New Deal For Rafael And Loan Move For Fabio

Rafael and Fabio’s agent, Cassiano Pereira, has been speaking to Estadao ESPN about the twins’ future.

“Rafael is very happy to stay at Manchester United, who are one of the giants of world football and always play in Europe’s biggest competitions,” he said. “Manchester United are the club that opened the door to Europe for him. He is loved, respected and has prestige at the club. We are all very happy that he is renewing his contract.”

Fabio had been linked with a loan move to Benfica but it looks as though he will be following Federico Macheda with a loan move to QPR. Despite offers from the continent, Fabio has sensibly opted to stay in the Premier League.

“Fabio is a promising player and he needs to play. Because of that, Alex Ferguson suggested that he be loaned out to get more experience,” he added. “He is a sought-after player because he is still young, and we think that his transfer to QPR was the best decision at the time. We received some offers from Germany and Portugal, but he preferred to stay in England to remain in touch with the country’s football style and so that he would not have a problem to adapt to it when he returned to United.”

Nice one Rafael. Good luck to you Fabio, see you back at United soon.

  2. genstep says:

great to tir Rafael down and a full season of games for Fabio will do him the world of good. He will be an auto pick for next seasons fantasy football for me now!

  3. PeteyRedRed says:

Seems like we’re definitely going for another LB then….

    also realised i can’t spell!!!

  6. wayne says:

Love both lads just hope both have injury free seasons

  7. samuel - united WE stand says:

I hope rafael will finally start imposing himself by improving massively in certain key areas of his game. Defensively, i still think he’s rash. Needs to be more composed and balance between defending and attacking. He’s talented and if he does the basics right then he’ll a top class full-back. Needs to stay fit for a long period as wel. Hoping to see improvements in his game after all the experience he’s gathered.

  8. bruce thomas says:

Fact is, if Rafael hadn’t been so piss poor at concentrating and postional play at a crtical time against Everton, then we might have finished top. Let’s hope they can both up their game to the required level.

  9. wayne says:

bruce thomas that’s not fair mate through the course of the season every player makes errors, the whole team including Sir Alex thought the game was won,he was joking on the sideline with the 4th official.May as well say if DDG hadn’t been piss poor against Blackburn or if Rooney hadn’t gone on the piss and was suspended, how many goals came from the left this year,Evras positional play and tackling was suspect all season
Isn’t such a thing as a perfect player Rafael if he stays fit will become a world class fullback

  10. KL-red says:

    Spot on Wayne!

  11. WeAreUnited says:

It was funny testerday cause I have always been with England and I’m not even from england.

But this year I haven’t supported them, reason is that it’s more FC Liverpool than england, but still.

I was cheering for Sweden and was quite happy seeing them win. But then suddenly Danny THE Welbeck scored the goal and I was jumping around like it was United that scored hahaha.

It was a funny moment for me :)

  12. WeAreUnited says:

did you have a similar moment?

  13. Costas says:

Happy for Rafa, not so much for Fabio. For one thing, we are down to 2 full backs now who, even when fit, won’t have any real competition. Plus, the Macheda experience should have taught us better. Now wait for QPR to sign 2 left backs this summer..

  14. oNtoN says:

Is there a word on Gaitan transfer from Benfica?

  15. cubs says:

Good for the twins, if Evra got injured a year and a half ago then maybe they both sign. Time to grow as men in a seperate town. Good for both to find their own identity. The Fabio to come home a better player and man. This will help Rafa as well.

  16. cubs says:

People forget these lads of 18 to 22 University age. WTF the condimnation. The judgment, the puratanical damnation of there actions. Shit, fuck man at that age women beer, booze, drugs, party’s American Football to pay for my fun and then classes. Fucking judgmental fuck wads. IMHO!

  17. cubs says:

People who have very little or no real talents of their own. Are spitfull critics of those with talents. Always filled with this is what I would do, who the fuck cares. True RoMer’s read how they express displesure. For those who hate the scouser cunt Rooney. He is our scouser cunt Rooney Got it.

  18. The Left Bank says:

Good luck to Fabio at QPR.

He’s showing good sense to stay in the EPL to gain some game time and get used to the EPL hustle and bustle. I’m sure he’ll come back fired up and challenge for that LB spot. I would love to see both twins take both RB and LB roles and make it their own in years to come.

When we think of other brothers in our history – Greenhoffs, Nevilles etc – it’s nice to see the Da Silva boyz cary on that fine tradition as good servants to the club.

Speaking of which well done Rafael for putting pen to paper.

  19. cubs says:

My PMS is almost over, fucing some people left a million quid by an old Uncle and mad at the taxes. Well that is what these blogs are. Thank god for RoM less wums and cunts then most.

    Left Bank, spot on man.

  21. Bruce says:

Until you come on to have your Rooney wankfest then the cunt population increases by one on here.

  22. cubs says:

Wow SAF and Gill getting the business of business done. Football big entertanment business. Look at the new TV deal. Glazzers to float as an entertainment company! With Asia producing some 500,000,000 new middle class consumers buying TV’S the next 2 TV deals will double again then again!! MUFC SOME 500,000,000 FANS 350,000,000 IN ASIA!!
    1878,JEET, SANDEE ECT.

  23. NotoriousRedDevil says:

Not too happy with sending Fabio out on loan. Especially with what went down with Kiko and Hughes has turned into a right bell end over the last couple of years. Evra got dropped from France yesterday, who’s going to challenge him for the left back role. Evans?

Anyway good luck to Fabio, sensible lad by opting to stay in England. Begrudgingly I’m going to have to watch QPR a lot more next season.

  24. cubs says:

Malysa Dave ect. ect. China, korea, Japan hahaha Come on FFP!

  25. parryheid says:

    Bruce Thomas.
Fact is if we didnt have a goalie that stays on his line vs City and didnt play experimental team’s against the like of Blackburn we would not might have won the league. However I hope Fabio gets played in midfield on his loan spell.

