It’s a laugh picturing the Chelsea team stood on Peter Street shivering at 7am following a fire evacuation. Silly ol Diego Maradona lighting up a cigar in his room after what I can only imagine was a big night on the town!
I wonder if it was outside the Radisson that Jose Mourinho and Maradon got talking. I wonder if they swapped opinions on Carlos Tevez. I wonder if Mourinho told Tevez’s International coach that if the Argentine was an Inter player, he would be starting ever week…
“I saw Manchester United win without Tevez. This isn’t good for him,” said Maradona. “Certain episodes are certainly bringing closer his exit. Italy and Inter in particular would be excellent solutions. What’s more, his contract is running out, which makes it easier to change team. What advice would I give him? To come running to Inter. I can already imagine the extraordinary partnership he’d form with Ibrahimovic.”

“To come running to Inter. I can already imagine the extraordinary partnership he’d form with Ibrahimovic.”
Isn’t that what Maradona say about Aguero? o.O
Tevez should start some games. Fergie promised a team rotation system. In the forward department there has been no rotation in league and Cl games. Always Berba and Rooney. Not that they’re doing badly, on the contrary. But I think that Tevez deserves to start some matches as well.
what does TNSSO stand for
@Imy, The Not So Special One
excuse my naive-ness – why r chelsea called the rent boys again?
little gay hookers….happens a lot in London…wise, morris, le saux, bosingwa, lampard, deco.. they’ve got a habit of employing male prostitutes
yeah, the second bit he said about Aguero – who is looking like a better prospect than Benzema even(who we are again linked with).
to be fair… Maradona says a lot of things – he’s never really been one to think before he speaks. he might change his mind neext week! on the other hand, tevez thinks of him as a second father, and tevez is ‘a son to him’. ironic as aguero is actually going to give maradona a grandkid!
cheers
I can’t say he is wrong at this point.Maradona wants players like Tevez to have match practice and he is not getting that at the moment.I have always said that in the Tevez situation we can still make our own luck.Does Fergie think that he can get a striker of that caliber for less money?Benzema i think is rated at double the price that Tevez is and Huntelaar has joined Real. There are not many left out there.
Apart from the last couple of sentences, Maradona is pretty much saying what we can all see.
The way I think the execs are seeing it is that we have a few months yet (’til our self-imposed deadline of May) to keep our options open. We’ve already spent £10m (£5m a season) on Tevez and have reaped fantastic rewards from him. We agreed with MSI that if we took up the option to buy permanently, we’d pay a further £22m, so to renegotiate at this point simply wouldn’t fly and I’m sure MSI would’ve pulled the plug by now if they’d sensed we were trying to do that.
The thing is, we’d be completely within our rights to say “Thanks for everything Carlito, but we’re calling it a day” come May, but as has been mentioned, who do we replace him with? Benzema? Even if we agreed a £20m fee, that’s only £2m less, and for what? Tevez is already a proven goalscorer who’s already settled and has a good working partnership with at least one of the other strikers.
Like I say, we’re keeping our options open (as is our right) but I fully expect, when push comes to shove, for us to buy him permanently.
what wit ronnie probably on his way out this summer or next can the reds really afford to lose both him and tevez? it wouldn’t be a great move, plus if we get a gillion quid for ronaldo (if papers are anything to go buy) we could buy tevez three times over!
Let Tevez go, get Owen in for nothing except a huge signing on fee. that’d give us the option of playing Berba / Rooney, Rooney / Owen, and Berba / Owen.
The problem with Tevez is that, for all his industry and ability, he doesnt represent a brilliant goal threat. I know he scored a few last year, 19 if memory serves, but a lot of the time Ronaldo was the one poaching goals in the box, not Tevez or Rooney.
Huntelaar would’ve been a better option, but Owen for nothing would be an excellent bit of business.
Owen is a Dipper, injury prone and not a United player, Carlos isn’t a Dipper, never injured and is United through and through.
We need to keep Carlos at all costs, but just neg the price down.
just watch. tevez will be signed and fergie will have his perfect team with tosic joinig the midfield so we have strikers who won’t have to drift wide. they have not signed him fully because the contract allows them to have total control until may. if the contract had stated that he can leave in january if we dont sign him, then man united woudl have rolled out the cash.we are simply playing wihin our rights.
OFF POINT: when i saw fergie’s selection against chelsea, i was baffled but after that game, i concluded that i will never question his selection again even if it does not work, although i will feel bad but iw ill not question them. he is a genius and he is the best in his trade.
i am very sure he will be recognised after retiring as the greatest manager ever in english football history.
maradona’s simple, he gave his son-in-law aguero the exact same advice…we can’t have owen…no way…re-negotiate Tevez, £15million should be fine…Tevez is grounded, quality, willing to be benched and fight for the cause…you can’t really put a price on that…and doncobaino- I’m not so sure about Ronnie leaving, he said after receiving FIFA award that he wanted to become part of the history of our great club after denying any agreement with Madrid…Guillem Balague (Liverpool cronie) is a bit thick/biased, only quoted half what Ronnie said and claiming he has made an agreement but it doesn’t sound true….on Balague’s site there are more Liverpool promotions than you can shake a stick at and the self-congratulatory prick’s face is all over the site too, it clearly feeds on advertising and needs sensational stories to keep his hits up…Can we have something on Balague the dipper Scott discrediting him as a football journalist…
davetian: the Owen addition could be a real solution to the “fox in the box”, late/cameo substitution for those situations when UTD are chasing the game. Admittedly, there are not a lot of those situations and, ideally, what would be preferable would be a big, bruiser like Duncan Ferguson or the Czech, Jan Koller, but Owen COULD be a very useful addition to this team if he accepted this role. Otherwise, forget-about-it.
