You can tell how uneventful Manchester United’s 0-0 draw against Liverpool was by judging the overreaction to an incident involving Romelu Lukaku and Dejan Lovren.

Lukaku caught Lovren with his boot when off balance but it was clear the striker didn’t mean it. However, after the game, Lovren claimed that Lukaku meant it.

I made a tackle there and I just felt he was over me and could just move away. To be honest, my point of view is that he did on purpose. Normally you would apologise after that, but I saw that he was nervous during the game. I think maybe that was also the reason. It’s over and I cannot change it and nobody can change it. It is what it is.

The FA have confirmed they will take no further action and Jose Mourinho has given his thoughts on the incident.

You know, I read something but there is a big contradiction there because he says let’s move on and forget what happened, but then he spends 10 minutes speaking about what he thinks happened and didn’t happen. So, for me, (they are) words without any meaning. The FA committee is there to analyse and make decisions, so no comment.