  26. cubs says:

  27. cubs says:

Perry a point in any loss or tie, winners revwien learn aplly lessons and move on.19

  28. cubs says:

Goal diference, a bad Chelski call from 6 PL tittles in a row. That’s why they have won 4 of 6. Not bad. For I am a greedy piggy at time. 6 PL and 3 CL titles are better then 4 PL and 1 CL titles. I’m thrilled with 4/1 but want more.

  29. wayne says:

lol @ Zibbie wasn’t taking a shot at Rooney mate just pointing out every player fucks up through the course of the season,so for bruse thomas to single out one Rafael mistake and blame him for losing the title is fucked up

  30. parryheid says:

    Cubs.

    Having difficulty deciphering two above.

  31. cubs says:

Did Davide Petrucci sign a 3 year deal as well?
With Rooney and Young able to excell in the 10 spot the MF link of Kagawa Tom C and Petrucci to them with Welbeck and Lil Pea along with Tony Nani and Young out wide! Carrick Scholes and TC in the hole.

  32. parryheid says:

    cubs.

    Now Five.

  33. cubs says:

Good Wayne U a great fan and a consistant man. I have said that before. With CR7 I loved him as a player and his peron makes me sick. He was a fucking frustating selfish show pony at times. But he was our selfish ball hogging show pony! Who work his balls off to become great.
Wayne I love your contributions here and lol made you an example of how to bitch in a proper way!.

  34. gaurav12931 says:

Fabio staying in England is bigger news to me than rafael extending his contract,to be fair no one had any doubts about rafael’s contract extension as he is happy playing for man utd anyway, but if Fabio had indeed gone to benfica then i was afraid that there was no way back to united for him and i really like him as a player as he’s young and has got flair.Sure he’s not the most consistent player out there but he’s young and with a season full of matches he’s bound to improve.
Before people start to mention Macheda’s case, lets face it macheda had never proven to be a world class player(that was a special goal though and i’ll never forget it) but fabio’s case is completely different as he’s top notch and the only reason he’s not had enough matches is because Evra is our captain and has been unlucky with injuries,i have no worries about him being the first choice for QPR is he’s fit this season!

  35. cubs says:

    Perry your not alone,
If, if ands and buts were candy and nuts, what a very, merry Christmas we would have.

  36. FletchTHEMAN says:

Cubs; Unless I missed something. Davide Petrucci has not penned a new deal. Fingers crossed.

  37. cubs says:

@Wayne so spot on man. We all are human and fuck up. The English tabloids are fucking cunts. And just think in Spain and Italy it is worse Wtf!

  38. cubs says:

Thanks Fletch a thread or so back someone post an obscure artical from Italy.

  39. FletchTHEMAN says:

@gaurav12931 Spot on son. Fabio staying in England and going to a team where he gets more games is a very positive thing. Don’t know if his future lies with United. But if it does, a team like QPR is much better preparation.

    We will see.

  40. cubs says:

With Kagawa, TC then Petrucci I think at the so called AMFer’s!!

  41. cubs says:

Kagawa a younger Scholes, now for an older style Scholes why he can still mentor them both.

  42. iced earth says:

  47. cubs says:

Fletch, I have been thinking of your name sake as of late. He just signed a just contact and SAF looks after his own. He must be on the roster to earn players $. So he will show before he goes. A real life thing to what can be preseved as robots. I love Fletch my 2nd favorite player.

  51. cubs says:

I love the twins, in this they both win.

  52. FletchTHEMAN says:

Cubs: Brought a tear to the eye mate. Fletcher is the type of player you keep at a club. He would rather shed his last breath in the shirt than just about any other way. Youngsters seeing Giggs, Scholes and Fletcher see what this clubs mean.

There will be a day when Fletcher hangs up his boots. But it is not this day. I just hope he has another season of greatness to show us all what we’ve missed. And to give the sorry arses in the medical unit some small amount of pleasure, deserved or not.

Just to bring it back to your post on Petrucci. Another lad who had a ghastly injury, and is clawing his way back to where he ought to be for his age.

  53. cubs says:

That Blackburn excuse fuck off. Fo real Rooney carried this team to a tie fo fuck sakes. He played mf for 6 fucking games. Fuck off to all to tell Rooney to fuck off with out reason.

For me mate Costas………Come ON Greece!!

  57. Costas says:

  58. cubs says:

    Thanks Fletch.
    GO GREEKS

  59. CedarsDevil says:

    My Dick

Anyone with half a brain will know that Rooney is our most important player…..Anyone arguing that fact need their head examined

  60. keano99 says:

I just got an e-mail from must saying morgan stanley the big u.s investment bank have pulled out of the deal to float us on the stock market due to the glazers unrealistic price? Were just a money making tool for those bastards.

  61. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

Why hasn’t Berba left yet? Surely he should be in demand. £10m would be fantastic for us and probably a bargain for another team.

Park is probably set to stay to help Kagawa adjust to life in England and is a great role model in the squad. Footballing wise he’s maybe 5th choice on the wings and will probably turned into a centre midfielder if we do not spend on one AGAIN.

Bebe will go out on loan again (dodgy agent payment written all over him)
Macheda will either be sold or stay at the club for reserve football and the odd cup game. Wasted season either way if he stays with us.

    Pigba will be sold.
Amos should go out on loan, West Ham need a keeper don’t they? So do West Brom and QPR in my opinion should be in the market for one.

    Bored :P

  62. CedarsDevil says:

Quite nice having two games on at the same time…….Poland and Russia seem to be on top at the minute………

I wonder how wedding Mike is getting on

  63. CedarsDevil says:

Avocado seems like a decent coach, I just hate Arshavin though, not sure why

  64. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

    Cedars
You don’t like Arse Shavings ?
    ;)

I don’t think Bob Lewy is any better than anything we already have at United.
He’s the same age as Hernandez and I don’t rate him any higher than him. His shot variations are better than our boys but like Chicha he can’t dribble with ball for more than 10 yards.

