No Olympics For Chicharito

Sir Alex Ferguson has today confirmed that Javier Hernandez will not be representing Mexico in this summer’s Olympics.

Last summer he won the Gold Cup with Mexico as the competition’s top scorer and best player. The summer before he played in the World Cup and scored goals against Argentina and France.

“His form last season was fantastic,” said Ferguson. “He’s found the second year more difficult, but a lot of that is down to not having a summer break for three years and playing every summer for his country. Next year he will be fine as we have agreed with the Mexican Football Association that he is going to get the requisite rest that he needs to perform in the Premier League.”

good news hopefully, his seasons been abit stop start with alot of injuries, his goal poaching skills aren’t in question just needs abit of work on his all round game, a full pre season with us should do him good

  2. Jo Henderson says:

To be fair he has earned a little break…then we can him bak on the pitch and win games :D come on Chicharito!! X

  3. Dazbomber says:

I thought it would be a good idea for him to play and get some games under his belt and get back some confidance

  4. James1878 says:

I think this good for Javier, he needs a proper break so he can return for pre-season fresh and ready.

  5. wayne says:

Good he needs a rest nail on the head Sir Alex

  6. Pav1878 says:

    In a word. Good.

  7. Dazbomber says:

Rest , he’s not kicked a ball in anger

  8. wayne says:

If you don’t understand Dazbomber what can one say

  9. Jeet says:

Hope we could do the same with our other players as well…

  10. Redbilly says:

Personally, Interationals and now the world cup leads to injuries. If the lads don’t play they are more inclined to be be fit and able for our club, that’s all that matters to me. Not patriotic I know but only united counts .

  11. kanchelskis says:

Good news. Get back among the goals next season Chicharito

  12. Marq says:

I think many people forgot that Hernandez has been playing non stop for a good 3 years now. Makes sense to let him rest a summer to recharge. The Olympics is just crap. How can you say it is a competition that pits the best when you limit it to under 23 level?

  13. JP7 says:

Olympic Football = Waste of time

  14. BerbaGod says:

    United > International teams.

  15. Costas says:

Thank fuck. Hopefully we will have similar success with the English Olympic team.

  16. JP7 says:

    United > All teams

  17. BerbaGod says:

    United > the Avengers!

  18. Red Devil says:

About friggin time the lad got some rest…may he recover his spark soon enough…the poor lad has been well and truly wrunged and hung out to dry playing non-stop football for 3 odd years..

  19. CedarsDevil says:

    Red Devil

About frigging time you posted regularly here mate!! Good stuff

Really happy for Little Pea, a good rest would be great from him…..Love him to bits and I am sure he will only get better

  20. Redbilly says:

Plinking not the world cup. :-)

  21. Mikekelly12 says:

A chich is as good as a rest!

  22. koolburn says:

    Buy that big hitter ffs

  23. Dazbomber says:

I don’t understand , a centre forward that can not control the ball .

  24. Dazbomber says:

I hope the City players are as nervous as their fans , the ones I work with are shitting them selves , let’s hope so.

  25. kanchelskis says:

    @Dazbomber

If they weren’t nervous against the teams 1st (now 2nd) and 4th (now 5th) in the league, why would they be nervous against the team 17th in the league?

Anyone hoping for any favours from QPR is going to be sorely disappointed.

  26. CedarsDevil says:

    kanchelskis

What’s with the flashy font mate? Making my eyes go all funny!!

  27. Dazbomber says:

Kanchelskis- I don’t know but they are

  28. kanchelskis says:

    @Dazbomber

I meant the players. The fans were probably nervous before the last two games as well.

    @Cedars

Mwahahahaa! Bow before my font powers

Just bored and testing the HTML-resistance of RoM. Don’t worry – won’t keep it up as it’s annoying!

  29. kanchelskis says:

I can do this as well.

  30. CedarsDevil says:

    Show off!!!

  31. Voice of reason says:

    City 1 qpr 1 Zamora 89 Sunderland 1 united 2 welbeck 90

  32. Voice of reason says:

Key is Bolton leading early at stoke

  33. wayne says:

Thought all the games kicked off at the same time why would it matter is Bolton scored early

  34. kanchelskis says:

    @wayne

Cos then QPR would know that they need the point. They can stay up with a defeat, as long as Bolton lose as well. But if Bolton are leading, it will mean they have to get the point.

