Macheda: I’m Baaaaack

Federico Macheda’s goal yesterday would have seen us remain top of the league with five games to go, had the linesman got to Specsavers and noticed Didier Drogba was a good yard offside when scoring Chelsea’s winner.

Our young striker is pleased to have played, after returning from a lengthy spell out with injury, and is eyeing more appearances in the remaining games of the season.

“As a striker, it’s always good to score, but it would have been better if we’d have won the game,” said Macheda. “We are very disappointed, but there are still five games left and we are ready to play those games. I hope to be involved in the upcoming matches – I’ve had a few injuries this season and been out for a good few months. But I’m pleased to be back now.”

Play 4-4-2 from now on. Berba on his own haven’t worked for us. Macheda deserves his chance.

  2. Costas says:

Welcome back son. His season is just starting. Lets hope it’s not too late.

  3. man united says:

did you here that rooney could be back for the bayern . there reports in the daily mail saying that ronney has begeed fergie to paly him against muinch. and he is doing some kind of traing did any one see that. ya think 4- 4- 2 is the way forward. ailmy berbatoov cant paly surel fergie knew that so paly macheada if we do lose then he can balme fans, i got 2 easter eggs half one nearly gone

  4. The Real AB says:

Better late then never and I honestly believe it is not too late.
The next 5 games we will get our opportunity to overhaul the rentboys.

  5. EastStandManc says:

To be fair, had the ref ‘gone to SpecSavers’, he would’ve seen that Kiko put the ball in the back of the net with his hand, so it would still have been 0-1, if he’d got both decisions correct.

I’m not subscribing to this ‘robbery’ theory. Chelsea were good value for the victory yesterday, as much as it pains me to say it. We just weren’t good enough, early enough.

  6. Fze123 says:

To have the ability to perform under pressure in big games is incredible for a 18 year old. I don’t think he’ll feature against Bayern, but he might partner Berba in our remaining league games.

  7. Gee says:

Have to agree with EastStandManc, we can say we were robbed but we all saw how shit we played and thats why we lost. We could have maybe said we deserved a draw but looking at what we did in the final third and the long balls that were being played I think we got what we deserved. The game at SB we were robbed, yesterday we were just poor!!

I still think we will win the league tho!!

  8. islandred says:

Kiko deserves his chance – think he and Nani should have come on much sooner. Scholes and Park were quite ineffective and Berba looked lost up front on his own.

We have five games left to save our season, but I wonder does Berba and a few others have 5 games to save their United careers?

  9. ash says:

Macheda is a classic striker.Yeah agreed he is young and inexperienced but he can score goals so y not play him now in a 4 4 2 formation where he and berba play as our main striker.

  10. Prada says:

I think Fergie shud learn nt to start Giggs in a match… He’s better as a sub. Nani & Valencia shud be the starters. And then Park is shit wen playin in the hole….cudnt link the midfield to Berba. He shud be played on thd wing. Overall, I think we lost the match cos of Fergie’s bad tactics.

  11. denton davey says:

I’ve watched the goal sequence a couple of times and to my old eyes it sure looked like ball-to-hand and not the other way around. Apart from that, I was a bit stunned that none of KikoTheKid’s team-mates mobbed him – are the “rumours” of his big head true ?

  12. Kings says:

He looked very useful when he came on. He’s got good strength and is quick. I wouldn’t have any qualms about playing him alongside Berba on Wednesday. We have nothing to lose, go at Bayern with a 4-4-2.

  13. Macheda IS GOD says:

    :D
i love this kid so muchhh

  14. man united says:

macheada can save our eason why hie is you and dertiemend to break into team. i am confintent we can beat bayern amd machead to get the winner . also as i said yesterday berba and macheada looked good in per season and they looked when he came on we look more of treat. if nani had started we would have won. even if carrick palyed as well. all right he was rubbish aginst bayern but the fact is they werer all shite he would camed were midffield down. you will see a huge differnce on wednesday nite if carrick palys come on

  15. cantona7 says:

Macheda should start every game from now on.

Give him number 7 next season.

  16. Doghouse says:

All we can do is win the last five and we’re more than capable of that. Anything past that, well we’ll just have to pray or sacrifice a goat or sell our souls or stick pins in dolls or something. There are good teams and a trip to the Wembley peat bog between Chelsea and the winning post. If United are on their heels all the way in, well we’ll see what’s what. We need our strikers on top form whatever happens though because that goal difference could be a problem.

