Jesse Lingard scored Manchester United’s second in our 2-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park as his great form continues.

In the league this season, Lingard has made a total of 18 appearances but just nine of those have been starts. Regardless, he’s scored seven goals and assisted a further four, working out at a goal or assist every 84 minutes on the pitch.

For comparison, Leroy Sane has six goals and eight assists, which is one per 92 minutes. David Silva has five goals and eight assists, which is one per 117 minutes. Kevin De Bruyne has six goals and nine assists, which is one per 120 minutes. Riyad Mahrez has seven goals and seven assists, which is one per 126 minutes. Mesut Ozil has four goals and five assists, which is one per 152 minutes. Dele Alli has 4 goals and six assists, which is one per 157 minutes. Finally, Eden Hazard has five goals and two assists, which is one per 160 minutes.

Following the victory over Everton, Jose Mourinho has sung the praises of Lingard, who is proving his worth.

These boys – they either jump or they don’t jump. It’s one thing to be a young talent, and another thing is to be a very good player. Some players are not capable to do that jump. They go from great potential young players to normal players. I think Jesse is making that jump. He is being more consistent, he is adaptable, he understands better the game, he understands the different spaces and positions. I think he is going in a good direction.

Lingard claims that he has a goal target in mind for the season which he hasn’t reached yet but isn’t willing to share what that is yet.

I have still got a target in mind and I’m working towards that. I just want to assist and score goals to help the team – it’s good for me and that’s my aim. It’s secret! But I’m working towards it and I’ll keep working hard to help the team. It’s always good for us to score as attacking players and to help the team get the three points. I’m pushing myself and trying to get as many goals as possible this season to help the team to win games.
