out of the liverpool camp

  2. DEVILisRED says:

    pls do sink this sunday.

  3. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    the liverpool ship is sinking?????????
    i taught it went down 20 years ago just some of the reckage bobbed to the water top last year and the media taught the ship had survived but as the reckage started to crack over time the ship sunk further than it ever did. one of the worst ship wreck storys of the merseyside docks.

    its amazing when you think about it
    lets just say,and i think these next 7 words are crap, united dont win the league this season.
    could you imagine going to betfred and saying i wanna put a fiver on 7 time title winners aston villa to win 18 titles before united even win one more
    and then villa would be top of the league come the 3rd week of march on course to been the 19th time champions while manchester united are on the road to 8th place
    those odds would be unreal

  4. willierednut says:

    I posted an article about this on a different thread, maybe aig has a point but i can’t see us losing for a fourth time in a row, 2 0 on Sunday.

  5. GTull says:

    I don’t think there’s a United fan out there who doesn’t want to see L’pool finish outside the top 4, lose their best players (albeit to City probably), and slump to permanent mid-table mediocrity!

    Sinking ship or not though, on sunday it won’t matter, they’ll be up for it. It’s their cup final. Last season we all know what happened at OT and it galvanised their season. We can’t let that happen again!

    I just can’t wait for Rafa’s interview after the game! Watching him squirm is always classic viewing.

  6. AlphaRS says:

    @willierednut
    Thing is this kind of comment can either reduce morale even further or rally the troops.
    We all know that the rat munchers need no motivation to try and stop us winning number 19.
    They will be up for it and with Torres and Gerrard they are a real threat. Even if they have been shite recently.

  7. Sayyid says:

    Let’s all wait for the “I was misquoted” or “taken out of context” statement

  8. AlphaRS says:

    @GTull
    If the rat munchers manage to pull another one over United then it might just be their spring board in to putting a run together and finishing in 4th spot. The only problem is the teams around them. Nobody is taking real advantage and leading the charge. There are a few teams around them with games in hand but they never seem to win them! It’s really annoying. No european football at all for the rat munchers. It just would be brilliant. There is no intertoto cup anymore is there?!

  9. AlphaRS says:

    @Sayyid
    Hopefully the rat munchers will get battered 4-0.
    The post match interview the FSW pulls out an A4 piece of paper from an inside pocket of his jacket.
    He says “I don’t want to talk about this…. but let me tell you about FACHTS. FACHTS about Mr Feguson….”
    That would be a classic!

  10. GTull says:

    @AlphaRS

    I know what you mean, although don’t exactly want City in that top 4 either.

    I’ve found myself willing on Spurs, I think they’re a better side than City and L’pool but I fully expect them to bottle it in true Spurs fashion.

    And Rafa… I can see it now… ‘I don’t want to talk about the referee, he was perfect… just like Sam Allerdyce, he’s perfect, Barca want to play like him’

  11. The Real AB says:

    @AIG
    Hi mate,
    I honestly don’t think it’s mind games ahead of the Sunday’s Clash. He is an International Player and with the World Cup just around the corner he wants to play regularly to get in the Squad.
    But you are right when you said that they will be fired up.
    But trust me mate, we will be more fired up then ever for this game because of two reasons.
    1) The importance of this game regarding the Title Chase and less importantly the fact that if Liverpool loose than it’s almost certain that they will finish below the Top 4 and SAF would love it and so will every United supporter.
    2) SAF would definitely not want to loose for the forth time in a row from. And he will make sure that each and every player gives more than 100% in this game.

    We will kick some butts this Sunday. 3-0 for us.

  12. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    blackburn away united 5 points clear just got knocked out of europe and you captain just knocked someone down
    your team is always in the papers but never for anything good
    this could easily be chelsea come half 3 on sunday

  13. King Eric says:

    I would prefer the dippers to finish fourth than the berties. IMAGINE the giddiness. “we are gonna buy Messi and Ronaldo etc etc”. It just shows you what that cunt Benitez is like. The worst man manager in football history. Only he could alienate his fellow spaniards.

  14. willierednut says:

    AlphaRS – Yes them 2 will be up for it, Torres is the player that worries me, i hope Vida is on his game a crunching tackle in the first few minutes should do the trick.

  15. aig alex is god says:

    @The Real AB

    Hi mate.

    I honestly hope you are right. It will be tight but as mentioned many times before i think Fletcher may make the difference and more steel to our midfield which we have been lacking in the recent games against liverpool

    Riera has struggled for months now to get a regular spot. Why did he have to say all this now when they have so many crucial games coming up?. Seems a bit puzzling that one.