I don’t think we’ll buy a forward anyway, I think the like of Rooney,Welbeck,,Chico – backed by Young and Kagawa – with guys like Powell, Macheda and possibly Berba still lingering around, we’ll probably stay out of the strikers market.

  65. CedarsDevil says:

    Papii

Ha ha ha……..On the strikers front you’re spot on mate, doubt we will sign anyone in that position, in fact I think we’re done with our signings for this summer

  66. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

Am I right in hearing the Czech Republic have a player called “Petr Your a Czech”?

This Jacob Bashycoughski for Poland looks more than decent !
Top 4 quality. I hear they call him “Kuba” at Dortmund, Strange….top winger though !

  67. CedarsDevil says:

Baros still plays?? Ex dipper still around it seems………Whatever happened to that giant the Czechs had upfront? Cannot remember his name for the life of me

  68. keano99 says:

@ cedars his name was koller.

  69. CedarsDevil says:

    keano99

Cheers pal, yep that is the one……..

  70. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

    ~I meant Jakub Błaszczykowski*

    Cedars –
    I fear the same too.

SAF seems to think Patrice is the bee’s knees at the moment  So expect no challenge to our veteran wing back. Glad that France have dropped him, he’s been awful.
We’ll go into the season optimistic about the fitness and health of our midfielders like we do every year and end the last 3 months of next season, most likely with 3 fit midfielders max.

    8) Fletch’s future is clouded, Ando is more mysterious than Rey Mysterio, Cleverley has never stayed fit for a whole season in his career yet (at this age neither was Stevie GBH) Giggs had a bad ending to last season, Park is still AOL.

I just hope we are blessed with the luck of the Irish next season injury wise…things can’t get worse can they? Since 2010 (Rooney ankle) the medics have been poor.

  71. CedarsDevil says:

I bet Costas is a happy chappy right now……….. Come ON

  72. Sandeep1878 says:

    Evening reds around the world,

the one thing i hate, when agents and media write this thing,

May be the website editor and management needs to speed it up..

  73. Sandeep1878 says:

    Costas,

you guys nicked on past the Russians..

    :)

but i think Russia will win this one..

Russia and Poland to go through IMO..

  74. CedarsDevil says:

Half time and the Greeks and Czechs are through………….If it stays like this Greece will play Germany!!

  75. Costas says:

Keep praying for us poor (in more ways than one) Greeks!

  76. united.george says:

    ella ellada!!!

  77. CedarsDevil says:

Or is it Russia and Greece that go through?? This is too confusing

  78. Sandeep1878 says:

‎16 matches played so far and no 0-0 draw in Euro 2012, the longest in tournament’s history.

    ###

Czech Rep.’s first shot didn’t come until the 29th minute, the longest a side has had to wait for a shot at Euro2012.

  79. CedarsDevil says:

    Costas

    Praying all the way mate…..

  80. CedarsDevil says:

    Karagounis……….Fergie, sign him up

  81. Sandeep1878 says:

    Cedars,

this will clear your confusion mate,

    before kick off,

    this is how things stand:

    Russia 4 pts (+3 GD), Czech Rep. 3 pts (-2), Poland 2 pts (0), Greece 1 pnt (-1)

    ###

So if Greece wants to go through then it will have to score 3 more goals without conceding…

If they score 2 more then thier GD with Russia will be Nil..

  82. Sandeep1878 says:

    Cedars,

Yeah mate Karagounis is a Greece legend..

Playing for the 120th time for his country tonight, equaling most capped Greece player

  83. CedarsDevil says:

    Sandy

You’re wrong pal, if the Greeks win by any score then they go through…..

sorry mate, but our other draws and losses throughout the season caused us to lose the title just as much as the everton game did.

  85. dannysoya LOVES SIAN MASSEY says:

Yeah Cedars is right. That opening 4-1 loss was devastating for the czechs. They must avoid defeat to Poland just to make sure.

  86. Sandeep1878 says:

    Cedars,

Mate if i m not wrong,

Greeks will go through by any score if the other game ends as a DRAW…

  87. CedarsDevil says:

    Sandy

Wrong again mate………A win for the Greeks will see them go through, regardless of the other match…..The other result will have implications on Russia and not on Greece

  88. CedarsDevil says:

How was that NOT a penalty?????

  89. dannysoya LOVES SIAN MASSEY says:

OMG Stonewaller denied. Clearly stuck his leg out.

  90. Sandeep1878 says:

Karagounis almost in tears there..very sad

    Cedars,

If Poland or Czech, u sure that Greece will go through with 1 nil win?

now i m the one who is confused :)

  95. united.george says:

I m clear now, yup Greece will go through..

  97. CedarsDevil says:

Yes I am sure, head to head comes into it before GD………As it stands the Greeks are ahead of Russia in the group

  98. Sandeep1878 says:

  99. CedarsDevil says:

The Greeks are defending like gods………Come ON me neighbours

  102. Fred says:

What a turnaround in Group A hahaha! I bet Costas is LOVING this! :D

Good riddance to Poland and Russia.

  103. CedarsDevil says:

Come on you fucking beauties………Got Greek blood in me right now

  104. Fred says:

So much for that twat Lewandowski. He was about as formidable as Emile Heskey.

  105. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

  108. Sandeep1878 says:

    This is the almighty upset..

    Poland out..

on the other hand, i m really happy for Greece and the way in which they played this game :)

    great spirit..gritty..

  109. Utd4life says:

    Congratulations to Greece & Costas.

  110. kev e says:

Wow! Who’d have thought after the first match that Greece and Czech Republic would go through and the Russians are out!!!! Mad!!!