  17. roonited says:

    sorry..why *dont* you post

  18. Maci says:

Anyone know whats happening with davide petrucci???

  19. man united says:

west ham have jiust got a pently everton winning one nil. mido missed fucking idiot . if that was a pently then park was pently that was harsh pently

  20. NBI Red Onion says:

Berbaflop is a failure like Veron (though he is NOWHERE near as good as Veron) – Machaeda should play instead of psychologcal wreck slowworm Berbaf*k I hate him and I am sick of people defending him, he is a whinning little shit, when you watch a game live all you see is the little shit flapping his arms and whinging at team mates if a ball does not some straight onto his lazy foot.

How the f*k can people get on here and defend him? Statistically and in terms of goal scoring opportunities spurned he has the worst hit rate of the top 10 teams stricke, he is a mid-table player at best, he cannot head a ball in to the net for the life of him, EVERY time he dribbles the ball into a corner he is dispossesed or it goes out for a throw in. He is a bad signing and I am sure Fegie knows that, he tried to sign Drogba and Torres and the dude who now doesnt play for RM – Berbatov had one good season with Spurs even then, nothing amazing, I wish he had gone to City and Tevez had stayed at United, yes Tevez has been a bit of a shit but he gave his all for us and he is on fire right now, Berbfuck is not fit to clean Tevez boots he has less than half as many goals and his uselessness will cost us the title. Also his attitude sucks!

    Sell the c*nt.

  21. Manchuchu says:

We need strikers. Tough solid strikers and not Bulgarian fairy princess ballerinas.

    Macheda > Berbatov

I hope they give him some playing experience in the first team

  22. man united says:

@nbi red onion would you give berbaflop to spurs and we take modic the other way. and would you give hargaves to villa and we take milner and they can take andrson to and we have ashely young not bad bussines at all as we have no money

  23. redscot says:

I like the look of this lad from the small amount of evidence we have seen in the 1st team and the reserves.Talks like a Manchester United player.
I know the allegations of big headed are in the arena around him, but its probably cockyness, like thats a Sin at 18, lol.

  24. Henrik says:

    To NBI Red Onion :

his attitude sucks? Take a look at yours.
Media loves to compare Berbatov to Rooney and make Berbatov look like shit since he doesn’t have the qualities that Rooney does.

  25. NotoriousRedDevil says:

Embarrassing thing about fans like NBI Onion is that they simply have fallen for the media typecast of Berbatov and regurgitate what the back pages of the red tops say. One of our own fans calling him Berbaflop! If you want to do that go support l’arse or chelski, don’t need that from our own fans thanks. Yesterday our midfield was shit, if Berbatov came deep he got slated and if he stayed where he was he got slated. He should have had a penalty Lampard went through him from behind to get the ball, outside the box that would have been a free kick. Admittedly he should have done better with that volley at the end but how many good chances were made for him. Few people get behind him at games and want to slate him, they can go fuck themselves with their negativity.

  26. cantona7 says:

@NotoriousRedDevil he shouldn’t only have done better with the volley, he should have done better so that he gets picked to partner Rooney in every game possible. That is what a 30m player, at 27+ of age should be able to do. The fact that Fergie prefers 4-5-1 with Rooney alone upfront is proof enough that Berbatov is not good enough to force Fergie to play with 4-4-2/4-4-1-1. Therefore Berbatov is a flop. A 30m player at 27+ of age should have the ability and experience to force himself into our 1st eleven no matter what formation Fergie plays, i.e he should be near indispensable.

This is my conclusion after championing him since we bought him. And i dont think he can change that, but if he does, i will be as happy as Berbatov himself.

  27. Macheda_the_Messiah says:

I love that this kid is back. His passion for the jersey is unbelievable. 2 games in OT, 2 goals. As much as I love him, I think SAF should keep him on the bench and be able to bring him on if needed. Park is def more a middle 3 player now so I hope he goes with Valencia – Berba – Nani as his front three.

  28. EastStandManc says:

    @ denton davey:

Watch it again mate, you can clearly see him thrust his right arm (more precisely his bicep) toward the ball. Irrelevant now, though.

I think you might be reading a bit much into the fact no-one celebrated with him, especially given the fact that we only had around 9 minutes plus stoppage time to salvage something from the game and as such I’m sure the players were desperate for the game to be re-started so that they could get on with it as quickly as possible.

Under the circumstances, I’d rather have players who thought we could still benefit from the game than ones concerned with how good they look celebrating

  29. King Eric says:

NBI Red Onion – You are a prick mate. The only time you come on here is to slag the team, never anything positive to say. Think you will find he is the highest scoring second striker and to say he is mid table quality smacks of ignorance.