  16. King Eric says:

    Furthermore this may upset some BUT the dippers should be in Europe with their history. I know we can’t keep looking back like this but who would you rather play in a European Cup Semi Final Liverpool or fucking Villa? I know which I would choose.

  17. King Eric says:

    Agree with the RealAB . United are in great form and the comments coming from our camp is the lads are so desperate to make history. I really do feel we will be too strong. Kyriagos and Carragher will be fucked trying to contain Rooney. Valencia and Nani or Park or Giggs will fucking terrorise the piss poor Insua and Johnson and Fletch will dominate the middle with the ginger prince and Carrick.

  18. aig alex is god says:

    @King Eric

    Hi mate.

    On form there can be only one winner but more often than not form goes out of the window in such games. Upsets are waiting to happen in derby games especially for teams like city and Liverpool for whom this is ‘biggest game of the season’.United have lacked fight in the last 3 games. Lets hope the same wont happen on Sunday

  19. King Eric says:

    aig – hello mate, hope you are well. Oh absolutely mate form goes out the window but I just think this season United are a whole different animal to the vermin. Stevie Me was in top form all season last year but he has been woeful. Can he pull it out the bag for one game? Not sure he can, the crowd will be on his case and I can see him walking this sunday. Gonna see how they look tonight.

    Regarding your comment on the other thread about Messi. I appreciate he is a right talent but it wasn’t that what was bothering me.It’s the lack of respect United get compared to Barca. We got fuck all credit for hammering Milan 7-2 on aggregate yet they all bang on about Barca beating Stuttgart 5-1. I know you can only play whats in front of you but it is much easier playing Stuttgart than it was in the San Siro against Milan. Fucking hell mate I am on one again now!!!! I need to chill the fuck out!!!

  20. Doghouse says:

    I’m tempted to think this is Liverpool trying to make us over-confident. If it isn’t then it’s a really big deal but either way we need to put them to the sword at the weekend.

  21. Its in my blood says:

    @King Eric

    Hi mate, have to agree with you about preferring the bin dippers to finish 4th rather than the lemon eaters. Much as i loathe both, the summer of gloating from the blue third of Manchester about new signings would be too much.
    A top four finish does increase the odds of actual talent arriving in the Wastelands.
    As for the media waxing lyrical over Barca, have to agree again.
    Yes it was a good performance, yes Messi is outstanding etc, but as you rightly pointed out previously, it was Stuttgart, 9th or so in their league and so on.
    United still don’t get the recognition that is dished out all too easily to anyone else, but United.
    Compare the plaudits handed to the Arse as well!
    No fear of ANY of them.
    WE…..are Manchester United.

  22. AlphaRS says:

    @GTull
    If it was a toss up between Shitty and the Rat Munchers I would want Shitty to finish 4th. I’m sure plenty will disagree though. I don’t have much hope for Tottenham or Villa. I can see the Rat Munchers somehow getting a few decisions going their way and making it in to 4th spot. They have already had a hand from the FA by letting Stevie Me off the hook.

    @willierednut
    I just hope Vida doesn’t have a bad day at the office. Regardless of what we think of Torres due to his ties with the rat munchers he is world class. I wouldn’t mind having him sitting on our bench as back up for Rooney. United Rant are saying we could do alot worse than signing Higuin from the fascists. I can’t understand them. Higuin is their top scorer and they president wants to get rid of him and start Benzema because he doesn’t fit the profile of a Galactico. Ronnie makes me laugh saying there are too many individuals. Bet he is missing the unsung heroes at United such as Park and Fletcher who did all the donkey work for him!

  23. wiuru says:

    It hardly matters to us what any player says this match to us the fans is do or die stuff . I couldnt care less if they are sinking, against us they will throw everything ..

  24. Zulu-Malta says:

    I pray day and night that this story of the scoucers are a sinking ship will come true. I declare myself as public enemy number 1 of the dippers !
    I have been saying to people here in Malta that the dippers are going to change their song and instead of you’ll never walk alone they are going to start singing WILL NEVER WALK AGAIN !!
    It happened to Leeds scum, why not THE DIPPERS ???

  25. Gotta hate tiny tears says:

    im not gonna lie to you people
    the liverpool match is second in my manchester united brain today
    im all about burnley tonight
    Ive never been so excite by seeing a bit of curley hair in my life since emily was born with a big curley mop of hair
    its make or break for hargo tonight
    but seeing the red nev playing matches this year and possible next means its not over till its over

  26. Gudjohnsen says:

    The Liverpool ship sinking? I thought they changed it into a submarine already…oh well.