  111. Fred says:

That Karagounis quite a character. Could do a job for us in the centre of the park imo.

  112. MG says:

Good for Greeks I suppose but their football is garbage. Very horrible on the eye. Can’t stand teams like that.

  114. Fred says:

Kev – crazy isn’t it? Everyone was wanking over the Russkis after the first game. What a great tournament this has been so far. 8)

  115. Shebangsthedrums says:

Just had to come on and say well done Greece, Costas must be so very proud.

  116. CedarsDevil says:

Garbage??? They played their hearts out

  117. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

Can somebody explain to me how Greece went through when level with Russia on points? 4-4
Their GD was 0 and Russia’s was +2.

    What am I missing out?

  118. Utd4life says:

Not every team can play like Spain or Germany. You do the best with what you have got and Greece have done amazingly well.

  119. CedarsDevil says:

    Papii

    Head to head mate

  120. Fred says:

Papii – it’s simple, pal. HEAD 2 HEAD. The Greek Gods stuffed the Commie twats 1-0. 8)

  121. Utd4life says:

Clint. Mate, head to head is taken into consideration before GD. Russia might have a better GD but Greece have the better head to head record against Russia.

  122. cubs says:

    We love oue Kebab!

  123. Shebangsthedrums says:

Clint – I think it goes on the head to head and obviously Greece beat Russia.

  124. Costas says:

Thanks everyone. :D I can confirm that wasn’t me with the Greek flag at the ground though.

I said this back when the draw was made. This was the least interesting group for the neutrals, but it was also fairly balanced. There wasn’t going to be a lot between the teams. Like Fred said though, I do admit that I couldn’t see Russia bottling it after the first game. Amazing stuff.

Now a Germany-Greece game should stir up a lot of controversy. ;)

  125. CedarsDevil says:

This feels like a UNITED win

  126. Costas says:

I forgot to say, kebabs on the house. ;)

    @Cedars

Nah, I see what he means. Football like this is never pretty on the eye. But at the end of the day, you have to play to your strengths. If Greece played more openly, Russia would have been out of sight at half time.

  127. cubs says:

HEAD TO HEAD, sounds like a gay porn title. Not that there is anything wrong with that.!?!.

  128. Fred says:

Utd4Life – spot on, mah fwend. I’m reminded of the exchange between Mark Hughes and Francesc Fabregas after the Welshman’s Blackburn side had just kicked Cesc and his Gunners off the park.

Fabregas: You played for Barcelona? That’s not Barcelona football.
Hughes: (Shrugs) I don’t have Barcelona players.

Well fucking said, Sparky. Well fucking said.

  129. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

wow thats the first I’ve heard of head to head over GD and I’ve watched Football for nearly 2 decades
    Thanks !
Bring that to the premier league !

But would we have won the league on Head to Head instead of GD?

    :P No….Fuck !

  130. Sandeep1878 says:

    Orez,

did you watch the game or are you a Greece hater?

Russia went to sleep because they topped the table before the kick off,

Greece had other plans and they executed well..

determination, spirit and more will to win was what Greece in this game..

  131. Cyril Sneer says:

Just want to point out Greece have lost one game in the last 24 played.

Bear in mind the game they lost the other day had a goal wrongly disallowed (which would have been the equaliser) and a penalty not given today either.

Not bad for a team that play ‘garbage football’ eh?

  132. Sandeep1878 says:

Is it 2004 all over again? :)

as i have been telling, i would want an underdog team to win this one…

  133. CedarsDevil says:

Garbage my ass………Well done Greece, I am so fucking excited

  134. cubs says:

    A United win:-);-)

  135. Sandeep1878 says:

    a team like,

    Croatia,
    Greece
    England :)

  136. Costas says:

Head to head is the main criteria for almost every competition guys. I may be wrong, but I believe that only the Premiership puts the GD ahead. It’s good in a way because it helps make the competition more exciting, but imo head to head should come first.

    @cubs

That does sound like a gay porn flick.

  137. Sandeep1878 says:

The Czechs won their first game in Euro ’08 and went out, ironically, they lost the first game this time and are through.

Football, funny game, depends from on which side your are :)

  138. cubs says:

Orze bite me. Heart curage a ferice spirt!!

  139. Sandeep1878 says:

    Zibster,

are you typing and at the same time fishing? :)

  140. Sandeep1878 says:

    Costas,

    Congrats mate :)

  141. CedarsDevil says:

    Fred

    He’s a god of sorts

  142. cubs says:

Well drunk high and no spell check. An English majors nightmare. :-)

  143. Fred says:

Don’t let the party stop, fellas. 8)

  144. Manutdheartattack says:

Anyone seen Gebreselassie for the czech’s? Would say good cover for Rafael

  145. CedarsDevil says:

This party ain’t stopping………….Greece all the way

  146. Sandeep1878 says:

    Agent of Fergie,

indeed Ninis is a very good player,

but the problem is that he went through a major injury, its hard to come back and play after that injury, but he has done it..

  147. MG says:

    SAF was always right

    Austerity measures  Rich boys

    Goodnight Manchester United

    19

  148. Sandeep1878 says:

    Manutdheartattack

we have a cover for Rafael..

and he is the beast Valencia ;)

    Fred,

    wasup pal..how are you?

    Cedars,

    I m with you..

added bonus of Czech going through is, we can see those lovely babes for longer time now :) :P

  149. Sandeep1878 says:

    Night MG

and Sir Alex is always right :)

  150. Fred says:

Let’s relive that winning goal by Karagounis

    http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xrkp5h_greece-1-0-russia-euro-2012-group-a_sport

I’ll never tire of watching this. 8)

  151. Costas says:

The Greek team has some equivalents to what United need. A midfielder running all over the place like Karagounis. And a striker with Salpingidis’ work rate. These players themselves (and even Ninis) couldn’t make the leap to United’s level. Imo the only Greek that could play at United is Papadopoulos the defender. 20 and improving all the time.

