Following Manchester United’s 2-1 win against West Ham, booking our place in the FA Cup semi-final against Everton, Louis van Gaal has spoken about his happiness at being able to go to Wembley.

It’s a difficult place to come – they haven’t lost here since August; it was difficult because they have beaten all the top teams here. After the defeat at Liverpool, the next game was against West Ham in the FA Cup; we were 1-0 down and fought until the end for 1-1. The spirit in the team is very good, you cannot deny that. It was a fantastic result and I’m happy I shall go to Wembley as a manager.

I have played and been there as a coach of the Dutch national team when we played against England in 2000, I think. Now it’s a new stadium, different for me so I’m very happy. Now we have to reach the final – then I will be even more happy. It is not important for me; it is important for the club, for the players and for the team. I said I wanted a title and I am very happy but it is very important for the club.
