Good for rafa follow Gary’s step hope fabio will took the pats number one day.

  4. Costas says:

Finally someone gets the number 2 shirt. Unfortunately, looks like 9 will be on the shelf for the season.

  5. Colbert says:

I expected van Persie to get Berba’s number. Does this mean Berba is going to stay?

  6. lennito says:

    u forgot 21- rafael!!!!

  7. Utd4life says:

Good to see the likes of Petrucci, Tunnicliffe, Blackett and my favorite youth player Lingard in the squad. I hope we have a decent run in the Carling cup this season so that we can give the youngsters some much needed playing time.
Everyone keeps banging on about how our midfield is supposed to be our weak link but I don’t see it that way. We have excellent options in the midfield provided everyone stays fit and the likes of Tom C, Powell and Ando realize their potential. I think we should be fine in the midfield as long as everyone stays FIT. The only weak link that we have is at the LB spot. We desperately need cover for AWOl Evra and I think the one more player that we might sign might just be Baines. If we get Baines and if we don’t have the ridiculous amount of injuries that we had last year then we have a squad that is good enough to conquer England and Europe.

  8. Rd5454 says:

I think sir Alex will give the 9 to danny

  9. Tapmasterfunk says:

Starting to get a bit depth back

  10. Utd4life says:

Colbert. Well, SAF didn’t mention Berba when he was comparing the present striker situation (he even mentioned Macheda but not Berba) to the 98/99 batch so I guess he might be sold just before the transfer window closes. I hope that he is sold because I hate seeing him on the bench. On the other hand, if he does stay then I hope we get to see the Berba-RVP combo atleast for one match.

  11. jeet says:

Clearly str borrowed some from zibbie ;)

  12. Walata says:

It’s being rumored on espn that we just refused an enquiry for Chicharito from Chelsea…direct consequence of the van persie signing.

Presence of “15″ is Very Important.Comrades ,He’s Our Leader.Lead us to 20th title,Oh Serbian destroyer.

  14. 50 Shades of WillieRedNut says:

Alex Song is off too! Bad day for the goon squad….

  15. roo10 says:

i personally think Petrucci is the best academy player coming through ,his passing is brilliant ,who knows how far he would have progressed if not for that injury…..Lingard and Tunnicliffe are awesome too :)

  16. xol says:

Fuck, we’re not signing song are we?

  17. jeet says:

Where to, willie? Confirmed or rumors? Sorry, on the ph and can’t browse much

  18. Walata says:

    @ xol

    Song is going to Barca

  19. samuel - united WE stand says:

Willie – the song transfer to barca is puzzling to me. He’ll be nothing more than a squad player there like seydou keita. barcelona must see Something in him but he’s not that much of a loss for arsenal and will struggle to break into their team.

  20. United's Shaikh Re'd'volution says:

  21. CedarsDevil says:

Would seriously love to have some of that coffee that STR had today!

Who is this number 20 fella by the way?

  22. 50 Shades of WillieRedNut says:

Jeet – Barca apparently. Like Samuel says though, a bit of a strange signing. They’re stocked with quality midfielders….

  23. parijs van java says:

    what a great day!!
i have 2 great things today..first,this day is indonesia independence day..and second, man utd have sign van persie!that makes my day even greater..!

  24. jeet says:

Back up to biscuits? I hope this marks the beginning of the end for barca – shocking fall in standards :)

  25. Julian says:

well done rafael, you got the no.2! now step up and show what you’ve got! ;)

Evening dip shit……..Check your email you fool……..

  27. xol says:

Wigan have started something with playing 3 at the back. Hadn’t seen it for many years – I think mullets have come and gone out of fashion twice since I remember seeing it. For Italy it surprised the Spanish (for the first game). Never a Club to imitate or gatecrash trends, City are now giving it a go. I hope it fails spectacularly. Has anyone anywhere tipped the Berties to finish outside the top 2? No? They have now; City will finish 4th or 5th, maybe worse – just depends on the extent of capitulation. Once they’re out of the race, I think things will fall apart. Also I don’t rate Kompany. In fact when I hear his name I picture him looking gutted after letting one in (a goal, not a foreign object). He doesn’t stay on his feet and should be sent off for dangerous tackles a lot more often. Refs are allegedly watching out for that this year – Bernstein hasn’t confirmed if the rule applies to all Clubs yet though. I don’t think we’ll be going 3 at the back. It’s not positive enough so I think we’ll stick with 2 at the back, with full backs forward.

  28. CedarsDevil says:

Just like Berba before him, my son took one look at city and said FUCK OFF

Oh and just to irritate some folk here, his name is Robin Van Cedars! Get IN

  29. Diego says:

Napoli plays a 3-4-3 at it is really exciting at times. I just think that their fullbacks aren’t disciplined enough against teams that have a lot of the ball. Also, Kompany is the second best CB in the league, after a fully fit Vidic.

  30. 911_DEVIL says:

    Evening
Is there still no team interested in berba?
Its clear that he won’t be getting game time
Such an incredibly talented folk being underrated
Are we asking for too much?

  31. Costas says:

    @willie

I guess the Barca manager figured that a midfield destroyer is always welcome. ;)

  32. johnbosco obiora says:

i expect Van persie to get no9 w keane no28 m keane no29 sel Barbatov

  34. 50 Shades of WillieRedNut says:

    Costas – He’s no destroyer? He’s a pussy cat! :P

  35. 911_DEVIL says:

    Haha, pussy cat :D !

  36. jesmonta says:

Maybe we will add number 21….Dambele or Moutinho.

  37. Costas says:

    @Cedars

    It’s gotten that bad?

    @Willie

He’s a pussy cat if you take out the word cat. :D

  38. slayer says:

At this moment, I am quite impressed by the firepower we have currently. If RvP and Rooney, Chica and Welback could make a pair of deadly combo just like the ’99, I am quite sure United might be much more tougher to beat since the goals will be bountiful. However, I am still concern about our defense, not much have been done to strengthen them when we need them both to be top-notch in order to work. Wouldn’t want to see something like winning 2/3 goals only to get a sucker punch from the opponent team. Never mind that, for now, I would be interested in watching how’s United progress in this season. May the United Spirit Lives On.

  39. CedarsDevil says:

    Costas

Its even worse mate, might switch to bed sheets soon! Seriously though, what a signing

  40. 911_DEVIL says:

Seems like some fans have forgotten about ka-gawa after the signing of RVP
Ka-gawa is our signing of the season and may go on and win the english football’s top player accolade for this season, he’s that good
Its only a blessing we have all the trio of them in one team.
    Aka
    Rooney
    Kagawa
    RVP20

  41. Utd4life says:

Ferane. Thanks for the article mate. I think the other player that SAF was hinting at might be Baines. We desperately need a cover for Patrice “AWOL” Evra and Baines will be a good backup to Evra. I hope the deal goes through.

  42. 911_DEVIL says:

Ha, nani is even being forgotten on some fantasy line-ups on here :P

  43. Zibbie says:

Tree hello, had a pot luck at work. People all bring a dish, 10 out with the shits, but piss for me!! But the weekend stars NOW!!

    GO RVP!!!!!!!!!!!

  44. TonyBee says:

see the Prick is still posting….thick skinned that one…or just plain stupid….

  45. Fred says:

Ferane – I agree, fingers crossed it’s not him.

Martin Jol said earlier that an unnamed club had made a “very low” offer for Dembele and TalkSHITE is now reporting that it was United (£5m.)

  46. 911_DEVIL says:

    Good evening @zibbie
    Go rooney!

  47. mickjk says:

Good. I was fretting that we’d take the number 9 from Berbs. That would have hurt.

  48. CedarsDevil says:

    Another match day visual

Wee Thomas plays a tricky one two with Kagawa who then lays the ball to Scholes at the edge of the box and BOOM goooooaaallll!

Fuck off city fuck off city fuck off city fuck off city

  49. 911_DEVIL says:

    Hello tonybee

  50. Zibbie says:

I LOVE BEING A FAN OF THIS GREAT INSTITUTION!!

  51. Ferane says:

    Fred

I insist it can’t be in the middle of the park because SAF gives clear signals that it is in a specific place where we are short in terms of players and it is LB

    http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2012/Aug/sir-alex-ferguson-maybe-one-more-signing.aspx

  52. one two says:

Right now this team is awsome and the one player we would buy if becomes available is baines. If this also goes through my God!! we will have some super talented , highly productive team which can surely break even a brick wall and ofcourse i want us to beat barca. They are in some kind of dream land and we must bring them down. This season am sure SAF is aiming the champions league. He want that so badly.Thats the only reason he had RVP and one more player(Baines). This team with kagawa was enough to beat down shitty. But now we will have a real go at UCL. With the addition of the unknown player SAF mentioned this is going to be a season in the history books.

  53. CedarsDevil says:

    My Dick!

    Go RVP indeed my friend

It has been a good week, fucking loved every second of it
    United, united, united!!!

  56. Fred says:

I Ferane – I disagree. The boss didn’t mention anything about a position where we’re short of numbers, he just said “one other position”.

  57. Zibbie says:

fOR REAL STILL BUZZING THEN SEEING THE FIRST rvp IN A mufc KIT! WOW

  58. TonyBee says:

  72. utd_fc says:

Its all about the money. Its nice that Vpersie is saying all the right things but I don’t believe em for one second.

He chose Manchester over London and Juve because of the money and he chose United over City because he’d be playing more here

  73. Pint Glass of Vodka says:

That roster looks absolutely frightening btw.

Enough players to field 2 full XI’s and 2 full benches of quality.

  74. Zibbie says:

No worries love the knuckle shuffle reference.

  75. 3 lions says:

we’ll be ripping teams a new arsehole this season lads!!! no 20 has joined for the 20th title!!

  76. Zibbie says:

Vod, my impaler friend. I to hold hope for the difference maker, Heskey. He could be the man SAF made reference to? Live in constant hope.

  77. Pint Glass of Vodka says:

    Five knuckle shuffe?
Is that a reference to Daniel Agger’s search for a tattoo artist to switch the “YMWA” tattoo on his knuckles to read “MCFC”? That would be one talented bloke (the tattoo artist, not Agger).

  78. Zibbie says:

    Roar 3lions roar!!!!!

Scholes looked the lad playing with Kagawa, now add RvP, runs 1st touch wow wtf!!!

Not sure if this was posted on another thread, but there are some good shots. I especially love seeing Fletch in the mix.

Nani training in a puka shell necklace is a bit weird, though.

  84. TonyBee says:

Robin Van Persie cost £24 million and has scored 96 Premier League goals.

Emile Heskey is free and has scored 110 Premier League goals.

What on earth was Fergie thinking?

  85. TonyBee says:

Van Persie chose Manchester United because of ‘the little boy inside’ of him.

That’s funny… Gary Glitter got jail for that.

  86. Pint Glass of Vodka says:

    Cedars

Mate i love your passion here to and i respect you, but it’s kinda saddening me how people are eating it all up. Yes he is a superstar, and deserves a superstar salary but i guess it’s just the way money has changed football. I’d believe all this much more if he wasn’t receiving 200k a week. Can you honestly tell me you don’t feel slightly dirty about this deal? I do. I feel we’ve hired a high paid hitman, who’s here to do a job. People lambast rooney here for ambitiongate and I agree with that. But at least he’d given us his all since he was 18, and while I wasn’t happy about it, I could still justify it to myself thinking he’d given us so much, he deserves it, etc etc. I can in no way justify this deal to myself, or anyone else for that matter, especially with the financial position we’re in.

I just hope this doesn’t have a snowball effect, with regards to wage demands here. If this means phasing out someone like Danny or Nani just because they decide to play hardball with regards to their own financial gains then they deserve to do that seeing as they’ve been with us longer (not saying they’d ask for 200k, but it’d be much higher than what they were expecting before i’d believe). And what about others. This could come back to bite us in the ass. I just hope i’m wrong.

Maybe this is just me overthinking things too much. Maybe i’m trying to look at too big a picture and should focus on what’s in front of us. Because he is a damnn fine player and will have us on the edge of our seats i’m sure. I just hope this isn’t us going over to the dark side with the likes of Madrid, and (i think i’m gonna be sick) Citeh.

Sorry for raining on everyone’s parade here.

  125. gexmex says:

The Mexican press (and TV) are already “recommending” Hernandez to move on, despite his agent saying he wants to stay and play for the club. I suppose they will keep a weekly tally of minutes played. The real problem will arise if the national team manager (who happens to be the manager that gave him his first chance) tells him that he should be playing or else. With Vela returning to Mexico’s team, Hernandez could find himself under lots of pressure.

  126. JC says:

Yeah I got a kick out of ESPN Soccernet trying to claim Hernandez’s silence indicates that he is uncomfortable and wants to move on. Not only did they completely make up the conclusion but they lied about his slience.

  127. The Scottish Wonder says:

Next season I hope Fabio will get the 22 if Scholes retires, then the brothers will wear # 2 & 22 :)

No you’r not alone mate !
In my humble opinion we need KYLE WALKER from Spurs !! Am I right ?

  131. nemanjavidiclew says:

@Zulu-Utd-Malta I was thinking walker as well.

  132. Zulu-Utd-Malta says:

    @nemanjavidiclew.
Of course you think about Kyle Walker. In my humble opinion he is one of the best no2 in Europe at present. His body frame, hs movment on the ball, his pace, his timed tackles and he normally deosn’t get caught when he is on the attack ! for me he is exelent !!!
Fergie Fergie sign him up PLEEEEEEZE…………………….

  133. Catotraa says:

Think barca bought song for central-back duties tbh. They want fast, possessioncompetent defenders as they line up quite high in the pitch

  134. JC says:

nemanjavidiclew – yes you are, Rafael has our RB slot nailed down for years. He is still young don’t forget so you may see an error now and then but he has the talent and drive to be the best RB in the league for a long while.

  135. nemanjavidiclew says:

@JC I hope you turn out to be right.