Ninis is off to Parma by the way. Lets see how he does there.

    @MG

Not sure about austerity measures, but today (and yesterday) proved that sometimes you have to bench your left back when he’s in bad form. Fergie take note. :D

  152. CedarsDevil says:

    Fred

    Nor will I mate

  153. Sandeep1878 says:

  155. Fred says:

  158. JC says:

Unrealistic valuation my ass, they backed Facebook at $38+ a share for fucks sake…

  159. Fred says:

JC – I wouldn’t put a “pump and dump” past the Glaziers tbh…

  160. Costas says:

    @Fletch

Thanks mate. I have even more white hair as of tonight, but it was worth it. :D

  161. united.george says:

Great win by greece..shame about karagounis missing the next match though. Can’t he appeal it or something?

  162. Busby babes says:

reports speculating fryers set to join spurs?

  163. Fred says:

    Costas Nikopolidis ;)

  164. Costas says:

Actually someone told me last week that I look like Nikopolidis.

The link about the Fryers news:

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-teenager-ezekiel-fryers-887148

Ugh, why don’t we keep the boy around? It will cost us a lot more to get a new left back. And we will need one soon.

    @united.george

Nah, I doubt anything can change. Uefa never erase any cards anyway. Maybe it was a penalty and maybe it wasn’t. But it wasn’t a dive. What’s even worse? A few minutes later Jerkoff clearly dives, the referee sees it but doesn’t book him…

  165. Fred says:

BB – if true, Zeki is one dumb cunt and I’ll enjoy waching his imminent slide down the English league system.

  166. Busby babes says:

fred agree m8 to be honest i read about spurs intrest a while back, did’nt beleive it had much substance at the time, i suppose time will tell. qite liked the look of jetro williams but since the euro’s i find his postional play is poor, in saying that he’s s young lad.

  167. Sandeep1878 says:

I would want Zeki to stick with us..

he has been with us since school days along with Jessi, tom and 2 keanos..I would want them here, they were born in Manchester and i hope they will end their Career in Manchester..

the lads have bright future, patience is key.

    Good night reds..

Good night Costas and i m happy for you and the whole of Greece and Karagounis is a legend!!

  168. Fred says:

BB – a few years from now it will dawn on Zeki, Ravel and Pogba how lucky they were to be at United. When you leave United, the only way is down. I think even Becks, Ruud and one day Ronaldo will attest to that.

  169. Sandeep1878 says:

    Cheers Fred,

    tomorrow!!

    Good night reds..

    keep it UNITED

  170. Costas says:

    @Sandeep

Thanks a lot mate. I appreciate it. Have a great night. :)

  171. Fred says:

It sounds like Sandeep is giving his backing to the Karagounis-to-United movement. 8) #BELIEVE

  172. Busby babes says:

fred i think history supports your claim m8, not many who have seeked pastures new go on to bigger and better things.

  173. samuel - united WE stand says:

it’s bad for football when hopeless teams like greece manage to get through. They have bambi aka samaras up front and i just can’t describe how appalling he is. They should be commended for their resilience and fight but i wanna see actual quality. Never say never but i expect the efficient ruthlessly clinical germans to dispatch them. No repeat of euro 2004, that was a footballing travesty.

  174. Fred says:

Neither Russia nor Poland was more deserving of a quarter-final place. End of story.

  175. samuel - united WE stand says:

I see one quality potential amongst their ranks though. papadoupolous who plays for greece, has all the attributes to play in the premier league. He’s like A young nemanja vidic

Secondly, who cares about fryers. If he wants to leave then au revior, fabio will be sent out on loan, he’ll hopefully return stronger and with experience to dislodge patrice. Tyler blackett in the academy team will step up faster than many imagine, better prospect.

  176. samuel - united WE stand says:

Russia is superior technically. Greece fluked yet another victory. Yes russia didn’t show enough and can only blame themselves for being knocked out but any genuine football observer would acknowledge that greece progressing further in this competition will be at the detriment of the competition. Awful team that possesses fight but i’m not really wanting to watch a mud wrestling, i’m wanting to watch good football and greece are a planet or two further from that.

  177. Hans says:

After they threw the match in injury time in Wastelands, we should never loan players to QPR!!!!

  178. wayne says:

Just got back from the pub had the Greece game on the big screen it’s huge about 30ft,fucking awesome, also got to wind up about 30 Polish, don’t even want England to win fuck all but showed up in my Utd shirt and a England cap i knew the place would be filled with Russians and Polish.
Only negative dropped about $200 on the horses but half pissed so overall a good day

  179. cubs says:

Fun Wayne. Greek tragidy that people do not see the beauty of the Greek win. Poor poor slighted view thinking a step over U tube freak is better then Rooney. A shame. Frieworks compared to Claymore minds.

  180. cubs says:

    Fuck the baby sitter fucks.

  181. cubs says:

I hope you guys can back up a trailor, change your oil. Do you toil in the manley arts. Can you dry wall, or around real men U feel small. Are U man scaped, or manGinaed? Can you tuna a fish or a Car? Or both? Use a hammer or be hammered? Manbitch or bewitched? Make a decision and man up. Can you be beat in a fight with Bitch Slaps? Have U tasted your own blood andcrumbled? Then fuck off MANGINAS! Fear of failure trumps man of action? Witch are you? A LACTATING MAN NIPPLE? Or what?

  182. wayne says:

I agree Zibbie Greece deserve something to cheer about, rest of the comment over my head mate

  183. wayne says:

I should also point out i’m proud to be English but will never support a team the cunt is involved in,i think he’s a disqusting vile human being, the only good thing about Chelsea winning the CL was cunt wasn’t involved

  184. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

    wayne

I like this point you make, one of the many reasons im disillusioned with supporting England and why I support other countries that make a minority of my heritage too.

