Everton captain and former red, Phil Neville, has today spoken about the recent war of words between Sir Alex Ferguson and Rafael Benitez. Whilst enjoying the battle, Neville recognises Benitez is not up to outsmarting Ferguson.
“I think these things are absolutely brilliant for football – it’s what sets our league apart from any other league in the world,” said Neville. “You don’t see Spanish La Liga managers doing things like that. It’s fantastic viewing from the outside and it’s going to be a fantastic end to the season, I’m sure. I don’t think you can beat Sir Alex at mind games. Experience is a great thing and when you’re going for titles you need experience and he’s the king.”

Man Utd News 24/7

errr… it happens in every league mate
Philip Neville is a RED!
Phil Neville a Man Utd top under that Everton top!
I’m still grateful for him scoring that own goal when we are 2-0 down at Goodison Park.
He is a proper Red Devil!
Brilliant stuff, ex-but-always-red-now-a-blue-scouser sticking the knife right in FSW’s side. Give it a twist, Phil!!
Benítez (and his team by proxy) just made to look so foolish by this whole affair. Stupid bin dipping twats trying to mix it with the big boys … and inevitably learning the hard way.
Loving this title race, haven’t had such good banter for ages, would equally love for them to completely collapse under the pressure and fall away, OR perhaps even better, push it right to the end and suffer the same heartache as the rent boys did last year.
Needless to say, them winning it this year doesn’t even bear thinking about.
” He’s cracking up, he’s cracking up, he’s cracking, Rafa’s cracking up!”
i love neville for that own goal and allowing reyes play for only 15mins in that game before reyes wa ssubbed at half time (anyone remembers?)
Well said, Phil … FSW : If he had a brain he’d be dangerous !
i missed it wot did saf say to Benetez to winthe mind game?
I wonder what the reaction would have been from the media, if it had been Rafa not Ferguson that said, “we’re going to send our own man next time they do the fixtures”.
The media have their agenda and so does everyone else..
With David Gill on the FA, and United also now having a representative on the Fixtures committee, is it getting to the point of United are tip toeing themselves into a future investigation in the same manner that saw Juventus stripped of Seria A titles!?
Yes Matthew it is and don’t forget Hughes at City, Bruce at Wigan, Saha, Howard and Neville at Everton, Butt and Smith at Newcastle, Wilkins at Chelsea…not to mention the fact United have won two titles in a row…hmmm…..very suspicious…and that they’ve won 10 in 16 years….well done Matthew Holmes, you’ve nearly uncovered the burgeoning conspiracy, just a little bit further and you will find the truth….. which is that two man teams don’t win Premierships…especially when those men start publically disagreeing with their half-witted manager. better luck next time
well said jake…typicall dipping….coming out with rubbish…pardon the pun ha ha
