  5. utd_fc says:

Aah. Like they said, nothing worth doing was supposed to be easy. Newcastle and now Chelsea. Got some tough fixtures goin on

  6. philco says:

All round good solid performance. At least Michael Carrick shouldn’t have to play cb again. No disrespect to mc.

Great to see fletch back and well done to clevs, taking on the shot after that miss.

  7. Corea says:

    Exellent!
Rooney getting MOTM as well :)

    @Costas – agreed!

  8. Urmston red Hamiltino says:

Will be a good test for the youngsters. Get past the rent boys and we could go all the way.

Great for fletch to get 90 mind tonight.

  11. thedonmassawe says:

I like it! That way the boys take it seriously, unlike in recent years versus the likes of Crawley Town and Crystal Place although I think that was in the FA cup, but nevertheless bring on CSKA London!

    gaz you need psychological help

  21. connie46 says:

That is going to be a tough one, but I think Fergie will play a more experienced side for that one. Our young players looked really good today especially in defence. Hey everyone check out my blog at mysocc.blogspot.com, The Red Devils blog.

  22. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

Great performance! All the young fellas can be proud of themselves. Amidst all this good work done I can’t help but feel emotional to see Fletch back. I really never thought that I’d see him play again. How much of hardwork je must have put in, as expected from a fantastic proper lad like Fletch. This is seriously what Manchester United is about.

  23. tom c says:

ha gaz, that damn near killed me!

it’s like all these small time ‘fans’ of other ‘clubs’ have nothing better to do with their time.. go support your own fucking ‘club’!
God is with the red army, with Sir Alex at the helm :D

  24. markynorbs says:

Great challenge for the young lads. Come on United!

  25. caman67 says:

Good win yesterday, nice to see the midfielders scoring.
I expect Scott Wootton or Micheal Keane to be on the bench this Saturday.
Fergie please don’t play Carrick in defence again

  26. denton davey says:

KingOfStretfordEnd @ 01:48: ” I really never thought that I’d see him play again. How much of hardwork je must have put in, as expected from a fantastic proper lad like Fletch.”

I’m also amazed that he has been able to make such a significant recovery. From my own experience with Crohn’s Disease, I reckoned that it would be impossible for him to regain the strength necessary to compete at such a high level.

Additionally, watching DarrenFletcherinho closely was very interesting in light of all the commentary that UTD’s midfield is “weak” or “lightweight” (or whatever). He’s a real heel-snapper who simply does not give the opposition time-on-the-ball and that, more than anything else, is what’s been missing when SAF partners TheGingerNinja with Michael Carrick.

  27. KingOfStretfordEnd says:

    @denton davey

exactly mate. it’s remarkable he’s made such wonderful progress, and yes the disease, its a tough one.

That’s what epitomizes Fletch-hard work. Constantly on the heels and hounding the ball. Makes me so proud. He’s got a bit of poor luck with regards to the CL, so i really hope we make it to the finals-he needs to play in it and get the winner’s medal. Proper proper lad that Fletch, on and off the pitch, and it makes me proud that we have a player like him.

  28. Proverb says:

Watched Tom and Jerry earlier with the kids. Anderson looks like Jerry. Maybe the Tom and Jerry combination works well in midfield.

Tom and jerry getting off to a flying start in capital one cup, what a fantastic partnership they’re.
Now bring on the chavs, we’re going to expose their weak defence

  29. Ash says:

I am pretty impressed by the defensive display shown by our young boys. Keane could be our number 1 defender in years to come. He should be playing more games. No need to play carrick in defense when you have young defenders in your rank.

Let us beat chelsea at their turf. We have great opportunity now. Its not a league game so there won’t be that much pressure. Let these youngsters play that match also we can get the result.

  30. samuel - united WE stand says:

Keane is not ready yet for regular games, needs more work to do physically and should be gradually eased into the team.

  31. Proverb says:

Rooney looked lean, which is a big plus. Here hoping to see the devastating side of him more often this season..
I reckon he lost a great bit of weight, I’m not sur but must say the injury might have been a blessing in disguise hopefully shrek will score lotta goals this season

First time tom and jerry have played together for ages and BOOM!
Both scores wonderful goals, we should utilise them more in the league and hope injuries don’t fuck us overagain
The thought of a midfield 5: carrick/fletcherinho, anderson, kagawa, cleverley, rooney is freaking scary
With RVP up top jeez, that would be something special

I’m not kidding, that was our best collective performance so far this season, here’s to hoping fergie keep a consistent line-up.
    ————————————————————————–
    Lindegaard/de gea

    Rafael ferdinand jonny evans buttner/evra

    Carrick/ darren fletcher

    Rooney. Cleverley Kagawa

  32. Proverb says:

Fletcher proud to be skipper “It’s my first time as captain of Manchester United. It’s a fantastic moment http://t.co/TudW7jm7Hope we keep him as captain whilst Vida is in the sideline.