    Ireland to beat Italy 1-1, I got a feeling ! :D

  185. noragchick says:

Get in. The lad is woeful.

  186. Peter says:

2 racist nations out. Football karma!!!

  187. Corea says:

That’s what separates professionals and the ones who want to play for the club. As for Kiko, learn from intelligent Fabio.

  188. Ash says:

Congrats costas. But honestly speaking I don’t like the way greece plays. They are the most defensive side I have ever seen.
Like samuel said i don’t want them to progress beyond Qf. Russia are stupid in not qualifying. But I have to say this has been a great tournament so far. Love it.

The QF line up could be like this

Czech V. Portugal/Holland (I will go for Portugal)

    Germany V. Greece

Spain V. England ( Imagine if england knocks spain out  )

France v. Italy/Croatia ( I will go for italy but this tournament has been the most unpredictable)

It is a good line up. Germany -Russia would have been great but Its ok. I am happy for greece as a country. They needed it. Good work. :)

  189. samuel - united WE stand says:

Two racist nations? i hope you’re adding all european countries entirely as a flag bearer of discriminating as wel? karma my ass.

  190. samuel - united WE stand says:

I keep reading ‘i hope we made greece smile’ ‘this will lift the country’s spirit’ – what a load of crap, it’s a football match and nothing more, it won’t change anything or bring an upturn in fortune for greece’s economy. It’s a shame russia didn’t step up, i hate nothing more than a false romantic crap about greece as a country somehow deserving of a lift. Couldn’t care less, a lot of people around the world in a much difficult state deserve a lift.

  191. Costas says:

    @Ash

It’s ok mate. I don’t expect anyone else to appreciate the manner of the win. For me it’s simple really. If Greece played differently, they would have been on the plane back to Athens this morning. Hell, the team wouldn’t have even reached the final stages of the Euro. So yeah, I’d happily take boring 1-0 wins every day.

Did the most technical team out of the 2 advance? No. But the one with the bigger set of balls did. And that wasn’t “another fluke”. Some should start having a better grasp of what football is all about.

  192. samuel - united WE stand says:

It’s like england ever winning any major tournament. they’ll probably stop the clock and make countless inspirational videos, making john terry look like a gladiator when clearly, all he will ever be is a socks wearing up to the knees, classless, egotistical ponce-cunt. They’ll make stevenGBH look like captain nelson when all he will ever be is a self loving arrogant THUG who feels battering a Dj is just a ‘misunderstanding’. Parker will be made out to be franz beckenbeaur when clearly he is the slightly better version of a drugged up lee cattermole. Carroll will be made out to look like marco van basten, that header will probably be the only decent thing he does and they’ll continue to play it on tv with a ‘take that’ song in the background. It would be never ending. Pathetic!

  193. Ash says:

    Samuel

So you say greece going through the next round won’t bring happiness to their people? I can’t understand your logic when you say that. Yeah I agree with you that Russia were more deserving and should have gone through but Yesterday’s victory would have meant lot for their country.

Don’t you feel happy when your country win something or if our club wins doesn’t that bring smile in your face.

  194. Ash says:

    Costas

I agree at the end it is the result which matters. As a football fan I would like to see entertaining football which greece fails to do. But I can’t see them beating germany in the knock outs. But never say never. :)

  195. jeet says:

@samuel: cynicism is in fashion eh? In 1911, an indian club beat an english army team to become the first indian club to lift the ifa shield. What was even more amazing was the fact that the indian players played barefoot against the ‘goras’. This captured the imagination of the country, fired the national pride, and gave the nation confidence that they could be better than their colonial masters and indeed overthrow them. Throughout the history of the game you will find many such examples. Football is just not about skills, technique and strategy mate, its much much bigger than that, and has the power to help people gain courage over adversity, faith over tragedy. Indeed, that is what also defines the history of United in part. As for many other people in more dire situations, why of course you are right, but why should it stop us from wishing the Greeks any small cheer they can get in these troubled times?

  196. Andooo says:

Absolutely fantastic news. Great to see Fergie rewarding Rafael for his massive strides forward last season. I don’t think anyone can name a better right back for his age in world football and you get the feeling he ain’t no where near what he could potentially be, exciting times.

On his brother, the fact that he wants to stay in England to better improve his chances of coming back to United and make the LB role his own is a promising sign of these 2 guys love for the club (i hope; having been poached at such a young age they are real united fans, Rafael certainly plays like it means a lot to him) but it wouldnt suprise me if QPR played him in midfield as he would be alot better than most players they have going forward. Game time is game time though so shouldn’t matter too much.

Overall a very happy red. Have a good day folks.

  197. Ash says:

    Fred

Russia played more entertaining football than greece. So I don’t know how you say they don’t deserve to go to next round. Yeah they Lost to greece but they were more entertaining than every team in their group. Russia would have been more entertaining to watch than greece or Czechs.

  198. samuel - united WE stand says:

Point is, the competition would do better getting rid of the only team that makes stoke’s hoofing tactics look like brazilian joga bonito. Germany are the efficient team to neutralize all those romance and the better for it.

No wonder why roy keane lambasted ireland. For all his bitterness, he’s right. Teams coming over for the sing song, talking Shit about ‘doggedness and spirit’, playing awful terribly shocking football and then use the easy way out “Oww, we’re a minnow, only way we could play”. No, you can also play good football with the right coaching. If all teams put the efforts in just like spain, brazil, germany, france, holland e.t.c do then maybe they would also compete. bullshit excuse to play poor football and then fluke a victory.

  199. Costas says:

    @Ash

Nah, this won’t be Euro 2004 all over again anyway. I could see us getting the result against Russia if we scored first, but Germany are a different story altogether. Nonetheless, reaching the last 8 after injury problems and dodgy referee decisions going against us is quite a feat. But like you said, never say never. ;)

And since it was brought up, I know members of the Greek camp like to think that they gave the country something to smile about and that may be true. But such is the state the country’s in, that even a repeat of 04 wouldn’t take people’s minds off their everyday problems.