  35. wayne says:

Kanchelskis hi mate so Bolton score in the 2nd minute still 88 to play, don’t understand the logic mate.I’d think Hughes would rather the players not know the score and have the team play hard till the final whistle

  36. kanchelskis says:

    @wayne

Hey it wasn’t me that said it!

  37. Voice of reason says:

Don’t worry their fans will tell them – they will certainly know if Bolton losing – who can forget the fuck up at city in 96 due to not really knowing

  38. wayne says:

VOR so what its a 90min game don’t see the how Bolton scoring a early goal makes any difference.Stoke could be leading 1-0 in the 80th min and Bolton could score 2 late goals or vice versa. The only way Qpr are guaranteed to stay up is by getting a point and playing hard for the full 90

  39. red_bicycle says:

Shitty draw with QPR is not impossible. Just look at what Wigan has done damage to bigger clubs lately to survive from relegated.
What happen to Macheda btw? Im wondering if he could play on sunday.

  40. Bobby Charlton's combover says:

Right decision for Chicarito – moving on: What’s the story with Paul Pogba?

  41. kanchelskis says:

    @red_bicycle

I’d say it’s as close to impossible as you’re likely to come. City’s home record is formidable (W18 D1 of last 19) and QPR’s away record poor (only drawn OR won 5 away games all season).

Macheda picked up a bad injury and returned to United.

  42. Passe says:

If anything, I thought he lacked match fitness these last few weeks…

  43. Phil Jones' Birdshit Streaks says:

TBH, it could have done him the world of good. His touch has looked terrible this season, and his link up play a bit shoddy. With all the injuries he’s had in this stop-start season for him, I’d have thought it would have been a wise move letting him get match time. Let’s hope Fergie knows best

  44. MG says:

Paul Pogba has officially left football and become a civil rights leader in the mould of Dr. King

His first speech entitled I have a dream only God knows it’s polemic will be given in Turin any time soon.

  45. WillieRedNut says:

This is one of the reasons I never got over critical of Hernandez’s poor performances. Lads been playing non stop football since we signed him. Needs a break. Not sure if he’ll figure much on the tour.

  46. Voice of reason says:

Wayne but if Stoke 3 up with 20 left ?

  47. MG says:

Paul Pogba will be accompanied by his believers Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli

    They all have dreams.

The opening credits will be performed by Manchester United legend and now Real Madrid poster boy Ronaldo

  48. MG says:

The ceremony will be sponsored by Golden-balls and his wife Victoria Beckham who will be providing the designer wear to Pogba

  49. MG says:

It is believed that SAF will boycott the event

Or SAF doesn’t know about the event

  50. utd_fc says:

Good news. Now Chicharito can spend all summer working on his first touch :D

  51. wayne says:

VOR we can use any scenario in order for QPR to quit playing, your initial point was the key to the game is Bolton scoring first which I disagree with
PJBS he needs a break mentally mate doesn’t matter how much game time he’s getting, still has to be ready to go,he hasn’t had a break for 3 yrs.Needs to get some Corona and Mexican beach time and switch off for a while

  52. red_bicycle says:

    @kanchelskis:

I agree its close to imppossible.

But if u look at it, draw is enough for QPR to save many egos. Hughes ego for example. Draw and not relegated will save his career a lot. Not to mention some players ego like SWP or Barton. And never underestimate bunch of people who fight for their survival. I guess we can put aside all record on paper.

To be honest, Im not ready to move on from this season. No next season talk yet please. We still have one more game to play.

  53. Voice of reason says:

My point is we need qpr motivated for full 90 – an early Bolton goal may help that – whatever we don’t need Stoke leading comfortably – ideally we want Bolton in front making these guys desperate

  54. wayne says:

My point is if QPR aren’t motivated knowing a point will keep them up then there’s something wrong and even if Bolton are winning or losing by the odd goal with time left in the game QPR have to keep playing to the final whistle,so one goal either way makes no fucking difference

  55. CedarsDevil says:

I think the whole point is pointless to be honest

  56. WillieRedNut says:

At which point do I enter the scene?

  57. keano99 says:

Rumors on the internet david gill seen getting out of a car with eden hazard and showing him around our training ground? I don’t believe them my self but that’s what’s flying around. I think we have more chance of signing the dukes of hazard

  58. Phil Jones' Birdshit Streaks says:

Yeah I hear that Wayne. Let’s hope he comes back stronger next season

  59. WillieRedNut says:

Matt will be over the moon! Don’t hurt my Bebe!

