Liverpool Star: United Catching Record Would Be A Tragedy

Fernando Torres, who has yet to get his hands on any silverware with Liverpool, has today confessed that it would be a small tragedy if United won the league this season, equalling the dippers’ record of 18 titles.

Whilst none of the current players have come close to winning the Premiership with Liverpool, Torres acknowledges that the players are very keen to cling on to their record.

With Chelsea losing at the weekend and Liverpool set to play tonight, United are now just five points behind both teams, with a game in hand on Chelsea. With our most difficult fixtures all out of the way now, after travelling to Stamford Bridge, the Emirates, Anfield, Villa Park, Wastelands and Goodison Park, our title challenge is starting to take shape, much to Liverpool’s displeasure.

“Manchester United are pressing us and if they win the league they will have the same number of titles as us,” said Torres. “That would be a small tragedy for us all. We are playing game by game but if the truth be told the club and the fans are more aimed at winning the Premier League. The title has not been won for 19 years and there is a lot of excitement at the moment. We will never give in and we will fight for the title until the last minute.”

I saw him on X factor Saturday night, and he / she seemed to be miming, which I found a bit dissappointing. I liked his early stuff like ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ and ‘Ooops I Did It Again’, but since he went mental there last year, I could take him or leave him.

Liverpool will never win the title again. Those so and sos are more and more deluded every year. Still living in the veneer of glory from a long, long time ago, with that sanctimonious feeling that they ‘deserve’ a title that the BBC pundits do so much to foster.

LoL!!! No wonder when Torres miss his goal opportunity I can hear the fans from the stand singing “Oops, I did it again” in the TV. Singing “Hit me baby one more time” when he got tackled. Haha!!

  10. Mic says:

What a tool, i’ve never seen a player say so many things that his fans would want to hear, he’s suddenly a Liverpool fan is he? Always wanted to play for them did he? Bollocks, he’s ditched his hometown club for money and they’ve gone strength to strength without him anyway. I’m sure he’s expecting a tragic end to the season then.

North Stand,Tier 3,Back Row , I thought he was the product of Pancake and Gerrard’s Mrs.

  12. Drew Vader says:

Is he hurt for their game with West Ham today?? Something about a hamstring or groin injury?? I hope so….

I know we keep saying Pool will drop points and will fall out of the chase….. but am I the only one who is a little worried?? I mean, if we don’t win the league, as much as it kills me to say it, I would rather have Chelski win it than the scousers.

  13. King Eric says:

Drew, yeah think he is out for three weeks last I heard third hamstring problem in as many months. Come on hammers

  14. Drew Vader says:

LOL LOL LOL did anyone just see Gerrard’s swing and a miss?? Wow, it was hilarious. He went down like he got shot too, must have just been out of habit

  17. Par says:

Mic, he took a pay cut to go to liverpool. He also has a YNWA tattoo from several years ago, so I think you can safely say he’s a legitimate fan. Unlike Rooney, who has no trouble demeaning *his* boyhood club. Which he left for money.

  18. Eujen says:

Rooney is an arse to everton, because everton fans are arses to him.

  19. in moscow we made it 3 says:

Rooney didnt leave for money, he left coz the club treated him like crap and because he wanted to win things. Since torres has left Athletico they have done really well in the league and are now in the champions league, so the same cant be said about him