  200. Costas says:

    @Jeet

More like ignorance is in fashion. ;)

  201. Ash says:

    Back to united topic

I know we Manchester united don’t depend on one player but if fryers leaves the club this won’t be a good sign for our club. Ravel gone then Pogba is also leaving and now fryers. Something is really wrong and we have to Solve it.

People will say we have Blackett, Tunni, Barmby etc but whats the guarantee that they will not leave or threaten to leave our club like Fryers and Pogba. I feel something is wrong. :(

  202. Ash says:

    Samuel

Well said mate. I just hope greece play a bit entertaining football. I remember France-Greece match at euro 04 knock out was the most one sided match I ever saw (May be after Man utd v Arsenal F.A cup final) where the deserving team i.e France got knocked out. Greece wins their majority game 1-0 only And thas why I consider them boring.

  203. samuel - united WE stand says:

Ash – it may bring a smile to the greeks but reality awaits them, they’ll probably be knocked tumbling out of the euro zone. karagounis goal won’t change reality, football is just a game (made more competitive due to the money hovering around it) and people make it out be some saviour for political problems. When teams like greece win matches like that then i worry for football long term. It will be the same next season, stoke will bundle their way to victory and ginger breadman adrian durham will hail tony pulis as the new johan cryuff for bringing his revolutionary tactics. Stoke are now established yet they play boring negative football, they and many others are an embodiment of what’s wrong with football.

  204. Costas says:

    @Ash

Actually France-Greece was quite balanced with Greece having the better chances in the first half. Imo the Czechs were the only team in that tournament that probably deserved to go through instead of Greece. Spain, Portugal and France were below par and got what they deserved.

  205. jeet says:

@samuel: if you think “football is just a game”, well then I think I have to let it rest. No point in arguing, I hope you can take your arguement to the next level – “football is just a product, and I am a demanding consumer”. Good luck with that, mate.

  206. samuel - united WE stand says:

Jeet – it’s just a game, you make it out to be more than it is. You describe ‘courage’ as if it rigidly defines an aspect of football. courage is believing in one’s ability, getting the ball down and showcase skill and flair. It’s not all about ‘throwing your head in where it hurts’ or a last ditch challenge when clearly if a player had any intelligence then they would have read the danger. Look, it’s up to you or anyone to bask in the joyous moment of the greeks. You may call me a cynic due to the fact i actually say what i think and not really giving a little damn but the fact remains, football is not a way to solve major political problems or some form of inspirational for winning wars, it’s just a game and if anything, european countries that spend beyond their means got themselves into the mess. i’d rather see something positive coming out of other parts of the world suffering from hardships but hey that’s just me.

  207. lordrt says:

the twins are very promising players for the future, and fabio has not been able to overshadow evra for a spot on that left back, but i believe a loan will give him the opportunity to mature in that position and when he comes back we’ll have 2 deadly side backs if both da silvas start the games.

  208. jeet says:

Yeah, and it was the Babes’ stupidity – they should have refused to take that flight, typical british bulldog courage, and look where that got them… And why do we even remember them? Worst fates have befallen people, communities and countries…

  209. samuel - united WE stand says:

If football is just not a game then what is it? don’t make it out to be like a fight between a lion and a roman, it’s a bag of pressured air kicked about. It’s enjoyable and very much so. Demanding customer? well that’s up to you to decide but i’m pretty sure a lot of people around the globe watching greece would be mystified with what actually is the hype surrounding football. Are greece now the flag bearer for great football? what legacy did they leave when they fluked euro 2004? who models their game on greece?

  210. Ash says:

    Samuel

I know Greece will be knocked out but that doesn;’t mean their people won’t be happy. Even english fans know the reality that they will be knocked out against spain but that doesn’t mean their fans would want them to get knocked out in the group stage itself.

I can bet every greece fan will be happy that their team progress to the next round against all the odds. You don’t always need to win the tournament to bring cheers to the fans. Remember Korea and Japan in 02 WC. They bought so many cheers and happiness to their fans. Greece are already in a bad position so This would atleast give their country mates something to cheer even of they know they will get beaten by the germans.

  211. samuel - united WE stand says:

Now you’re comparing the busby babes with greece. Deary me. Totally different circumstances, not similar in any way or form.

That was a tragedy and it’s great to see football in that way elevate lifes, greece on the other hand are just another lavish spending economy now facing the consequences, i see nothing inspirational in their victory last night.

  212. Fibes says:

Can’t help but think this is the open window for Fryers to climb through. Any sort of injury to Evra and he could claim that left back berth, jump the queue ahead of Fabio.

  213. Bob says:

    Fibes

According to a few sites Fryers is on his way to Spurs…

  214. james21 says:

Football to some is not just a game. To you Sam it might be but to others its their life blood, their passion and their whole life. Football is exactly like a fight between a Roman and a Lion because in the day the Romans found that sort of thing entertaining,it was their sport, their way of relaxing and their way of getting togethjer with their mates..
Greece celebrated the win last night and for a time the win helped them forget the problems the country have, like all things in life we all need a happy place to go and forget our problems and hardships, some choose Church others choose Football.

  215. Costas says:

Don’t fall for cynism lads. It’s just another way for boring personalities to attract interest when they have nothing going for them.

  216. samuel - united WE stand says:

Ash – fair enough. Of course i wouldn’t deny greece their celebrations and i’ve always acknowledged their fighting mentality which is another good part of football but their style of football is not really something to be proud of. All i’m saying is, yes football can bring smiles e.t.c but after the game, it’s a return to harsh reality and a reality football will never solve. let’s not make the game more than it is.

I remember reading a quote (i’m not accurate with this) about a liverpool manager saying ‘football is more important than life’ – an example of the game being elevated beyond its limited lofty status. If we all want to solve problems then solve it, relying on a football game is nothing more than naive.