  60. CedarsDevil says:

Its the point of no return Willie

  61. King Eric says:

If City win I hope United lose or draw. Don’t slate me. I would rather lose the league by a couple of points than on fucking goal difference!

  62. WillieRedNut says:

Straight to the blunted point Cedars?

  63. wayne says:

Should get rid of GD tied game one playoff game for all the marbles

  64. Marq says:

All the new headlines are saying we are “denying” Hernandez the chance to go to the Olympics. It was an agreement with the Mexican FA, a mutual consent that for the greater good, it would be better for Hernandez to be rested.

Guess only stories about United can sell, that they have to twist whatever news that comes out

  65. King Eric says:

Marq – Yes I noticed that too. Fucking cunts trying to paint Fergie as the bad man again.

wayne – Said the same to my mate. It should be a one off game at a neutral venue.

  66. CedarsDevil says:

    wayne

Much rather have the GD into effect as opposed to Spain for example where head to head comes into it should the teams be tied on points. Works as a better motivator throughout a long season at both ends of the table

  67. King Eric says:

Cedars – Hello mate. Either way we would be fucked anyway with head to head!!!

  68. mikekelly12 says:

I got a taxi home after the derby. The driver said at the beginning of the season that United would win the league by a point. When city were 8 clear, he said United would win by a point, when we were 8 clear, he said we would win by a point. For this to happen city will need to lose and we draw!!! Get great odds on that!!

VOR – I disagree, the key is us being 5 up with 1 minute left and city 5 down with 1 minute left…. Got fuck all to do with Bolton!

  69. CedarsDevil says:

    King Eric

Would much rather stick to the current system mate……At the end of the day even if you are top on GD then you have earned it through scoring more/conceding less etc over a whole season.

  70. soren says:

    OMG!!! ;) lol
    He needs a break.
A few weeks in Mexico with food, family and party.
He’ll come back stronger and better.
    Animo Chico.

  71. kanchelskis says:

    @Marq / King Eric

Yeh, it was a prime example of journalistic creative translation. If you look at the raw quote, there’s no implicit or explicit animosity expressed by the dude from the Mexican FA. But the tabs – and even the BBC – seized on the one word for which ‘denied’ CAN be a tranlsation, and like you say, all of a sudden Fergie is painted as a bully.

    Cunts.

  72. mikekelly12 says:

    King Eric / Cedars

    I’d prefer head to toe!!

  73. CedarsDevil says:

    soren

I am sure if he meets you in Mexico he will become a better man…..Errr I mean a better player!!! ha ha

    Hola querida

  74. CedarsDevil says:

    Mike

In the case of James, more like ankle to toe!!

    King Eric

Which ever way you look at it we’re fucked mate!!!

  75. soren says:

    Cedars Hola!!
Yeah!!! I think the same lol

  76. CedarsDevil says:

    soren

Ha ha, if you do meet him just make sure he has enough gas left in his tank for the new season!!!

Oh, and do tell us all about it (well most of it!!)

  77. bayoRed says:

Deserverd break for ”little pea”. Love the lad hope he finds his shooting boots when he comes back. Not many starts for him this season reminds me of the importance of competing on all fronts. Its been a bit of a yawn ever since we were out of the cup competitions.

  78. bayoRed says:

Our kit seems to be popular already! Cant wait to buy one. You rarely hear a football kit being called names.

  79. FletchTHEMAN says:

Javier will get a break, this has got to be a good thing. Full marks to Mexico federation for the decision.
They didn’t need to do it, but seem to be saying it is a reasonable request from the club.

  80. FletchTHEMAN says:

Regarding whether QPR will be motivated, best motivation is if Bolton are up by 2 at HT.

If Stoke are up, then its polemic innit?

  81. iced earth says:

according to reports both bale&modric want out, bale will choose between shity&barca, barca are in pole position and spuds want £50 m for him,and modric will cost more then £45 m for the team who want his service
if bale or modric are worth £50 m,i think valencia or carrick are on £80 m

  82. FletchTHEMAN says:

    King Eric,
Interesting. I actually don’t mind that City’s title would have an asterisk next to it.
Either way though, won’t forgive Everton or Blackburn. Lack of character.

    All polemic though,
Expecting Bolton will win and QPR will draw!

    Keep the faith brothers!

  83. Redbilly says:

Dazbomber- I sense you like I are not ready to throw in the towel . On paper it’s a city massacre but my intuition tells me anything us still possible. City nerves , red card who knows. The irony would be city to draw or lose and so do we. I’m not convinced it’s over yet mate, not until final whistle . Make em sweat!.

  84. Redbilly says:

King eric- happy with the GD System. If shitty win it it’s due to the extra edge from the strike force and defence . If we won in GD. I would feel we fully justified winning it. Still fucking hurts though.

  85. Redbilly says:

Do you realise if we do win the title it wol not sink in ….well for a minute or two anyway. Then it’s bollock naked, red paint and running around the city shop arndale centre :-)

  86. iced earth says:

i am praying everyday for us
i have a feeling that title is ours

  87. MG says:

Did you see Cedars polishing up on his languages?

Cedars are you like a secret agent?

  88. TonyBee Watson says:

READING THROUGH EARLIER POSTS…..has Pogba actually fucked off ……..

  89. MG says:

Ultimately we lost the title because we lost to city twice.

The rest is ifs and buts.

More than anything I wish we had gone down the wastelands playing our way, for me that is the outstanding result that hurts.

    19

  90. Tom Daley says:

Lets get drogba on a free at the end of the season, can’t be much worse than lil mickey eh? ;)

  91. James7t7 says:

All these commenting on Chicos 1st touch.. Etc… He’s 10 times the player Welbeck is..

    That is all.

  92. Redbilly says:

MG- I agree. Better to have list by 3 and to have put the shits up them than the way we did. Learning curve.

  93. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    James7T7

In what way is he ten timed better than wellbeck? Chico had a great 1st season but poor 2nd. Danny has been excellent this season and has offered a different dimension to Chico.

Either both are top players on their day and glad to have both.

  94. Mikekelly12 says:

I won’t be watching any football on Sunday. Will be entirely unaware of results all day. I certainly won’t be watching those bitter fuckers lifting the trophy!!

  95. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

In terms of goal difference debate its simple who ever scores more has earned the right, especially given it was against us they have done it.

We can have no complaints they took 6 points and a 12 goal swing just by playing us.

  96. Mikekelly12 says:

Super Super Dan…Super Super Dan, Super Super Dan….. Super Danny Welbeck!!!

  97. Mikekelly12 says:

GOAL….. Goal… Always remember your soul.,,you’ve got the power to know…. Your indestructible….

  98. Redbilly says:

Cedars – will you stop with your son?

He cant even score a penalty against 20 year old rookie goalie ;)

and you want him at United? are u outta your mind? :P

  103. Sandeep1878 says:

    FTM,

    Evening mate, how are you?

    Costas,

    evening mate,

are you still at Balux cafe? ;)

  105. King Eric says:

Giggs12 – Hello mate. Not being pedantic but a ten goal swing , not 12!! You OK pal.

Oh don’t get me wrong I have no beef with the current system , its just a shitter to lose on bastard goal difference.

Hernandez is NOT ten times the player Danny is. I personally prefer watching Danny, much more to his game. Love them both.

  106. Mikekelly12 says:

    King Eric
Alright pal. It was 12… 10 at OT and 2 at wastelands!!! Danny has been 10 times better than Chico this year! Love em both!!!

  107. CedarsDevil says:

Welbeck rocks my world, through and through a RED to the core. Would not trade him for all the money in the world…….

Give me a United lad coming from the ranks over any so called ‘star’ any day of the week

  108. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

Give me Danny Wellbeck over Wayne Rooney 100 times over. We make players they don’t make us.

  109. Costas says:

    @Sandeep

No I am back mate, lol. Not big on coffee anyway.

  110. iced earth says:

i love chicharito but Welbeck is more complet player he will devlope into the best striker in europe
chicharito is the best finisher in the world alongside higuin, chicharito will come good next seasons no doubt about that
    glad to have theme both,

  111. CedarsDevil says:

Give me proper REDS like Giggs12 over voices of shit any day of the week

  112. Redbilly says:

Dazbomber- totally agree. I Only concede if after the final game its over, we are still in it. Our lads only need to focus in winning .

  113. iced earth says:

Javi Martinez seems to be barça bound

  114. James7t7 says:

@Giggs12 I’m just fed up with the debate that Chico has had a poor season… How can that be labelled to a guy that missed start of season with concussion and had a bad injury at Villa… Once he came back he has rarely had a good run.. I don’t agree that he should have been kept out of starting side for a player who scored 1 in 14. Chico would never have those stats.. People on here say he doesn’t bring anything extra to the team… There was a match.. Away to Olitul Galati where we went down to 10 men and he was fantastic as a lone striker holding up the ball.. Winning free kicks to take pressure off.

The guy has got an amazing goal record and I must be blind or missing something obvious here.

Obviously now he’s rusty and he was snatching at chances against Swansea… But he proved yet again that unlike Welbeck he can get in the right position for a GOALSCORER and is always a threat getting 4 very good opportunities… Whereas Welbeck always comes back too deep and always looking to lay off.. Rarely shoots from distance.

One other thing is that his partnership with Rooney is much more potent and telepathic.

I hope SAF addresses this soon!

  115. Albert Ross says:

iced earth – thanks for that link, here is the gist.

“Manchester United have written to the FA to say Stuart Pearce cannot select any of their over-age players for the British Olympic team apart from Ryan Giggs, it can be disclosed. The club have ruled out Team GB coach Pearce picking Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney, Paul Scholes and Jonny Evans for the Olympic tournament at London 2012 as over-23 players. According to a 2008 court ruling, clubs have the right to refuse to release players for the competition as it is not on the international calendar, but United are only taking that position on their over-age players.”

  116. CedarsDevil says:

Wayne Rooney for team GB?? First off, its a crap label for a team, secondly our Roo aka Wazza cannot tell the difference between a football and a tennis ball…..

Give the lad a rest, let him grow his hair and get his priorities in order

  117. James7t7 says:

Don’t get me wrong… I’m glad we have both.. I thing the starting order is wrong and not justified.

  118. James7t7 says:

Anyone know more about our pre-season tour.. Is it only in Norway? Who we playing n what’s the dates?

  119. Costas says:

Good news about the England team then. Pearce will still pick Jones and Smalling one would think.

Shouldn’t there be somne kind of rule where a player that was in a Euro tournament squad must not be allowed to be in the Olympics squad?

  120. Kings says:

Here’s hoping for a clean sweep of away wins in the Premiership this weekend.

  121. Mikekelly12 says:

    Cedars
Sorry to burst your bubble but Giggs12 only supports United as his second team. His first love is Motherwell…. He even went for dust ups on industrial estates pre match with The Well!!!

  122. dannysoya LOVES SIAN MASSEY says:

GREAT NEWS. more time for chicharito to work on his game in the off season. His second season was not bad at all but considering the blazing first season he had it is only inevitable that many will claim chicha has deteriorated as a player. I believe that next year we will see a much stronger chicharito capable of not just scoring but holding up balls and holding off defenders too.
now if only fergie could find a way to take rooney, smalling and welbeck and jones out of the euros. I wish Nani the best of luck with portugal at the euros.

  123. Giggs12Gerrard0 says:

    James7t7

Your preaching to the choir mate, I think Chico is class a proper goal scorer. As you rightly pointed out injuries have led him to have a poor season compared to his 1st. I was disagreeing with your suggestion he is ten times the player of wellbeck. Danny has been class in the absence of Chico and rightly rewarded with the starting slot.

  124. CedarsDevil says:

This is cunting bollocks…….Had my hopes pinned on Giggs12, turns out to be a double agent, fuck this dicking cock of a scenario.

  129. Costas says:

Just to add to my earlier post. Apparently, the players that will be involved in Euro 2012 won’t play in the Olympics. So Tom, Danny, Jones and Smalling won’t participate in both. Now it’s just a case of which tournament they’ll get picked for.

  154. Mikekelly12 says:

    TonyBee
Not sure pal but it’s front page news in Italy saying it’s imminent. Couldn’t give a flying fuck anymore? Sir Alex said if he bought a midfielder in the summer what message would that give Pogba. Well seemingly the message was go to Italy !! Maybe buying a midfielder will send a message saying stay!!!

Off topic, but i think its about time this boy pogba made his fuckin mind up…i never thought i’d see this….an 18 year old holding the club to ransom…what has become of football..!

  159. fergusonpelamiverga says:

How exactly is he going to work on his game if he is not playing? Why the hell do you care if hes ready for your league hes 24. I think this is disrespectful for the chicharito and the people of mexico. let him choose if he wants to play. he would draw attention from UK team and he would make a huge difference who cares about your queer league. when hes playing for his own people he plays at his best he probably sucks cause he has to see that wanker fergie all the time. he scored wit chivas againts man u he’s boss wit home crowd and man u is not anywhere near his home so if u want him to do better let him play for his people
