Jamie Carragher grows on me more and more all the time. First, he was repeatedly declaring his love for Sir Alex Ferguson, calling him ‘the master’. He also admitted following all our victories over them over the past decade or so that we were worthy winners. He’s claimed he’s embarrassed over Liverpool’s lack of success and has total respect for United for everything we’ve won. Not bad going for a scouser.
Carragher has again acknowledged United’s title success, claiming ten over the past sixteen years, as we look set to equal their record of eighteen.
“It`s something Manchester United have done a lot in the past to win titles and you’ve got to take your hat off to them because they’ve done it over the years and this season as well,” said Carragher. “It’s something we’ve not been too good at in recent years but we seem to have it in our locker this season and hopefully that will push us as close to the title as possible.”

Went on dippers site last night for a chuckle and they were all saying how Carrick had the worst game for ingerlund and how Gerrard should be playing when fit. From what I saw of the debacle last night the whole team was shite and Michael had his hands full with Iniesta and Xavi as Barry does not cover or hold particularly effectively. Always out of position! In my opinion Hargreaves is the best for that “holding “role.

I’m one of Carrick’s biggest fans and think he’s the key reason for our success over the last couple of years but it was a bit of a nightmare for him last night…too much pressure from the Spanish and not enough options for him from the rest of the team…the two centre-backs whenever receiving the ball would invariably just panic and smash it up the pitch so they weren’t options, downing rarely got in any available position and the two up front can’t deal with the pace of his passes like Berbatov and co. can for us so it made him look average which we all know he is not…all the Portsmouth England players shouldn’t have played, they lack any confidence (Crouch) or are just fuckin atrocious (James and Johnson)..Downing? Was ashley young injured? Agbonlahor? Heskey instead of Cole? Jagielka instead of Upson?…Capello made some poor decisions amongst some of those…Ashley Cole looked a shadow of the player he was…Lampard played well to my amazement, as did Beckham…the whole thing was a bit mystifying as i felt myself getting angry and careing last night…think I care about England when it’s against a proper team like Spain

As for Carrick, I hope they slate him so much he never plays for Ing-er-lund again. Capello isn’t that stupid though, so unfortunately we’re going to have to keep on praying he doesn’t get injured in pointless matches like the one last night. I feared for him when that scouse cunt Alonso went in studs up. Shades of the deafeat at Anfield all over again.
I have to say, I’m glad Carrick is getting slated for his performance. That he was left exposed by an awful performance by Enlgand, and was against one of the strongest midfields in the world does not matter. What matters is that he is phenomenal in the only shirt that matters and has been one of our best players this season (probably second to Vida imo). If he gets dropped from the England set-up then it’s to our benefit so let them! Unfortunately of course, regardless of what the fans are, Capello is not a moron, and especially with his Italian roots, is likely to appreciate quite how good Carrick is.