    They will be fired up against us on Sunday though, it’s their cup final. But I’m sure Fergie will not let them win fourth time in a row….

  27. stpercival, the former john ferry says:

    I see red cards for pool, they will mentally explode in a bad way if they do not score in the first 30min.

  28. Union Jack says:

    LIVERPOOL = SINKING SHIP
    UNITED = PREMIER SHIP

  29. denton davey says:

    Stpercival @ 16:02: “I see red cards for pool”

    Me, too. I think that StevieGBH is on a tightrope after two get-out-of-jail-free non-cards. The referee’s actions will be very closely scrutinized and that will probably mean that the-badge-kissing-ask-for-a-transfer captain is in for a difficult time. I’d really like to have seen Anderson get right up his nose but I guess that ThreeLungPark will now get that assignment.

  30. james21 says:

    They’ll be up for it on Sunday sinking or not. Still think Utd will win just gotta keep Torres quiet (If he’s not crocked again) and don’t give him anything. Play like we have been and we’ll hammer them.

  31. kel says:

    United are currently 15 points ahead of Liverpool and could go 18 points clear after Sunday’s meeting at Old Trafford. However, they are still some way from recording their best ever Premier League finish over Liverpool.

    Back in 1993/94, United finished 32 points ahead of their rivals, although that was of course a 42-game season. In 38-game Premier League seasons, the record difference is 25 points – which was achieved by United in their treble-winning season of 1998/99. That season Liverpool finished seventh with just 54 points. However, after 30 games of that season the gap was just 14 points. This year it is 15 points, so Liverpool were in fact better off at this stage in 1999!

    I have detailed the difference in points between the two teams in the table below. As you can see, Liverpool have only finished above United once in Premier League history.

    38-game seasons:

    Season Points margin
    2008/09 4
    2007/08 11
    2006/07 21
    2005/06 1
    2004/05 19
    2003/04 15
    2002/03 19
    2001/02 -3 (Liverpool ahead)
    2000/01 11
    1999/00 24
    1998/99 25
    1997/98 12
    1996/97 7
    1995/96 11

    42-game seasons:

    Season Points margin
    1994/95 14
    1993/94 32
    1992/93 25

  32. Gandalf says:

    @ King Eric – I absolutely agree with you regarding the credits that United never get…this has been going on for ages. It does my head in too from time to time and then I try to remind myself to just enjoy our victories a bit more. These people are so thick and deluded that they just want to believe something which is any ABU shit.
    Richard Keys and Southgate and everyone else ranting on and on about moronho… gimme a break. He is not as good as these make him out to be. But then he is not associated with United now, is he? and I hope it stays that way.

    @GHTT – without wanting to sound snooty or anything, I observe that you use taught for thought almost all the time…what’s up with that?

  33. King Eric says:

    The dippers have issued a statement tonight along the lines of Riera will NEVER pull on a Liverpool shirt again. Oh I bet he is gutted. Have you seen their fucking bench tonight? Laughable.

  34. willierednut says:

    I seen that King Eric, the fsw will be following him in the summer.

  35. sir82 says:

    Were gonna batter ‘em, we’ve battered the others a few times over the past few seasons, especially the gooners, but now scoursers time to get slapped around.

  36. Little-Miss-United says:

    Finally! some one from Rafa’s team can think of a simple equation. Now they should teach him another one that says: Liverpool + another decade = No titles

  37. Jay says:

    MInd games i should say.to make it as it they are all down.they’ll be fired up for sunday i’m sure.it’s like they get some extra energy when they play us.We have to be up to it.We have to be more fired up and take control at our Old Trafford.We were complacent the last 3 defeats against them,but anything and everything can happen in a match.it’s the mindset.We were sort of complacent last season i feel,with Rooney saying that he hates liverpool and some of the rest saying we’re going to beat them, shouldn’t say stuff like this before it happens.we ended up being humiliated at home.We’re making more sense this time,learning from our lessons and cutting out the complaceny,like how Fletch is saying that it’s silly if we’re going to think liverpool aren’t playing as well as they are expected to.though it’s a massive game against of rivals,but more than revenge,i just want the 3 points.

  38. manchuchu says:

    Sometimes, a leg just kicks a ball in Poo’s net.

  39. Zalee says:

    but we don’ need to get complacent since the dippers won 3-0 against lille at anfield for the europa league especially the first goal from gerrard by penalty made by lucas. see the video:
