No More Saturday Games For United

If Manchester United knock Ajax out of the Europa League on Thursday, they will not play another game on Saturday for the rest of the season.

The following changes were announced today:
QPR (H) Sun 8 Apr (1.30pm Sky)
Wigan (A) Wed 11 Apr (7.45, not televised)
Villa (H) Sun 15 Apr (4pm Sky)
Everton (H) Sun 22 Apr (12.30pm Sky)
Manchester City (A) Mon 30 Apr (8pm Sky)

The time difference for the states can suck at times too. Especially midweek games as they are always on in the middle of the afternoon, so I always have to skip class. I hate to think what I’m going to have to do when I start working a “real” job.

Also, why is it that when we play Liverpool are the games always around 12p? It makes for an early morning, often around 7am. Is there a stipulation, besides tv rights, that say that United/Liverpool games are always at a certain time?

I once heard it was because having the games in the afternoon (3 or 5), meant that the fans would be absolutley smashed by the time the game starts, and would be more likely to be fighting. Don’t know if there is any truth in this….just means I start drinking at 10am instead of 12 on a Saturday :p

Costas – i’m sure he’s just getting rested and if rooney doesn’t feel fit enough to take the pitch then why risk him? especially when two upcoming premier league games away from home will be very difficult.

On pogba, Fergie said it’s possible that he would stay but no progression in his contract talks. It’s that agent behind all these, he clearly wants to stay so i don’t know why there is a stumbling block. Hopefully progress will come soon enough.

Your Sunday League manager probably wouldn’t take account of the fact that a bad throat is a symptom, not a condition, and if it could be a symptom of a potentially more debilitating cold being in the offing (and you were your team’s best player – I dunno, you might be!), it’s not worth risking you on a February evening just in case it exacerbates it and puts you out for another week…

I’m watching Basle take on Bayern -should be 2-1 for the yodellers. The panzers REALLY miss Schweini – NO SCHWEINI, NO WAY – and for some reason Thomas Mueller is on the bench. The way Basle are playing makes me feel not-so-bad that they edged out TheLads in December.

The yodellers have two good strikers, a very, very good keeper, and several really good midfielders and a Korean left back who ain’t too shabby. They’ve been under-rated and belong in this competition – Bayern, on the other hand, are just riding their luck. The panzers are seriously over-rated – I’d be amazed if they could live with either RM or Barcelona.

I remeber seeing stats on here for how the big teams performed when playing either before or after each other and we were much better than the others (City were not included as it was big teams) at getting a result when our title rivals had already won.