  217. james21 says:

    Costas
Morning mate. Well done to Greece mate, thought you should have had a couple more. Glad Russia are out, the wankfest ended as quickly as it begun. I’m in Cyprus next week so don’t be voting to take back the Drachma, I’ve got my Euros now :)

  218. Costas says:

    @James

Hi mate. That’s how I used to look at United wins until recently and I am sure most in here feel the same way. But you reach a point when football stops being much of a consolation. And that’s where Greece is at the moment. Yeah there was joy yesterday but with today’s crucial elections on the menu, it was soon forgotten. And what’s even worse, we can’t vote for Karagounis today. ;)

  219. TonyBee says:

Utter horror for the Greek FA, as they realise that they’re going to have to book a hotel for another week.

  220. Costas says:

    @James

As for Russia, I feel that they are a victim of their first game. Whereas the Czechs regrouped to win the next 2, the Russians thought it would be just as easy. Sad to see them go out (I love their anthem, lol), but at the end of the day, the teams that conducted themselves in the most serious manner went through.

Oh and don’t worry. We won’t return to the drachma yet, lol. You’ll be safe in Cyprus anyway. Hope you have a great time there. :)

  221. samuel - united WE stand says:

boring personalities, i wouldn’t exactly say republik of mancunia is filled with bubbly bruce forsyths. I always say, if you have a view that differs from the ordinary then it rages the bitters.

I only see usernames, i can’t really judge anyone beyond what they post, only a know it all deluded ponce would say they do know everything about posters.

  222. jeet says:

Don’t bother Samuel, I’m done with you, you lost me when you said football is just a game, you keep up with your lofty standards, ill just keep feeling the rush.

  223. samuel - united WE stand says:

James21 – i always read your post and respect your views. I will disagree with some parts of it but it’s your opinion about football and this is mine, neither you or i is on the right but hey, fair enough.

No worries. Just my opinion, although you do realise I’m right and you’re wrong. :D

PS I am a bubbly Brucie. Nice to see you…..

Right I’m off to pack. Keep Utd and don’t fall out too much. :)

Jeet – “I’m done with you”? with all due respect, i only replied, it’s not a divorce. I gave my opinion and up to you to interpret however you like and which you clearly have in a negative way. I don’t think i offended anyone, all my posts are explained clearly. Football is easy to fall back on when humans make massive blunders. I would say, if football can elevate lifes from poverty then fantastic, if it helps in different forms of hardships then brilliant but my argument has been based only around greece as a poor symbol of football. Up to anyone to divert away from it.

  226. jeet says:

I’m done with arguing with you, at least on this topic

  227. Costas says:

Nothing wrong with a different view. I love them. As long as they are well based and justified. Otherwise they just come off as someone’s attempt to act like a troll.

    @TonyBee

James21 – you probably are right and i’m wrong but i also could be right and you would be wrong by miles. Great thing is, it’s a debate that we can all share, no need for bitterness or even worse, keeping grudges on a football blog. Good day!

Oh before I go. Cedars is a shandy supping lightwieght. :P

Football to some or even most people may be just a game, especially those who do not follow the sport in anyway…..For me personally its much more than just a game, its a passion and when watching United every emotion with in me is moved……All the drama, the late come backs and great goals usually have me screaming my lungs out in support……..It only needs me to remember that late winner by Ole in 99 to give me goosebumps and that is a mere small example….I only have to remember watching Sir Bobby shed a tear when we beat Chelsea and went on the win the league or seeing Sir Alex walk out to the pitch for his 25th to shed a tear of my own….

Yes to some its just a game, for me its a way of life

  232. CedarsDevil says:

As for Greece, I celebrated yesterday as if it was my own country….I have a few Greek friends and they were sending me texts like mad after the final whistle. I know how much this win meant to them and whether or not they go any further is really besides the point

Great couple of links mate………..Foogie was a fantastic striker in his day, his record is phenomenal

  238. CedarsDevil says:

Oh I meant Papii!! Cyril and Papii’s red moniker are way too similar

Not the first to fall for this!!

  239. Clint-Iamyourpapii says:

    Cedars

Credit to Cyril for finding this links ;)

Foogie was a great striker but he was no Kenny Dalglish according to Kenny himself….how humble !

    :P

  240. Costas says:

    @Cedars

Hi mate. You mean to tell me that your Greek friends weren’t distraught about the football Greece played or about the legacy it will leave behind? Amazing.

  241. CedarsDevil says:

    Costas

Ha ha ha……….Far from it mate, they were absolutely over the moon and to be honest so was I!

    Papii

KKK ever the humble angel, bastard was a decent player though

  242. xol says:

Interesting debate. Consider the rise of Club football vs the fall of international football, ie the multi nationalities represented at a club like United. Also the shrinking of the planet with modern communications and travel, the insignificance of nationality as inevitable globalisation occurs. Pulling together a squad of players who share the same passport has lost it’s importance for me.

Does it really matter where United’s next signing comes from? No. Do I care if United’s next signing is good? Yes.

  243. Costas says:

    @Cedars

Well I for one appreciate your support.

  245. wayne says:

Maybe Football is a game to some, warfare to others, its about pride, passion, love and territory. You soon learn that as a 16yr old being chased by 30 Geordies through the streets of Newcastle.
It was all about showing others we were the Red army and weren’t afraid to go on their patch and support the team we all love,it was a fucking rush.
You can’t get that attachment from a Tv or video screen because it takes the emotion and comradery out of the equation, just becomes stats and players just become numbers. The biggest thing i miss about England is watching Utd live,it gets in your blood and becomes part of who you are.

  246. CedarsDevil says:

    wayne

You fucking beauty, could not have put it better my self…………Putting your life on the line for your club at places like Elland Road………….Oh and yes its ‘just a game’
