Manchester United put in a huge bid for Thomas Muller this summer but club president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told the press that their striker would never. He also told Ed Woodward to stop e-mailing him offers.

Muller has revealed he liked the faith Rummenigge showed in him but concedes that you never know what will happen in football.

I heard what Rummenigge said and it’s nice for me to hear it. There are never any guarantees in football but I do have a four-year contract and when I go on the pitch and hear fans shout my name, that’s something special. The club, as Rummenigge showed, denied it straight away, so it’s not up for discussion.

Louis van Gaal gave Muller his debut at Bayern Munich and told the press that the striker was a player that would always play. He has shown a similar faith in Wayne Rooney this season, despite his poor form. Muller has revealed that Van Gaal won’t be changing his mind any time soon on a player he believes in.

If he’s convinced about the quality of a player then he’ll take the risk and try it with that player regardless of what the media or anybody else says. If he is convinced about something he will stick to his guns.