It was about a fucking time tom!!!

  33. mig78 says:

I’m glad we’ve drawn chelsea. I hope we stick by the team today. If Jones/Smalling were available by then, one should partner either Keane/Wooton at the back.

Darren Fletcher is like Mel Gibson from Braveheart!

  34. Proverb says:

Crap Chelsea in the next round we could have got someone a little easier maybe Liverfool

  35. Proverb says:

When he was 9, Ryan Tunnicliffe’s dad put on a £100 bet that his son would play for United’s first team. Just won £10k.

  36. mig78 says:

I’m a bit confused with Fergie’s comment about TC’s goal. I thought TC struck the ball in, not a powerful attempt but more like a placing/curled effort. Sidefoot? :|

    SAF:
“I’m very pleased for Anderson and Cleverley – both of them were terrific strikes. The second goal was a great bit of football and Tom has done well to sidefoot the ball home. It was a really good performance.”

  37. Proverb says:

My favourite was seeing Ryan Tunnicliffe make his first team debut for united. Made his father a rich man on the evening!

  38. Red Robin says:

Why it seems that this blog is more peaceful when united win? Why oh why.

  39. Proverb says:

ace Wayne Rooney admits Sir Alex Ferguson steamed into Tom Cleverley over his miss in last night’s Capital One Cup win over
That was a horrendous miss, had he not made up for it I reckon he would be getting slated at the mo.
Fucking happy for you wee tomas, it was about a fucking time, he have been getting himself into those scoring positions it was about facking time
Hopefully he go on to score a lot more….

  40. lordrt says:

Will be a tough game away to chelski, but if the spirit is the same and we get back our injured players then we can upset them. Only thing to do now is to watch some of their games and lay out the plan to stop them. Rooney however should be given some more rest, that injury is not healed yet from what I’ve seen and it is a big risk to play him in the weekend again. Anderson sometimes looks like he’s really Brazilian  but still needs to work more and be consistent

  41. T. says:

Let our kids with Fletcher as the lead singer rip those chaws to pieces.

  42. gaz says:

MUrebel only help i need is keeping cunts like you off this site fucking wanker

  43. samuel - united WE stand says:

Lordrt – I doubt wayne would be allowed back if the injury hasn’t healed and he’s had 4weeks of break, that’s the last thing he needs.

  44. samuel - united WE stand says:

Mig – that’s your big concern? The fact fergie called it a sidefoot? Oh dear.. there’s no huge difference if i’m honest. The thing that should be investigated is cleverly’s lack of composure inside the box, hopefully the hairdryer he got would push him to work harder and thump chances into the net.

  45. utd_fc says:

I WANNA SEE ROONEY AND RVP SHARE A PITCH. It’s about fucking time really. Fucking injuries have fucked this starting 11 beyond fuck. FUCK.

Spurs should just hand over the 3 points this week. Save us both some fatigue for midweek, and frankly save themselves further embarrassment.

Clev missed an absolute sitter. That was just terrible, he needs to work on his composure around the goal. That said his goal was actually a pretty damn good shot.

  46. samuel - united WE stand says:

Anyway, I think anderson has staked a claim for starting against a superb spurs side. The brazilian clearly has been working on his fitness and he looked sharp, bright and powerful. Driving forward with the ball, brushing aside challenges, pinging passes about and pulling the strings. Shows all his quality, that spurs game would be a match of united needing mobility and drive in midfield, anderson might get the nod and he has to keep showing quality throughout the season. Our midfield combo of fletch, cleverley and anderson was the best blend we’ve had all season. Fletch sat dipper and was the anchor man, anderson and cleverley took turns to.fly forward, rooney was in the number 10 role to be the main creative force. We had mobility and runners, we also had composure of a fletcher and his ability to win the ball.

If they can all stay fit,and continue their quality, that may be the right blend we’ve been talking about, what do people think?

  47. Proverb says:

ive got a t shirt with that on and
on the front it says spot the difference anderson kisses trophy stevie G kisses camera. http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/46507_442478532456234_1596733747_n.jpg?dl=1

  48. Costas says:

Anderson looked great. The problem is that he looked great for 60 minutes. It’s probably one of the reasons why Fergie doesn’t pick him more often. Lets hope he will continue to work on his stamina. If he does, he will become a regular again. For the time being, I feel Fergie will continue using Carrick and Scholes as his regular midfield duo. Surely though Tom and Ando will see more action from now on. Like I said yesterday, if there 2 are fit, there’s no excuse why Giggs should be prefered instead.

As for Fletch, I admit that it’s hard to imagine him as a full time player again. Such was the seriousness of his illness. But if he’s back for good, then I think he will probably be used in a 3 man midfield and just sit in front of the back 4.

  49. samuel - united WE stand says:

Utdfc – I think spurs could run us close, can’t afford to underestimate a side with their quality.

