New Contract For Valencia

Antonio Valencia, who had two years remaining on his current deal at United, has agreed to sign what is believed to be a new five year contract with the club.

“We are in the process of finalising that,” said Gill. “Antonio has been away at the Copa America and we’ve been away here in the US, but that’s broadly sorted out. That should be announced next week, when we’re back. Antonio initially signed for four years, so he’s got two left. The length of the deal will come out as and when, but it’s a longer-term deal.”

Different slant from the Telegraph, on our pursuit of CM.

Great news on all the new deals.

That’s Tony v, Park and Hernandez tied down now.

Hopefully the Berb will follow suit.

  5. rooney LEGEND says:

Tony V is an android!! Not programmed to smile after scoring.

  6. Costas says:

The wings are set for the next 10 years.

Congratulations Tony V! Well done lad, absolutely deserved!

  8. Balaji Sivaraman says:

@Costas, I think the squad as a whole is set for the next 10 years. IF some of the Youth Cup lads step up like everyone expects them to, then I can’t see any holes in our squad to be honest. IF, and that is a big IF, this is going to the master’s last great team, then what a fucking team it is.

On-topic, good on Valencia. He is everything I like in an old-fashioned player. Not too flashy, shies away from the camera at all times, but once he is on the pitch, his focus rivals that of any other player. Not to mention he made Cashley Cow look a two-bit park footballer which made me love him even more.

    yesshhhh Tony V is staying.

Who would have thought, a Wigan player that barely got noticed in the league was subject to interest from Real and United.
He moves to United and becomes a instant fan favourite and replaces Ronnie aswell as offering something better in his work rate, physical & mental strength and play-making abilities.

Hopefully Young follows Valencia path but on the left side for us. Not that impressed by him but we should see the best of Young, November-December Time when he has had time to adapt to United’s style of play.

    Balaji -
In 10 years time i’ll miss seeing the likes of Scholesy running around pinging balls around, while Giggs at 48 will be tearing defences a new arsehole and Fergie at 79 years telling off the ref and screaming abuse Mike Phelan for Sype’ing him during his 15 match touchline ban.

Willie … yes, once again, the transfer door is closed — but not yet locked.

  13. willierednut says:

StatesideAussie – The term he used, was dead. Doesn’t sound good in all honesty. As we approach the month of August, It’s looking less likely. My feeling now is, if nothing happens in the next 2/3 weeks, we’ll go with what we have. Not ideal, but we’ll have to get on with it. Cross your fingers lol.

  14. Doghouse says:

Tony V is quality. Pure quality. He brings pace, power and skill down the wing by the ton. But what he also brings is character. I loved Ronaldo, but if he wasn’t feeling it, then you had a hole on the wing. And I loved Beckham, but Beckham was an artillery piece, he wouldn’t get the ball to feet and bust some chops. Tony V is there, every blade of grass on his flank is his. And he owns it. And he owns it not by being a scrapper or nipping at players like a little dog as some wingbacks and wingers do, he owns it with power and skill. He’ll enforce on the wings, even against the less mobile, more defence minded wing backs. He is a great physical presence. It makes him great going forward or back. And his crossing? Inch perfect.

He stays healthy for us in the coming season and he’ll be a contender for our player of the season. Don’t doubt it for a second. He’s not earning the acclaim yet, but he’s one of our best players. I think if he has the form of the end of last season for a whole season, then he’ll be mentioned alongside Beckham and Ronaldo. He is that good.

  15. willierednut says:

As Kings pointed out in another thread, Valencia could play in CM, if needed of course. It’s not a foreign position for him, as he’s played in there for his country.
