Gary Neville has signed a year long contract extension, like Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs have done already, to see him play in United’s first team for a 19th year.

Neville had planned to get in to Sir Alex Ferguson’s good books by planning his testimonial against Rangers. However, police have told them this won’t be possible after the behaviour of Rangers fans last time they were in Manchester. Celtic have since been asked but have informed the club they can’t fit the game in to their summer schedule.

United are waiting to see if we are to play in the Community Shield this summer before finalising any plans.