Could you see Fergie signing someone like Koller or Ferguson?
To a degree we have that type in Manucho.
While not pleased he shared this opinion it is his right and one of his chief concerns as Argentina manager. He needs to see Tevez play and Tevez needs to continue to get games. The problem with his suggestion is Inter have plenty of talent in the area of a striker that who is to say his playing time would improve greatly?
Fergie needs to find more time and chances to use him but in his defense he was not to convincing against Derby and has not showed any real consistency of form when he has played. I love Tevez and I can not emphasis enough the need for us to sign him and rotate our front men more, but he has to earn more playing time. If his play in practice doesn’t warrant starting over Berba then it is hard to argue with Fergie. In Fergie I will trust but I hope there is a plan to sign him. If not it is not the end of the world as we have Berba and Rooney and can bring back Campbell we should be alright. I hope we could use the no room for wages to bring in a new left winger and maybe another defender. Regardless I hope he stays and we still do those things I just suggested b/c he is an absolute outstanding player and would hate to see him leave. I also want to say thank you for the magnificent United fans that gave him such an outstanding ovation during the game on Sunday.
what a shame. are you saying you prefer owen to carlitos? tevez is worth every penny and i am very sure we will get him.
Olusanjo – I’ve always been a huge fan of Carlitos since he lit up BA when he played with Boca Juniors. I know the word is overused but he is a warrior. BUT he does seem to be surplus-to-requirements for this UTD team.
I wouldn’t blame Carlitos for deciding that his future lies elsewhere; he wants to play regularly and it is becoming increasingly clear that he won’t do this as long as SAF works to integrate Berbatov with Rooney and Ronaldo as his first-choice strike force.
About Fraizer Campbell – he couldn’t get games ahead of Darren Bent and now he’s behind Jermaine Defoe in ‘arry’s pecking order. I think he’ll be bigged-up and sold off in the summer; his role as TheNextThing has been taken by Welbeck. Danny is bigger than Fraizer and that’s a significant difference – plus, he has a nose for goal which is a priceless attribute for a center forward.
About Mikey Owen – he’s not as good a player as Carlitos BUT he does have that nose-for-goal; when he’s healthy, he scores regularly – and he scores with his feet and with his head. Basically, he’s the same kind of player as Fillippo Inzaghi, Ole-Gunnar Skolsjaer, and (at a much lower lever) Kevin Phillips – these guys all score goals regularly.
The problem, of course, is that Mikey Owen rarely enjoys a run of health to permit him to play full games. He’s a luxury player now; but in the summer he will be “a free luxury player”, which is something of a contradiction in terms but I think you can get the drift.
It’s unlikely that Mikey would accept a secondary role because his sense of self-importance is even larger than his bank balance. But he might just come to the realization that his best chance of finishing his career in that blaze of glory that surrounded his entry onto the big stage would be to accept a role more in keeping with his current – and future – playing abilities. There’s no question in my mind that IF he was drafted into SAF’s “new UTD” as a role player, he would thrive. Plus – and this really rubs me the wrong way – that might be the only way that Fabio Capello would consider him for an Ingerland recall. (ditto for Beckham, who is just whoring himself at Milan in the hope of getting back into Capello’s plans)
The only problem/thing that matters with Michael Owen is that he is a Liverpool fan who played for them for several years….can’t ever play for United, won’t and wouldn’t be allowed to happen
He’s actually a Everton fan. And I think with United’s staff his fitness could be managed a lot better. United do need that fox-in-the-box type of player, and Owen fits the bill perfectly. He’s never won the premiership, and has flirted with United before when he went to Newcastle. I’m nearly positive Tevez will leave, Fergie’s selections say that. So Owen, at this stage of his career and on a free, and would be a perfect option. I really think it might happen, and the squad will be far better if it did.
Fergie will not sign Owen mate, also “And I think with United’s staff his fitness could be managed a lot better.”
We suffered with Saha and also with Hargreaves, I can’t see us making the same mistake again.
owen is a dirty scouser, playing for United? FUCK THAT
I cant believe some people dont want to sign Tevez, he clearly loves the club and us supporters. If he leaves you will all regret it when we dont have another player thats like Rooney; hardworking loyal and passionate. Tevez scored loads of important goals last season and also a couple this season show some loyalty you ungrateful bastards, he’s a great player and we should all be thankful that he is here and wants to stay.
ARGENTINA!