  30. King Eric says:

man utd – sell anderson and get young and get rid of Berba and get Modric. What the fuck?

Gonna have a break from here and all things media. Some of the shite that comes out after a defeat beggars belief.

  31. King Eric says:

NRD – Spot on mate. I am all for “constructive criticism ” but some of the bile on here of late makes me sick.

  32. man united says:

reports say in the daily mail that wayne rooney is set for a senational return for the muinch game come on . the medical seeming to be pleased how ouick his recoverd, if he trains 20morrow fergie could risk him come on come on come

  33. willierednut says:

Who gives a fuck if it was handball, the ref give it, end of.

  34. lawman10 says:

kiko is the future & yes give him the number 7 shirt,
he reminds of norman whiteside…………………..put him alongside berba on wed night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
going to be a united great.

  35. Fred says:

Rooney won’t play on Wednesday, don’t be ridiculous. Look what happened to Gallas and Fabregas when Old Vinegarface rushed them back to play Barca.

  36. jsyred says:

Kiko should be given games now as he brings something different and provides us with options. Whilst Berba is not everyone’s favourite he can turn a game with his vision but will need support up front. 4 4 2 has to be the sensible way forward for now. Re Wayne I cannot see him back for the Bayern game at all and have seen no official reports on this just back page rubbish. The City game looks like the earliest but happy to be proved wrong obviously. Not wanting to go on about the Chelski game, but… I think we are lacking something in midfield and hope Hargo is the answer next season. Our passing was shocking and the amount of times we gave the ball away was a real concern.

  37. Maci says:

Fergie has got to give the lad a chance and trust me this kid wont let us down! Play a 4 4 2 with berba and kiko up front. Lets go! Come on mufc! :-)

  38. lawman10 says:

fergie has got to play kiko alongside berbatoff…………….
I am not one of bebas fans & believe playing him as a lone striker will never work as he needs to play of a striker to get the best out him.
got a feeling john oshea will play on wed night replacing gary nev………………………all this doom & gloom is driving me mad, some people think the season is over!
we have only lost a game 5 prem games to go we can still do it, dont forget we played shite on sat, chelski where not that good!!! they will come unstuck.
how many saves vds have to make?
it was just a bad day at the office stop moaning & get behind the team believe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  39. EastStandManc says:

    @ willierednut :

Aye, and similarly, who cares if it was offside? The ref gave it, end of.

I just wish people/certain pundits would stop talking like we were hard done by. Chelsea were by no means great, but they were certainly good enough to win, which concerns me because, well, what does that say about us?

Showing up ~20 minutes toward the end (when you’re losing) in a title-decider just doesn’t cut it, I’m afraid.

  40. man united says:

well i have idea put evans centre half and put vidic up fron drop berbatov and have macheada on instead of him . play the ball up vidic knocks it on . macheada lash the ball first time bang goal. try get two goals. douth it will happen do jiust and idea

  41. Vidic15 says:

Might be worth a shot on Wednesday night tbh. Keen to impress, energetic as well.

  42. willierednut says:

EastStandManc – Agreed mate, we weren’t good enough on the day. @man united Put Vidic up front, are you taking the piss.

  43. man united says:

well have you a better idea @ willerednut

  44. willierednut says:

man united – You are taking the piss.

  45. man united says:

na i think he go with berbatov and macheada.@ willeredunt

  46. willierednut says:

the likely hood is, we’ll probaly go with Berba up front on his own.

  47. man united says:

but did you here reports that rooney could make it . he has being doing well in traing over the weakned. they say he has a 40 per cent chance. only time tell if these reports are trough if dose play we will win come on

  48. willierednut says:

It’s possible, but i think the Blackburn match will probaly be when Rooneys back.

  49. man united says:

    hope you are right

  50. manchester says:

It’s such a shame that his goal was not seen and respected as much as it could of been because of the loss. He gave us some hope for the rest of the game – and made it less shameful for us than it would of been had he not scored. Well done lad – keep bringing your good luck.

  51. musca says:

NBI Red Onion, tevez didnt give the best for us. and tho berba is ineffective sometimes, he’s waaaay better than tevez.

  52. giggs11gerrard0 says:

Scott to be fair their goal should have not stood but neither should ours! It was a clear hand ball from Macheda.

  53. man united says:

reports this moring rooney did not train this moring but his ankel is healing very ouickly i reackon he will play aginst balackburn