As for rooney and RVP, I agree. I know kagawa has settled seamlessly into the premier league, I still think he shouldn’t be overworked in a new league for him which is physically demanding. He has looked a little off in our couple of tough premier league games, time to bring in a fully pumped wayne rooney for the spurs match but I think fergie is more likely to stick to kagawa. Whatever happens, it will be a tough game, a game we will need to step up in gear.

  50. Proverb says:

Yeah absolutely sam, tom and jerry really compliment each. It was about time we found a partnership that really works, we should just keep that combo working whilst we asses our defensive part of our game
Fletcher looked composed and got stuck in, in couple of occasions also marshalled well the inexperienced back-line.
Twas a great game to watch

  51. RJ says:

Did anyone else think Vermiji had a good game last night?
Sure he wasted a lot of crosses, but he got into good positions and defensively he seemed pretty solid.

  52. Proverb says:

    *Each other*

  53. Proverb says:

I think defensively vermijl was abit off, was easily beaten in the process to the cross that resulted in cisses header
But offensively was comfortable, early in the second half produced the cross which imo hernandez should of putted away

  54. samuel - united WE stand says:

Costas – I think in yhis particular ocassion, anderson looked good for the entire game, not something i’ve seen for a while I must admit, he has never strung enough games due to injuries and perhaps not sustaining his form. I think he’s played well for 60mins due to a lack of full fitness perhaps but he looks sharp and bright, ready to be unleashed. He gives united a different dimension, he’s the only midfielder in the team that make those powerful runs and hey, I hope he stays fit and keeps performing, think he was making a point to the manager last night.

As for fletch, it’s good to see him back. He won’t be ratting and covering every blade of grass just yet due to him gaining fitness gradually but he can be the anchor man, a different alternative to the rolls royce of michael carrick.

  55. Costas says:

    @RJ

For a first team debut, he did ok. Showed a lot of promise but also made some mistakes. As things stand, he could start on Sunday. So hopefully he will be up for it.

  56. Costas says:

    @Samuel

That’s the most frustrating thing about yesterday’s game. Seeing Ando in such a form. He can be our difference maker just like Toure is for City. You can’t help but agonize about how different things would have been if he was available and played like this last season. Or the season before that when Barca dominated us at Wembley. Or in 09-10…you get the point. I was one of his biggest fans, but like I said recently, he’s one of those players I am the most critical about now because of the potential he has. Can’t even say “Lets hope he keeps this up” because I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve said it. Time will tell. He should be entering his peak years now.

  57. samuel - united WE stand says:

Rj – I rate vermijl highly. He looked understandably nervous at first on his debut but gradually worked his way back and looked strong. He’s a very adventurous right back, his attacking instincts can be seen but he looks a good defender too. He still needs time to develop, like many younger defenders, his positioning and tactical awareness will be worked on in training, learning off experienced pros at the club and getting tough games like last night. his quality can still be seen, big potential there. I think in time, he’ll give rafael a real challenge for that right back spot.

  58. samuel - united WE stand says:

Costas – it’s strange that fans have been scouring every squad in europe looking for a physically imposing dynamo that’s also good with the ball when united already have one in anderson who has not stayed fit for a longer period. I see the frustration, united are yet to fully benefit from the cash spent on him but I think the penny might have finally dropped for him, he knows players are around wanting to take his role and we may see a more focused anderson because he does have quality, hopefully he avoids injuries and sustains the showing of his true ability. He could be crucial, bringing similar powerful runs yaya offers city to united this season whilst also possessing quality with other things he offers on the pitch.

  59. slayer says:

Chelsea seems pretty deadly with all the firepower they currently possess. If United could play some youth into the game, I believe that they will provide a good match for us. I think SAF should give the youth some chances in BPL. Now is the time, looking at how the youth performed. If they could work out well, perhaps it might give United a solution to some of the problems. I don’t wish to see the talent of our youth wasted in the bench. Though we have the loyal duo scholes and Giggs, but I think it is time to let them retire happily, knowing the youths are there to keep the United’s dynamo running. We have relied on them for many years even after they decided to retire.

  60. mig78 says:

@ samuel, :) It was just a question, not a concern. But thanks for putting things into perspective. Chill…

  61. Adamcy says:

It was a good game yesterday with the 4-3-3 which iwill suit us better even in the league, nice to see fletcher up and running and it was a fantastic performances all round. The Young lads were nervous but considering it was there debut they did ok, just hope Fergie stick to the same team for the trip to the Chelsea.

  62. RJ says:

    @Sam & Costas
Cheers for the thoughts on him (sorry for the slow reply), do you have any idea what he’s like personality wise? He won’t do a Pogba or Morrison will he?

  63. abubakar iya girei says:

This is the permutation SAF was supposing to be fielding..Fergie relied solely on Giggs/Carrick combination in the midfield when it seems to be unworkable..Time to give the young players the chance before they become Pogba..My heart always bleeds when i see Pogba starting in juve..It’s time for Giggs and scholes to shut fergie’s advances and quit.