I assume Red-Manc doesnt want Rooney playing for United, seeing as he’s a scouser Everton fan also? Pesonally I dont give a shit that he played for Liverpool, he ould improve our squad and give us more options. He’ll be 29 in the summer, available on a free, has got a 1 in 2 goalscoring record, and has played over 400 career games so he’s not THAT injury prone, and is exactly the kind of player we need. Get him signed up SAF!!!
And for the record I would like him to stay, but I also think we need to get a player like Owen in and, if that’s at the expense of Tevez, so be it. I think the money we’ve spent on Tosic and Ljajic says that he’s not planning on spunking a lot on Tevez in the summer.
scouser means liverpool player or fan, you know that…You can’t have Owen playing for United, he wouldn’t do it and nor would United…Liverpoool fans still idolise him so how would it be a good move for him to go to United and alienate all that support, he wouldn’t be able to go out in Liverpool ever again if he came to us…you might not give a shit Dave but most United fans do..Carragher was a diehard everton fan too in his youth (away games, the lot), it’s quickly lost after you play for their fierce rival for a number of years as he now testifies and Owen will clearly still follow Liverpool…therefore, he can’t come to United…plus as Steve says it’s also too much of a risk with the injuries
Owen? In a word – NO!
Davetian, like you said he was a EVERTON fan completely different also he’s once a blue always a red converted Mancunian. i’d never want any liverpool player to ever wear the United shirt, like someone pointed out the scousers still love him and he’s still rather fond of them he can get to fuck with ever coming to Old Trafford.
He wouldnt improve out squad at all, he’s a decent player but a predictable one not good enough to get into the first team he would mess up our style of play and why sign him if we have Rooney, Berbatov and hopefully Tevez and not to mention a young promising local youth Welbeck why shun him for a aging ex dipper?
I really wonder sometimes if people know any of the traditions and beliefs of this club, wanting a fucking ex liverpool player ffs
Owen is injury prone. Would anyone in their right mind consider buying back Saha (after all his injuries) ? I really want Ferguson to sign Tevez, but all indications are that he is on the way out. Tevez will be Ferguson’s 2nd Jaap Stam.
On a different note there is one player I would take from Newcastle. Shay Given.
RedManc. Fucking spot on mate, never ever let an ex dipper play for us Fuck that for a laugh….just imagine the easy pickins in our trophy room…. all them silver cups and that…. be far too tempting for a scouser……
haha TonyBee yeah thats another thing i forgot there thieving vermin aswell.
Ferguson has been after Benzema for the last 3 or 4 years and now that he has fallen out with Lyon, you can bet he’ll be wearing the world famous red shirt emblazoned with AIG next season. Carlos will be wearing the all white of the merangues or the stripes of TNSSO’s Inter. He will NOT be wearing the insipid pale blue of citeh because, like Blackburn did with not selling Shearer to United (turned United down twice and won fuck all – HUGE mistake Al), United will not sell Tevez to Hughseys mob even for all the tea…..oil in the middle east (well maybe ALL the oil LOL!
I fully appreciate what your saying about him being an ex-liverpool player, and i’m not saying i wanna suck him off or anything, i’m saying he would give us an option that we currently dont have, thus he would improve the squad. Does that logic not add up for you? And the reason we wont sign Tevez is because he’s too similiar to Rooney, and Wayne’s going nowhere. It’s not a slight on his ability, it’s because he’s essetially a worse Wayne Rooney.
They proved last season even though they are similar players (Rooney & Tevez) that the strike partnership works wonders.
We win the League and the Champions league but our squad needs improving? Nah mate, saying that Berbatov is here now and gives us another option up front, in my opinion signing Owen is a step backwards not just because he’s a ex dipper just because of the type of striker he is.
Also with Fergie retiring soon well hopefully its a couple of years yet he is signing alot of young players who by the time he is leaving will be top class, signing a striker who is injury prone and nearly 30 isnt good for the future.
If anything we need another world class winger/midfielder for when the legends that are Scholes and Giggs retire.
“not saying i wanna suck him off or anything” haha dont worry mate that never crossed my mind that you would ever think of doing that.
Red-Manc. If Tosic at 21 develops in the same way as Ronnie has, we will undoubtedly have the world class player to replace the retiring Welsh legend. Yet ANOTHER world class player born at the United School of World Class Players Inc. I’m dreading the day SAF hangs up his mortar-board for the last time. Although unfair on Kathy, I hope he decides to carry on until he goes the way of Jock Stein and Tommy Cooper, but in about 15 or more years from now.
Red-Manc, I take my hat off to you! Thank fuck someone is bigging up the wee man. I’m sick to death of reading on various sites so-called united fans saying to get rid of Tev.
I don’t see a problem with his fee to be honest, given the fact that he’s only 24 and if we sign him up for 4 or 5 years we’ll be able to enjoy him during his prime.
Hopefully the whole thing can be sorted out soon, as there’s no doubt it’s been a cloud hanging over him.
Players who show loyalty to the club should get the same back.
ARGENTINA!!!
agreed Tevez legend in the making
Owen wanker
ARGENTINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
